Im not the only one who saw the trailer. Here is someone's description of it, Since I can't describe the scenes myself.

They showed the turtles as babies and tiny teens training. And there was a great shot of all four of them on screen and Ralph in the van with april and that camera guy! And leo fighting shredder and a close up of Splinter. There was a lot of new footage! Including one of the them in a lab as a "normal" turtle breaking the glass case it was being contained in. The voiceover said "we were created as weapons"… So there it is.

You hit the nail on the head tho. Part of what people hold dear is that they were never supposed to exist. But they do and they struggle with the ultimate question, why?

Personally? I think being created on purpose, and choosing to defy that purpose for the greater good can be just as meaningful if done well.

I have had videos that were linked the dailymotion, and others linked it to Youtube, and youtube not only took it off of youtube, they managed to link it back through Dailymotion and right to my computer, deleting it off of my hard drive. I have no idea how they did this, but I'm not the first, or the only person they have managed to do this to. And I don't like it, not one bit, because the act in itself is crossing into prying into personal property in my opinion.

Nah, I'm just hating on the Turtle faces, and sorry, they're still fugly as hell. I am still not sure if I can sit through that ugliness even if it does turn out to be a good movie. Eh, I hated it when 2k3 Turtles didn't have the pupils in their eyes, but it took 3 years for to finally stomach it and watch the first season. The show is good, but I still hate that they don't have pupils. Sadly, I know many casual fans who never could get past that look, so never even bothered.

Agree with all of this! The "created as weapons" thing bugs me… I just hope that some sort of accident still occurs, that causes the turtles to be fully mutated. Then all would be forgiven. I just feel that an accident is crucial to the Turtles origin story, no matter how it's done.

And I think the young turtles will indeed be simply part of a montage, when Leo and Splinter are explaining how they came to be to April… pretty much what this trailer is outlining.

All in all, super pumped after seeing this! The Mikey "mind blown" moment is especially great. Very TMNT 2012 series.

So does Raph have a toothpick sticking out of his mouth for this entire movie, like he's James Dean or something? And the shades and the do-rag... I'm honestly, actually curious if they're playing him straight as the "bad-ass", or if they're playing it as he's a teenager trying way too hard to seem like one.

Because if it's the latter... that's actually a pretty decent idea! Though if they are playing him straight as the super-cool bad-ass, or don't get it across that he's aggressively putting it on, some audiences may be laughing at him instead of laughing with him. He just looks too over-the-top "EXTREME" to not play it as a joke.

I think the Batman voice was just for the joke. When Raph says, "They're taking hostages," in the last trailer he sounds pretty normal and how I'd imagine Raph would sound.

Yeah, it's sad to say, but it's true. A lot of turtles died thanks to Turtlemania, or been dumped into a environment not meant for them. RES are so cute when they are young, bright green with vibrant colors, and such a manageable size. Give the animal a year or two and it'll all change. people buy way too small tanks for them and have no idea how to handle a turtle.

Luckily today we have the internet, and sites like redearedslider.com. And in the US, there is a size regulation with turtles, you can't sell turtle that have a shell length under 4 inches (iirc)

Oh btw, Forgot to mention this, I have a video capture card, Was playing around with it earlier to see if I can get the Tivo's HDMI output working with the capture card's HDMI in, but having problems getting it to work. However I can get the Component inputs working and the Tivo also has Component outputs. So I will try later today, To plug the Tivo to the capture card, And then try to capture that TV Spot directly using video capturing software.

If I managed to succesfully capture the TV spot, I will encode it and try uploading it on that same Video Bam site later on today

Oh my gosh, someone actually remembers the original reason why Splinter trained them. I think Splinter even knew it was selfish of him to do so. However, getting sweet revenge is too glorious to resist, even for Splinter.

I always thought that Splinter raising them to be assassins is what screwed up Raphael too. Since the original Raphael has this insatiable urge to kill.

And to get back on topic. I like the new TV spot. Kid Raph looks weird. Kid Mikey looks silly yet still adorable. Kid Leo looks awkward with the giant nike shoes. Donny is just Donny.

Exactly that origin I was thinking about when I saw the last TV spot! Seems like the Turtles are from a laboratory and somehow accidentally get covered in mutagen an falls down to the sewer. I don't like that origin story though. I would like it to be the original one.

This is what will be the straw that broke the camel's back for me. I can digest all of the changes to the plots and story, and I can probably stomach the ugliness of the Turtles, but if they are at all, going to be portrayed that they were once, either in this lifetime or a previous one, where they were humans at first, then I am just going to skip over this movie altogether. I gotta draw the line somewhere, and that will be it.

lol Yeah, maybe it's just the choice of clips they're showing of Fox and perhaps the whole thing will look better for her... but so far.. meh. I'm sorry, but facial expression can say a lot in very subtle ways, a slight change and it reads differently. So far this girl is reading about the same in most of these clips and giving looks that don't really quite fit the situation...

It should not be hard for a good actor to had at least add a subtle appearance of fear, apprehension, etc., you don't have to over exaggerate in order for that to come across, so "cartoon" levels of expression, no.

Maybe they're using inappropriately placed come hither clips to attract male viewers...

I know it must be hard to interact with a character who's not there, but wasn't the bulb on their suits meant to be their guide for that?

Yeah look, Fox is going to have to pull something amazing out of her hat to make me like her being in this movie. I have zero problem with Fox as a person; my beef is with her as an actress - the amount of surgery she's had (aside from being completely unnecessary, because she was beautiful before she started mainstreaming) affects a person's ability to show genuine human emotion, and in movies, that's kind of an important thing (unless you're just playing a robot or a sociopath all the time or something). We're going to end up with a planet full of Joan Rivers and nobody even cares. :lol: Al Pacino didn't make eye contact for his entire performance in Scent of a Woman and he nailed it - so for me, it's not even that she's not meeting the Turtles' eyeline, it's that she has only a single facial expression.

I know, I keep ranting about Fox in this thing - I ought to cut back - but seriously, it's one of the things that irritates me the most. Im not a fan of the comics to be honest. I like some ideas and storylines in maybe the Mirage comics but for the most part i actually didnt care for any of tbe TMNT comics as a whole. I actually dont care for comics period.

Yeah... If they want to be different with it, I'd have personally preferred a little if they started from a place as if where the others left off and just told a whole new story, rather than going back and retelling another version.

If it touches back on older material.. well ok then I guess, though the lab animal/'not really quite an accident' story doesn't really have the same charm, nor pull at the same heart strings, that the serendipitous version is/does.

Their escape from that place (which I assume they are prob taken back to when taken hostage?) should be an interesting scene though.

Turtles don't snap like that, but then turtles aren't usually "created to be weapons" in a project to "create heroes" either.

It could also be trailer red herrings, which are pretty common.

But that's the thing, they didn't change it much. They got the basics in there "turtles mutate by ooze, trained by a rat in ninjitsu". The rest is just a matter of interpretation. All adaptions change elements to fit the story they're trying to tell (ex: Joker being the one that killed Batman's parents; Idiot Pa Kent's death by tornado), it's nothing new.

It's not even anything new with Turtles. The 1987 cartoon changed the origin, the IDW comic changed the origin, the 2012 cartoon changed the origin, Next Mutation changed the origin. But they kept the essential "turtles mutated by ooze, trained by a rat in ninjitsu". Hell, IDW already did the "created as weapons" thing.

The only things changed about the origin were the introduction of Venus being the turtle who washed away, & that the turtles were not actually blood relatives. Otherwise they were supposedly following the continuity of the films, I think. I mean, technically, they didn't change the origin, they just added to it.
