I guess it shouldn't be too surprising, but it's a little funny he had (has?) no idea the Turtles are already 30 somethings in the Mirage comics.

Kevin doesn't seem to know Krang isn't in the comics either, unless he was referring to IDW.

Kevin always came across as more of a fan himself than the series co-creator. It really is astonishing that he's the total opposite of Peter in his view of the franchise overall.

I said the same ****! He said that crap on Reddit too! Really kind of frustrating. Makes me feel a little more loyalty to Laird. I flip-flopped.

Yeah, Eastman just created the first turtle as a joke and Laird saw this huge potential he went with it and they created the comic. Eastman probably saw it as put as much cool stuff you can think there while Laird worried about the characters and what was happening. So yeah Eastman just doesn't seem to be aware of what exactly he helped create, he definitely was a part of it but without Laird TMNT would've never existed. It truly was a collaboration.

Well we already knew he hadn't kept up with the franchise during the 2000s so it's unsuprising he'd still not feel any need to do it now however I think it's more surprising that he doesn't know Peter Parker left high school back in the sixties. If he read Marvel comics in the 80s he'd surely know that - or maybe he does but being deliberately glossing over that to better illustrate his point.

That's what I always found so fascinating. Stuff by just Laird is VASTLY different by stuff by just Eastman, guess it was just lightning in a bottle where both their creative sensibilities melded to make something iconic instead of say some kind of incomprehensible disaster.
