Just noticed on amazon the preorder for the new movie is already available. There is a deluxe boxset that includes a Raphael statue. Pretty cool for any fans of the new film

Personally I would have loved for a statue with all 4 turtles. I will most likely end up getting this

Well it did say in the description that Raph won in an online contest...
I agree with pihb... a diorama of all 4 from the statues would have been the best.

No, it says "Amazon exclusive figure"
Which might mean "Buy the Wal-Mart edition for Leonardo!" "Buy the Target edition for Donatello!"
Yeah, you'll get 4 copies of the movie to buy them all, but do it! DOOO IIIIT!
Not a guarantee, but there's been a lot of milking of retail-exclusive "special editions" in the past couple of years. Granted, this would be better as it's the statue. The ones I've seen were extra features and behind the scenes exclusive to each different retailer.
No thanks. I've got the Sideshow statues of the classic look. Not shelling out $80 for this movie and a single statue.

Aww dang it! Not that I don't like Raph, he's my second favorite.
But I want a Donnie figure with my set!!! :p
Poor nerd lol. But that's awesome that this is already available for pre-order. I never expected to see it this soon. Then again, didn't they kind of release that Nintendo 3DS game quickly much like the news about this DVD set is already out and about, and the movie just came out in theaters this morning.
Looks like I'm gonna have to beg or steal just to get the money to get on the Pre-Order waiting list as well.

Is this statue worth $50? any specs on it? size weight ect?? If anyone knows please let me know. If its of decent size I could see myself getting this, I never get big editions of movies like this, but I might make an exception for the Turtles.

I hope that's what it is. Different places will have an exclusive figure, because unfortunately Amazon, whomever offers me Donnie, is gonna get my cash like nobody's business lol.
Praying Best Buy might have Don, but I guess we'll see. So, do you guys think the second disc in the set may be for extra goodies? I hope so. I was really intrigued when they spoke of the motion capture suits and such. And I'd love to see bloopers and all. Commentary. I eat up the extras almost as much as the movies themselves.

No, it says "Amazon exclusive figure"
Right... but what I said still stands:
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) Limited Edition Gift Set includes a highly detailed collectible statue of Raphael, winner of the online contest to become the Amazon exclusive figure...
The question by Indigo was "why can't it also be regular DVD and Turtle of choice"... I just stated that according to Amazon the reason it's Raph was because of a contest held... not saying we wouldn't get the others from other retailers. I seriously hope that we do get the other ones, but more than likely the other versions will be like a Best Buy Steelbook version and whatnot.

figure stands 6.5 inches tall atop a detailed street scene display base, complete with sewer entrance, and spans over 7 inches wide and nearly 5 inches deep
The value I guess would depend on what it's made of and what the actual paint apps look like... If it's vinyl - hells no. If it's resin or something heavy like that and paint apps looks decent, it will be 'worth it'.

My guess would be vinyl akin to the Assassin's Creed and Batman: Arkham City video game collector's edition.
Those types of figure/statues are usually ballpark $50-$75 like the Kotobukiya figures.
I don't see resin or polystone likely for a DVD release, though I suppose they did do so with Lord of the Rings. Just not sure Paramount will invest that sort of additional money.

Just skip that and go straight digital! I have a WD LIVE box and I swear by it. The only physical media I buy now are 3D BDs.

I have a few polystone things from various releases. I have an Optimus bust as well as a helm from 300. But those are on the smaller size. Vinyl would be a little more reasonable for something as bulky as Raph. I can see a slight bend in his Sai now that I take a closer look as well. Hopefully that's not an issue!

For people who loved the movie, I would highly recommend holding off on this. Just be patient and keep your eyes on sources like Sideshow or Hot Toys. Granted, you can always pre-order and cancel if maquettes are announced.
For me, nothing will ever match the Sideshow statue line (http://i608.photobucket.com/albums/tt163/Bezzerkerr/IMG_0920.jpg), but I could see a release of the turtles and perhaps Shredder maquettes from the movie.
They'll be more expensive if they happen, but I'd consider it $50 far more well invested in maquettes.
Of course, if the film underperforms, then I doubt they'll invest the funds to produce maquettes, in which case this is your best statue option.

I guess the hot new trend is to release deluxe editions of your movies with trophies and statues. At least the Raphael statue is better than buying your own personal bust of Electro's head (http://wac.450f.edgecastcdn.net/80450F/screencrush.com/files/2014/04/stupid-electro-head.jpg).

Purdy sure the guy you quoted is right. There was a online contest on Facebook that said "Name your fav turtle" and whoever gets named the most gets the exclusive statue for amazon. I think they could only make one. So they went with the contest. Otherwise what is the point if all of them are gonna be available.
I was surprised that Raphael outnumbered all of the turtles. Nice to know that there are a lot more Raphael fans than I previously thought.

This looks like a very possible buy for me for the new movie release. Raph's my favorite so it does seem pretty likely that I'll get this. Especially since the Prime 1 Studious 1/4 scale statue will probably cost a whole lot of money and this Raph is in the same pose anyway. Very nice to see this so soon for the Blu-Ray release.

Its interesting that they would have Pre-Orders of the Blu-Ray already out, Yet there is no info on whats in it, Sure the movie, But it would be nice to know what Special Features it comes with.
For me I hope its got Director's Commentary, Maybe Commentary from the Writers as well.
Deleted Scenes with Commentary, That is a must.
BTS Documentaries on the making of this film, I bet they will have a Documentary on the History of TMNT, Maybe they should include the Turtle Power Documentary as part of the Package.

This is a popular trend right now. As a tentpole flick hits screen, pre-orders hit Amazon, with temp cover art, no release date, and no info on special features or variations of versions offered.
I'm with you. I don't pre-order until I know what'll be available. I always try to get the version with the most special features, which often means buying a "3D Blu Ray + Blu Ray + Special Features + DVD + Digital Copy + VHS + Betamax" edition. :D

wal-mart version sucks (but target's is worse for an 'exclusive')
those little plastic toys look worse than gashapon you'll probably throw them in a drawer and forget you even own them
on the other hand, the raph statue in the amazon version could end up being rather nice. could sit that on a shelf and admire it for decades.
investments!
Here is the way I see it... even though the movie was a disappointment to me and the overall design of the 2014 turtles is not to my liking, it's still an interesting alternate take on them and I actually think Raph is the best looking of the 4. hopefully in the next ten years we'll have a new turtle movie out by then and if the gods are good it will be WAY better than the 2014 version. Even then, I'll still look back on the 2014 designs with curiosity and it will be nice to own a statue like this to remind me of it.

What I want to know is if we will get deleted scenes particularly that of April and Vernon fighting Karai and Taylor driving Raphael and April to save the turtles in a Porsche that were altered from the script during reshoots.
If they reference Sacks being Shredder at all I wouldn't count on it. But if it's a stand alone scene I'm sure it will be on there. I hope anyways!

This man speaks the truth.
Not only it's hard not having a menu, subtitle (even it has, the font is usually horrid), no additional features or bonuses, poor sound quality, the pic quality and smoothness/frame rate are not the same as blu ray.
Chalk me up as one of the consumers looking forward for this preorder.

The lack of menu, subtitles, bonuses and features don't bother me. Not having that stuff doesn't bug me one bit. If I have them? Cool. If not? Oh well. The only time I would have a problem with the blu ray rips is if they are bad quality.

Eh, headaches are saved. I don't need to spend too much on special items, or need to wait for loading, or have to drive around to get stuff that is required for watching blu ray movies with a blu ray player. I can instantly watch them. I also don't need to worry about ruined discs when all is well. You wanna pay for them? Fine, that's your prerogative. If I couldn't get them for free then I wouldn't do so, and the thing with blu rays is that for someone like, it would be a waste of money cause they aren't bare bones. Like I said before, I don't need the extra stuff like features and bonuses.

Honestly it's a surprise to ME. I even bought TMNT III and TMNT. But this one? No. Just no. If they do make a sequel to this travesty and it's actually GOOD, as in GOOD not 'just not as bad;, I'll gladly buy that one, but still won't turn around and buy this one. If a sequel must be made let's hope go with the Incredible Hulk route where the first one kinda/sorta happened but you don't really need to acknowledge its existence.

That's why I always buy the Blu-ray if it's available. iTunes and places like that compress the video a lot, and even Blu-ray rips online are often compressed to reduce upload and download time. Better to spend 20 or so bucks on the real thing than worry about downloading a dozen gigabytes only to watch it in slightly inferior quality.
Plus I like having physical media.
The only reason I might even consider buying this movie is if there's an extended cut. Like, a really extended cut that makes the movie tolerable and hopefully more logical.

I would hold off pre-ordering the Blu-Ray until, They release info on whats in it. I just hope its not a bare bones release.
I hate when Studios do that to some movies, Release a Bare Bones version of the movie with no special features, Just the movie and trailers, Then a few months later, They release a special edition version with all the goodies.
Paramount did this with the 3rd Transformers movie.

I never buy two versions of a movie on the exact day a movie is released with different versions and store exclusives. But I have to say that I really want that Raph statue and the Raph cover of the Target version. And the Target version also comes with an extra disc. I may get the Amazon version for the statue and the Target one for the movie. I could gift the Amazon movie to a friend I guess.
By the way, I think the release date might be December 9th. I think someone from forum.blu-ray.com said that they saw that date attached to the release dates of these new TMNT 2014 Movie releases. I also heard that Best Buy's exclusive will be a steelbook.

Actually, I can proudly say I did not. Didn't buy a ticket, didn't see it, and not buying the DVD/Blu ray...some just don't understand the appeal of wanting Bulletproof Super Heroes in an April O'Neil movie instead of Ninja Turtles with perhaps at least a bit of actual character development, some actual emotional parts that aren't phony & are earned...as well as being the star of their own movie (and perhaps doing many memorable and bad-ass Martial Arts fight sequences where they show skill, not just Brute Strength or 'hey, we can slide down a mountain').
So yes...I guess some of us are weird for wanting that in a Ninja Turtles film.

No offense but there was not one ounce of character develop for the turtles in this movie. Everyone stayed the same from beginning to end. Yeah, I felt like I was watching the April O' Neil movie because a majority of the film was about her. The turtle's story wasn't even the focus of the film.

Thanks for proving that link. It'll definitely come in handy for me.
As for the store exclusives, nothing really stands out to me. So I guess I'll just go for the store that sells the movie the cheapest. Steelbook packaging is cool, but I've never been compelled to own steelbook packaging. I'd be more interested if they had an extra disc of special features, or even some kind of literature that would interest me.

This is more believable. For Amazing Spider-Man 2 is playing at the dollar theatres and is out on DVD and unless a movie is limited release or is a big bomb this is uusally the case having the film in the dollar theatre market while on fresh on the DVD market.
