They are slowly getting out of date, sadly.

Now the question is... are these exclusives limited to pre-order or will they (excluding Amazon of course) be in stores. Will Target have those slip covers in-store? Because I think I'd seen on their site last I looked that if ordered online the cover choice will be random. Also I think the Barnes & Noble is only via pre-order.

Yes... >.>

There really isn't any reason for DVD to fall out of use, I'm assuming it's more like the industry is trying to force it out. Personally I've never been impressed with Blu-ray, it's just another disc to me. Show me different technology like a small chip and then we can talk.

I've see that Eastman poster in B&N, and it's badass. I already want that more than all the other stuff.

But what I REALLY care about is the bonus features. When will we hear about those?

Looks like I'm going with the Walmart exclusive, since my wall is to filled for another poster and the extra BluRay disc is useless to me, since I don't own a BluRay player

What are those figurines on walmart?

They look like cardboard cut outs?

IndigoErth

Imo, they look a lot like the figures that are the lid toppers on some theater cups there are pics of online and eBay. So maybe the same mold and same size as those?

I wouldn't be surprised if they actually did get stocked in stores. It was like that with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 with the bonus disc, where on the site, it said exclusive to target.com. Sure enough, I go to Target on the day it's released, and I can actually pick it up there.

If they're really making the TMNT Blu-ray with the bonus disc site exclusive though, it's kind of stupid to not let the buyer choose which cover they want. I want to get Target's release for the bonus disc. I'm not sure if I really care about the individual covers, but I think I prefer the Leonardo version.

Im always a sucker for exclusive bonus material although I got screwed pretty good with Target's bonus digital content for Captain America: Winter Soldier. So since this is an actual bonus DISC, Ill prob Target my business. Did the box art change? If you search for the movie at Walmart the thumbnail image is different than what is shown when you go the page. I'm specifically talking about the Blu-ray DVD combo. This is what it looks like in the thumbnail....

http://www.amazon.com/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-Megan/dp/B00MI25Z8A/ref=pd_cp_mov_3

This link is for the DVD version as well, so maybe this is what the DVD version will look like or maybe the boxart changed this and the combo? Also note that in the Walmart thumbnail image the box art has the Blu-ray DVD combo label across the top. The movie facebook page also has a promo image for pre-ordering which shows this new image of the boxart.

And other than the hints about Target's bonus disc, I guess we still don't really have any idea what goodies the main disc itself is [hopefully] including? And more-so if the main goodies will be the same from all retailers. Call me slow, but with so little info I'm still trying to figure out who to buy it from...

Wonder how soon we'll see a commercial.

Well I just noticed on Amazon.com that the Raphael Gift Set went down to $69.99 so I threw my hat into the ring and pre-ordered it. I can give the 3-D Blu-ray as a gift for Christmas since I'm also going to get the Target version with Raph on the slipcover. That way I can have my Raph Blu-ray with extra Blu-ray disc and the exclusive Raph statue! Sweet deal.

Not to single you out, but I'm kind of curious, because there seems to be a lot of this happening.

You say this:

Irks me that a few of them, including Bay, then turned around and had to throw an attitude.

Film people: Yeah, I get it, no matter if the choices were good or bad you were working hard on it and got defensive. But wtf... No one owes you anything for making it. You're talking about people who care a lot about these characters and the franchise. That's like painting your elderly neighbor's house pink at your own choosing then bitching at her family for not liking it when they complain about the paint job. Can't screw with something important to people without repercussions. At least take it like a damn professional.

Then this:

I've got "hater" roots, simply made more diplomatic by choice.

But then this? :

And other than the hints about Target's bonus disc, I guess we still don't really have any idea what goodies the main disc itself is [hopefully] including? What the hell? There are pages of us Slamming the hell out of the film, specifically saying that "they didn't care because Fans will buy littereally anything we throw at them"

and then we ...we....we prove them right?

SERIOUSLY! I don't get you people at all.

This is why it sucks. This is exactly why playmates doesn't care how crappy their toys are. This is Why Bay is building a second mansion with his own movie theater. WHY should they care? You're voting for the crap by buying the crap. You are making all complaints void!

Somebody explain this behavior to me please!

I get that some of you liked the movie, that I get. But If you thought is sucked do absolutely anything else with your cash, like ANYTHING AT ALL!

It's Christmas for you, not Platinum Dunes. They get nothing for being naughty.

Find a charity, a Toys for kids program, a foundation, please, find someone who needs that 20$, and do something good.

Somebody explain this behavior to me please!

Can't speak for others, but I can explain my situation. I was dead set on only watching movie until it went to the discount theater (you know, the ones that you pay a $1.50 or so for a ticket, but when they get the film, it's already taken off from major theaters). In as few words as possible, I didn't like the movie (it had a couple good parts, so it was worth my $1.50). I was going to wait a year or two for the DVD to go to the $10-5 bin before putting it in my collection, buuuut... That Barnes and Noble exclusive poster is very tempting. The other exclusives don't interest me at all.

Why am I buying a movie I didn't like? Collection reasons and that cool Eastman poster. Just look at it! ::starry-eyed:: I don't mind paying $15 for it and the movie.

Yeah, I know, it sounds screwy. What happens when someone (or at least I) make an effort to find some things to like alongside the dislikes. (That largely being the Turtles themselves, despite it taking a long time to warm up at all to them.)

My seeing the movie or not came down to whether or not I'd get a free ticket. I did. In one try on a 20oz bottle, the only try I was even going to give it.

As for the DVD I am leaving that to a gift idea. If someone gets it for me or not that is up to them. Just like seeing it in the theater, it's purposely not my personal money that's being handed over. And if someone does get it for me, it probably will not be a pricy exclusive or anything like that, I have no pre-orders set, not that impressed with any, and who'd maybe buy it for me prob won't pre-order.

And even if it wasn't a gift, my mom - who saw it with me - was considering buying it anyhow... may as well be the resident Turtles fan who owns it.

Yeah, I'd kinda like to have it for the things I do like and maybe cut stuff we didn't get to see, while gladly voicing what I think should have been different in hopes that someone out there will have some kind of sense to take what fans are saying into consideration for the next. Yeah, I know someone will say they won't and chances are they're right, but a strong enough crowed can get things done, that's already been seen a little. Willing to give the next one a look, but if they don't learn from the first experience, well...

I wish we could just put these Turtles and their actors into someone else's hands.

Fair enough.
Wasn't trying to single you out specifically, it was just the easiest set of quotes to grab. Thanks for being cool.

I agree with being passive, I guess I just keep imagining the director and producer in that interview, smug as all hell, laughing about how important it was to see Donnie's face as he flipped the truck, or the Super Duper Shredder...or how important it was to have everything connected which is exactly the opposite of how it should have been. Made me want to vomit.

I really want them to know this wasn't an A+. it was more like a D-.

Yeah.... I'm speaking with my wallet and not buying this crap. Nothing personal against PD or Bay or whatever, I just didn't like the movie. The only things I got from the movie were the weapons and the 3DS game cause really... it played out like an all-original TMNT game just using the movie designs. But the movie itself.... no. Just no.

I'll get it because I'm an asshole.

Just a stupid asshole who has to have "everything". :ohwell:

Basically, I have the Next Mutation DVDs so I might as well have this pile as well. But I'm in no rush and I'm not happy about it. It's like a sense of doomed obligation more than excitement ("Well, it's TMNT, so, I haaaave toooo..."). If I drag my feet I might even be able to get the "special" one Used at my local FYE for a couple of bucks. I predict seeing a lot of these trickle back into stores in the Used bins starting sometime around February. So, anyone who "Has" to own it but feels guilty about it, just know You Have Options.

The only Bonus Content they should include would be one of those "You Have Our Deepest Sympathies..." cards. That would be most appropriate.

The wife needs to see it yet. She needs closure. But like I said, like with the G.I. Joe movies, FYE Used Bins exist for a reason. Y'know I found Spider-Man 3 there for like 4 dollars? I mean, I overpaid, but still, I got to fill out my Spidey collection without too much guilt.

The Guilt was reserved for actually seeing Spidey 3 twice in theaters. Stupid, stupid kid. We all make bad decisions.

Just tell her to watch all the trailers together, then imagine another 55 minutes of boring. Afterwards you can use the 20$ you saved to dry your tears.

Sweet deal.

wish i had the money for pre-order :(

I predict seeing a lot of these trickle back into stores in the Used bins starting sometime around February. So, anyone who "Has" to own it but feels guilty about it, just know You Have Options.

Gaze upon the horrors of our Shame Drawer!

Eventually, at best, this movie will join the rest above - something bought for $1, saved to have a few drinks and laugh at on some night we're feeling especially goofy.

Because you're right - it'll hit the cheap bins and pawn shops very quickly. It's pointless to pay full price. Just be a little bit patient and you'll get it used and/or cheap - the only way it's worthwhile.

I'm pretty guilty of this, as I have been with all other TMNT incarnations I've been critical of. My reasons for paying to see it at the cinema more than once and for buying the DVD may not be the same as Indigo's or anyone else, but I can fill you in on my reasons:

I can honestly tell you that there is something in each TMNT incarnation that I love, even if there is also something that I hate. For example, in the PD film I loved certain moments of interaction between the turtles, I loved the sequence where the turtles are running over the rooftop and the early vigilante scenes. Equally, I've been fairly critical of other elements (which i don't see any need to repeat here).

But I've always been very open about the fact that I believe that every incarnation has something slightly different to offer. They each form part of a rich TMNT universe. Even the Next Mutation (overall I thought it was pretty silly, but I loved that Splinter played chess with a blind man in Central Park). Whilst the PD film will never be everything I wanted it to be, I do take enjoyment out of parts of it.

It's also human nature to shout louder about the things we object to than the things we love. I've been quite vocal on these forums about things I didn't like about the PD film, but in truth there was also a lot that I did appreciate in it. Some may think this hypocritical, but to me it is balance.

So I will buy the DVD and I will enjoy watching it, as I enjoyed a few trips to the cinema. It's not that I consciously want to reward PD for mediocre film-making, it's that the film forms a small part of a large picture and as a fan of the franchise I intend to include it in my collection and revisit the elements that I loved from time to time.

I probably won't buy it. I don't like the film so I don't see the point. I own the rest of the films, but this doesn't appeal at all.

My little cousin really enjoyed the film so perhaps I will buy it for his Xmas. But other than that I don't see the point. Cam't imagine I will watch it again any time soon, so no point buying it at £15 - £20 or whatever.

We're on a mission to get as many terrible comic/video game/etc. movies as possible for as cheap as possible, then have some MTS3K-style date nights where we have a bottle of the bubbly stuff and laugh at them mercilessly. I think I married well. :twink:

The Super Mario Bros movie remains... elusive.

The Daredevil Director Cut is actually excellent.

Y'know, I've heard it improved the movie by a lot, but I haven't actually seen it yet. But there's always potential for a movie to graduate out of the Shame Drawer onto the regular movie shelf!

Some of those are really good though, or at least not AWFUL. Supergirl and Hulk are both... questionable but decent, or at least they have much MUCH more going for them than those other ones. I also enjoy Punisher; I mean, yeah, Travolta. But on the whole it ain't bad. The Russian steals the whole shebang, of course. :tgrin: No lie, there was a HUGE pop in the theater when he busted in. I heard some dude all the way in the back row like, "Aw, SH*T, that's Kevin Nash, son!" Everybody actually started rooting for him until they remembered whose movie they were watching. That was classic. I'll always love that movie for that memory alone.

And yeah, Daredevil Director's Cut is SO much better. Just check it out, you won't regret it. The playground fight is still there, BUT they fixed a lot else. The extended plot makes the WHOLE movie fit together better. Plus, Coolio! :tgrin: The scene where he testifies in court is Golden. "So, then you went home and passed out from drinking...?" "Smokin' weed, mostly." I can't remember the exact quote, it's been a few, but it's a great scene. It's actually one of the best Director's Cuts I've seen, because it's not just a few extra scenes put back in to make it longer, it actually fixes the entire movie and raises it up a grade. Don't dawdle, go peep that sh*t. :tgrin:

Legend of Chun-Li is the biggest piece of sh*t I think I've ever seen. There's nothing enjoyable about it, even ironically. It's just a piece of f*cking garbage from the inside out and I really can't understand how movies that bad get made. Like, of all the people who could have gotten the rights to Street Fighter, you get someone who decides to make it completely unrecognizable on every level. I can't remember the last time I got so ANGRY watching a movie. And I'm not even a huge SF fan, I like it but my wife's the fanatic. I was just like, "Oh, GOD, every single thing about this is AWFUL" and I really wanted to kill someone. I hate it SO bad.

I can't imagine Super Mario Bros. being hard to find, every FYE around here has a bunch of them for like $4 used. Then again, this is NJ, not The Land Of Beavers and Maple Syrup, so I'unno how things work up there. :P Maybe it's a customs thing and they simply can't bring copies of SMB into the country at all because they're afraid it will spark homicidal rage and turn people into terrorists. They'd have a point.

Oh, totally! Even some things I might call "bad" have redeeming qualities, or some great cheese/camp value. There's no way I won't love watching a couple of Lou Ferrigno Hulk movies. :tlol:

My wife got super excited finding a cheap copy of Howard the Duck, and I guarantee we're gonna enjoy the hell out of that stinker.

I also enjoy Punisher; I mean, yeah, Travolta. But on the whole it ain't bad. Nash as The Russian was perfection, and that fight scene was easily the highlight of the whole movie. And I really like Tom Jane as Frank Castle. Wish he had a better overall movie to do it in, but he probably made it a lot better than it would have been otherwise.

And yeah, Daredevil Director's Cut is SO much better. Just check it out, you won't regret it. The playground fight is still there, BUT they fixed a lot else. All right, that's officially at the top of the list! :tgrin: I've heard that the Coolio stuff actually made the overall plot make sense in a way it... really didn't in the theatrical cut, so that's a plus. And Coolio himself's definitely a big plus too. Also, I always liked Michael Clarke Duncan as the Kingpin, and especially since he died a few years back I think it'll be nice to revisit that.

Legend of Chun-Li is the biggest piece of sh*t I think I've ever seen. There's nothing enjoyable about it, even ironically. I was just like, "Oh, GOD, every single thing about this is AWFUL" and I really wanted to kill someone. I hate it SO bad.

Yeah, none of this surprises me. My wife and I are both really into fighting games and definitely Street Fighter in particular (though she was always more of a Mortal Kombat fan), but... we'll see on this one. It might be the real endurance test of the bunch. Definitely won't hold up to this piece of magic:

GlhOUyy4wbs

I can't imagine Super Mario Bros. being hard to find, every FYE around here has a bunch of them for like $4 used. Hahahaha! That's a solid theory.

I'm surprised, really. I've looked at every pawn shop and every discount bin in town and I've never seen a copy. We actually got the point where we debated ordering it online, but that feels like cheating. And there are... other options... but not having a physical copy breaks the rule.

It's going to be on sale at Vudu for $9.96 for Black Friday. I'm not sure if the BF price will start Thursday or Friday, but probably Thursday evening.

There's also a promo in which you can text the word "FUNNY" to 698838 and get a $5 Vudu credit code, essentially making the movie $4.96. Or if you bought another Vudu credit code off of someone online, you could get the movie for about $2.50.

Incidentally, Guardians of the Galaxy and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will both also be on sale for $9.96.

There's nothing officially confirming that it's the HDX version that will be $9.96, but it's all but a foregone conclusion. GotG HDX was mistakenly put on its $9.96 price for a while yesterday before going back to it's regular price. I'm sure it'll be $9.96 for the HDX of all three of the BF films.

11-26-2014, 05:20 PM
Yeah same. I'm hoping it's not all stuff that's already on Youtube. The new 'Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes' blu-ray has heaps of never before seen featurettes so I'm hoping TMNT is the same. The specs have been titled, but they're just titles at this point. I wanna see:

- Audition footage of the Turtle actors.
- Raw footage of Pete Ploszek in character to hear what his Leo sounded like.
- Johnny Knoxville in the recording booth (he said Liebesman let him push & shove him around in order to get authentic grunts. There's no way they didn't video that)
- Featurette spanning the more recent history of TMNT (which 'Turtle Power' didn't cover).

Little bummed that two of the special features are Making Of Shell Shocked & the Music Video. That song is bad no matter how you look at it.

I'm probably gunna sound like a bit of a pleb asking this but, what is a steelbook?
Is it just a fancy case for your standard blu-ray disc?

Essentially an overrated, overpriced version of a normal blu ray with a special cover on a "steel" case ...

However, they suck. Very cheap. All my "steelbooks" have cracked, or scratched with minimal contact. The cover is basically a paint coating that scratches too easily.

The only steel book that actually didn't get the image scratched off, but had the image imprinted into the actual case was the DVD steelbook for The Dark Knight.

FlogginMcMurryZombiePizza
12-09-2014, 01:19 AM
Normally I love steelbooks. I feel like most of my BluRay are steelbook (not really though). I haven't had the same problem with the artwork scratching off or anything. I did buy Watchmen in steelbook and immediately returned it because there was a giant dent in the back, which I couldn't see before hand 'cus it was hidden behind that card with the bio and features info and I managed a replacement. Man Of Steel, however, I didn't notice I bought one that was smashed on the spine until it was sitting on my shelf. WalMart sold out so that's my copy then.

Anyway... the TMNT steelbook looks stupid.
This wasn't going to be a day 1 purchase. Or even a day 30 purchase. I enjoyed it enough and it had it's moments, but I haven't even rushed for for Amazing Spider-Man 2 or Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
The only reason I would rush out for a copy is the get a Donatello character BluRay from Target. 2 reasons: 1 Donnie is my fav regardless (Normally Raph is my other big fav but not so much in the film) and 2 Target has a bonus disc or bonus feature. And I love me some bonus features. Gimmy that tech documentary!

That being said... I MIGHT need help from someone willing to go out and get a copy for me... there's a REALLY good chance I wont be able to get to a Target to get a copy (I'll either be at work or I'll be off but I have no reliable way to get to either store... both are 60+ min away from me).

tmntpower2k14

Dawn of the Apes was BY far the best movie of the summer. Utterly amazing. Followed by Edge of Tomorrow. Both take a steaming dump on CA WS, and Guardians of the Galaxy.

What is CA WS?

I got Edge of Tomorrow in Target steelbook :tgrin: It sits next to my seelbook for Elysium.

I thought Guardians was great and it was my birthday double feature with TMNT... so maybe it just seemed so much better in comparison to TMNT lol
(not really... it was the first movie I saw and I was legitimately in tears from laughter).

But, seriously TMNTPower2k14, anytime I want to know all the different variant releases a movie may get, I hit up BluRay.com . I'll look up the movie and generally in the film's Overview review it'll list "Other Versions" of the same movie. That's how I knew months ago what films are getting steelbook or what store has artwork better than others, etc. Some movies have exclusive bonus features depending on the store (Target had Godzilla with extra stuff, I think Best Buy had Edge of Tomorrow with extra features and Pacific Rim, I believe, had 1 extra footage exclusive to each major chain).
In this occasion, the 'Drome has you covered, but most other films dont have a fanbase like this so... it's handy at those times.

(Here's Pacific Rim as an example http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Pacific-Rim-Blu-ray/72628/ )
(and here's TMNT as an example plus the site's review of the BluRay for anyone with HD home theaters
http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-3D-Blu-ray/100310/ ... to keep it on topic)

Meh it wasn't that funny, a lot of forced humor ... and IMO insanely overrated as a movie. That and Chris Pratt is just generally annoying to me. Shame he's in the new Jurassic Park.

Awe I actually liked Winter Soldier a lot... WAY more than most of the other Marvel movies. I didn't pay attention to the reviews, I felt they (Winter Solider reviews) were lower than the other films.

Yea there seems to be a lot of possible "shames" on Jurassic World... and Terminator Genesis.

The Target edition of Godzilla had an extra 30min feature called "Godzilla: Rebirth of an Icon" along with a Target Ticket for Ultraviolet.

Yes it's fine if you do enjoy it, don't mind me. It's just not my taste. There are many issues for me for that film, especially the cringey and unfunny parts, but I'll focus on the climax: That final boss fight using a dance off and finally they all hold hands at the end to defeat the villain. I mean... really? *facepalm*What is this, carrebears? my little pony friendship is magic?

Despite it all, I kinda adore Rocket and Groot. I wouldn't mind if the movie only stars them as the leads. Them against the universe.

Admittedly, I found the ending a bit iffy, as well. Definitely one of its weaker aspects. And another thing that bugged me towards the end of the film... It's reported that the city has been completely evacuated, but right after Ronan's defeated, everyone's....suddenly back in the city again? That had me scratching my head, and bothered me more than it should have.

Still a good movie, though. The prison scenes were the strongest, from my perspective.

I'll save you the trouble... Best Buy is sold out on GOTG steelbook. Seriously. Websites are closed and it seems there was a small printing. One of my stores sold out in 15min from opening (I called) and the other had 7 before the doors opened, but they wouldn't hold me a copy. You'll have to work over more than double the price on eBay

It was pretty weird, but it fit Quinn's personality and the tone of the movie as a whole. That ending had me laughing like crazy, even if it was completely ludicrous. I'm just glad a movie with a talking raccoon and tree didn't try to take itself too seriously.

The Video and Audio have a 5.0 rating, But a 2.0 on the Extras, Its very typical of these Blu-Ray reviews, Most people buy them for the amount of Extras they package, Its unfortunate that its kind of the same type of extras that are found on the digital release, With the exception of the alternate ending.

But either way, I'm getting my copy on Tuesday via Amazon. :)

After seeing the news of this, I'll likely wait until I see these in the $5 bin unfortunately given how limited content is provided. We've already discussed this film in death and sadly this is a "save for a rainy day" type of package. Unlike a comic series or TV episode where a recurring, recycled plot can be gone away with for a little with, a movie needs to show a much richer form of artistry, and unfortunately if it weren't for the hype and momentum along with the novelty of being the first live action Turtle movie in over 20 years, this film would have been unprofitable.

I have yet to see Winter Soldier, but GotG was not trash. To each his own, though.

Exactly. At least Guardians of the Galaxy STARRED the Guardians of the Galaxy...not an outside force (aka not the title characters aka Megan Fox) who nailed the final hit on the bad guy ('hey, but they had Splinter do it in Turtles 1'...what can I say...Splinter is better than Megan Fox) do it and was the main focus for at Least the first 20 minutes of a 90-some minute movie, and even after that the Turtles weren't actual characters. They had their names and that's it.

While Guardians from the get-go was ABOUT one of the Guardians of the Galaxy...and actually had scenes that MADE SENSE to lead up to other scenes (the beginning has Chris Pratt's character, as a child, dealing with his mom dying...at the end? Adult Chris Pratt seeing his mom in bed again, but this time grabbing her hand which actually Worked within both the story & emotions)....not a 'Hey I'm Raph and I'm getting Sentimental in this Out of the Blue Speech that had Zero lead up since I wasn't even mean/rude/crude to any of my brothers let alone had even a pinky Fingernail of development to justify this speech At All at the end of the movie'.

And at least in Guardians the characters had some actual/tiny depth to them (Rocket talking about that he didn't ask to be this way when they tore him up and put him back together again...Drax with his whole 'wife & kids' being killed)...while all the makers of the new Turtles film could muster up was "Hey I'm Mikey, and I have a Boner...and I farted in my bros' faces. So what up?'

Guardians didn't have to resort to Fart Jokes & and Boners for 'humor' like Turtles did. So yeah, I'm a Turtles fan but Guardians was an Actual Good Film. Guardians is what the Turtles film SHOULD have been (a fun sense of humor that was based on characters and not either creep/stalker material, farts, boners...characters that had at least bits of depth/emotion to them that while wasn't original was at least appreciated, and again actually Starred the title characters in their own film.

ya the blu ray has all the features. I hate that we dvd owners get screwed in the pooch for no reason. I am just glad to have the movie.

these are the special features for the blu ray

Digital Reality (1080p, 17:56): A look at turtle character evolution for the film, the importance of previsualization, the blend of performance capture and digital characters, technical details behind the performance capture, fight choreography, digital realism, and more.
In Your Face! The Turtles in 3D (1080p, 1080p, 4:23): A closer look at the technical aspects of the 3D shoot. Note the piece is available in both 2D and 3D, the latter, of course, available only on compatible players and televisions.
It Ain't Easy Being Green (1080p, 6:47): The cast remembers fond memories of the franchise and discusses playing the roles, shooting in New York, set details, and cast camaraderie.
Evolutionary Mash-Up (1080p, 14:59): A real-life scientific history and biology of turtles. The piece also looks at ninjas and the integration of the turtle and the ninja. Fans will particularly enjoy a segment that studies the turtles' signature weapons.
Turtle Rock (1080p, 5:37): Composer Brian Tyler takes viewers into the recording session and discusses how his score fits into the film.
Extended Ending (1080p, 0:46).
Music Video (1080p, 3:27): "Shell Shocked" by Juicy J, Moxie, Ty dolla $ign, and Wiz Khalifa.
Making of "Shell Shocked" (1080p, 1:31): This piece features Wiz Khalifa in the recording studio, discussing his collaboration on the film, intercut with clips from the film.

A Blu Ray player is only $60. Why not just buy one? It has (way) better picture and sound (especially sound!) and can still play those DVDs, plus you now get streaming apps on most of them. There's really no good reason not to upgrade, not even penny-pinching.

I have to agree with sgtfbomb here.
Even if you absolutely refuse to purchase a bluray player, bluray discs have a much larger storage capacity. So, even if you wanted all those special features with your DVD purchase, they would have to have them downgraded onto additional discs which in turn would only increase the price of the DVD.

In the long run, you're simply better off shelling (pun intended) out 50-60 bucks for one. Boxing Day sales are soon upon us. ;)

even with all the storage space, You sometimes get a barebones Blu-Ray, Depending on the movie, a Studio would release a barebones version, then a few months later, Release a special edition with all the goodies.

True... but I don't purchase the barebones blurays. They're simply not worth it unless the price is right or it's the best we're gonna' see. I'm not against DVD mind you, I just feel that when a film has special effects, it's best to have on bluray.

The time span was generally a year or two between "dips." I can think of only one movie that was released with no features and then two or three months later, re-issued with special features, and that was Transformers: Dark of the Moon and the initial release included a a discounted voucher for the upgraded release. You could argue Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies, but even then, Theatrical Cuts included their own unique set of features.

Double Dipping is a little different now. Now it's the same disc with the same features re-packaged with a new, more modern cover. Occasionally, you get a new featurette or a new Q&A. The exception to the rule is Shout/Scream Factory in the US and Arrow in the UK, who take movies that are mostly disregarded by their distributor, license them, and produce hefty special features. I would love for Shout Factory to get their hands on TMNT '90.

 :trolleye:

We're not all made of money right now. But if you'd like to buy me one that would be awesome. I'd love to be in the position where $60 is "only $60," but right now that has to go to other more important things when I have it. Blu-ray is also IMO not that fascinating of a supposed "upgrade" to be bothered with. If it was an entirely different thing then I might consider it more. But until then. MEH.

I could understand if it was something else both DVD and Blu-ray were being pushed aside for, but those... whatever. That's prob just marketing because they can pretend it's worth a bigger price when the plastic disc is probably about equally as cheap to mass produce. Quality and whatnot... DVD is acceptable just fine, don't care.

Really would have thought they'd have gone all out with these discs to start with and cut back to bare bones versions at a later date, not right from the get go.

Unfortunately, it's becoming industry standard to keep DVD releases bare bones (or minimum bones). For purchasing purchases, it's really better to just buy the Blu-Ray/DVD combo packs; you might not have a Blu-Ray player today, but you probably will some day, and then you won't have to re-buy your entire library.

That said, I totally understand the resistance to upgrade. I have never had an enjoyable experience watching Blu-Ray - it all just ends up looking fake to me. I have a USB Blu-Ray player that I can use if there's something I can't watch any way else (such as special features), but otherwise I'm very content with DVDs.

Yeah, that's more the direction I was leaning. Hoping to just own the combo pack for now and/or when ever. If nothing else I figure the next computer I own would probably be capable.

With digital and whatnot out there though, Blu-ray's days are no doubt marked as well.

I can understand blu-ray getting more extras because it's format can hold more, but deciding to make DVD completely bare bones when those disks probably do not cost much to manufacture in the first place is kind of stupid, esp when they probably aren't selling for too much cheaper than before.

If they aren't going to drop the price further because it's "old," nor wanted to bother much further with the disc, it would be nice if they at least offered DVD buyers an extra or two via download, or a discount code for it. If they want to guide people toward a different format, that could be encouragement right there.

Digital will prob push out blu-ray within a few years and they'll prob be selling bare bones blu-ray for $25.

How would you want me to show it? I added the scale comparison. my point is the same. 4K is incredible in person compared with HD, but 1080 on HD TV vs 720 p is noticeable, then DVD on HD TV is really bad to watch.

I'm not disagreeing with you that 4K is a huge leap from 1080p, it certainly is. And yes, it's difficult to tell someone how great it is without seeing the real thing in person. For people who are familiar with Apple products I would just tell them it's the "Retina Display" version of regular HDTV, because the resolution scaling is exactly double, just like the jump from iPhone 3GS to iPhone 4, or iPad 2 to iPad 3, or one of the MacBook with Retina Display vs the one without etc.

As a result of the difficulty to explain the difference to regular people, many UHDTV manufacturers begin to chalk up exaggerated marketing materials to deceive people about the improvements of UHD over HD or SD. Your example was probably taken from one of those. I always look at these shady examples and shake my head as I know how ridiculously biased they are. At the end of the day, I still stand by "seeing is believing". The best way to find out if the improvements is big enough for you is to judge it for yourself in front of the real product, not marketing materials.

As for TMNT I just hope most (if not all) of the official media get re-released in 4K/8K eventually, or at least 1080p for older media like the OT. I'd imagine in 50 years or so TV screens would be the size of an entire wall or just floating around as holograms spanning the width of the house. At those sizes 4K/8K would probably become a necessity instead of nice-to-have. Hopefully the companies responsible for TMNT at the time keeps the fans happy by providing TMNT media at those ridiculous resolution, or even better: vector graphics. One can dream right? :trazz:

Really would have thought they'd have gone all out with these discs to start with and cut back to bare bones versions at a later date, not right from the get go.

I'm still using a big-ass TV with S-components. No home theater, no surround sound, no HD but I did get a BluRay player primarily because I'm one who wants his DVD loaded with Bonus Features. I would buy the 2-3 disc special/ultimate/whatever editions on DVD. But now, those dont exist anymore. There are the rare occasions, like Godzilla and Pacific Rim where 2-disc editions were released with most of the sae features from the BluRay. I even bought the WalMart exclusive special edition on The Dark Knight Rises DVD which had all of the bonus features from the BluRay (and a better cover image).
But basically now all DVD are barebone and maybe 1-2 features. So I got BluRay so I can see extended cuts (also becoming exclusive to BR) and special editions loaded with with features.

TMNT has no features on the disc and the BR has a bunch and Target has 30 more minutes. I dont own it so I dont know if it's any good but a technical movie like that interests me in the BR for those features.

But I still enjoy DVD.
Except for the increasingly lazy cover art they are getting. Seriously, there is something becoming more and more bland when the studios decide to give the DVD a different cover. TMNT is an example and, to bring it up again, The Dark Knight Rises. Even if it is becoming antiquited technology, there's no reason or excuse it should get lazy, uninspired pieces of art that makes the movie look boring.
That TMNT DVD cover, they are all just standing there. Full bodies, full frame. It's not quite like the poster where it was tighter on them to see their personalities/attitudes (same image), it's just a stark boring image. Dark Knight Rises has Batman in the middle of a street looking behind him like "Oh uh". This is the least inspired Batman cover, I think. The BR, in comparison, is a low angle/worm eye view looking up at a Batman shrouded in shadow with the bat-symbol exploding in fire behind him.

:ohwell: I rarely buy movies anyhow so I can't say I've taken note of that, but that really is kinda lame. I could understand if the packaging was entirely different dimensions etc, but come on... They're wasting more time by actually designing a different, less impressive cover when they could just take 30 seconds to change the text and hit save. Obvious marketing is obvious.

But that's 2014 I guess, when people are expected to excitedly line up to get the next version of their phone when the last one came out the year before. Treat DVD as if it isn't still really common just to make people shell out more cash for the "different" disc, or encouraged to buy both.

Does that Raph statue have the whites to his eyes or no? Hard to tell.

I noticed two of the Extras on my Blu-ray that's not in the digital release, They are pretty good actually, Evolutionary Mashup talks about the evolution of Turtles and Ninjas, And Turtle Rock is all about scoring the movie.

So good news I went to Walmart today to check out what they have in the area and the TMNT DVDs and bluerays were almost all sold out they had a few of each and empty spots in different locations
o.O Well it's nice to hear the Turtles have so much support, Bay film or otherwise. If someone is getting this for me I hope it will turn out they ordered... they certainly didn't leave the house at all today.

Hidden because it's not a real answer so I'm of no help:

Shredder can probably be assumed to be kind of old, maybe it was his knee.

My picture is never that fuzzy/out of focus.

You are not a very technical person are you? You did miss my point.

DVD's have a resolution of 640x480. HD is 1920x1080. It's like buying a youtube version of the movie.

Theaters project movies at 2k-4k. That's between a little bigger than HD, or 4 times the size of HD, 4096x 2160.

Imax is the largest, with screens projecting at roughly 10 -12k.

If anyone wants to get the statue one at Amazon, The price went back up to 98.99, When I bought it, I got it for 69.99

I noticed last week that the TMNT statue set went down to $39.99 last week.
So lucky me.

I'm so happy that I got my TMNT set from the postman this morning. I had to wait 5 days after release date for my Future Shop online order for Guardians of the Galaxy steelbook.

Anyways, I havent watched the movie yet but finished the features first. It's disappointing that there went not any interviews with Kevin Eastman who was somewhat involved with the movie. No deleted scenes as well but the interviews had a clip showing Megan fox and the Raphael actor on the street intersection of New York which I assume was the Raph in trench coat scene.

As for the statue, I can't say I have any complains. The sculpts nice and the paint jobs very well done. I still think the sun glasses on Raphs head looks stupid. He didn't even wear them in the movie...
I am surprised by how big he is. I thought he would just stand 5" tall but as you can see he should be about 7" tall with the base and is just slightly shorter than a blu ray box.

Yeah :tsmile: I'd say the Sewer Break-In. It's this movies equivalent of the Apartment Brawl from the original. The weapons wall exploding & all hell breaking loose. Splinter getting stuck into a group of Foot Soldiers (punching-in the head of one in particular). Donnie getting alarmed over the tranq darts & Leo not caring less ("Well don't let em' hit your skin"), doing a Tazmanian Devil spin-technique. Splinter briefly holding off Shredder (even with one arm at one point with his pimp hand) before closing the room off cause he knows he's losing. After much struggle, the Turtles finally making it to their father's aid but it's game over (while Brian Tyler's score goes operatic). Splinter left a lifeless heap on the ground/the Turtles eletrocuted & captured/their home bombed. Epic scene. Hope the sequel has more Sh*t Gets Real moments.

Yeah, she's pretty much guaranteed for the sequel though. The thing is I don't even blame her so much as what she had to work with. Her April was flatly written & there wasn't much for her to do but look scared. Such a one-note role. April in the 1990 film was great part for any actress. I can't picture even Emma Stone making this new April fun. Fox isn't inherently likeable, so she didn't stand a chance. Hopefully in the sequel they'll let April be more natural since the initial shock of everything is over (Fox was sexy, down-to-earth & bubbly in Judd Apatow's 'This Is 40', so she is capable).

I also kinda hope they re-cast Shredder.

William Fichtner has been confirmed to return in the sequel right? Maybe he will be re-casted as Shredder? It could make sense for Eric Sacks (read: Oroku Saki) to take up the mantle of his sensei as Shredder and this time, actually have a true grudge against the turtles and April for severely injuring (or killing) his sensei (instead of just: I want the mutagen in your blood). Sort of like the 4Kids series when Karai assumed Shredder's identity after he was gone and sought vengeance against the turtles.

I really don't mind if they go this direction, the irony would be telling for Fichtner to be originally casted as Shredder, re-casted halfway into production, and come one full round to return in the sequel as Shredder again! But seriously it could work.

Nope.

The only actors confirmed so far are Megan Fox and Will Arnett,

I would mind. Why have a stand-in when they at least made a (last minute) effort to give us the real thing?

If they want to go the rout the 4kids series did with Karai taking up the mantle then don't we actually have Karai herself in the movie for that? If they gave that role to Fictner it would just be the same situation as the first movie where they give a new character a role than an established and popular should have. It would be like they'd learned nothing from the mistakes of the first. We could also kiss goodbye to any hope we could get some back story to Saki or Yoshi.

Also to be blunt I still can't picture Fichtner as a ninja master and it's not like he's a huge name or an actor so talented he must be there. I know he has a multi-picture deal but they can transfer him to another Paramount movie.

Same goes for Will Arnett. For a comedy actor he didn't do anything humorous and he was rather bland as a more serious ally. I know it may be harsh on the actors in question but then again I suspect those two may be happy to go another movie series better suited to their talents (and one that doesn't seem so much like a shinking ship).

I ended up getting the Wal-Mart box set with the BR, the figures, and the masks. Nice little package for the money, probably the best deal out of everything out there. It only has two masks (reversible) but that's okay, because they look cool, and it was a nice bonus. I mostly got it for the figures anyway. My only minor complaint was a lack of deleted scenes except for the extended ending, and that the Donnie figure is WAY taller than the others. They all have legs bent except him, though, so I'm wondering if that's why. But he's almost two heads taller than Mikey, and a full head taller than the other two. But they look pretty good.

Anyone finding that on any set? Was it only on the early digital download? (It was within that one, right?)

It would be cool if these companies would start offering additional extras as downloads for cheap if they're not going to bother otherwise, or just put them online themselves. (Then let the discs be a bit cheaper.)

So tell me... for the sets that do have a few or more extras, does Megan Fox dominate them like she does the movie? :P

The Target bonus disc has three features which aren't on the standard disc that run for a total of about 31 minutes. What's odd is that all the standard bonus features are duplicated on that disc as well.

When Target had an exclusive for Star Trek Into Darkness they moved all the bonus features (standard and exclusive) onto their exclusive bonus disc and put the movie on a disc by itself. The standard STID release had movie and bonus features on one disc.

It seems Paramount didn't want to make two different movie discs, so every release has the same 2d disc, but Target's bonus disc has every single bonus feature (standard and exclusive).

If you redeem the iTunes digital copy, the elevator scene is in the iTunes extras.

I was looking forward to seeing the extended footage more than any other feature and was severely disappointed. It's only about 5 seconds longer, if that. The scene plays as the movie does then briefly cuts outside the elevator before cutting back in to show the turtles going crazy. I thought it'd be more footage added to the end of that long take, but that's not what it is.

Shady as f*ck only Blu-Ray gets any special features anymore, but at least prices have gotten to a point where it's actually not a huge deal to go for the "high-end" package. I resent having to shell out an extra $5 just to get the "full" package that could just as easily be put on a DVD, but at least it's usually JUST $5 or so.

The whole "forced to upgrade" thing is shady as hell though, and if I didn't already have a PS3, I'd be way more annoyed than I am, because I don't just have money lying around to buy a new player and I know a ton of other people who don't either.

You watch... these companies will start moving extras permanently to their own disc and you'll have the choice of either the bare bones blu-ray OR pay more for there being more plastic involved, I mean extras.

That must be a good job at any company, brainstorming how to squeeze more money out of consumers.

To give Paramount the benefit of the doubt, I think it's telling that the only deleted scene is with Megan Fox and they choose a bad take at that. Seriously compare her broadcast at the beginning of the film with the extended ending and her performance is night and day. I actually found her believable as a fluff reporter at the beginning.

I'm not surprised we didn't get further deleted scenes because they probably didn't want to include any scenes that were deleted because they changed Shredder's identity and they also probably didn't want to include scenes with actors in motion capture suits or reveal Pete Ploszek's Leonardo voice.

Including deleted scenes would also cost money if they were dropped before they were fully edited. I'm honestly surprised we get as many glimpses of cut content as we do in the bonus features as it is.

The bonus features show lots of on set footage of the motion capture turtles, quite a bit of which didn't end up in the film, but it's so quickly cut together that you get a second or two glimpse and then it cuts to something else.

There's also a 15 minute bonus feature called "Evolutionary Mashup" that looks at the real history of turtles, ninjas, and the weapons the four turtles carry.

This exactly. For his sake I was glad to see that bit was not included and it does make me cringe a bit - the boy ain't gonna live that down for a while lol - but I had vague hopes of an uncut version having a little more to it than that. Considering, as you mention, the panel. Had put together screen shots of it button by button once from the trailers, was hoping the missing sections were worth seeing. *sigh* Ah well.

lol Hell, I think it speaks volumes and I find it amusing that the scene that supposedly just let the actors goof off is a fave clip to many rather than stuff film makers tried so hard on to mess up.

"Put all that work into some scenes, but nooo.. they like the one where actors just act weird." BAHAHA

Maybe however it will influence them to add more good moments like it though next time. I wish.

Sounds disappointing. Even the recent 'Age Of Extinction' blu-ray had a 2-hour Making Of and another hour of sh*t. The recent 'Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes' blu-ray showed raw footage of every major motion-capture scene in the film so you could see exactly how the actor played it. On the 'Men In Black II' blu-ray, you see Knoxville covering his face from the camera guys while recording dialogue cause he was getting embarrassed ("I have to close my eyes so I don't see these bastards") so I'm not suprised he didn't let them video him lol I really wanted to see raw footage of Ploszek's Leo voice to put to rest once & for all whether his vocal-replacement was truly necessary. Anyone who's heard Woodburn's Splinter voice knows that was indeed necessary.

Yeah, I've been wishing something of that would be there or get leaked. Either

- Ploszek's light voice clashed with the big & staunch aesthetic of this Leo.

- Knoxville has a naturally cartoonish voice. Maybe Ploszek sounded too much like a regular guy.

- Ploszek might've sounded too much like Ritchson (their speaking voices are really similar. But wouldn't that just make them sound more like brothers???).

- Knoxville can sound like a hardass when he wants to. Maybe Ploszek sounded too sissy during the action moments.

For all we know, they did try re-record with him & came to the agreement it just wasn't working. Either way, Ploszek's taken it like a champ. Only ONE interviewer has asked him how he felt & he replied “I like to think with the two of us, we built the best Leo we could.” What a legend. I really hope they let him do the voice for the sequel (assuming he does come back), continuity be damned.

I'm 100% convinced that adding Knoxville was just the studio being nervous the movie didn't have enough "Star Power", and they figured, "Hey, while we're screwing with things last minute..."

There's really no other reason that makes any sense.

Yeah but they didn't use him for any of the publicity whatsoever. He didn't get an end title card & isn't even on the blu-ray. If it was for star power, they'd take advantage & not hide all but his voice. Only way you'd know for certain it was him was if you stayed for the credits or saw the IMDb cast list.

Interesting point, but it wasn't exactly a secret either. I mean, it was all over the internet. I'unno. I just can't think of any reason why they'd do it, and with that guy in particular. Maybe Knoxville begged to be a part of the movie and he had pictures of Liebsman with a goat or something, I'unno.

Petes voice was on the extras. Cant remember wich one exactly but it was the scene where they were talking about being bulletproof. His voice was ok. Honestly no need to change it, knoxville didnt do any better, but didnt do any worse either. I think they were only trying to get more big names on board at the last minute......:ohwell:

Your posts always crack me up dude  A lot of celeb's get cast based on the animators playing random voices of actors over their clips. Guess they thought Knoxville was an interesting fit.

I hope that bit turns up online if I don't own that extra on anything.

If that would be the case, then damn them, because in terms of voice Leo has kind of always seemed to be just that average male voice. Rather non-spacific, just average, but imo I'm fine with that, it's Leo. It adds more charm to it if the 'fearless leader' doesn't sound like the toughest one.

Yeah, would totally make sense. And, to add to what I'd said above, I honestly have felt that Knoxville's tone actually competes a little too much with Raph's. A deeper, gruffer tone suits Raph as the biggest, toughest one. I find it rather unnecessary to make Leo's tone have to compete with that so they can, I assume, make him sound like a commanding officer.

I would very gladly trade "commanding officer" for a voice that has a lot more variation in tone between scenes and draws out more heart from Leo.

To put it simply, (imo) Knoxville's variation in tone was about as limited as Megan Fox's amount of facial expressions.

I agree on Ploszek, he's been really professional about it.

Haha yeah. His last two scenes had a touch of warmth to them. Problem is, Leo in this film is just a one-note action hero. The guy who yells the commands. Knoxville could probably make a unique Leo if given more to do but he only had one card to play here. Unless he's already contracted to the sequels, I have a feeling the new director will let Ploszek do the full role (it'd be just cruel at this point to screw him over a second time lol). Let's just hope Leo is more of a character in the next.

Nice Tigerclaw what was your take on the movie? To me I feel the same way I did when I saw it in the theater. Just a fun movie directed towards the younger generation.
