Thought this would be a fun little thread to swap info and in some cases, get to know one another better! So the deal is, you post 3 random facts about yourself that people on the board might not know about you (at least, of course, until you've posted it... then people will know it about you!) - they can be as funny or as serious, as trivial or personal as you want.

I'll kick off with:

1. Reading Jackie Collins novels is my guilty pleasure (I know, so trashy!), and I'm not even sorry. :P
2. My thumbs are double-jointed; I can actually bend them both backwards a full 90 degrees.
3. I used to pose as a model for art classes.

Your turn! :D

1) I have three tattoos, only one of which was intentional. The other two are from the times I inadvertently stabbed myself with the sharp end of a pencil.

2) I'm trained to handle alligators.

3) My favorite book is "Good Omens," by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.

My fingers and thumb are hypermobile. For some reason people think it's gross? Always seemed normal to me, but it's a thing.
I was born with acute light sensitivity in my eyes, but I don't experience the "red glare" or headaches associated with photophobia [the medical condition]. So that's a thing too.
I've never broken a bone or had stitches or sprained/dislocated/anything okay I don't get hurt I am invincible also I never go outside

Heh, Lethal - I do the same thing, sort of. Every time I walk into the same room as my partner, we start doing the "Meow MEOW!" from the Detective Mittens videos.

Net, my headcanon now is that you're a vampire. Light sensitivity, staying in your fortress, invulnerable to human injuries... it all makes sense! :P

1. I've done songs with many notable rappers & producers, such as Young Buck of G-unit fame, Canibus, Wu-tang Clan affiliates, & more.

2. Sometimes I think I'm invincible. I've had more near death experiences than I can count on 2 hands.

3. I can compose symphonic arrangements but I can't read sheet music nor play any of the instruments.

Fun little thread:

1. I have never gotten seriously injured or broken anything intentionally. (I did have two broken bones in my feet, but that was because of bunion surgery and the doctor had to do it.)

2. I'm blind in one eye. Many of you know this already, but it's still something that many wouldn't know about unless they asked me straight up or I told them.

3. I'm not a very social person and enjoy being by myself.

My Scottish ancestor had a part in the Gunpowder Plot in 1605.

I'm a happy owner of two Red-Eared Slider girls, a Yellow-bellied Slider boy and a girl.

I did a short running web comic based off me and my roomies that I lived with called Geek Floor.

Ooh, fun thread! Here are mine:

1. I've never had a hangover. Ever. Which is odd, considering that I have been so drunk on several different occasions that I could barely stand, let alone walk! (And I'm no light-weight, either.)

2. My Bacon Number is 3. Yes, I have a (Kevin) Bacon Number. Thank you Mr. Duckie!! (His is 2!!)

3. My daughter is named for a Celtic goddess, but most people who hear her name think she is named for a Fleetwood Mac song. Can you guess which one?

Haha. Well a few years ago I went through the drive through and a kid(probably 18 or 19, I was 20) in there smarted off to me. Well, I got out of the car, went inside and shoved him into the cake cooler. Broke the glass. I was related to an employee at the time, so luckily all I got was a permant ban from being inside.

Same here! Some of the sh*t I've survived would have killed a regular person (few examples - shot, stabbed, run over by a bus, several ODs, almost drowned, 2 heart attacks & once fell off the top of an 8-storey building and walked away with just a broken nose), plus I've broken dozens of bones over the years...

What's with all of the members being impossible to kill/difficult to injure here? Do we have a secret contingent of posters who were part of the Weapon X project?! :P

- I've been inside the cargo area of a plane. I walk underneath planes docked at the airport all day. I've loaded cargo onto planes, operated machinery, and driven on the tarmac. Working at the airport is not as glamorous as it sounds.

- I won $400 worth of basketball tickets one day, and then sold them on NBAtickets.com because I don't go to basketball games. I'd rather the cash.

- I've seen Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragonball, in real life.

- I've worked 7 days a week on at least 3 different occassions.

Hrm, tough one. I'll just pick 3 at random and come back with more later.

1. My sentimental favorite movie(s) of all time is Young Guns I and II. They really shouldn't be watched separately.

2. She's not the hottest chick I've ever seen, but I have a HUGE crush on Julia Louis-Dreyfus for some reason. She always catches my eye, and she's only gotten better with age. Doesn't hurt that I'm pretty hot for older chicks to start with. Chicks in general, really. But yeah, she's hot.

3. My tag team partner and I once got saved by Kevin Nash when we were getting beat down by Gene Snitsky.

There's a million other random factoids about me that nobody knows, those are just the first three that came to mind.

This is tough actually, first 3 I can think of

1. I love roller coasters, and ride them so much, it's probably not healthy. I go quite a bit to a couple parks in my state, but have gone to different roller coasters parks in atleast 6 different states in the US, and one in Canada, and am planning on going to more

2. I have 2 pet rats. Their both trained and are just as much a part of the family as my dog is

3. I'm a total Batman nerd. I've seen every batman related tv show, every movie, cartoon and live action, multiple times. I've played every batman video game there is, and the arkham series is my favorite game series of all time. I have read through every comic I can get my hands on, and the ones I can't, I google and read summaries of them

I too enjoy Batman quite a bunch. Also, your post gave me an excuse to do 3 more.

1. Not counting Annuals, one-shots, and mini-series issues, I have every "mainstream" Superman comic released from 1986 (starting with "Man of Steel issue #1) through 2010. That's the main books - Superman, Action Comics, Adventures of Superman, Superman: Man of Steel, Superman/Batman, and Superman: Man Of Tomorrow - and by itself adds up to almost one thousand. Adding in the specials and mini-series and issues from the 60s/70s that I do have, and it's probably about 1500. That doesn't include "Superman Adventures" based on the cartoon show, or "Action Comics Weekly" from 1988 or so, when it briefly wasn't a Superman-centric book. My goal is to have a complete run from 1986 through the end of the "real" DCU in 2011. Stuff from the 70s and before is getting harder and harder to find, so I don't obsess over collecting Silver Age stuff. I have some, but it's not my main focus.

2. Between my wife and I, we have about 700 DVDs.

3. I got my first tattoo when I was 15.

2. I love Assassin's Creed, like a lot.

3. My initials are KLM (sing your ABC's)

Round 2?

1. Not only am I related to rebels and "traitors", I'm also related to one of Norway's richest salve traders from the Norway-Denmark union slave trade period, she is also one of the richest women to live in Norway. Her wealth was spent by her son or grandson (don't quite recall who) by drinking it all up on alcohol.

2. The first time I was introduced to Dungeons and Dragons was the year Gary Gygax died, so 4th edition was my first edition, and. After playing AD&D 2nd edition, read D&DO, AD&D 1st edition, 3.5 and play tested Next since the first play package. I do find a lot of people's complaints about 4th edition completely silly.

3. I am a ginger, so I have no soul and my skin easily burn to crisp.

Leo656
07-17-2014, 02:45 AM
That's JUST my Superman collection, though... which is large but less than half of my TOTAL comic collection. Next largest chunk would probably be Batman, then TMNT, then Sonic, then "Misc." of all different DC stuff. Altogether, it's somewhere between 8 and 10 thousand books. Most of it's been in storage for a couple years but I have it all catalogued, I just haven't bothered to count them all in a while, plus I inherited my Dad's collection when he died and I haven't counted those yet. It's a couple hundred books, though, mostly 80s and 90s Spider-Man (Yay! :)) and Spawn (Um... yay.).

I'll do a few more:

1. I was AIM chat buddies with two Olympic gymnasts back in 2003 or so, Dominique Moceanu (1996 team) and Jamie Dantzscher (2000 team). We'd also send each other real letters and gifts and stuff. I really miss that. I still have it all in a box. We fell out of touch during one of the times I had no internet for a couple years. :ohwell: Dom and I re-connected on Facebook the last couple years, but it's not exactly the same. Although when I went to her book signing a couple years ago, when she saw me she exclaimed "Hey! Rikki Roxx!" and gave me a big hug. That was awesome.

2. My mother used to give me Lauenbrau beer as a baby to keep me quiet. This has been verified by several family members. It definitely explains why I already had a taste for beer at age 5.

3. I'm terrific at impressions. I can do pretty much anyone if I hear them talk for a couple minutes.

BubblyShell22
07-17-2014, 08:52 AM
1. I'm an avid reader and have been since I first learned how to read.

2. I learned some French from watching the Canadian version of Sesame Street. I can count to twelve in French, know the words for "moon" "hello" "goodbye" and "Good night." When I was little, Dad and I would say good night to each other in French. I told him about that one day, and he said he remembered that, so one night before bed, he said good night to me in French, and I said it back. Ah, memories.

3. My sis, bro, and I used to record ourselves on our old tape recorder. We would sing songs and we even made up a song of our own once. I even remember us singing the original TMNT theme song together.

Well since some of us are adding a few more facts I'll add some as well.

Apparently when I was 2 (mom told me this) I took a paper clip that was opened and stuck it's in my right ear, so it's kinda sensitive. It hurts when a fly buzzes by it or when I hear a low vibrating noise (not sure how to describe it)
I also learned some French, and I think I can easily learn German and Italian. Like I can recognize what some German/Italian phrases mean in English.
I can play tetris for hours. The game is just so addicting to me.

1. When I was four and five years old, I slept with an assortment of stuffed toys. One of them was Rainbow Brite. Just so you know, I'm omniscient, I can hear you snickering, and all of my enemies are dead. Just so we're clear.

2. I have a four-inch scar going down my palm where I dropped an open boxcutter on my hand. The blade got snagged on the wristbands I always wear; otherwise, I'd most likely be dead, as the cut stopped just above the wrist. I lost a ludicrous amount of blood, and I was really shaken up for weeks. I still have a hard time talking about it. No hospital, no stitches, just butterflies, Nu-Skin, and a f*cking ton of medical tape and gauze, because I'm an asshole who doesn't go to the hospital. It's ugly. This paragraph took five minutes to type, as I kept getting light-headed. :ohwell:

3. I've been arrested several times for (officially) drunken disorderly, misdemeanor assault, and making terroristic threats. Other than a couple hours in holding, and a couple grand in fines, though, I managed to argue down and beat everything. That was all back in my late-teens and early-20s, although about two years ago I got picked up and held for still owing money on an old fine. That was some bullsh*t.

Hmm, tough to decide on just three!

1) I've got a son called Caleb and he is my favourite person in the world. He turns two next month.

2) I haven't shaved since last Christmas. My beard's been trimmed a handful of times to keep my boss happy, but a razor hasn't touched my face for 7 months. It's not the greatest of beards, thin on the cheeks and long at the bottom, with one or two patches, but it's mine and it's here to stay.

3) I've got a few tattoos. Eight to be exact. And I regret none!

Round two:

1: I am a witch. Yes, it's true, I'm an honest-to-Goddess witch. Wiccan with Celtic Shamanist leanings, to be specific. I read Tarot, cast spells, the whole thing. So for those who post disrespectful and other "mean" things, just remember- I CAN get revenge from afar..... :tevil::ttwisted::tshifty:

2: I've played D&D off and on since I was in high school, and it's part of what got me into comics and BACK into TMNT, because I used to game at a local comic book shop and picked up a TPB of Spider-Man one night when I was between turns in the game. It's getting into comics that introduced me to the Marvel site, where I met some fellow fans and writers. It was one of those net-friends (thanks Feral Female!) who convinced me to dust of an old TMNT fic and led me to rediscover my love for them!

3: My favorite movie of all time is Spaceballs. In fact, I can quote the entire movie line for line! (As if my siggy didn't make it obvious.) Actually, I'm a fan of just about anything from Mel Brooks. I love parodies!

I got random facts fo' dayz.

1. Our dog is named after Riley from The Boondocks. That's my wife for you.

2. I always wear a thong when I wrestle. Reason being, it's the only thing that gives me the support I need, for some reason. Early on, whenever I would get hit with a suplex, my nuts would bang together (dead serious, and ow). Since suplexes are like 80% of wrestling, I knew I had to do something about that. As an added benefit, the lines don't show through your gear and it just looks better.

3. I met AFI before they got famous, when they opened for The Offspring at the Stone Pony in 1997. As a bonus, we met the guys from Offspring about 5 minutes later. Awesome group of guys, all of 'em.

I admire your dedication to your craft, dude... I don't know how in the blue blazes people wear those things without going nuts. Though I guess maybe it'd be more comfortable for guys? I mean, without getting graphic, you sort of get what I mean right? Less of an issue with uh... the buttfloss riding up?

Just tell me you ain't one of those dudes who has issues with VPL on gals.

Nah, not on girls, but for some reason on guys it looks weird. That's another one of those "rules" about wrestling: Absolutely no undergarments poking through your gear, it looks terrible. A lotta guys just go commando, but I couldn't do that.

And yeah, I get exactly what you mean. It's kind of annoying, but I imagine it's worse for chicks... more spots to ride up and all that...

The inside joke in "The Biz" is, that between the spandex, stripperwear, shaving, tanning, gym time and hair maintenance, wrestlers are more or less just a bunch of teenage girls.

Let's see here. Three random things aout myself...

1. I never had detention at all in school. I'd cringe whenever the folks I hung out with talked out of turn because I hated to see anyone get in trouble. I guess I probably would have gotten in trouble for sleeping in class but well, none of my teachers ever found out because of the whole blind thing. Sat up while I slept too. I didn't do it allot. It was mostly because of allergy meds.

2. For some reason, cats tend to chatter a whole lot around me. I have no idea why, but they tend to rub all over me and they don't quit running their mouths unless they're asleep. Yes, I love cats. Hate it when they talk during TV shows or movies though.

3. Love narrating books. I've been a voluntary reader for teachers who want to instill a love for reading in their students for quite a while. Sometimes, they'll have me narrate things in order to bring kiddos who have been absent up to speed and sometimes it's just during free time or while they're grading things. I listen to a tun of audio books, but I also enjoy narrating them for fun. Go figure. Had to quit doing that when I decided to become a teacher and I really miss it. I read for a tun of teachers and have been told I can come back any time, but school is really keeping me busy lately. If I had spare time, I'd totally be doing more of this. It's seriously the most fun I think I've ever had.

I was raised a vegetarian, even as a baby, and didn't start eating meat until I was around 8 or 9 years old.
I had my first pet at under five years old -- a ferret. Two, actually, but the second one came later and didn't last as long either.

1. I once got in trouble for something I didn't even do. My music teacher was giving us music books and when it was time to pass them back, I was putting mine on a pile, and it slipped off and fell on the floor. I bent to pick it up and put it back on the pile again. The teacher accused me of throwing a fit and throwing it on the floor which I didn't do at all. I insisted that I didn't do anything, and he sent me to the principal. My parents met with the principal and the teacher and told him that I'd never do that and that I was just passing the book back, and it fell off the pile and that I went to put it back on. I wasn't angry or mad, and even if I was, I'd never do something like that. Luckily, it was sorted out, but it made me angry that this teacher thought I did that.

2. I have gotten detention once in all my years of high school for lying about having finished homework when I didn't. That was the only time I ever got a detention though.

3. I did get sent to the principal's office for slapping a girl who was teasing my friends, but later on, the teacher admitted the girl deserved it.

1. I've had detention multiple times

2. I was suspened multiple times. I once got suspended for skipping school. Which meant I didn't have to go, which is what I wanted...so kinda stupid on their part.

Ooh. School trouble facts.

In elementary I got sent to the principle's for drilling a pencil into a hole in a desk that was already there. T-T
In junior high I got sent again because I kicked one of my friends. It was just a playful 'knock it off' kind of kick, since he tried to embarass me in front of a guy I thought was cute.
And can't really think of anymore facts about getting in trouble at school. So here's just another random fact: Since I was 16 I started to draw my stars upside down and still always do.

I couldn't get up off my seat as it was only bothering me. So there I was just sitting extremely still, not doing anything. Eventually my Dad managed to attack it with a Fly Swat.

Oh man, school trouble. Heehee.

Three girls once tried to fight me in the middle of algebra class because their iPods were confiscated but my game boy [which I had permission from both the teacher and my counsellor to have] was not. They shoved me down and took it from me, so I slammed one of them into the overhead projector and knocked it over. The fight just went on from there; I didn't get in any trouble, but those girls sure did.

A bully who often targeted me in the middle of class once decided to target my best friend instead. As soon as the bell rang for the next class, I shoved him into the wall of lockers, knocked him over, and kicked him repeatedly until he got up. THEN I slammed his head into the metal doorframe that connected the double doors at the end of the hall. A single teacher saw this, and it was one who happened to know both of us, and he told me "I won't tell anybody I saw this as long as you never do it again. He deserved it."

I once got a hall monitor into trouble. I had a chain attached to my wallet to keep it from getting stolen, but according to her this was dress code, so she WENT INSIDE THE BATHROOM AFTER ME when I was on my way to the bathroom, repeatedly told me to remove the chain and give it to her, I told her no since I bought that wallet with my own money and it was an expensive wallet. So what did she do? She walked over to the exit door to the bathroom and blocked it off with her arms so I couldn't get out. "Give it to me or you're not getting out," she said, and since I've always been incredibly short, I just ducked walked underneath her arms; she followed me into class and took me to the office [making a scene in the middle of a lecture, even!] and got me suspended for "harming school personnel" because she lied and said I hit her to get out of the bathroom. THE NEXT DAY the school called my mother and apologised, saying they made a judgement error and that the hall monitor was the one in the wrong for blocking off the bathroom exit for me. I was put back in school a day later.

1. I once spent a weekend in the studio with my friends' band back in high school doing back-up vocals for their first album. The band broke up not long after, and the album was never released, but it was awesome. Early-Pennywise style.

2. My favorite cartoon as a kid was Masters of the Universe, and it's still probably my sentimental favorite. I'm fully aware of the technical limitations and completely don't give a sh*t. Rotoscoping over mo-cap CGI all... f***ing... day.

3. Most of my signature moves/finishing moves are named after song/album titles, or comic book references: "End Of Days"/Grapevine DDT (named after a Fozzy song from their first record), "Ride The Lightning"/Tag Team Backdrop Cutter (obvious Metallica reference), "Crisis Kick"/Superkick (DC's "Crisis On Infinite Earths"), "Headbanger's Ball"/DDT (old-school MTV reference), and "The Final Crisis"/Cradle DDT (after DC's "Final Crisis").

I'm really, really good at dropping people on their f***ing head and giving it a catchy name, basically.

I wish a lot of the top boxers, today, would bring back more hype to the sport because I'm not a fan of MMA. I don't like MMA because of the grapple technique, it slows the pace of the fight and not fun watching. I like seeing punches being exchanged (or even kicking, like with kickboxing).

I, just, don't like how boxers like Mayweather don't care to bring more integrity to the sport and fight the fights that the public demands (Mayweather vs Pacman). Instead, boxing reporters are paid to bring some BS back-story as to why the two fighters that are fighting make a good boxing match.

When the tsunami hit Sendai, I had originally planned to go there that day, but back in December (2010), I was sick and on the day it happened, I was asked to work to make up the sick day. I could've drowned or whatever from the tsunami if I hadn't have worked when it was supposed to have been my day off.

At one time I would spend an entire day off (or even two) doing nothing but play video games for hours at a time, only pausing (NOT stopping) to use the bathroom, or get something to eat. I'd turn it off only to sleep, usually after at least a 14-16 hour run....

Morrowind

I'm not a gamer, anymore...not since the PS1 and N64. I did try that game on the PC because I used to play Might and Magic type games that are similar. But, there was too much freedom on that game. First, the journal was terrible, I didn't know which quest to complete because the journal was terrible at managing tasks...it doesn't separate the quests by city or anything, just, what you got first. Also, the map system sucked. Then, I got lost, wandering around everywhere, and my main goal of the game was to pick-pocket everyone and avoid jail-time.

Leo656

I loved Morrowind but I'm scared to go back. I spent 80 hours on it and loved every second, but you're right, that quest journal was f***ing terrrrrrrible! I absolutely love doing side quests in RPGs, but it got to the point where I avoided talking to anyone because I didn't want yet another quest on top of the 7 or 8 I was already juggling, and if I had three busy days in a row at work, I couldn't remember what the hell I was doing last in the game when I came back to it. I loved the scope of the game, I love the concept of such a big, wide-open world where you can eventually go everywhere and do whatever you want... but the lack of a coherent logbook made the entire thing way more overwhelming than it had to be. I've had Oblivion and Skyrim on my shelf for a long time now, because I want to play them, but holy sh*t, I don't think I was half done with Morrowind and I can't even remember what I was doing last time I played it, so I'm kind of intimidated to start either of the others, although they look fantastic.

When I was ten I would have been balls-deep in those games, for sure. As it is I love what I've played and appreciate them for what they are, but I don't know if I can give them the attention they deserve, honestly. I definitely want to.

Let's see... I'll make this one about injuries.

1. I have a chipped C6 vertebrae in my neck. I first found out about it in around 2004 or so when I had an X-Ray done. I'd had neck problems for years since high school, and never really knew why; apparently I blew out my neck around 1997 when I was doing amateur wrestling and just never got it checked out. Every time I move my head, my neck makes a ton of noise like twigs snapping and glass cracking. And it gets pretty stiff sometimes. But on the whole I'm not in a lot of pain from it, so long as I get chiropractic adjustments once a week or so, and it apparently I'm fine wrestling with it as long as I don't get dropped straight down on my head too much. The chipped piece is still in there, but apparently it's lodged in a spot where it's not going to hurt anything. Not sure how that works, but whatever, been wrestling for five years and it hasn't gotten any worse, so I guess it's okay. I don't plan on getting neck surgery, or any surgery, if I can help it, but neck surgery is the worst, you're never the same afterwards, so if I can just deal with the problem, I will.

2. The first and only bone I ever broke was when I crushed the top of my right middle finger in 2009. My boss and I were carrying a huge heavy piece and my finger got caught under it when we set it on the concrete floor. All I felt was a pinch, and I went to flick off what I thought was a piece of shrink wrap that was on my finger, but I stopped just in time to realize my entire fingernail had ripped through the skin, and then blood started gushing out. My boss dropped me off at a clinic, where the doctor actually cracked me up when he took one look and said, "Wow, that's way too f*cked up for me to fix, you need to go to the hospital, right now." I still only thought I'd ripped the nail out, until the hospital showed me the X-Ray. They're like, "You crushed your finger"; I'm like, "I don't feel like it's broken," they're like, "You didn't break it, you crushed it," and the X-Ray looked like my finger was full of buckshot. They figured I was either in shock or possibly severed a nerve, because other than some throbbing it didn't actually hurt. I think I severed the nerve because it never ended up hurting really bad, despite the fact they insisted I'd need to take Oxycontin twice a day for about a month because it would be "unbearable"; I never finished the prescription and ended up throwing a few of them away, I just got sick of taking them and they made me really nasty. So anyways, they shot two long needles full of painkillers into my hand, pulled out the hanging nail, scrubbed it all with steel wool and disinfectant, packed the meat back in, stuck the nail back into the nail bed so that a new nail could grow in, and sewed it all back together. Basically, if you ever bite halfway into a hot dog and just let the end dangle, that's what my finger looked like. Healed fine, but it's about half a centimeter longer than the finger on the left hand now.

3. When I was 5, this kid I was friends with accidentally set my face on fire. He was out of the room and his older brother was f*cking with a lighter and set the inside of a batting helmet on fire, then panicked and threw it on the floor. My friend came in and put the thing on my head, horsing around, and the burning plastic dripped down and left a 6-inch burn from the top of my forehead to the tip of my nose. I forget what "degrees" of burns are, but basically there was a long, black line down the middle of my face where the skin was flaking off. I was really lucky, an inch either way and I could have been blind. I only missed a day of school, and we got this awesome ointment from the doctor so it healed great, never even left a scar. Point of fact, I have really weird/awesome skin, in that most of my scars healed to almost invisible, and the only ones that still are visible are ones that were *really* deep, like when I dropped the boxcutter on my hand. I heal pretty well in general, and I'm really grateful for that.

Leo656

 Honestly the burn hurt the worst, both because 1. Fire, and 2. I was barely 5.

The neck thing hurt the least because I was used to having a sore neck by then from lifting and amateur wrestling, so I thought if anything I just had sprained it. But yeah, when your chiropractor comes in with your X-Rays, and before showing them to you, gets a real serious look and says, "When were you in a car accident?", you get a little nervous. When I saw it, he was telling me about the whiplash trauma and how my neck has an irregular curve between my shoulders and the base of my skull, and I'm like, "Yeah, clearly, I see that, but what's the deal with the hole in my neck? He's like, "Actually, it looks worse than it is, the whiplash trauma is actually causing more of the discomfort," because pinched nerves, etc. etc. I was like, "Um, I'm actually trying to get into wrestling... can I do that with a chipped neck?" He's all, "Oh, yeah, I work with lots of wrestlers, that's way more common than you'd think, just don't get dropped straight down on your neck and you should be fine." It honestly doesn't affect me much, other than all the noise and some stiffness. I've actually taken some moves I probably shouldn't have taken, but so far so good. I definitely need to keep getting adjusted every so often, though.

And the finger just sort of throbbed unless I banged it on something. Pretty sure I tweaked the nerve. I only missed a day of work, I just only did office moves and warehouse work for a couple weeks so I could push stuff on wheels and drive the forklift, until I could carry things without my hand throbbing. What's cool is, the boss had me claim a week of workman's comp, even though I was only out a day, he just paid me in cash, so I essentially got an extra check; pretty sure he felt bad that he was the one carrying the piece with me. It's fine now, though, just tingles a little sometimes if I'm typing a lot.

Sometimes stuff you think would hurt really bad doesn't hurt at all, and stuff you think wouldn't hurt at all is ridiculous. Like one time at wrestling practice about 4 years ago, I disjointed my ring finger, just kinda popped it out and right back in as I was getting off the mat, and it hurt SO MUCH WORSE than when I crushed the other one. All I did was kinda jam it, but it throbbed for weeks and I could barely move it. Pain's so weird.

Well here's my first round:
1. I love Egyptian art/culture/history and have done more than one Egyptian stylized piece of art complete with translated hieroglyphics. I've got a 2 volume set of Egyptian hieroglyphic dictionaries. Originally got into it after getting my first Pharaoh Hound.

2. I ONLY have ridiculous phobias- I'm afraid of clowns, zombies, mouse droppings, cockroaches, and a few others. Zombies were at the top of my list and I had a multi-stage contingency plan set up for the zombie outbreak- it included a building only accessible by roof hatches rigged with a pulley system to bring up food & supplies, we'd camp out in X-Large Dog houses and the roof had excellent sniper cover plus was close to lots of guns, ammo and food/supplies. The plan fell apart after a couple stores shut down, lol. I've been working on getting over my phobia and have made a lot of progress by playing zombie video games, my goal is to conquer it enough to watch the Walking Dead. I sooo want to watch it and last time I tried I was having nightmares and freakouts for weeks. Cause that's a sexy thing for a grown woman to do!

3. When I was a dog trainer (before I got burned out because people are idiots) I created and wrote the dog training program and was the trainer of other dog trainers for the company Petsense.

Edit** I forgot I wanted to put these in but I'm afraid I'd forget them before round 2, lol:

I agree with the flying, but, driving to the destination is the most memorable (probably, because it's the longest part of the trip). I like to make frequent stops to try out new foods, on the way. 1) I actually have a fear of gravity

Barophobia is defined as an irrational and overwhelming fear of gravity. There are 2 types: one where they fear that they will be crushed by the gravitational pull when it becomes too great; and two, they fear that gravity will simply disappear and they will simply float away.

I have number 2 the fear that gravity will fail and I will float away. It's the main reason why I hardly leave the house. It's a really stupid phobia, I don't know anyone else who has it. I also get scared at the thought of being stuck on a planet in the middle of a big universe as well.

I hear ya where gravity is concerned. I've got the floating away thing under control, unless we're talking about jumping on trampolines. I hated those when I was a kid and still do. I've always had the irrational fear of floating away after leaping into the air, so I just can't mess around with those. I could probably handle bouncy castles.

I love having multiple consoles!

1. We currently have 16 (added the Sega 32x recently) consoles hooked up right now in our living room. All are hooked up through AV switchers & HDMI to 2 TVs- a large flatscreen & an old TMNT CRT TV for the retro gaming, but we have over 30 systems in our collection. I'm going to try to name them all.... Atari 2600, Commodore 64, Atari 5200, Vectrex, NES, SNES, Sega Genesis 1, 2, 3, Sega CD, Sega 32x, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, N64, PS1 original, PS1 mini, PS2 fat, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS4, Wii, GameCube, Orginal Gameboy (yellow), Clear GameBoy pocket, GameBoy Color, Sega Game Gear, GBA, GBA SP, DS Lite, 3DS.... I feel like I'm missing at least 1 or 2 but can't for the life of me remember them right now, lol.

2. I am Bipolar and think society as a whole should be more open to talking about mental illnesses.

3. We have a really cool Manx cat that literally just fell into our laps. She jumped out of the attic in the garage into my lap and we adopted her & named her Katniss since she is such a brave little scrapper.

Thanks, but I wouldn't consider our game collection anywhere near exhaustive... there are still so many, many things we'd like to have but don't yet. We just get what we can where we find it. My hubby & I really enjoy this hobby. It's a fun thing for us to do together.

We tried out so many cat names for this little cat, none of them felt right until I thought of Katniss. The first day we had her she marched right up to one of our dogs (a 60 lb dog) who was barking at her and looked right at him, rubbed her head on his snout, then wacked him in the face. She doesn't scare easily, lol. Our younger dog & the cat love to rough house together if you can believe it, 50 lb German Shepherd/Lab mix wrestling with a small cat & it's the cat that wins, every time... Cracks me up!!

2.My first pets ever were two small fish when I was six and they died two days later because the pet store gave us the wrong type of food.

3.My right leg is taller than my left where it connects to the knee, so I always look kind of off. It's not noticeable from a distance, but it's noticeable if you look at my shoulders. Think Toa Hordika. My shoulders are like that, one slightly higher up than the other. All because of my knee.

That's all, but I'll think of more later.:tgrin:

My better half will often hug our gigantic Ragdoll. He's a very sweet cat and puts up with the hug for about two seconds before backing out of her arms while still purring. The Tonkinese loves hugs, however. He let's everyone cradle him in their arms like a baby, and when standing in the kitchen or wherever, he'll often stand on his hind legs whining to be picked up and cradled. Okay, some more random facts.

1. I've had a tonsillectomy twice.

2. Every time I had my ears pierced, my ears would close up again. By that, I mean I would keep those piercing studs in for the allotted amount of time required (6 months, wasn't it?), but after the 6 months, if I take them out and don't put anything else in, they close up again overnight. I actually had to keep them in for an entire year to prevent that from happening again. I was told that that was a sign of my having a high immune system or something like that. Go fig.

3. Hm, I've never had the flu and hope it stays that way. I also haven't had a flu shot in 18 years. I just chose not to do it anymore since I always felt miserable and sick every time I got one. Wow, Ssjup, that's a lot of consoles. my soon to be sister-in-law has a tun of them and I'm amazed she can keep up with them all at the same time. Like you, I sort of go through one after the other if I can help it.I just wish I had been more organized with them. I hope when I do finally decide on moving back home and possibly settling, I can get all my old game systems, my own place, a decent job so I can have my own place, and set them all up...somehow. lolYeah, I don't much like Mario in the games because they gave him such an annoying voice. Ilike him better on the old animated series though.Captain Lou Albano voiced him in the Super Mario Bros Super Show. I liked that voice for him too.

That aside, I never thought much of Mario in a general sense, but by the mid-90s, I'd just grown tired of him and felt he was overrated. I blame Super Mario RPG for really causing me to feel that way. I hated the fact that Luigi wasn't even in the game. Well, he wasn't playable anyway and was only in the game's manual and at the end of the game, Luigi is the one starting off the parade during the credits

You know, when I got Mario Paint when it first came out, and you had those stamps....there was one of Mario. I repainted the whole thing so that it'd be Luigi. lol

blindturtle02
10-29-2014, 01:57 PM
haha, yeah I also felt like Luigi got the shaft at times. I had no idea how little they'd used him in some of the games. I figured they'd be somewhat like the show, and he was in Super Mario, Mario III, and Super Mario World in nearly every episode, if not all.

You can't be slightly autistic. You're either on the spectrum or you're not. If you've been diagnosed with Asperger's, you're looking at "high functioning" autism. If you haven't been diagnosed at all, don't call yourself "slightly" autistic. It's a diagnosis, not a personality trait.

There, 3 random facts about me. They are kinda boring, but that's how my life rolls. :rolling:

Better be careful of those skunks, Duckie! lol I think there's one that lives close to my place because of the stench that occasionally wafts into the guest bedroom even if the window is closed. Hmm,upon further contemplation, I'd say he lives very close!

Yeah, there are several of them at various locations along my route. One of which apparently lives VERY close to our own apartment complex, as we sometimes smell it outside our front door. Probably nosing around by the dumpster. I've only encountered them a few times, and it's usually either VERY early in the morning, or at night if I'm out and about town after dark. Some wonder how I can walk home at night and not worry about things like getting assaulted or whatever, but my BIGGEST worry is actually running into a skunk! Because when I worked at McD's, I dreaded the prospect of having to call on my way to work and tell them "I can't come in today- I have to go burn my clothes and take a tomato bath now...." :trazz::tlol:

The coolest thing I've seen on the route are the kestrels, though. They are a sort of very small falcon that eats rodents, lizards, and small birds. And I've even seen a couple of kites- another type of bird of prey. That's the one GOOD thing about the small town I live in- we get lots of local wildlife IN town! (The armadillo was rooting around in someone's front yard!)

That's not all of them though. He said every one ever made. I wanna see all of them. Now of course if he just means the main films Supeman the movie, Superman II, etc, Returns, Man of Steel. Well that's too easy. So do I.

There haven't been a ton otherwise though, and they're not impossible to find... the Kirk Alyn serials, the "Mole Men" feature with George Reeves, the animated movies and, if you count it, the Supergirl movie. The hardest ones to find might be the Alyn serials. For some reason those were the ones I picked up last. They're okay; just super cheap.

Now, if someone has them all in every format they were produced in, now that's an accomplishment. That laserdisc of the Supergirl International Cut would set someone back a pretty penny.

Guess I'll start with the bomb first...

1. In 2001, while doing my student teaching, I had a brain tumor (not to mention headaches for 2 mos straight. When it was removed, it was roughly the size of an egg. While they were removing it, the doctors nicked my optic nerve, so I have no peripheral vision on my right side. After this, I did not go into teaching (but it was more or less an excuse to get out of the field).

2. I know, or should say have known, 4 languages. I use English and Dutch on a daily basis, but I've forgotten a lot of my Spanish and Japanese out of lack of use.

3. I married someone I met in a chatroom in 1999. Our relationship started in 2005. We got married in 2013. ;) Most drawn-out relationship EVAR. >.<

Hmm... thinkin'... ah, here we go.

1. When I was like, 3, I used to wake up really early in the morning and eat whatever I could find in the fridge that was in arms' reach. Mostly frozen hot dogs, sticks of butter, cake frosting from the jar, and mayo. Luckily this was a brief, passing thing.

2. My favorite TV show until I was like 6 was The Monkees; I used to watch it religiously. I actually preferred it to watching cartoons.

3. I learned to play video games before I could read or write. My Dad taught me how to play Frogger and Donkey Kong on the Atari when I was about 3.

Don't even know how many of these I've done.

1. First video game I ever played was Street Fighter II on Super Nintendo. I was about 5. Used Ryu all the way to Bison, but couldn't beat him at the time.

2. My first "girlfriend" was in kindergarten.

3. I'd rather be alone than around a group of people.

Haha Leo656 I loved The Monkees as a kid too :)

1.) Walked on an old staircase that collapsed last year. Walked around for 5 days thinking it was just a sprain before finally checking into a hospital. Got an x-ray & discovered I'd infact broken both legs (left tibea/right fibea) & have a scary condition where I don't feel internal pain properly (hence being able to walk for days after). Massive operation. Getting the bolts out next Feb. Not looking forward to it.

2.) Met Greg Cipes & Johnny Knoxville. Met Cipes at Armageddon Expo the other month, he looks much older in person but has the voice of a pre-teen. You instantly wanna hang out with him. Told him Mikey is my fave turtle (which isn't true) and he said "Me too!" Met Knoxville in 2009, I asked him at the bar if he was him, he said "Yeah, man. Want a shot?" and gave me one of the few bourbon shots he ordered. I made a joke & he laughed (LOUD) but can't f*ckin remember what the joke was. Was gonna ask for a photo later but he had a lot of people around him.

3.) Have never owned a dog before but getting one for the new year. Any suggestions on a good breed?

You can't be slightly autistic. You're either on the spectrum or you're not. If you've been diagnosed with Asperger's, you're looking at "high functioning" autism. If you haven't been diagnosed at all, don't call yourself "slightly" autistic. It's a diagnosis, not a personality trait.

Heh, likewise, but reversed. Have sometimes wondered what he grew into, darn some people for not being able to be found on Facebook so I can take a quick peek.

Celeb edition:

1. As an infant I met and was held by Shari Lewis, the lady with the Lamb Chop puppet and kids show.

2. I've met Jason and Grant from Syfy's Ghost Hunters when they did a meet and greet before a live Halloween broadcast in my area. My friend (who went with me) and I stuck around for lunch and afterward on a hunch ended up seeing many of the other folks from the show, as well as some from the international version, and Josh Gates who my friend freaked out over and I tried not to look embarrassed by her freakout.

3. (I'll make this count) I have a grandfather who once met The Three Stooges in an elevator long ago. His only comment about it was always that they were really short. lol

Wow. No need to be rude about it, Net. Brooke was probably diagnosed as slightly autistic so that's why she says that.

Here's my turn:

1. My grandma is convinced we're related to Mila Kunis. I don't know if it's true, but it would be pretty cool if it was.

Get a mutt... they last longer and have less health problems. Also, consider getting a rescue. The breed itself shouldn't be as important as finding a dog that fits with your personality and time limits (e.g., don't get a dog that needs a lot of exercise if you aren't going to bother walking it).

Yeah, shelter dogs are great. My wife picked one up from a local shelter about a year and a half ago and he's just the best. He was about two years old, we think, somebody must have been mean to him because he used to be really skittish and he still acts a little nervous sometimes, but he's lots of fun. He's like a Beagle mixed with an Australian Shepherd mixed with something else. Dude's got a six-foot vertical leap.

Not long after we got him, the shelter got closed down amidst allegations of mistreatment. I don't like to think about what would've happened to him if we didn't get him. Even the best of those places have a really hard time getting their animals adopted. Adopting a shelter dog is a really great thing to do. They need the help.

^^ This. I used to volunteer at an animal shelter for a while (it got to be too much for me and I couldn't handle the bullsh*t internal politics and backstabbing with some of the other volunteers, so I ended up chucking it in) - anyway, there's nothing greater in the world than being able to give an animal a second chance at a loving home. So many pets get dumped for the most ridiculous reasons.

Different breeds have different needs, but regardless of breed, they're all going to love you with everything they have.

I'll also say that it doesn't hurt to give special consideration to dogs with black coats - both black dogs and cats have the lowest rates of adoption, because people don't consider them as striking or they think they're bad luck/scary, which is just absurd.

There are five cats currently in this house. Four are black, and that wasn't even intentional. lol (Though one is my sister's cat and two are grown kittens of hers. The oldest black cat is unrelated.)

Not only that, over the last number of years most visiting cats that belong to neighbors have mostly been black. One, the mother of our oldest, is now gone, but we got new neighbors this summer behind us and a new black cat is hanging out on our deck swing. So far no bad luck.

In regards to dog recommendations:

I personally prefer purebreds from a breeder, because you know what you're getting better, and the breeder can evaluate whether or not you're fit for the breed as well. Also, a breeder that knows what they're doing has healthy dogs, and you don't have to risk a shelter dog that could develop something nasty. [Overall health is also varies from breed to breed. Some breeds are more susceptible to all sorts of problems, others are much healthier on the whole.] Information on the breed is much more reliable and accurate if you're getting a purebred, so you'll know what to expect in terms of size, grooming, and other needs.

On that note, mixes don't always have better health. That's reliant on the parents and what type of genes are being passed down. Yes, it's generally true that mixes have a larger gene pool and that the recessive diseases won't get passed on, but it still relies on the parents. With a shelter dog you never know what you're going to get. The animal might have behavioural problems that can be hard for a first-time dog owner to handle. On the flip side, you can also get an absolutely wonderful animal as well. I personally am not a gambler when it comes to an animal I will invest 10 years or more in.

What breed of dog you get should depend on what you want a dog for, or what you want in a dog. Other factors, like whether or not you possess cats, other pets, or children, are also important to consider. Some dogs do not have the patience for children, and herding dogs will try to herd your cat.

Some personal recommendations:
-The Labrador Retriever (http://dogsindepth.com/sporting_dog_breeds/labrador_retriever.html) is generally considered a great breed for most needs. They are the most popular breed in the world for a reason. In fact, they are among my top picks for my next dog [alongside the Saint Bernard (http://dogsindepth.com/working_dog_breeds/saint_bernard.html), Leonberger (http://dogsindepth.com/molossoid_dog_breeds/leonberger.html), Australian Shepherd (http://dogsindepth.com/herding_dog_breeds/australian_shepherd.html), Japanese Akita (http://dogsindepth.com/spitz_dog_breeds/japanese_akita.html)]
-My family has had so many Dachshunds (http://dogsindepth.com/hound_dog_breeds/dachshund.html), and they are a great breed. Small, adorable, and generally easy to handle. They tend to be diggers, though, as they were bred for hunting badger.
-Pugs (http://dogsindepth.com/toy_dog_breeds/pug.html) are great if you want a lap dog. They were literally bred to be companion animals.
-I try to remain unbiased, but I've got a Beagle (http://dogsindepth.com/hound_dog_breeds/beagle.html) and I really have to recommend their calm natures. Seriously, mine puts up with everything, she has the patience of a saint.

I'd recommend spending time with your friends' or neighbours' dogs if you want to check out a variety of other breeds. I spent a weekend in a house with three Saint Bernards when I was in high school and never forgot the experience. I completely fell in love with them and I've wanted one ever since.

It's called a "spectrum" because there are varying degrees....

1) I'm 30. Which means I've been on this forum since I was 20. Man has my posting style changed in that decade.

2) I never thought I could love anyone sooooo much.....until my son was born. Sometimes he's a bit of a pill, but he's a good kid on the whole.

3) Hopefully soon I'll be able to finally cash in my company stock from my previous job. It's sucked that that money has just been hanging around there for almost 5 years.

Okay how about "mildly autistic"? Would that work?

I had a black and white cat named Socks and he was my baby.

As for dogs, my sis got Toby from a breeder, and he was the best dog ever. I considered him mine because I took care of him more than my sis did and still miss him to this day. He was just the best. But I agree that getting a dog from a shelter would be a good idea.

1. Seems like every pet we've ever let hang out outside has died horribly. I'm glad my cats are indoor cats these days. Tony is 18 and still going strong. Veeeery strong.

2. I get teary eyed during tender moments on Girl Meets World and other commedy shows. Oh and sad scenes in movies... And pretty much anything else.

3. I never get ice in my drinks when I get something at a McD's, Taco Bell, etc. Drink's already cold anyway and soda tends to get more watery if you don't drink it fast after you put ice in it. And I always check the bags before going home. Folks don't understand that a burger plain and dry means no cheese. Well the people taking orders get it, but it's those one or two guys in the kitchen goofing around, I guess.

I just think using "high functioning" or outright saying Asperger's is better. Saying "mildly" or "slightly" autistic makes it sound like a personality quirk or a mood, which it's not.

Ah, I see, Net. Good to know.

BT, we always check the bags before leaving too because you never know if they'll mess up your order. Only thing we don't do that for is Quizno's because we can see them putting it in the bag, so we always know the order is right.
