My favorite part, as always really, are the gags after the "credits". The 3 Amigos joke had me rolling.

They love their franchises. They ripped the third Matrix movie a new one, I expect the same treatment for the third TMNT.

It'll be a while until they do this one. They might do the 2007 TMNT though; that one's technically the 4th movie.

Also this rooftop venting session is fun, but it makes me realiza, Raphael the ONLY turtle of the four to get ANY character development whatsoever. The rest are left to split up a few food and pop-culture-related references and call it a day.

It's kinda sad that's true. I realised that myself when I watched the movie for the first time. And the the new movie is most likely going to do the same...

These aren't even movie sins...these are....I don't even know what the hell these are.

"Only teens have been spotted at the scenes" is a movie sin? And a chance to make a Catholic priest joke...

"April O'Neil isn't a porn star in this scene." WHAT THE #(*@?

I enjoy these sort of videos when they point out inconsistencies, like someone wearing a jacket, not wearing a jacket, wearing a jacket in a conversation, but so far the two that people have tried to do on 90's TMNT are just weak attempts to try and claim things are wrong when there's nothing there.

Sure, there ARE some things noted, like the TV not being plugged in and still playing as he runs away. But you can't take a 12 minute video and fill it with things that don't even apply to the topic and claim it's "everything wrong" with the movie.

Chief of police calling random shoplif....NO, HE'S CALLING THE GUY HE WANTS TO BACK OFF BECAUSE THIS GIVES HIM LEVERAGE! >_<

...and they never presumed Splinter was dead, just taken. Did these guys actually watch the movie when putting this one together?

/sigh
Seriously, I'm not saying 90s TMNT is a perfect movie with no errors and no movie sins, but this....is not a well made movie. Most "Everything wrong with" videos are fantastic, even some of movies I love, but this one is pretty lamely done.

I'd like to see a real one of these for the turtle films.

Perhaps the ones I've seen were from a different source, but used the same format, counting errors, plot holes, and things that didn't make sense.

Not random statements.

This video is pretty great. The only thing that bugged me is him saying Danny wouldn't know where the lair was. It's not light he was part of the organization that wrecked the place or anything... And I agree with the complaint about the leverage. Otherwise great vid. Bane Shredder was awesome

Pretty sure the porn star joke is referencing porn star April O'Neil.

They did presume Splinter dead in the movie. When Leo came back to tell everyone he's alive, they're like 'sure Leo, we all *think* he's alive'.

I will give you the chief Sterns one.

Makes me wonder how anyone can truly enjoy a movie when they over analise and pick it apart like that. I watched this movie the other day and I theroly enjoyed it... still. It may not have been the ultimate dark and gritty film we all wanted but in my opinion it got more right than it got wrong.

Man, I find this video hilarious. I remember going to see this movie with my brother in 2007 and being extremely disappointed in it. Weak plot and even weaker characters left a lot to be desired for me.

The movie wasn't bad, it just felt like an episode of the cartoon.

This movie would make a good 3-parter of the Nick cartoon.

Nah, I gotta disagree. I thought everything about the film was poorly written. I don't know how something that would've been better served as a direct to DVD mess ended up in theaters.

That's just how I feel about it at least. This video covers most of the problems i had with it.

the pace felt "off" to me for this film. the best scenes were the fight between leo/raph and the intro with Leonardo being a badass

Except no....? No. Just no. The movie was basically trash, save the Leo and Raph fight scene.

Boring forgettable villains.

Why make 12 or 13 monsters and only show like...3?

Were Mikey and Don in the movie?

Did Casey even do.... well.....anything?

Repeating the origin twice? Just to fill up screen time?

Splinter angry at Leo for not getting the family together when HE sent Leo off and broke up the family in the first place? And why the hell did he ground the others just cause Leo was gone?

No. Just no.

Pretty good. He got all of the points just right, along with the usual Cinema Sins running gags. I wish he'd also do II and III.

Shark_Blade

I agree with most of his points.

This movie is so bad it could potentially give people brain tumor. I had to edit out the godawful cringeworthy opening scene (boring narration: "4 brothers...4 turtles..", ancient time 3000 years ago and jungle central america) and also April's redundant recycling of the ancient storytelling again.

There's other stuff too but it's just better to ignore it, too much effort. It's the most excruciating movie to watch, even TMNT3 is better than this tripe. I would've thrown it in a trash can but the passable CGI is what holds me back. Barely. Another thing that's redeemable to me is that excellent rooftop rain fight scene.

Well, this guy isn't so smart. He bitched about Donnie's Bo holding him on the building, and apparently he wasn't paying attention to how the bo was placed. The stuff he's complaining about is nothing "wrong". If anyone is an asshole, it's this dude.

And even THAT had a stupid reason of being. What was Leo's problem with anyone else fighting crime in the city? Why isn't he all up in Casey's grill about that ****?

Shark_Blade
07-30-2014, 08:19 PM
Because of Leo's mindset of him being "better than you/everyone else" maybe. Yeah he should've outed Casey if that's the case.

I doubt the writers think thoroughly for his character in this movie, sadly.

Firstly, it's not all meant to be taken seriously. Secondly, he brought out tons of valid points. Thirdly, there was nothing on the bo that kept Don from falling due to his own weight. You can't just place a stick on the edge of something and have it somehow keep the rest of you from falling. And if there was something there weighing down the staff... they sure didn't angle the shot clear enough to show it.

I knew there'd be a thread about this video and I knew half the people would be bitching about it. Glad to see you guys don't disappoint.

This movie was awful and I'm glad Cinema Sins picked it apart. And I just KNEW Michael Bay would be the sentence.

07-31-2014, 09:33 AM
While I don't think it was awful, it was very bland and felt very much like it should have been a two-part episode of the 2003 series. The monsters plot just felt shoe-horned in and random and the goddamn Leo vs. Raph thing was shoved in our faces again while Mikey and Don were dumped in the background.

Also, I lol'd at the Pacific Rim joke.

THGhost

While I'll admit this movie isn't great, it certainly isn't bad. The CGI is incredibly well done, the voice acting is great and the turtles' personalities are fully intact - probably one of the best representations of each of them.
But yes, the plot is somewhat thin and the villains are highly forgettable. It sucks just how underused Karai is. They shouldn't have set it after the 3rd movie, they should have made it as a reboot and included the Shredder.

Nice to see a more positive response to Cinema Sins this time, where were you people in the first thread?

As a former filmstudent myself, I too can fully enjoy a film while also nitpicking. It actually makes it more fun.

Candy Kappa
07-31-2014, 04:17 PM
The thirteen monsters plot and the stone generals was just way to much for a short movie, and not very TMNT. And there was a lot of small things that bugs me, like the handling of Karai and the Foot in general. The lack of Donnie he Mikey and overall the jungle stuff.

The animation is good, the CG models are decent. Love the majority of the voice actors, Sarah Michelle Gellar as April was awesome.

I was pretty sorely disappointed in this movie, but to be fair I think Kevin Munroe was too. I think he wrote a longer, more coherent script and it kept getting trampled on by the idiots who wanted to kidify it. The personalities were mostly "intact" except Michelangelo who was stupid as hell. The voice acting was good, the CGI was great at times, but the plot was dumb, it wasn't funny or charming at all (warning to those who want a "dark" TMNT movie), and honestly TMNT films kind of need Shredder.

What Rooish said.

At the time I really wanted to love it, but with hindsight it is very weak.

But... to give credit where credit is due TMNT did a really good job of setting tone. The city was dark and moody; visually, the NYC environments were stunning; the Raph / Leo fight in the rain was truly outstanding. It could have been perfect if the whole portal / monsters / Winters / stone generals thing was left out in favour of some Michelangelo / Donatello stuff and a few meaty battle scenes with the Foot and Karai.
