Let's see if we can influence PD to get a decent director for the sequel.

We're not going to get someone like Chris Nolan, but maybe we can get some up and comers or someone who has shown that they can do a movie like TMNT II.

A few suggestions

McG - I loved Terminator Salvation. He's been relegated back to dumb movies and tv shows. I think what he did with an established franchise was very good. And he stays VERY faithful to the origins.

Rob Schrab - He's directed a bunch of animated stuff, and he's directed a few episodes of Community. I have no doubt he could pull off a TMNT movie.

Matt Reeves - He did an amazing job on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. He's worked with incredible Mo-Cap.

Doug Liman - Directed Edge of Tomorrow, Bourne Identity, Jumper

Matthew Vaughn? Dude lost his KickAss sequels, X-Men Sequels and never even had a shot at his dream project, StarWars. So, he's my number one pick. I believe he should be available, he knows how to film great fight scenes, I like his style, his choice of music, and he knows how to build character development.

Nimrod Antal - He directed Predators, and Vacancy. Yes those are action/horror, and horror, but the guy has the creativity to be able to do something w/ the Turtles.

Let's hear some more suggestions.

Darren Aronofsky. The Wrestler, The Fountain, Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan. He came close to directing The Wolverine but dropped out :(

If there is one thing that can make the sequel better it's replacing Liebsman. I do not think TMNT was an improvement over any of his past work from a creative standpoint, but it's clearly a box office success thanks to the strong brand and some good humor (thanks mikey) and cgi

Joss Whedon (although thats never going to happen)
Steve Barron - Dude knows how its done

If Joss Whedon were to direct, I promise you anyone who thought the first movie would be all about April would be right about the second one. Dude loves making sh*t all about the ladies.

Yeah seriously. Maria Hill and Black Widow were going to be the focus of Avengers before Disney got him to rewrite.

Honestly I had no problem with Liebsman. Just hope the script for the sequel is a little more serious. Hop they go the City at War/City Fall route. Would be so dope to actually have them introduce Bebop,Rocksteady and Casey. Then have Shredder actually take conrol of New York. Ending the film with a cliffhanger. And a end credit scene teasing General Krang.

I just have this feeling w/ all the cut footage, that he did a terrible job and the editor had to save his ass. What the editor put together was ok for me, but I want so much more out of the sequel.

Hire somebody who doesn't use the shaky cam gimmick.

BS. Black Widow wasn't even in the first draft because they were unsure of Scarlett's availability.

It did have the Wasp though.

Let's get back on track, Joss is not going to do a TMNT sequel, can we get some legit suggestions?

Brett Ratner just directed the Hercules movie. Did anyone see it? I haven't and it's like the first Rock flop in years.

Ratner would be another bland studio director that has no distinguishable vision. Basically Liebesman without the shaky cam.

As long as bay is producer, getting rid of lieberman won't matter. Some one with the same style will be given the job. What we need is better writers.

Edger Wright would be my choice. He has done some great work in the past.

Edgar Wright is awful. I thought that scott pilgrim vs the word was really craptacular, as for the rest of his body of work? It's not appealing to me.

X-men: first class and the wolverine (the director's cut) are the only good x-meny films if you ask me.

Someone said Aronofsky? Really? For This? That guy's kind of more than a little overrated as it is, but I couldn't even imagine how bad his TMNT would be.

I honestly don't know who I'd pick. It's not entirely relevant as it wouldn't be anyone with a distinctive style (or the accompanying price tag). They're only ever gonna have "hired hand" directors on this series. The overall "look" of the movie(s) is set by the studio, so the guy behind the camera isn't the biggest piece of the puzzle.

I kind of think they'd only get a different director if it was to get someone cheaper, and that wouldn't be a good start at all.

X-Men first Class is the only one he directed. He dropped the sequel to hopefully get dibs on the Star Wars projects, but since this is now the second franchise he walked away from, Disney probably thought he was too much of a risk, so then went with J.J Abrahms, who at least sticks with his franchise.

But seriously, if I can get a TMNT with an edge like this,
z-HnSeMQ_YA

I will be so happy. Don't even need the cuss words or the extreme violence, it's just the tone, the music and the atmosphere that was awesome.

Let's flex our muscles for a new director for the sequel!
Or at the very least be vocal enough to get them to listen to the audience and evaluate what the first could have done with or without and go from there with the second.

OK. My vocal discontent was shaky cam. The Hunger Games suffered from that (but, I can understand why they had to do what they did) and now, with the new movies coming out, they are being shot a helluva lot more clear and crisp.

Scott Pilgrim versus the world had great comedy and action it was also was visually amazing. Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the dead are pure gold.

Edgar Wright was the first person I thought of...but he dropped out of Ant-Man for creative differences, could you imagine how fast he would drop out of TMNT 2?!

Also, he's a big name, I doubt he's into doing sequels.

NinjaPug

Haha. No chance Edgar Wright would work with Platinum Dunes and vice versa. Wright actually has vision and cares about the quality of his work - you can see why that wouldn't work with PD.

God yes, when TMNT started with that camera movement that was painful on the eyes. Ugh, why use that. Was quite glad they didn't do that for long, had me worried for a sec. >.<

This is my thought. The screenplay needs to be stronger, but I don't expect that with Appelbaum & Nemec. We'll have another full script of Mikey hitting on April every scene and little to no character development as they go all out for action beat after action beat.

Hey, maybe April can beat Bebop and Rocksteady for the turtles. :D

Why not Michael Bay himself produce and direct.

Again, with the right screenplay....y'know what....

The man directed The Rock and Bad Boys. I'd be down with this, particularly with Bad Boys having a good action comedy mix.

It really is a group effort somewhat. Need a solid script, give it to Bay and have the right actors (which I think they have for the turtles). Heck, some of the funniest lines in Bad Boys were a result of Bay telling only Lawrence or Smith "Alright, in this scene, just call him ___ and see where we go" and he let them improv some scenes with it.

Dunno if it's true, but I'd read the elevator scene was improv'd.

On the other hand, he lost his mind during Bad Boys II and randomly invaded Cuba.
But I'd still be more willing to give it a shot.

Definitely new writers. But I wished we could get Guillermo del Torro but he'll be busy with Pacific Rim 2 (which I can't wait for).

I skipped it, I was going to see it, but I changed my mind cause I did not like how the future sentinels looked and remembered that I wasn't a fan of bryan singer's version of x-men.

uhhhh no. I'd rather we flex our muscles for a reboot. Making a sequel to a bad movie is already dooming the movie. Unless you make it kinda like Incredible Hulk where it kinda sorta ignores the first movie and makes it feel more like a soft reboot...
