Indeed i do think that that is an extremely good idea. I dont know if this has been posted before but what type of game is the new game supposed to be?

The new games supposed to be like the old games with the fighting mainly

And for clarity I meant RPG like the final fantasy games coz they rule

No, no, and no. That would NOT work. They don't belong in RPG format. Besides, not everyone likes RPGs, or Final Fantasy. At least they know that every, who liked the old beat-em-ups, would like a new beat-em-up.

Hey I wasn't complaining about the new game coming out (I'm getting it the 1st day it's out) I just thought it might be a cool thing to do. Well you did share your idea on it, thanks..

I don't know.. Maybe something based on Mirage would work.... Well I agree, beat 'em up is the right genre for TMNT.

It could work, if the battle system was based on the KOTOR engine.

a turtle rpg would be cool, but I still think the turtles would work out better in a grand theft auto style type game.

Well, right now I'm working on a hack of the original Final Fantasy starring the turtles. There's a thread about it in the fan works section. I think it would work, obviously, or else I wouldn't be doing it.

I was playing Fire Pro Wrestling Advance earlier and had an interesting idea of my own. In that game, when you create your own wrestler, you assign them a series of moves, skills, and logic dictating how the character acts and performs. The fighting style you choose dictates how effective your wrestler is at performing certain moves, as well as how fast they expend and regain energy (stamina is very important, as if you aren't careful you can become completely exhausted and unable to move for a time until you recover, at which point you're at your opponent's mercy). The logic you assign them dictates how they act when controlled by the computer, as in what moves they use most often in different situations, etc etc.

I was thinking it would be cool if, in a new TMNT game (obviously not the newest one but maybe a future one) if you could customize each of the Turtles' skills in a similar way where you assign them different styles and moves before you begin playing, and in mid-play you could "change up" and switch some things around for the character you're playing as (full style/attack/defense/skill/etc changes would only be permissable between levels, or at save points, or whatever). I think it could really add a lot to the gameplay, especially if all the enemies were of different skill and intelligence and it was easier to beat them with a certain style attack as opposed to others.

Of course, that's about a thousand times more effort any developer would put into a licensed game, but it's nice to think about.

Yes, a TMNT RPG would work BUT it wouldn't be totally RPG. I would think this is the best route to go down. First we take some inspiration from Metroid and Castlevania SOTN.

Now, we have a level up system that would work just fine, but a side scroller wouldn't really fit into this category. So, we take a GTAIII/VC stance on the whole issue. So now we have a decent game going (IMO), and alls you need now is to figure out how you'd make different enemies relate to your strength; because you can just fight a generic level 5 drone the whole way through.

Of course, the fighting would be in real time, and combos and new techniques could be learned. You could get certain items, like shurikens, shukos, all sorts of great things. I'm getting a little excited now...

It'd also be cool if there were different ways of finishing off opponents. I think the game would be even deeper if, rather than enemies just disappearing when KOed, like past TMNT games, they were only momentarily unconscious (like MGS and Batman: Vengeance). So, since the enemies (which by necessity there would be fewer of since recuperating enemies in addition to new enemies would be practically impossible to beat all at once) would be able to recover after a period of time, the way you put them out would effect how long they stay down for. There could be four types of attacks, and each keeps them down for a different period of time.

Weak - opponents recover quickly
Medium - opponents recover after a normal period of time
Strong - opponents stay down a long time
Lethal - opponents don't get up at all

Also, one of the Logics you could assign to each of the TMNT would be how likely they are to use lethal force (I'd say Raph's would be highest, Mike probably lowest). So to keep from using lethal force to permanently take out opponents, you could tie them up or cuff them to take them out, provided you have enough equipment to do so.

It would also be cool if sometimes the stealth aspect of being a ninja was part of the game. There could be entire levels where the objective was stealth (maybe infiltrating Shredder's tower without trying to be seen or trip any alarms), and if you're seen, you're deluged with enemies which you have to fight your way through. Each of the Turtles could have different stealth attributes you could tweak, like I'd say Leo would be highest, Raph or Mike lowest. I'd say it'd be a good idea to rip off - er, borrow from - MGS for the stealth parts of the game. Sneaking up on enemies and choking them out, knocking them out from behind and stuffing them in lockers or under tables to hide them from sight... you can't tell me that wouldn't be insanely awesome.

Maybe between levels there could be a Training Session exercise you could select a'la Ready 2 Rumble where you pump up your character's maximum stats with various training routines designed to enhance strength, speed, stealth, and agility. Like for example, say Raphael starts out the game with a maximum Speed attribute of 70%; by doing the Training Session exercise, he could increase his maximum Speed stats little by little.

I think all this stuff would be a perfect way of making an absolutely perfect TMNT game. Yes, it would borrow heavily from other games (Fire Pro, MGS and R2R specifically), but all these elements combined with the standard TMNT beat-'em-up action would make a complete TMNT game experience that could last as long as Metal Gear Solid if you wanted it to. I'd love it.

I think the best way to put the TMNT in to an RPG would be with a Secret of Mana style engine, where it's all done in real-time and there's a level system. Special attacks could work like a magic system. With AI you could have the other 3 turtles with you, and have other players take over controll of them when wanted/needed.

Even weapons could be leveled this way. Example: Donnie could start with a wooden bo, and then get it upgraded to a metal staff after he got more experiance on the weapon.

Leos idea of assigning fighting styles could even come in to play with the AI characters, or even on the main character, so all four turtles could have their own move set, like types (water>fire>earth and so on).
