View Full Version : How to have Peace

I have been reading some posts on this message board, and it saddens me that a lot of people do not seem to have peace. I think a lot of people are searching for something to put meaning or happiness or purpose into their lives.

If someone had the answer for how to have peace and meaning, and they didn't share it, that would be a tragedy.

So I'm here to share with everyone how to have peace. Don't thank me, I'm just a representative and I am simply sharing with you what has worked for me. I don't think we're all too different. We're all human beings. We all have the same needs of love, food, shelter, acceptance, and I believe we all have goals for ourselves.

You might have your own opinions on various subject matters, and all I would like to do is share with you all what has worked for me. As we're all human beings, what works for me might work for you. We all have to make our own decisions.

This is one of my final posts on this website. I have one more to post, and then I'm done. I'm ready to do other things personally. So if you want to talk to me, you can't here, because I'm leaving.

This is not about me though. It is not about me at all. If I could post this anonymously, I would. I seek to help people.

I'm not here to promote religion. What I would like to do is share with you how to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus didn't come here to start a new religion. He came here so that you can be saved, have peace in your life, and have a relationship with God.

This website greatly helped me:

It's a nice sentiment, but this won't fly well with people.

I hope instead of people coming here to bash you, they post their own alternatives for finding peace.

Personally, I found life to be a lot more peaceful when I stopped concerning myself with who's judging me for what I do or say, & that goes for both Gods & men.

My peace is found in pepperoni pizza & the complete series of Full House on DVD.

I'm not really interested in religion.

That's funny, cuz I spoke to God this morning, and He said He doesn't believe in You either. That's wacky.

The key word is "works for me." We need something that works for all.

I think a lot of religion is great, when practiced, properly. I study/teach philosophy and have had to ready through multiple religions and see that, at the core teachings, no religion teaches hate...it's the terrible interpretations by humans that promote hate. I admire Christianity for their ways of promoting community, able to bring people, together, and participate in community events. I love Muslims that practice Ramadan, one of the five pillars, because it promotes humility in that people experience what it's like to not enjoy the simple luxuries that many of us experience, on a daily level, eating to fulfill our hunger, whenever.

But, we need to find common ground amongst all people, which includes people of religion. Like, we need to all agree on basic human rights, such as, people's rights to not be physically or speech-wise controlled by others, to be as philosophers put it "a means to their own end." Although, not to say there isn't consequences that people shouldn't face if they act a certain way or say certain things.

We, also, need to be exposed to everything, not just people within the comfort of your own community. That way, you don't misinterpret the meanings of people's speech. That's one of the main problems amongst eastern and western culture. People, from eastern cultures, speak more indirectly; whereas, westerners speak more directly. But, when they communicate, they fail to understand each other and often act on their lack of understanding.

So, I'm glad it works, for you. But, I hope you're not shutting yourself from a community because it's not within your comfort level. A lot of these online aggressive types are real sweat-hearts and would buy you a beer if they, ever, met you at a bar...it's, just, they don't speak the same way that you do.

I am interested to know your stand on Jihad. I have read various versus commanding and supporting violence or terror. I am not a scholar of Islam,(Actually follow Christ) but it really bothers me bc the versus have no historical context and speak of killing people who have different view through out the earth.... I can't call Islam a peaceful religion after reading some of the versus. I may have read them out of context.

Not everyone needs religion to have peace. I am trying so hard not to cuss you right now for such an assumption.

I find peace when I'm stoned or asleep. So... toke up and take a nap.

Wine, Women, and Song. Not necessarily in order of importance, but all to excess.

As Cure said... it's a nice sentiment, but most people on these forums cannot act civilly or rationally with certain subject matter... :ohwell:
