Okay, so I was in a discussion the other night with my hubby regarding my taste/interests in music, and he commented that I was probably the only person who would ever download the TMNT COoTS Tour soundtrack onto my playlist. Of course, I responded by saying that I knew for a fact that some of my fellow Dromers had done so also, and that someone else had to have posted/uploaded it somewhere online for me to even do so in the first place- I got them off you-tube, BTW- so obviously, others liked it too.

Now here's where it gets interesting. I made a comment that I'd always wondered who the actual vocalists/players were (their real names, of course) so he decided to look it up- and I was shocked- in a GOOD way- to find that apparently, Leo was performed/acted by none other than Cam Clarke! Who knew? I hadn't been aware of his musical talents until I bought my hubby the entire set of Robotech series and movies last X-Mas, where I heard him sing as Lancer/Yellow Dancer, and was surprised by how good he was.

Now, as a kid, and even more recently, listening to my tracks off of COoTS I'd always thought that one of the voices sounded familiar, but I didn't realize WHY until he started naming off the actual performers. Wow! I'm still amazed that he did that! Does anyone know anything more, or who the others were and if they ever did anything else? I always thought they sounded pretty good, even if the entire concert tour WAS really cheesy and silly. I'd like to know if anyone else has heard these guys elsewhere, or knows tidbits about the concert tour and resulting recording that they'd like to share.

Well, Pete Renaday who did the voice of OT Splinter also played him during the tour, I think. Sounds very similar, if not. Yeah, as a kid, I remember trying to tell folks that those two were the Splinter and Leo voice actors from TV but I got laughed at quite a lot then! I didn't have the Net back then. Of course, virtually no one did in the early 90's. So now it's nice to have evidence. And that sound track has some great tunes. Pizza Power is awesome. Great excuse to go out and buy pizza. Convince yourself the song made you do it. I think Pete mentioned the Coming Out of Their Shells tour in that podcast Rob did when he got the OT cast back together. I'm not sure, but I think Cam talked a little about it too.

All Cam did was dub Leonardo's speaking voice. When he addresses the kids in the crowd or talks to his brothers, that's Cam. When he's singing, it's Roger Kachel. Cam IS a talented singer, however, so he totally could have pulled it off were he asked to.

Indeed. I still enjoy Lion King 2 mainly because Cam is Simba's singing voice.

And you're right, he is a GREAT singer.

Are you sure? Because it definitely sounded like his voice when I listened to it again after learning this- especially certain parts of Sing About It and in the chorus parts of Count On Us. No Treaties sounds a LOT like him, too. Also, he is listed as the ONLY performer for Leo in the Tour Guide. Mikey was the only one listed with two performers. Are you sure it wasn't him you were thinking of? I'd have to look it up again, but I thought the name Renaday sounded familiar, too- just didn't know WHY. That makes so much sense now, LOL!

And am I the only one who thinks it's weird that Raph was on sax? Seems more like a Donnie thing, to me.... Then again, maybe it's a statement on his always blowing off steam. (read- hot air...)

Raph played sax? I need to watch this thing again! Yeah, the blowing off steam bit does make sense when you put it that way. I still don't know why they decided to give Shredder a double voice in this show, but I guess it fits. Hey, he didn't have a song, did he? I guess not, since I distinctly remember him despising music. He probably couldn't harmonize with himself at all anyway.

I am 100% sure, it's not Cam singing. You have to realize that they hired people who sounded somewhat like the voice actors so as to give it some authenticity. Though I don't hear the resemblance to the extent that you do.

So why isn't the other guy mentioned in the credits for the Tour Guide? That doesn't make much sense. Mikey's alternate was and so were all the others who had more than one (Splinter and Shredder were the only two, I think.), and his speaking parts were VERY different-sounding. It was pretty obvious he had more than one performer. If it's true, then whoever they did get sounded so similar it's eerie. The funny thing is that I never would have picked up on the singing thing at all if I hadn't already heard him sing in Robotech. He sounds almost exactly the same there, which is why I started paying closer attention to see if I could pick out his voice from the others. (And I didn't even know that was him in Lion King II!)

.....weren't the Turtles just voiced all by one guy during that tour? I swear the chorus parts of those songs sound like the same 'sound file' overlapped 4 times...
