View Full Version : What would you want in a sequel?
So, after seeing the movie what do you want to see in a sequel?
This universe being a live action "modern" version of the OT is interesting and some of the choices in this movie whether you liked it or not give plenty of possibilities for fun sequels. For me this universe can get really wacky and have some of the more out there ideas for the turtles without problems, something a realistic gritty version of the turtles wouldn't have been able to make. that is at least a good thing about this take on them.
The Technodrome/Krang - I can totally see a technodrome or krang introduced in this movie series, maybe for a third movie, the technodrome is really out there but it can fight.
Mutants - I can see the movie having other mutants easily since it wouldn't be that out there in these movies.
Things I don't think will work very well:
Casey Jones? I'm sure he'll appear in one form or another but counting the turtles are like hulk in the movie I don't know if he would fit very well, maybe for some more "street" level stuff instead of having Vernon in that final battle..
A few rogues like the Rat King unless heavily modified.
please if you won't add anything to the thread don't post here with flame bait.

I would love to see a Rivalry Between Sachs and Karai Turning Sach into more of and "elite Foot Commander" and them working together and Fighting the turtle with more Foot. Seeing shredder return And hearing more about splinter and seeing him fight. It would be good to See Casey, Delve more into the Alien Aspects of the Ooze And Krang done some way or another, Bebop and rocksteady would be so good

I think Casey works, the world they set up with the Foot being a long running terrorist group in NYC, and then the rumors that could start about the vigilante's, they could inspire Casey Jones.
They already said Beebop and Rocksteady, I'm 100% on board with this.
Baxter Stockman has to be in the next one.
Would love to see if they could bring Krang into this. The next one needs to be longer though. It was way too short.

Well, if there were a sequel...
Ninjas.
Lots...of...ninjas. Not machine guns.
I want the the big huge dozens of ninja vs the turtles in a big wild choreographed martial arts brawl. Sort of like 2007 CG film had at the end....only with the actual fight playing out. Not bypassing the Foot to get inside.

I get the feeling that the terrorist Foot clan pisses Shredder off in the film. I'm hoping he is building the ninja clan again.
I'd be okay with seeing Bebop and Rocksteady.
Baxter is in the credits, so apparently he's one of the scientists with Sacks in one of the scenes.

I I think you have something he says that Karai's soldiers are week right? So i think that leaves it open for him to wreck it by building a stronger Larger ninja group though they are there through out the movie you just have to keep an eye out for them

That's what I was thinking from that scene, yeah. He says it's no surprise her men are being beaten by the vigilantes since he beat one with his arms bound behind his back. So having him survive and rebuilding the "true Foot Clan" personally would be a plot I could support.
I think they should have leaned a little more on IDW's "criminal empire" Shredder utilizing both traditional hitmen and gangsters as well as his own ninja. But they didn't, so I can only hope maybe that'll happen if a sequel gets made.
Truthfully I'd rather see a sort of reboot-sequel a la Incredible Hulk from Hulk, but that's my personal opinion.

Incredible Hulk didn't really start from scratch either, though. It just tweaked where it felt it was needed.
Assume the movie doesn't do so well and it takes us a little while longer to get another movie. Rather than doing ANOTHER origin story, just move forward with the not-quite-but-sort of-reboot sequel.
Primarily all I'd really like to see is them reduce their hulking size a bit. They still just seemed jarringly large to me (like loud thuds when they are trying to sneak and drop down). I'd drop the bullet proof thing too. Get back to "Yes, we can bleed." And get their plastron back to being plastron and add the bridge on the sides again.
But hey, I wound up being okay with their faces and all, so gimme a little credit for accepting them some. ;)

The mutagen is alluded to as being from another planet, and there are utroms in the mural. It really may happen, and that's thrilling.
I've thought about Casey, and I think he could work in this world, and alongside these turtles, if he's decked out in dangerous gear like the Nick Casey. Makeshift armor, gadgets, explosives. I dig that wannabe Batman angle.
And, of course, mousers.

Have you seen it yet....awesome movie:D
Was it completely different from the trailers? Were they short, stealthy assassins moving in the shadows? Did they remove the fart jokes? Did they potentially reshoot with a new director and cast? (Still have nothing against Bay, Fox, or the dude playing the real Shredder, it's just everyone else).
I did watch the snow sequence online, as well as the rooftop/elevator clip. I thought, "maybe it's not as bad as you think".
If those are the stand out moments, and I didn't enjoy them, should I actually go to the movies?
I honestly cringed at the cowabunga line in the rooftop scene. The cheese pizza bit is awful.
Thanks, but I'll sit this one out.

Practical sequel: Introduction of Casey Jones. Ultrom invasion. Bebop & Rocksteady mutation. Shredder 2.0.
Impractical sequel: Hamato Yoshi is alive in Japan leading original Foot Clan. Recognizes fighting style in news reporting of event. Investigates, uncovers Splinter and TMNT. Teaches them legit ninjutsu. Then outta nowhere... BAM! Rat king. Nuff said.

Someone posted a while ago that they like the idea of a fallen Sachs becoming the Rat King and I dig it too; it would add a creepy, darker aspect to the story. Just imagine Raph throwing a punch at a tattered, skeletal guy who just explodes into rats upon impact.
How about an inclusion of The Purple Dragons? Like, Mikey could sneak out one night to attend a skating competition hosted by them (Mikey would not be aware), concealed in a hoodie and mask. He pulls off some badass moves and people are impressed, but then disaster strikes - he messes up, the disguise comes off and the gang grab him.

I've told you to f*ck off before. I dislike you. You don't take the time to proof read your posts, at all, so I assume you're an absolute idiot, or just really inconsiderate of others. I'm sure it's a bit of both.
The war is over buster, and you've lost. We've ALL lost, because of people, just like you, who insist on lowering the bar, for everything. 16% isn't even close to a passing grade. They trashed the franchise. Applaud all you want, theaters will be empty by the third weekend. 2014 toys will go in the bargain bin.
You really want to know why I'm so opposed to PD's movie? Check my posts.
I'm convinced you love this movie because you just don't know any better.
You cook, so how's this: this "opportunity" was a beautiful cut of 40 day dry aged prime beef, ready for the souvis, to be transformed into mouth watering perfection.
Instead, someone butterflied it, dropped it in a dry frying pan, and cooked it for 30 minutes in olive oil. Then they tried to serve it, customer complainedit was dry, so they scraped it off the plate into a big bin, and made burgers out of it. Burgers didn't sell, and the meat cost money, so well, screw it, make a chilli. Nobody wants the damed chilli, so let's sell it with Nachos and cheese!
And your buying those sad Nachos, for the same price as you would have paid for the steak, because of the Canadian Prime in the meat sauce. Not the same as having a beautiful steak though, is it. And you keep going back for seconds! More than that, you want to force me to eat them too!
Stop it.

I really hope there isn't a sequel and we get a better reboot soon but I'm pretty sure they've ruined the turtle franchise for awhile whether this thing is successful or not. I guess if enough people like it then who am I to say they shouldn't have a sequel? But I want nothing to do with this version. I'd rather watch the old ones. And I'm not even a nostalgic purist.

Actually, Sam didn't ruin anything.
Actually, he did.
We can do this all day. Why are you picking a fight with me? I've agreed with you in the past on numerous things, but now, you're up in arms?
Sam didn't actually read what I'd written, he simply regurgitated his ongoing rhetoric.
I'm a firm believer that the studio's are paying attention to the online reactions, so much so that they are willing to make drastic changes if word of mouth is bad.
I don't think 2014 should be the model going forward, in any form, and the opinions of the fans should be expressed to the max. It's because Godzilla 1999 was universally hated, that they made damned sure to reboot with fans in mind. It's because superman returns was panned that you got MOS (which I loathe, in both instances, but still). It's the hatred for TASM costume that they made TASM2 costume better, possibly the best CBM costume since Reeves in '78.
But Sam isn't discerning in his taste, and will accept just about anything, in the face of other fans desires, without bothering to understand why they're miffed. He's entitled to his opinion, sure, that's not my issue. it's that he blatantly ignores mine, and others. he doesn't present an actual argument, ever, and certainly doesn't try to make his opinion legible.
Yes, he caused the divide, along with two or three others that decided to shout down the naysayers.
Back to the topic:
If there's a sequel, I'd like it to be Battle Toads, or Street Sharks. In that way, I won't care what they do.

There are three I'd consider as the emotional scenes.
One with the trio and Splinter locking them out to save themselves, which was pretty good.
One with Raph and Splinter, which I felt was sort of quick to move on from.
One with the brothers during the climax, which I thought was pretty horrible as it had no support to build up to it. I liked Don's confession, Mike's was a throw away, and Raph's didn't fit in the context of the movie whatsoever. They didn't emphasize the subplot from the Blue Door script yet they kept this big catharsis from it. Leo.....got nothing. :/
That last one could be the victim of editing in the rest of the movie, much like April's dad dying in the lab he set on fire with him and his daughter in it, yet then saying Sacks shot him to death. I suspect an editing gaffe there.
*sigh* I'll see you guys when threads get unlocked again. It's coming...

No convincing? Were we watching the same movie???
Something about that whole moment was off. Splinter tells Raph to, "Go", and before Splinter can even finish the word Raph's like, "Let's go save my brothers."
I could tell it was the moment we were supposed to be cheering for Raph but at the same time it was deflated because he just left Splinter there without much convincing. Like he wasn't even torn about it.
Then they never go back to Splinter until the very end of the movie so you are left wondering what even happened to him.

Seriously There a several Emotional Scenes The brother hood bond is Great The integrations with each other are awesome. Splinter and his Fatherly bond is great. None of that is Fake or hallow and is most definitely Earned.
Are you kidding? Nothing in the movie felt earned. It was severely undercooked. They didn't even earn the title. They kept poking fun at it.
I never got the sense that anybody, except Megan Fox, surprisingly, gave a **** about the turtles at all. There was no confidence in their product.

Utroms, I haven't seen the movie but given that suppossedly the Shredder is ancient, has connections to TCRI and a robo-suit that might mean he's Ch'rell. I don't know if the "ancient" part is true since I haven't seen the movie, but having the Utroms would be nice regardless since it can mean Krang in a future movie.
But really, any decent villain that is not the Shredder I mean seriously, this is the villain list for the movies so far:
1990, Shredder
1991, Shredder again
1993, a gun trader (why? They could have used Savanti given the time sceptre)
2007, Warrior king Winters (probably the best attempt at a non-shredder so far)
2014, Shredder for the third time.
Seriously everyone has pointed this out, at least the Superman movies have two villains from the comics instead of just the one. (Yeah the Superman movies go like this, Lex, Lex/Zod, not-Lex, Lex/Not-Bizarro, Lex, Zod)
Let compare it to Batman: Joker, Penguin, Two-Face/Riddler, Ivy/Freeze/Bane, Ra's/Scarecrow, Joker/Two-Face, Bane/Talia. See! Not a single OC or same villain in a row.
Or Spider-Man: Goblin, Octopus, Sandman/Venom/Goblin, Lizard, Electro/Goblin. Again no same villain in a row or relying on OCs.
This is especially odd seeing how the Shredder is not even that important in the Mirage comics that spawned the franchise and he's far from the only villain, look, here is a list of usable villains:
Baxter
Krang
Savanti Romero
Rat King
The Triceraton Empire
Dregg
Six, that's six somewhat recognisable villains that can be used for big scale stakes.

I think it will take a director/producer team who grew up with TMNT to bring any of those suggestions into the fold.
I'm with you, shredder is overdone, and In my opion, would be hard to top from the 1990 incarnation (hard, but not impossible.)
But yeah, TMNT v Triceratons would have been really interesting, fresh, and likely very popular. Including Krang/Utroms would be great.

Lol saw the movie last night, I think it would be easier to either just not make a sequel and try to take another crack at it.
The biggest problem is the story and size of the turtles.
These turtles are so damn big that nothing can hurt them!!!!!
But if they make a sequel I would like to see the triceraton empire those are the only villains that can face off against the turtles.

After reading all that got cut and re-shot I can now agree with a soft-reboot that goes into the Foot Ninja's back story or whatever. Didn't GI-Joe do something like that for the sequel? Ignoring the bad parts of the first film?

Since this movie was Raph centric, have the next story center around one of the other Turtles. There were hints of the Shredder's return as you see his hand move and he has that little bit of mutagen on his finger. Since there are four of them, this should probably be centered around both Donnie and Leo, the two are sort of the same person trapped in two different bodies sometimes.
Maybe have Donnie looking over the recordings April had been making as a child, after all he at least would want to know more about what they were nearly killed for. He comes across the video of where it is mentioned that the Mutagen was from another world.
When he asks April about it, she says she didn't know where it was from but supposedly it was from a place called Dimention X.
This could introduce Krang and eventually the technodrome because the Shredder or Sach's would have had to have received it from somewhere. And from the sound of things, we are looking at IDW Krang.

Dear Sam, I havn't a clue what you've just written, however;
I've told you to f*ck off before.
Stop it.
Hmmm.. do you really think you can speak to people this way and get away with it commenter 31? How did he lose? The movie is making a butt load of money.. and it's a movie he enjoys. So.. ill ask you again Commenter 0. How did he lose? I will on the other hand say that... you've lost. You're bitter and angry and miserable. So you stick around the movie section personally insulting people bc your an angry little troll. What's the matter?
Why are you so angry? Do you think your opinion is a fact? do you think it is indisputable? bc ill tell you now it's not lol. You are an angry person sitting in front of your computer trying to bring others down bc that is obviously how you feel. Down in the dumps with no hope for happiness. So maybe if you make a big stink in here someone will pay you some attention and if you don't get the attention you start swearing at people. I hope things get better for you. I hope whatever's bothering you goes away. Sam is a nice guy.. maybe instead of telling him to **** off calling him an idiot you should learn how to use the ignore option.

Someone please tell me, because whoever was holding the camera at that scene, like all of the fight scenes, was having such a massive seizure. I couldn't tell what the hell was going on.
Right now, I would rather have a sequel to whatever the 2007 movie had planned than this. But, to make comment.
First, kill off Vernon. I never liked the guy in the old toon, and I don't like him here. And then bring in Casey Jones.
Get a new director who can actually film a cohesive action sequence.
Get someone who can actually write a cohesive script.
And, get someone who can actually edit a goddam movie. You got 12 year olds making youtube videos that are more professional looking than this.
A good plot, considering the size of these Turtles, I would say a Triceraton invasion would be nice, but only if it doesn't take away budget from the Turtles.

Laird does get a little hypercritical, but a Ciro-Laird collaboration might be interesting.
Eastman seems more concerned with the marketing these days, and He really was the main force behind NM, which was pretty terrible, and the more i think about it, the more I'm realizing there's a lot of NM influence in TMPD. (Really,I think 2014 turtles movie needs some kind of acronym).

I think it's safe to say TMNT is best when Eastman and Laird are working in tandem.
The way the movie leaves a lot open for Splinter, they could start the sequel with him having nightmares about Japan, and Oroku Saki etc... and have it come from the mutagen he was given to heal him.
I would have Shredder locked away, he's obviously healed himself with the little bit of ooze he had on his glove.
I would have Sacks in a hideout with Baxter trying to replicate the ooze, while Karai tries to free Shredder.
Now that The Shredder has been captured, they could have some citizens inspired to start being vigilante's, this is where we are introduced to Casey Jones.
Have the Turtles being bored in the lair and Raph wanting to go above again, but Splinter and Leo think they need to lay low for a while, have Raph sneak out at night, where he runs into Casey on a rooftop. They start possibly fighting until they notice the Foot is robbing a warehouse, and they both go and stop the foot trying to one up each other.
I would have Baxter figure out how to make Ooze 2.0 and this is how we're introduced to Beebop and Rocksteady. The break Shredder out of prison.
Shredder is now hell bent on killing the Turtles, and he doesn't have his crazy suit anymore so he goes back to the basics, this is where we see a toned down suit, more like the 1990 movie.
They start terrorizing the city and maybe even kidnap April to bring the Turtles out of hiding.
Then have the turtles, splinter, and Casey out trying to stop Beebop and Rocksteady from destroying the city.
I don't know I was just spewing from the top of my head, dunno if that even makes a good story line or not.

Original story concept rather then retelling something in some altered way (that way they also aren't tired to having to get everything exactly right), even if using some old faces, roughly speaking. Further character development and depth for the guys. Slow down the pace a little. (Edit: And someday portrayed as young adults...)

adding bebop and rocksteady, casey jones, fleshing out shredder's back story (kinda works out that we didnt get any info on him in this one, cuz it leaves plenty to dig into for part 2), introducing baxter (really introducing him) and maybe teasing or a stinger for utroms and dimension x, if they go that route.
seems like a lot to handle, but if the focus is "the origin of the shredder" and if some thought is given to making an actual connection to splinter, then the bulk of the movie's plot motivation could be pushed forward by that theme. adding the hench-mutants and baxter as a sub-plot, with a twist along the lines of baxter secretly working for or secretly BEING an utrom/kraang/whatever at the end could be worthwhile. and casey could be put in as a foil to vernon, raph and (not so seriously) mikey. would also give april a character to bounce off of and maybe get in a little bit of deeper character development (ya know, aside from "but im a REPORTER!").
also less criminal under use of whoopi goldberg.

They never really showed what happened to eric sacks so I think it would be cool to show him getting up from where he was left in the first one to reveal he is infact, krang now needing a body, or an utrom. This would bring the plot hole of the first movie to rest where once theysaid the ooz was from alien orgin then later stating they made it for a cure type thing. Then it could show him along with baxter creating bebop and rocksteady while an accident happens and causes baxter to turn into the fly for the end reveal and final battle but having b&r through the rest of the film with shredder..:D just a thought.....

Keep it separate from the other incarnations.
There is no way they do Bebop and Rocksteady justice. There is no way the Rat King would be handled correctly.

Can we just force Eastman and Laird to work together again so some good stuff comes from them?!

What I want in a sequel:
-Turtle van action
-Super shredder
-Getting to know shredder more
-Getting to know the turtles more
-Bebop and rocksteady
-More information on the mutagen
-Eric sachs
Good directing and script.

What? I thought the last thing they worked together on was The Next Mutation, not exactly a high point in the TMNT lore.
Uh, as for what they could do in the sequel. I would like it if they let Pete Ploszek voice for Leo this time. I just can't see what was the point for having Johnny Knoxville do it.

I think it'd be great to see Krang and incorporate more sci-fi elements into the plot. Which would inevitably lead to a more Donnie focused story. If they do use Bebop and Rocksteady I fear it might follow along the lines of Secret of the Ooze.

I Liked it. Sh%% was maaaad edited. But the story was a mash up of previous turtle movies/shows that seemed they wanted to appease fans with the sacrifice of structure.
overall i want to see it again in theaters because it was a cool flick and i enjoyed it. will anyone else here enjoy it ??? dont know dont care. if people just wanna crap all over stuff they deem poor quality then have at it. its the internet thats kinda what its known for and boobs.
what i wanna see:
Bebop Rocksteady
Krang
Casey Jones
Triceratons
Mousers
Rat King
And have part 2 just be a cluster fu&& of all those characters with tons of laughs and action.
Cause at the end of the day that's why I like the turtles laughs and action.
I leave the script writing to the writers and editing to the editors since my opinion will not affect the outcome i tend to not stress over that kinda stuff.

I haven't seen it but based on what I do know of it I wouldn't mind a character cull. It seems Whoopi Goldberg and Abby Elliot's characters don't serve any purpose so if they are bringing in more characters (which Leibesman wants) I don't think we need them and Vernon for that matter. Does anyone want or need him if Casey is in the movie?
I like Fichtner (and don't know the final status of Sacks in the movie) but again does he serve a purpose if (hopefully) Saki is given more screen time? There are many better lackey's for Shredder.

What would you want in a sequel?
All I ask for is some basic stuff that this one could have used...
Slow down. Make some important scenes more substantial in what's happening. Better view of their home and life. Explore more character development and depth into their personalities.
I liked that Raph got a soft hearted moment to counter his rough demeanor of the rest of the film, but Leo seemed like he was stuck in a rather gruff, tough guy mode for pretty much the whole time... Maybe he's the more serious one, but that doesn't mean he has to be gruff and standoffish 24/7. He could certainly be a bit of a sweetie in his own right, I hope they eventually let that show.
If they can go into those things with the sequel(s) then this first can at least stand as an understandable set up for the rest.

Well, I might be giving the people in charge more faith than they deserve, but with the Vernon character (someone that was kind of like meh,) they have him, I say use him as a plot device, where he is threatened, the Turtles try and save him, and they fail at it, and he dies. I don't know if this new movie wants to get that dark, but, I heard rumors Vernon was supposed to be Casey's brother, so if Vern gets killed, this is what could bring Casey out of the shadows. I also like the idea of the what kind of character development could come with the boys realizing their first real fail, had a horrible consequence.

First of all normal script.
About whom I want to see in sequels:
TMNT 2__ Bebop and Rocksteady, maybe mousers
TMNT 3 __ Introduction of Krang and I want to see a huge army of rock soldiers, Leatherhead
TMNT 4 __ Triceratons, Metalhead
TMNT 5__ Slash, Tokka and Razer, some other mutants

I'd like the sequel to focus on more of Eric Sacks and Dr. Baxter Stockman so we can get Mousers. I'd also like The Shredder, even though he's arguably my favorite part about the movie, to be more in the background in the sequel. The turtles don't necessarily know that he survived that fall from the first one so maybe he can be in the background, maybe trying to get in contact with Krang from Dimension X where he originally got the mutagen from.
This way The Foot Clan and Karai, especially, can have more screen time. And give Karai a sword so she can fight with Leo and have good character development and moments with the two of those characters.
Then the third one can focus on Krang, Dimensions X, and maybe even The Technodrome. I also worry about Bebop and Rocksteady in a more serious environment. So I'd rather not see them and rather have mutants like Leatherhead or Slash appear.

I finally got to watch this movie. I liked it for the most part but there were a lot of problems that I had with this movie. But I will get into that later.
I would like to see a better and well-written plot, character development, a new writer, a new director, less spectacle, and a set tone (this movie couldn't find a balance between dark and light-hearted). At the very least, I like it more than TMNT 3.

After watching the movie and it being even worse than I thought and pretty convinced that this movie series has little scope for improvement however against my better judgement (and knowing the direction of where they want to go in a sequel) here's what I think would would be good and why.
Casey Jones
I'd personally prefer it not be the Eastman suggestion that he became a vigilante from watching too much bad TV although I quite like the first movie's deleted scene take on this and Casey sick of seeing so much violence around him decides to take up a cause. That might be cool to actually see on screen.
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e280/klankandorbis/f9acfacf-1c4e-4ced-a6e4-0d879a3b2669_zpsb0c8077f.png
But he needs a back story and my suggestion is working in the one from the Mirage Tales of the TMNT #56 and 2003 animated series episode Meet Casey Jones were Casey's father owned a store but refused to give in to a street gang (The Purple Dragons) so they burned down his store with a hint that Casey's father was in it when it was torched.
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e280/klankandorbis/e6d1ec81-8495-499a-9c96-138e5b76b05b_zps9deb1081.pnghttp://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e280/klankandorbis/46467df5-d8d4-4764-a923-588c289f8d3a_zps87fe67f1.png
Hun & The Purple Dragons
While it doesn't necessarily have to have the leader of the gang be called Hun or for the gang itself to be called Purple Dragons I think we need to see some street level organised crime. Like a real life gangs have (let's call them) 'The Dragons' have the modern Foot symbol tatooed on them just like in the comics too. You've used the modern Foot logo in the movie already so it's already established.
Have them connected to the Foot Clan via their leader who would essentially fills the right hand man to Oroku Saki in the movie. This could be the gang that Bebop and Rocksteady are a part of and Hun volunteers them for Saki's experiment with the mutagen after their defeat at the hands of the turtles near the beginning of the movie.
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e280/klankandorbis/cd2a2064-5335-4dcd-90b0-ffc276ed34b0_zps0fe2c998.png
Foot Clan
Yep. Foot Clan as in an actual international organised crime group with their operatives as trained ninjas that act in the shadows. Not just like in the comics but in real life gangs like the Yakuza.
Ditch the whole NY based para military terrorist group. I don't know why anyone would think this was more realistic. They can still use guns but not as much.
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e280/klankandorbis/73d093d4-9325-476e-aae1-d5ea212c6a93_zps65fcef60.pnghttp://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e280/klankandorbis/aaafedd3-81b8-4e2f-9b18-fee0251cbdbf_zpsbeff2027.png
TMNT & Splinter Origin
My better judgement tells me that it's best left alone and forgotten but as fan I have this niggling feeling that it's not right so a do-over that fixes the origin is necessary.
I'd personally avoid the reincarnation angle from the IDW series. Rather stick to the classic comic origin simply say that the mutagen awakened memories of watching Yoshi train as well as watching Yoshi be murdered by Saki.
Turtles with Real Personalities
The turtles personalities were technically "correct" in their broadest term but they were never given much time not act like complete caricatures. We need some downtime with them to show there's more to them than being one-note characters in the same way that every other version has done.
Bebop & Rocksteady
If they are going to be in this then they have to be somewhat menacing and animalistic. Not the brightest sparks but competent to put up a good fight with their strength akin to the first season of the 1987 animated series.
What I Don't Want to See
Vern Fenwick, Taylor, Eric Sacks
That's all that I have time for now but I'm sure more thoughts will come to me.
Agreed. Maybe Tempestra could be used too.
On-Topic:
* Taylor becomes Mona Lisa
* Somehow, the turtles get thinner and shorter.
* Vernon dies.
* Alright, Casey Jones, Bebop and Rocksteady, and Baxter.
* Maybe Karai turns good (as usual). If not, cue Alopex/Lotus
* Tempestra is the main villain.

Now that I've seen the film I feel better placed to offer an opinion here. I believe there are core aspects that need to feature in any Ninja Turtles incarnation:
- exploration and development of the turtles' characters
- a dark depiction of New York City, with seedy back alleys and moonlit, shadow-strewn rooftops
- martial arts
- Splinter imparting wisdom
- a genuine threat to the turtles, which they ultimately overcome
Anything else is superfluous.
With that in mind, I would now like to see them try something new. Nickelodeon is giving plenty of exposure to the mutagen, Krang, Dimension X, aliens, mutants and monsters (plus Bebop and Rocksteady due to make an appearance); the PD film has tackled The Shredder. I'm not particularly interested in seeing yet another rehash of this material.
I'd be quite happy if they come up with something fresh, maybe using some elements that have had less exposure in the mainstream films and Nick toon. There's lots of potential in street criminals, organised crime, government agencies / scientists keen to experiment on the turtles or hunt them down.
Ultimately I would like to see something that feels realistic and plausible, but fresh and new.
Now we've had an introduction to them through April's eyes, the plot should centre on the turtles themselves. They are an interesting enough subject matter to carry the plot. So the threat should be against them, not just a generic threat that they need to save others from.

Love the first movie, but would love to see more plot development, so here's what I want for TMNT 2!
-Some sort of connection to Splinter & Shredder, they fought and reacted like they knew each other, I think there's something else going on there.
-I want to see more of the Channel 6 crew, let's keep them a part of the movie like they were the '87 cartoon.
-I want to see a different villain for the most part, maybe like a introduction to someone that's never been live action-movie'd in the past. But I'd like the Shredder to remain a background character, possibly like the Emperor from Star Wars in Empire Strikes Back. You knew he was there, you knew he was the big evil, but he let the other's do his work for him. Maybe we could have a backstory where The Shredder is back in Japan recruiting for a revenge plan or something.
-I want Eric Sachs explored more, this needs to happen.
-More 'moments' between the Turtles themselves, I don't want the comedy as much as I do the genuine moments where you realise in the end they only have each other.

First and foremost, I want the studio to fix Mike's mask. Make it so it looks more like Leo's and Raph's. I hate how the eye holes are sitting up high his eyes. It's what's making him look weird.
Second...if they can find a way to make Splinter a little more attractive even for a rat... I hope they do. Because he looks like a total sleezy/greasy creature from the threshold of hell.
I'd love to see Casey Jones, Bebop and Rocksteady.
Finally... a solid script. Nothing more, nothing less.

Sometimes redesigning the leads is jarring, but in this case, it could only be an improvement.
Splinter was the worst of it for me, but that's also like saying which excrement is worse, dog, or monkey?
He resembled a rat, but in the most horrifying way...and was soooo cartoony, like a sweaty, rubbery claymation puppet.

The worst in Splinter was his telescopic tail...
I mean: there is this scene, when the turtles come home as they first meet April. Splinter stands 3-4 meters (sorry, I don't know how many feets these are) away, and he beats the turtles with his taul, without turning back. or the same in his fight wit the foot soldiers. So his tail should be at least 4 meters long.
But when his tail is relaxed behind him, it's not longer than a meter.

This is a copy+paste from a old topic of mine.
+ In beginning of movie have Splinter have dreams of his after life where Shredder kills him and his sons like in the IDW comic. It could be that they are recurring dreams. This way Shredder and Splinter actually have a rivalry. This would also explain why Splinter learned Ninjitsu from a book since he really was just unlocking knowledge from what he already knew in his past life and it makes him to be Hamato Yoshi. This isn't my favorite or in but it would make the one in the first less flat and stupid.
+ it is discovered Sachs is a Utron/Krang that came to earth century's ago and at one point ran into Oroku Saki and made a deal with him. Due to this Krang gave Shredder a way to live and not age for century's.
+ Somehow the turtles start to demutate due to something that happens where they shrink some but Donnie is able to stop the process but the turtles are now less muscular and in the 5ft+ range in height.

My two cents. I want....
http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac252/benman011/TMNTII.jpg
- Baxter Stockman as the lead villain (keep Krang for Part 3. Baby steps. Can't go from a villain who's a businessman to a TALKING BRAIN straight away). Have him kill Eric Sacks early on. Idris Elba (though he might be a bit too imposing) or Eddie Murphy (I miss this dude/he could use a hit/can do dark characters/looks the part).
- Bebop & Rocksteady as his henchmen he's created (also keeps it in the vein of SOTO). Don't use them strictly as a tool for city destruction. Have them funny one minute/scary the next. They're not comic relief. They're bad muthaf*ckers. They could also use armor piercing rounds in their guns so the "we're bulletproof!" bull goes out the window. Potentially the two most dangerous henchmen in movie history. Voiced by Wesley Snipes & Danny McBride.
- A slightly unhinged Casey Jones. Cast a traditionally 'hunky' dude if you want as long as you make the character a bit... not right in the head. Want him to have some edge, not just be your typical romantic lead in an action film. Liam Hemsworth is a TMNT fan & chicks love him. Bet on his name at least being rumoured.
- No point asking for a new April since it's not gonna happen, so improve the April you've got. In 'This Is 40', Megan Fox is sexy, down-to-earth & someone you would wanna hang with in real life. Write her a better part so she can be an April worth watching.
- Not every scene has to be about the mission. Have some hanging out time. TMNT 1990 literally had the Turtles ordering a pizza... and then waiting for it to arrive. Raph goes to see a movie. Everyday sh*t. You can do it all briefly without making a meal of it. Also, it's crucial we see April getting to know the Turtles & having a friendship. Would also give Fox a chance to show some personality.
- Put some focus on Leo. You could rationalize his role in the first as the enigmatic leader. An icon who you're not supposed to get to know. Can't do that twice, though. I really want them to remake his one shot comic where he's nearly beaten to death. The Nick Show did it's own intense depiction of it in their S2 finale.
- Add some drama for Mikey. Need something to wipe that creepy grin off his face. And stop with the "girlfriend" talk to April. They've written her as an almost paternal figure to the turtles. Having one of them hit on her is now extra weird.
- Kill Vern. I don't even mean that in a mean way. Since there's no point having him & Casey in the same movie, give him a dramatic death scene. He's the 2nd human the Turtles have ever gotten to know. His death would mean something. Add some darkness & up the stakes. No reason why we can't have a Turtles movie in the tone of Empire Strikes Back.
- NINJA FIGHTING (not just punches & the odd kick here & there). Proper roundhouse kicks & ninjutsu. Mikey actually hitting people with his nun-chucks. Bruce Lee-yelps & battle cries. There were hints of them in the first movie, but I'm talking "HUWHAAAARRRGH". Simply hearing the Turtles fight in the 1990 movie was awesome alone.
- I'm concerned about Jeremy Howard's Donatello. Funny in the first movie but could become Jar-Jar in the sequel very easily. Tone him down a bit.
- Let Vanilla Ice cameo. Not a blatant one, but enough for SOTO fans to get a smile out of. He'd be over the moon lol
- Act like it's standalone, like the best sequels do. Don't do that Marvel sh*t where you pepper stuff all through it that'll lead to the next, on-and-on so you're never fully satisfied. I don't like how franchise movies are now treated like television episodes.
- F*ck off with the bad end credit hip-hop songs. Every Turtle movie has an obligatory rap song at the end which always ages badly (or in Shell Shock's case, instantly). We can break the cycle here. Or get Wu-Tang Clan in to do it right.

Well opinions and all and the freedom to have them. Personally I was of the opinion more along the lines of "wtf." Not being hokey and having a decent sound doesn't save those lyrics from being the worst one imo. I found a version on YouTube with only the music and hook...so much better. If there is no such thing as non-ghetto rap now, maybe it's time to just stop. Embracing change after all, Turtles don't have to have rap. (Fun my butt, lyrics were unoriginal and kinda ignorant...)

TMNT films may have been known for corny rap songs that have been seen as guilty pleasures but Shell Shocked was not a good song, nor did it represent the heart and soul of TMNT IP, at all.

Well...then it works well since the film had no heart and soul, either.
How about a sequel where:
*the Title Characters are the Actual main characters
*Where the family actually act like a family WITH EACH OTHER...you know, actually talk with each other? Have Mikey play a prank on Raph? You know, Actual Family Stuff which the new film had None of?
*The Turtles Actually have a Fingernail of Depth, instead of the Zilch and Nada in the new film...since Leo was a Nothing, Donnie was a Nerd (because he snored and wore Glasses), and Mikey was a Douche (seriously, this is the WORST Mikey Ever).

I would rather them reboot it with a more adult version. As there are two different audiences both wanting TMNT related stuff, this should be catered for. There is now a large adult following that would die for a serious take based on the original comic books.
Think Sin City, in black and white with the only colours red bandannas flapping in the wind. Serious story, serious consequences, nasty villains. The turtles more vigilante and rough justice than quippers relying on cartoon physics. (Best line ever, another nod to Everything Wrong with TMNT in 14 mins)
Real ninja stuff, real martial arts skills. Get the guys from Epic Rivals in those suits designed for the movie and have them flipping around doing the good stuff. Take away the lips for those who really hate them and do one 'JUST FOR THE OLDER FANS.' Not an eight year old follower of Nickelodeon's latest offspring, but for the more hardcore adult fanbase that has stuck around for the past thirty years, or even twenty years, or even ten.
Mikey can still be a funny guy, but he would knock you out if you were Foot Ninja in three seconds flat. There would be no shell tightening jokes at all, only Mikey making fun of his adversaries in combat. Making them angry and losing control. Then knocking them unconscious with actual consequences to being hit with a pair of nunchuk. Spitting teeth, bruising, split lips, the lot.
Yeah, it would have an adult rating, but most of the fans would see it because the majority of us are over eighteen anyway. Even followers from the 2003 cartoon have grown up now into adults.
I don't see why it has to be childish all the time. I really want a meaty ninja turtle story ... and I've been craving it since I was fifteen.

My biggest wish would to not have a sequel at all, but since it's happening, here are the things I'd like to see:
1. More family interactions with the Turtles.
2. TMNT doing every day things like training, Mikey cooking, Raph beating on a punching dummy, Leo in the dojo, Donnie actually working in his lab, etc.
3. More Karai since she was barely there.
4. Actual Foot Ninjas and not that military sh*t we had in this movie.
5. Actual martial arts being used.
6. Splinter/Shredder rivalry. This is the most iconic thing in the TMNT mythos and yet they ignore it. Sure, they may have reacted to each other, but I want to see an actual back story.
7. Better writing and more depth to the characters instead of the bland stuff that was presented.
8. None of the Turtles hitting on April. That sh*t's ridiculous.
9. More of an explanation as to why April abandoned the Turtles and threw them in the sewers. I think it would have been better if she'd escaped the fire and lost sight of the Turtles and Splinter and they escaped from the fire into the sewers. That would have been a bit more excusable instead of her just flat out abandoning them.
And that's all I can really think of.

Well, Bubbly, don't feel too bad about the goldfish or the Betta. Their average life-spans are only about 2-3 years for the goldfish, and 5 for the Betta, in most cases. So you didn't lose out on much, fortunately. (Most fish are rather short-lived, sadly.)
What I'd like in a sequel- more martial arts, certainly, and some nice "family" moments, of course, but one thing I'd LOVE would be a few scenes of each of them doing what they enjoy most- like Mikey playing a video game or skateboarding, Donnie tinkering with something, or Leo meditating.

Reboot, sequel, sequel, reboot...guys, you're making this harder than it has to be. I'd simply do a new turtles movie, with the turtles having been fighting shredder for some time, with only a few vague references to past events. His foot ninja have failed to defeat the turtles, so he has Baxter Stockman mutate Rocksteady and Bebop and create the mouser army to fight them.
The only carryover from the last film is Megan Fox April. Sachs? Don't mention him, Baxter Stockman has always been Shredder's scientist. Just have Baxter make a comment about how he used his plot-science to disguise himself to impersonate a rich business man for years. The turtle's hulking bodies? Slim em' down right from the start and clean the junk off their designs without going too much into it in the plot. Simply have April make a comment about how much smaller they look, and Mikey makes a crack about 'Thanks to our training, dudette, I think we just lost a little weight around the shell'. A comment about Vernon getting a job elsewhere takes care of him, and simply have Splinter make a few mystical comments, like. "In a previous lifetime, I was a ninja named Yamato Yoshi, blah blah blah..."
There, a few sentences, and you have a movie that works for everyone. First Movie lovers can think of it as a sequel, first movie haters can see it as a new story with no ties, is it really THAT hard t make another turtles movie that just keeps moving forward?

Not to be mean, but your solution to explicitly stating the corrections is stupid. All that does is to leave huge contradictions within the film by saying the first one happened but we want to do something completely contradictory to the universe that was set up. I'm not at all against doing what the 2007 TMNT film or the Incredible Hulk did and give a 5 min intro laying out the background that can vaguely be tied into previous iterations and going on a new adventure from there.
For me personally, I want a reboot because I think we're better served to wipe the slate clean. In doing so, I don't want to see Turtles meet April and fight the Shredder at the end. I know prefer the Hero Ninja theme instead of the Vicious Cycle theme, but I think the Vicious Cycle theme is something that would set TMNT apart from other mainstream comic book films if they approached it 100%. The belief that Han shooting first makes him unredeemable is something that shouldn't have the hold it does in Hollywood. Hell, they make it a point in the first Iron Man that Tony Stark has no clue that his company is arming terrorist organizations before he's abducted. That's something only a villain would do.

It's been awhile since I've seen the Incredible Hulk, but outside of tidbits of his backstory there's nothing really tying it to Ang Lee's Hulk. Panda is suggesting that they actively reference and explain away controversial aspects of the film whereas the Incredible Hulk pretended Ang Lee's Hulk never existed without actively contradicting it. If they go the Incredible Hulk route, I don't think they can use the Shredder like Panda wants.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on whether your suggestions are too overt to go the Incredible Hulk route. Baxter saying he impersonated a white businessman seems pretty overt mention to the previous film. I personally think there was just far too much done drastically in the first film that there's no smoothing over and moving forward or even flat out ignoring it. It's all a moot point anyways.
As for people not going to see the reboot so soon, I don't think that would be the case. I think it would struggle given how bad the previous film was. The highest grossing X-Men film is X-Men 3 because it was coming off X2. I would bet X-Men Apocalypse becomes the highest grossing one even if it's bad. TMNT will have to bite the bullet on that at some point when it comes time for the reboot.
