Okay, here is a place for evryone that loved (or hated) the TMNT 2007 movie, i love this movie so much it brings back such memories :D it's my super super close second to the 1990 movie
i would rehearse the Leo vs Raph lines, Raph: You are so smart, you know that! you think the world revolves around you don't you?! that we couldn't possible survive without the mighty and powerful Leonardo! the guy that solves all our problems ah! well i got a news flash for you.. we got along just fine without you!!
Leo: Oh and this qualifies as just fine! dressing up like it's halloween evry night, risking the safety of our family! i mean come on what were you thinking!
so yeah as you can see i really love this movie!

It's alright. It gets some things right, but ultimately fails on most things IMO.

2007 is my fav. movie (so far )
One good quote :lol::
Michaelangelo:
"Did anyone get the license plate of that thing that hit us last night? It looked like your mom dude!" (pointing on Donnie)
Donatello:
"Yeah. That would make her your mom too, doofus."

I think this film encapsulates the very best of the TMNT franchise and at the same time the very worst.
When it is good, it is brilliant. Reference, Leo fights Raph on a rooftop. It is perfect: beautiful CGI, scene lit by a neon sign and the city awash with rainwater, angst, eyes so full of emotion they are almost real.... :D
When it is bad, it is dreadful. Reference: 13 monsters were released into our world.....

I also loved this movie. The opening monologue was awful, but after that I thought it was great all the way through. Second-best TMNT movie (after the original 1990 film, of course).

I enjoyed it overall but still hold 1990 film as my favorite.

I think jenna sums it up perfectly.
It does a lot right, but it also does a lot wrong. The CGI direction/cinematography is really neat though, and I do like the design of the turtles.

The villains were boring/forgettable, and Donnie & Mikey didn't get enough screen time - but despite that, I still enjoy the movie very much and after the 1990 film, it's my second fave. The Raph/Leo stuff is well worth the price of admission in my book. :)
I think it has enough good stuff to balance out the missteps; to me, it's a solid entry in the franchise.

I loved Donny and Mikey holding down jobs and Raph's Nightwatcher schtick. Leonardo, for the most part, was pretty great, but I wasn't a fan of him getting all mad with the NightWatcher, because when the Turtles are out fighting crime, they are pretty much what he was complaining what the Nightwatcher was. A vigilante.
I think it would have been better, if say, the movie began with Leo never having left, tempers are up, Raph is still doing his Nightwatcher deal, and gets busted by Leo. And then, to try and calm everyone down, Splinter sends them all out of the city to try and find themselves, and there, it could have become some sort of an adventure.

Agree. I edited a lot of unnecessary scenes out of the movie to get full enjoyment.

I watched the Nostalgia Critic's review of this movie and from what i saw its just Ninja Turtles 3 in CGI
Villians that are random and have nothing to do with the Turtles Universe
Casey Jones is downplayed Again etc

It's actually "You're so smug, y'know that?" in the Leo/Raph scene. ;)
I actually really enjoyed it, though I do have some problems with it. Didn't like how much Don/Mike were sidelined and I felt they sort of....misused Leo/Raph by contradicting the whole subplot.
Thought the 13 monsters was a perfect TMNT plot. I mean..c'mon, Rene? Time Travel? Alternate dimensions? TMNT is full of weird sci-fi nonsensical ideas.
The monster thing was classic sci/monster toss up idea. The stone warriors side was a bit overly complicated.

I think the turtles themselves and the rest of the city scenery were absolute eye candy. The amount of detail put into EVERYthing is amazing and you can tell there was a lot of work put into this. I also love all four voice actors chosen for the turtles, their suited perfectly and the portrayal of each turtle (except perhaps Leo in terms of his loyalty to his brothers) was also pretty darn spot on.
The humans and actual storyline though? Not so much. I can sort of give a pass on the storyline since I DO like that they were going for something a little different than the expected Shredder villain stuff, but it's obviously lacking in depth. And there's really no helping the design of the humans. At all. Karai is the only one I find the least bit acceptable and I really despise what April became in this film. Thankfully this film did a very good job at focusing on the turtles themselves and leaving the humans (except for Winters) mostly on the backburner.

I personally like it. Is it perfect? No, but it doesn't have to be. It's behind only to the 1990 movie, (so far). I saw it in theaters and hadn't watched seen it in a while so I watched it a couple of weeks ago, and it still was great for me.

I made a thread for this a year or two back. It's an incredibly pretty film that nails the Turtles' characterizations for much of its run time.
It's also a bloated mess and I have no idea why it was made.
Not having seen the new one yet, it's the second best Turtles film.

I kind of wish it had been Krang/Utroms/Dimension X myself. If you're not going to do Shredder, the next step is a Dimension X invasion.
I mean, they even had a portal to another Dimension. It would have been super great to see that.

I didn't hate it. It made as much sense as a movie about teenage mutant ninja turtles could. I didn't love the shredder bot or the size of the turtles but as a movie I enjoyed it. It was better than revenge of the fallen.

This movie fits in with the Nick universe so much. The Turtles and April just look like older versions of their Nick selves, and all the monsters look like the Nick mutants.
The only differences are the vastly different Splinter (well he IS older here), and Karai not knowing the Turtles, but otherwise it feels like, "The Nick show, years later."

This was the best part of the movie.
and Raph's Nightwatcher schtick.
Don't understand why as a ninja turtle, concealed in the darkness as per the art of ninja why he'd need to dress up in a leather bikey boy facade? I thought it was kind of stupid.
The rest? Putrid.
- Worst TMNT designs EVER. They looked like geckos.
- Leo was a self righteous, pretentious douche, and not the humble reluctant leader.
- Raph was emo, and not just angry but a dick.
- Horrendously cheesy antagonists.
- No true brotherly love.
- Brushed off Leo / Raph conflict resolution.

Dang, that's why I like this movie so much, actually. Both of them are arrogant in their own ways, and that's what made the Raph vs. Leo fight so cool.

That's not the characters though. Leo is scolding Raph for being a vigilante ... meanwhile he's away from his family for over a year without contact. Acting as a vigilante. Can you not say hypocritical? Horrible leader, even worse brother. Both are about as unlikable as they come.
They had true conflict in the '90 film. Raph wanting to be the leader, but knowing deep down he isn't meant for it. He has to hold back his alpha-ness. Leo the reluctant teacher's pet. But who follows the rules, thinks before he acts. They have conflict with one another, but they resolve it in a loving way.
Here? Nope. Just a cool fight scene?

Ditto; I thought that was kind of the point - Leo and Raph both have tendencies towards arrogance; by the end of the movie, they both had some humility and had reconnected their emotional bond as brothers, instead of just viewing one another as competitors/teammates. Like Splinter said - strong where the other is weak; they both realized what their flaws were.

Exactly, it's called character development. Apparently some people have a problem with such concept.

I thought the movie was good and well animated. The 13 monsters and the winters plot would have been better scrapped.
Thing's I'd focus on or would have put in the movie instead.
Introduce Karai and have her making strides to revive the Foot Clan.
Focus more on the brothers falling apart.
Donnie has been struggling to keep the family together but it's falling apart on his watch. Which frustrates him, Mikey isn't a problem. But Raph is out all night as the Nightwatcher, asleep all day, and when he's awake he angerly lashes out at anything. So maybe giving Don a hard time by saying "Don't you dare start pretending you're Leo, cause your not. In fact you don't even hold a candle ta Leo. If our fearless leader had left me in charge before he left to prance around that jungle of his, maybe things be better around here. But he's not calling the shots and I sure as hell am not going to be lectured by one of my little brothers. "
Explanation as to how Raph got the Night Watcher outfit. The tie in comic said that Raph got it from an elderly human who he had wanted to help. But was unable to because they were tracking Triceraton's in the sewers.
More of an explanation as to why Leo left aside from Splinter sending him on a training mission.
Leo returns, Raph is resentful of Leo. While Donnie and Mikey are glad to finally have him back. Leo notices Donnie is also somewhat distant and wonders what happened while he was away.
Leo learns from Master Splinter that Raph had take Leo's departure rather hard. Donatello on the other hand was another story.
Leo starts the guys on training missions again, where they encounter the Foot.
Karai recognizes the Turtles as the ones who "killed" the Shredder and she wants to make them pay dearly for it.

I liked it but didn't love it. I like the general look of it, but thought the designs of the human characters needed some work. I liked the Turtles themselves, and their personalities were well-done. The story was weird, and like the third film, it's hard to really figure why they chose to tell that story instead of adapting or expanding on any of the millions of more familiar concepts from the TMNT universe. Going out of their way to do the whole "13 Monsters" gimmick and then only showing a few of them was dumb; I think they did that just because it sounded more "ominous", since 13 is the "spooky number".
Worst thing I can really say, is it's very unmemorable. It's easier to remember lines from the movie than anything that happened in the movie other than the Leo/Raph fight. It's kind of meandering and doesn't really sell itself to the viewer; once you've seen it, you've seen it, and there's very little urgency to watch it again soon. So, I'm fine with it, but I don't love it.

I honestly prefer the 2014 movie over TMNT. TMNT wasn't bad per say I mean, it had the ****ing awesome Leo VS Raph scene that got me pumped when I first saw in the theater. But realistically, it was made at the wrong time and released at the wrong time.

The 2000's weren't a high point for the turtles, they weren't very popular at that time and TMNT just tried to ressurect the franchise but it didn't work. TMNT, when compared to the other TMNT movies, was a flop. They should've released it way after 2007 and then it would've been a success.

The franchise at that time had an on-going TV series for 6 years with an whole line of merchandising accompanying it. Not very popular? I don't think so.

No it wasn't. At the time, it was the second highest-grossing TMNT movie.

Because...? What happened after 2007 to guarantee a success when compared to that year in particular?

Yeah, it was awesome :D
Klaus Badelt's soundtrack was a real treat. He was really able to capture the mood of a scene, and he knew when to make the score stand out or retreat into the background of the film.
For those interested, he actually uploaded the entire recording sessions to his SoundCloud (https://soundcloud.com/klausbadelt/sets/tmnt) a while ago.

TMNT 07 wasn't bad but I almost wish it was. At least if it was laughably bad I would be able to watch it for entertainment value. Truth is its incredibly OK and every year it looks worse and worse.

Turtles were not popular in 07. They were just barley hanging on and the show was losing viewers very quickly. By 09 they were back into obscurity like in 1999
