View Full Version : Could Into The Storm and/or Step It Up: All In beat this movie?

I don't think Into The Storm will beat this. It looks like a good movie, I haven't seen the new trailer but the teaser was awesome, so I am gonna check it out at some point. However, Into The Storm is based on a book, so its audience is people that wanna see destruction, and fans of the book, so it is big competition. Next is Step Up: All In. I don't see why they keep making these movies. They get poor reviews and they don't even make a lot of money. The highest grossing one, the first one, only made 65 million total. I think TMNT will beat this. So it does look like Into The Storm in TMNT's biggest competition. There's also The Hundred Foot Journey, but I don't think we have to worry about that one.

I doubt it, I predict the Top 3 movies for that week are going to be TMNT at #1 Guardians of the Galaxy at #2 and Into The Storm at #3

the reason why I think Into the Storm will be at #3 is because, It'll cater to those that liked the movie Twister from years, I liked Twister, But I can only see one movie that weekend, And its TMNT. :)

Yeah, I can't actually believe that there are that many sequels - I literally didn't know about this til I read it here on the forums... I thought there was only the original and one sequel! Terrifying...

I haven't heard of either. They haven't been promoted much I guess. Those movies don't have a chance against TMNT or GOTG.

Is there some kind of movie Olympics now that I don't know of? lol If they all at least do well enough I'm not sure it matters all that much who "wins" the top place. I mean.. say TMNT doesn't come in at #1, but still pulls in as a heavyweight at the box office, that's nothing to sneeze at.

They're decent movies for what they are. Dance movies. The stuff in Step Up 2 THE STREETS was pretty cool. Especially with Channing Tatum up there.

There's so many sequels because the movies almost immediately make their budget back. They only pay for the empty warehouse to dance in and the dancers!

they are also fairly cheap to make so dont really need to make millions upon millions to warrant sequels

that said i dont think these to will say "beat" tmnt but they could take away a few viewers

Nothing that causes any kind of blip.

You also said a limited release showing of an anime movie released a year ago would take viewers away.

It kinda is. It's no different from any of those Rifftrax special screenings or the live broadway performances. It's a year old special of an anime that really isn't all that popular anymore in the states. Especially compared to it's heyday.

And like I said before. All of the hardcore fans that would travel to find a theater showing the movie have most likely already seen the thing a billion times. After all, it's a year old and easy to find on the internet.

You do realize that most of the real hardcore fans that still care about DBZ absolutely hate the dubbed versions, right?

It's still the same movie, regardless of voices. Not that big of a selling point and I'm talking as a guy that's sorta interested in going.

Select theaters is still the focus here. Even if this thing had a wide release it wouldn't do any kind of business. It's getting a small release. 1 or 2 theaters per state if we're lucky really.

True, I didn't even think of what it would cost to keep churning them out... I was more just amazed at the idea that there's a big enough audience to warrant so many movies in the franchise. Takes all sorts, I guess!

Well, I just watched the new Main Trailer for Into The Storm, it looks OK. I could see it either being really good or really bad. It was nice to see Lori from The Walking Dead in it though  The destruction looks really done, great special effects.

But Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles still looks 10X better.

The only thing that stood out in Into the Storm was Richard Armitage. Other than that, it just seems like one of those been there, done that scenario.

And no, I honestly don't think neither of these movies is going to pose a threat to TMNT, GOTG or even Sin City 2.

Guardians will make more than TMNT. Into the Storm will barely make back its budget.

Tch, I for one would be grossly offended if Step It Up beat the Turtles.

I mean, the Turtles are way better dancers! :trazz:

I demand a dance-off!

The thing that bothered me about the Into The Storm trailer was its not found footage, but some shots in it looked like they were found footage, it was really weird. I honestly might not even see Into The Storm in theaters. I want to because it looks like a movie best since on the big screen, but on August 9th the day after TMNT I'm going a MotoGP race, then after that I'm going on vacation, then the Friday after that is when The Giver comes out, then after that I'm gonna wanna stop spending money so much after spending so much on GOTG, TMNT, MotoGP, Vacation, and The Giver, then 2 weeks after The Giver is when As Above, So Below comes out. With all happening, I might not even be able to see Into The Storm in theaters

Yeah but none of those movies have films that come out once a year. Usually Fast and Furious movies come out once every 2-3 years, and Step Up once every 2-3 years as well, where Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed have games that come out once a year.

youre being too kind. to both of those of those movie franchises. I watched the final dance battle of the last step it up movie on youtube, and they have officially run out of ideas, boring and lame.

as for the Fast series, the Rock cant save everything, even if movie companies think he can.

LOL, I saw the trailer for "Into the Storm" and it seems like it has a storyline of Twister (1996 film) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twister_%281996_film%29) with the mega special effects of the TV movie Category 6: Day of Destruction (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category_6:_Day_of_Destruction) and/or the 2004 movie The Day After Tomorrow (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Day_After_Tomorrow). I don't see how it will distinguish itself from doing anything better from those movies except for the improved special effects.

After seeing the trailer for "Step Up All In", and plot wise, it doesn't look too impressive, and the last Step Up movie (Step Up Revolution) made it into the #4 place during its debut weekend.

I don't know, their premises don't seem too fetching for an audience to take them to a #1 spot. I think TMNT will be either #1 or #2 (if "Guardians of the Galaxy" continues its second #1 week) for its debut weekend on the mere curiosity factor alone since Turtles haven't been widely promoted in the mainstream since back in the early 90s.

I think Into The Storm will make the Top 3 placing 3rd Place right behind Guardians of the Galaxy, There are people out there who liked the movie Twister and are into Weather disaster movies. I saw Twister when it first came out years ago and i thought it was fun film. Im sure Into The Storm will be the same.

With respect to the fans of Step Up, we have a similar franchise on our hands with the TMNT. They have their fans. We have ours. I'm not really worried about the movie doing bad at the B.O. or "beating" one another. Its all about making sequels. There is always going to be a Step up sequel as well as a TMNT and Transformer sequel.

Keep putting movies out and I will be in the theater eating my popcorn.

Into the Storm won't effect TMNT here in the UK as we get Into the Storm on the 22nd August, (TMNT on Oct 17th) it does look like a good film and I will go see it as I like films like that.

Not sure which film could hurt TMNT at the box office in the UK. Other films coming out the same week as TMNT are Kingsman: The Secret Service, Dolphin Tale 2, 71 and Exocism. I don't think we need to worry about these films hurting it

Dracula Untold (looks like a good film) could have hurt it (or the other way round) as it was meant to come out the same day as TMNT but they brought it forward by 2 weeks to Oct 3rd.

The week after we got Book of Life, Fury and The Judge coming out, I think one of those 3 films could knock TMNT off no 1.

But...he did save that series, or at least solidify it as a mega summer blockbuster franchise. Have you seen how much money 5 and 6 made? Come on, man.

And since you people just looooooooove Rotten Tomatoes, they're not ranked too badly, either.

ill admit, his addition was a much needed breath of fresh air. before him, the story-line was just going goofy. in fact, he quite literally, and figuratively, dwarfed the series' main draw, Vin Diesel.

my problem with that is, the Rock is everywhere now, and not that I have a problem with him, hes an exciting action star - I LOVED Rundown. But now studios are finding ways to use him, rather than focus their energies on great stories, and including him IF he fits.

case in point, GI JOE 2.
