Ugh. Reddit. Can't wait to read 100 people asking him sh*t we've known since the 90's, as well as hostile & misinformed folks who still think the turtles are supposed to be aliens in the new movie.

I've got an account and I'll ask questions on peoples' behalf if they want me to. Just let me know precisely what to ask, and don't flood me with **** you know someone else is gonna ask.

So does anyone know the actual thread we'll be posting questions to? I don't go on Reddit often, so I'm unsure of the page set ups work. I take it there will be a page set up eventually?

He answered one of my AMA Questions. :D
Me
What were the inspirations behind the creation of The Shredder?
Kevin Eastman
Peter & I were doing dishes one night. I was drying off a metal cheese grater and I turned to Pete and said, "Man, can you image a bad guy with one of these on his arm. He'd shred your arm off. We could call him the Grater." Peter suggested The Shredder. Absurd ideas can come from anywhere when you're dealing with TMNT.

I get the impression he wouldn't have answered that anyway. Kevin Eastman doesn't seem to be as elaborate in his answers as Peter Laird was.
Also he spelled things wrong too.

Yes, ever since it was mentioned in the Behind the Shells video 23 YEARS AGO.

That's not canon. He's giving me the impression that he wasn't sure himself. Didn't he also say Karai was Shredder's daughter in the Mirage comic books when that would have been physically impossible considering her age?

I saw he spelled Krang "Crang" so I'm assuming he had someone typing for him. A lot of people who do AMA's have someone type.

Nah, that was definitely him. He even admits himself he's got terrible spelling issues, & the scripts I've seen prove that. :trazz:

I don't think everyone needs to gang up on the guy, but yeah ...
It's really a good idea/general courtesy to do a little research before these things to make sure you don't end up asking something that's already on record.

To be honest, I went in there knowing he wouldn't answer anything all that interesting anyway. I liked the sillier questions more just because of that. Peter Laird is the one that'll answer the more interesting questions, he appears to be more opinionated.

Did anyone ask him who his favorite Turtle is? I always thought it was eluded but never actually confirmed by Eastman himself that it was Raphael.

I thought so too, but whenever I brought it up in the past, many of the technodrome old timers tell me it's never been confirmed. I know Laird has been specific with Donny being his favorite, but nothing concrete from Eastman.

Out of the entire franchise, or just the movie? The reason people are speculating Raph, was because I am assuming when Eastman did a comic all his own, it was mostly on Raphael.
Well, I read the interview, and I guess it's now confirmed. Laird's favorite is Donatello and Eastman's favorite is Michelangelo.
But then again, in this interview, he says Raphael is his favorite. Or, at least is favorite to write and the one he most relates to. http://www.webcomicalliance.com/webcomic-news/interview-with-kevin-eastma/

Several times. He kept saying Mikey.
That was a pretty useless advertisement for the new film. He didn't really have anything new to say and much of what he did say was misinformed or downright ignorant. "I'd like to see a comic with the turtles in their 30's" I'm misquoting and paraphrasing, but sheesh. Research your co-creators and ol partner's most recent work on the franchise for Christ's sake.

Yeah, I'm not buying his "Mikey is my favorite" considering the past, with comics like Body Count, and him even confirming that Raph is the one he relates to the most and is his favorite to write. I think he was just saying that because Mikey is Megan Fox's favorite Turtle.
Netkeeper
08-15-2014, 11:18 PM
Yeah, I thought that was really odd myself. I honestly thought it might have just been a switch in favourites over the years, since that can very well happen. He did mention how much he liked 2k12's take on Mikey, which may have something to do with it.
Though of course it's still totally possible he's saying it for Megan Fox or the new movie, too.
