To me this new TMNT movie is not going to be good enough to be getting sequels. When I hear about this movie and see the trailers it got me thinking about Avatar the Last Airbender where people swore up an down that it was going to be a spectacular movie and it was goimg to get sequels cause it is going to be good. I mean the series was excellent so why not the movie based off the series? Made sense until they completely change the way people saw the series and not in a good way. Still the movie was successful having grossed more than double its budget but no sequel came of it. Why? Because it was not the movie that people wanted. And yes I hear they were going to make sequels after this one but the reviews and other factors says otherwise. :/ What do you think?

Imo, this movie is mostly critic proof, the people who want to see it will see it no matter what. I think people who think this will end up getting re-booted again cause this one failed (as of this moment) should wait longer before sticking with the decision.

I saw this movie already, as well as Avatar the Last Airbender. And it is in no way as terrible as The Last Airbender movie.
Avatar had some of the worst acting ive ever seen. Megan Fox was pretty bad in this, but the movie stayed focused on the turtles pretty much and they were great.

I never said that TMNT wasn't going to be successful financially. People are going to give it a chance because its TMNT no matter what. But these are few. The movie depends on casual fans if the movie doesnt hit that stride for them than you can say goodbye to those Turtles regardless if you think the movie is great or not.

If this got rebooted it wouldn't be for about 10 years. A lot would have to happen in that time. The cartoon would still have to be going strong, the comics get more successful and popular than they already are, and or Marvel, or DC buys the rights to TMNT. There is NO WAY they reboot this right away if it's a failure.

TMNT is bigger and more popular than Avatar. Just like Transformers, its basically a given to get sequels, if only 1.
I have not seen the movie and have not read reviews because of spoilers but this just sounds like you hope it doesn't get sequels.

Not to the new generation. Avatar is the flavor for this new or at least when the movie was getting made It was for a brief time more popular than even Spongebob. Its the new TMNT Nick show that is bringing kids back to the series. I don't understand why people don't think Avatar can be as popular than TMNT. Just because TMNT was out longer doesnt mean its always going to be #1 to kids at least. And when did I say this movie is not going to get sequels? I just said realistically its not.

Again its the same difference as Transformers.
You could make the same argument in 2007. It was only popular again for a new generation because of Cybertron, Animated or whatever cartoon was around then.

Actually when transformers movie came out there was no toon on the air...animated was only on the air between 1 and 2 followed by prime

I agree. TMNT is bigger...right now. But as for the demographic for kids I think Avatar is more popular than TMNT. When I say Avatar I mean the old and new. But you are right for now. Older people are more in the know with TMNT than Avatar. But I don't think you can make a case for kids. To them Avatar is more popular than TMNT.

No. I was making a point how the demographics are changing. The film is aimed for 18+ because like I said before TMNT is aimed at the older audience. And to answer your questionthis is not a Avatar> TMNT topic because like you said it has a bigger fanbase because its been around longer. So cut the crap and accept it as it is. Times are changing.

If this one fails then it's not a given we ever get a TMNT reboot. Viacom is not going to continue throwing money at a property that isn't making them a sufficient return. TMNT's box office history isn't great and if this one fails too then Viacom will see a pattern they don't want to continue. Platinum Dunes might have killed our chance to see future big screen adaptations of TMNT.

how are you going to decide that this movie isnt going to get a sequel when A. you havent seen it and B. it hasnt even officially come out yet....
you sound like a straight up jackass and threads like this shouldnt be created

Ehh, I wouldn't say that. The franchise is a proven money-maker, even if that mainly comes from cartoons and toys. The way that movie studios have been strip-mining existing properties for a while now, I honestly don't think anything could permanently kill a brand with the recognition TMNT has. A time-out, sure.
If this movie falls short, I could see them going in a different direction. I wonder if practical suits with CGI touch-ups/faces might be cheaper than the full Avatar treatment?

Well then we somehow will need to convince Hollywood that the Turtles are a great selling point and were not the problem (if this movie were to fail). Because god knows Hollywood acts dumb enough it might just take it as the Turtles aren't sellable as a movie rather than look at the makers.

Hollywood seems to think the turtles are the problem... which is why all the ka-zillion changes they feel were neccesary to make it 'work'.

If it makes money they will stick with the same formula more money means more better to the studios, people don't see to get it.
It was annoying when people complained about avatar it was a good action movie just like the show was.

I think this movie will spawn at least one sequel. Beyond that, maybe nothing else
