Hey you
maybe the best thing would be for young actors to be the voices for the 2nd part.

I think it would be good if we had a MMA fighters doing the voices and the stunt part, so that it is all one person, because then it will be more like real life.
There should be more grappleing fighting like true martial arts. test of a MAN!

They are some okay people, but why not put in some serious fighting experst?
I think like Jonathan Koppenhaver (he is called War machine on the MMA) could be the pig Bebop, and the Demetrious Johnson would be better for rocksteady.

it could be crazy fights and trueguys voice just like the comics!

I'd like for that to happen as well, but as you mentioned Gordon and Clarke might not be up to voicing B & R.
Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.

Some people here in this thread mentioned Ice Cube might voice Bebop. I'm down with that should it happen.

I wouldn't say it is at all. Before the 2012 series actors were announced, Kevin Michael Richardson was tagged on there as playing Hun. Before the 2014 film's actors were announced, they had all of the Turtles from the 2012 as reprising their roles. That one was on there for MONTHS.

And outside of Turtles, I've seen things like David Boreanaz playing Angel in X-Men 3, plus saying that Heihachi Mishima and Leon Kennedy were in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Mega Man as being in Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

I'm more curious about their appearances. I know it's far away but will they look somewhat close to their 1987 cartoon appearances or a new look entirely?

So maybe someone is going to call heresy on this one, but I think they will most likely start out as animals in this version. You know, to keep consistency with the mutant animals from the first movie, it would probably open a can of worms for the general audience if the mutagen started to turn humans into animals.

Something people will definitely call heresy.I kind of hope that instead of humanoids, they're disgusting monstrosities, like giant quadrupeds with odd anatomies. Yeah I like the IDW version of them and this monster approach would be a bastardisation, but c'mon, they're not very engaging characters to begin with.

As for who should voice them? Frank Welker.

Eh c'mon, a Twilight Princess style Ganon version of Bebop would kinda cool in comparison to lifting the "Duh, let's watch TV and eat candies before the boss catches us Rocksteady" potrayal from the cartoon.

Honestly I found the old Bebop and Rocksteady to just be annoying, with a little experimenting they could actually be a bit cool.

Interesting choices. Loooooove the idea of Garrett but Warburton seems sort of an odd pick, unless he kept it real gravelly & voiced him in a lower register. Of course whether or not they work depends on the designs, but BG would be awesome no matter what, prolly!

They should introduce mixing humans with the animals in the sequel. It would take years for the animals to fully grow. If they start mixing people and animals they can be fully grown mutants right away.

I loved Rampage Jackson's version of B.A. Baracus, and I like the idea of having MMA fighters who can act cast as these characters. I don't think they can do the same mo cap w/ Rocksteady, but whoever is Bebop should be able to have mo cap. So I would pick Rampage as BeBop, and for the mocap Brock Lesnar as Rocksteady, and Domenick Lombardozzi as the voice.

I don't think they need to sound like the cartoon's version of them either, so It's more about believability in them being badasses. And I hope they aren't funny and dumb, I hope they are very serious threats to the city and the turtles.

Warburton's voice is already pretty low, but I agree about him needing to keep it gravelly. I think he could pull off a few more registers though.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac252/benman011/BebopampRocksteady.jpg

Jemaine Clement has a deep voice & is incredibly talented vocally (Flight Of The Conchords, Men In Black 3, Rio) and Danny McBride would fit Rocksteady like a glove. I'm one of the few who thought Knoxville's voice was the only thing that lent Leo any real presence in the new movie, so I'd love to see some similar casting with suprising results.

It's about as serious as anything else you read on the internet about movies, tons of legitimate sources post things incorrectly all the time.

Until the movie is on screen they can change anything, even then they could change things and not have them on the final dvd.

Also, they were street thugs, I don't think they would have much martial arts training aside from street fighting, and minimal shooting skills.

Accidently typed the wrong name, relax "bub" (why do online dorks use that term so often? that's a whole other argument). Shalhoub played Splinter. Tom Hardy made Bane an Englishman. Michael B. I also absolutely love it when you back up your terrible casting choice, with other notoriously bad choices. Well done Sweetie.

Your argument is tired, redundant, and boring.

Either you make a TMNT film, and cast it correctly, or make another movie and come up with your own title.

You say the argument's tired & boring yet you're still adding to it lol relax dude.

Look, it's like this:

We just sat through a god-awful TMNT experience. Some chowder head just made millions servicing the lowest common denominator at the box office.
We almost had aliens, and a White Shredder. Online retaliation forced their hand, but in the end it became "Shrek's sleigh-ride down the hillside; and other silliness." Many of us do not want a repeat of that.

I'm all for debates, but for the love of humanity, be reasonable Clyde!
Now is not a great time to posit wacky casting choices.

Good actors, sure, but there's better suggestions out there.

And LOL, listen, LOL seriously....

We're fanatics, or at least I am. Which means I'm crazy for the details, and maybe just plain crazy.

I'm crazy enough to think that the fans have paid more than enough money, over the last 30 years, to have earned 1, at least one solid, faithful TMNT film.

I get ya dude :) I thought you were just being a hater for the sake of being a hater (there's a lot of those out there) but your disappointment with this movie is clearly genuine. I feel bad for anyone who dislikes it cause I'd effin' HATE to be in that same boat. I've been a Turtles fan since seeing the 1990 movie in theaters when I was 4 years old. I've followed them my whole life. Yet I love the new movie. If I walked out of that movie angry a few months ago, it'd sour everything to do with Ninja Turtles & make me feel it's time to grow up, move on & leave them behind.
But I went to the late night showing on IMAX and with my jacket draped over me like a blanket, I felt like a kid again in bed watching the original on VHS repeatedly. Turtles III. Coming Out Of Our Shells. Next Mutation. This has never been a perfect franchise. I have my complaints with the 2014 movie but as the past shows; it could be so much worse. I enjoyed seeing Leo, Mikey, Donnie & Raph on the big-screen again so much that any complaints I have feel petty.
I figured there were a bunch of fans with the same perspective but apparently no. This really seems to be 'The Phantom Menace' with a lot of peeps. And that makes me sad cause I really doubt the sequel is gonna fix it's problems. The next script won't all of a sudden be full of depth & character development. Megan Fox is still gonna be in the center of it all. And we'll probably see even less of the Turtles next time what with additional characters added.

Shalhoub played Splinter. Tom Hardy made Bane an Englishman. Michael B. Jordan is now the Human Torch.

It's a problem because, other than MBJ as Johnny Storm, it takes away roles from the ethnicities the characters originally were. Plenty of roles for white people, so changing the a character who was white to something else isn't AS big a deal as the reverse.

If Splinter was Hamato Yoshi, i.e. if this production gave a sh*t about the source material, he should have been played by a Japanese man.

Bane should have been played by a hispanic man since Bane is South American.

Representation matters and there too many non-white roles going to white people.

Movies rarely stick to the race of their cartoon/comic counterparts anymore & seriously who cares. The only concern is the end result.

Spoken like a true white dude.

I really don't f*cking get this. I really don't get this mentality. "Oh it doesn't matter if it's faithful long as it's good hyuk hyuk!"

Thank you.

I didn't want to go there, but I'm really glad you did.
This is what I meant by a tired argument.
It goes both ways, and always ends in flames.

I'm not keen on the double standard, and think a character should be played as written in the source. We had this debate, over April, and in one ridiculous thread, over Casey Jones.

Representation is also incredibly important, as are the implications for a character as a result of their specific race. It shouldn't matter, that we have a Black President, a White president, Latino, or Asian. Male or Female. BUT societal pressure will ensure, currently, that it does. Why? Because people suck.

So the Characters are shaped, in part, by how they interrelate.

One could argue that the Turtles themselves are an extreme of this. The ultimate minorities. They can't vote, they aren't covered by the constitution, they live in our waste. The story could be told with four humans as sewer dwellers, and sure, it could still technically work. But it's their extreme segregation from humans that drives the story, and thus shapes who they are.

In a perfect world, race would mean nothing, or better, be celebrated. We would all hold hands and sing kumbaya. And in some stories, that might just be the case.

TMNT is not one of those stories.

Bebop is Black, one of a handful of black Characters in the anthology. Baxter Stockman, is BLACK. Making him white, would change his character.

Point is, it matters.

TheSkeletonMan939
11-20-2014, 01:56 PM
Yep. I don't care if you chance the ethnicities of minor characters (Spectacular Spider-Man, for instance, had a wonderfully diverse cast simply by utilizing lots of high school characters from the early issues and improving their character) but it's a bit worrying if you're changing the physical traits of more prominent characters for the sake of change.

That's why I'm glad Donald Glover wasn't chosen to be Peter Parker for The Amazing Spider-Man. I'm sure he's a great actor and would have done a good job, but that just wouldn't have been Peter Parker to me. Likewise, I can't imagine Rhodey or Robbie Robertson being played by a white man. And I can't imagine Shredder being played by anyone not of Japanese descent (Bay apparently could though when he cast Will Fichtner). Again, Fichtner's a great actor, but he just wouldn't feel like the Shredder to me.

Look, as I said the other day (yet this is still dragging out), in my harmless opinion, Jemaine Clement would make a fun Bebop. If you're saying Clement shouldn't even be a consideration because he's Maori and an not African American, as a Maori myself, I find that truly offensive. All these rants of racial misrepresentation, when at the end of the day you're boiling it all down to "white should be white / black should be black - The End". It's fictional characters we're talking about here. I predict the next James Bond after Daniel Craig will be black. That would be awesome (Idris Elba in particular). I get it, a black Peter Parker wouldn't feel like Peter Parker - initially. To shut down that very concept immediately is the exact discrimination you're preaching against.

That'd actually be a cool idea, as even now no two Bonds are alike. It'd certainly add credence to the theory that 007 and James Bond are code names given to a series of agents over time.

So, A black actor loses the role because it's racist to cast a black actor to play a black character, and instead we cast a Maori actor because you think it's offensive if we don't? Because you're Maori?

Look, as I said the other day (yet this is still dragging out), in my harmless opinion, Jemaine Clement would make a fun Bebop. If you're saying Clement shouldn't even be a consideration because he's Maori and an not African American, as a Maori myself, I find that truly offensive. My choices, which I could see realistically happening:

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac252/benman011/BebopampRocksteady.jpg

Jemaine Clement has a deep voice & is incredibly talented vocally (Flight Of The Conchords, Men In Black 3, Rio) and Danny McBride would fit Rocksteady like a glove. I'm one of the few who thought Knoxville's voice was the only thing that lent Leo any real presence in the new movie, so I'd love to see some similar casting with suprising results.

I want Tiny as Bebop. But I whole heartedly agree with Danny McBride holy s**t.

Ice Cube seems a realistic possibility too. They'd be great together. I bet ya at least one of us has made a correct prediction. I'm excited to find out who winds up being Bebop & Rocksteady :tgrin:

The sequel would have much potential for improvement (given they would hopefully have learned some things & not have to do the whole rewrite/cut fiasco) if it DIDN'T introduce those 3 new characters. As it is, we never got to know the turtles or see much of them interacting. If you're a big TMNT fan, you already know them, but if this was your first real exposure to them, you only know what you can see on the surface, in the designs. "Oh, that one must be the geek, he's got glasses." They don't show him studying, working on any projects. Raph doesn't go blow off steam or work-out, you get the idea. No emotional moments with any of them accept a tacked on speech from Raph where he apologizes for things he never did on screen. The whole flick focused on April, yet we hardly know anything about her, either, besides her being defined by her job & catching flies with that ever-open mouth of hers. Throwing 3 more characters into an already overloaded flick is baaaad move. Karai & Sacks were already unnecessary additions, folks we saw very little of that wouldn't have had any major effect on the film had they been removed altogether. If the new joint is gonna waste time on 3 extra origins/fights/whatever, you can kiss the turtles goodbye altogether. They're guests in their own movie(s). In some way it might be cool to have such "beloved" characters but their inclusion isn't gonna help with the poorly written dialogue & other MAJOR flaws the first one had. New writers would. Maybe. Even then, they're under the thumb of a staff that hates depth & creativity, wanting only macho crap & explosions. Casey's prolly gonna be some roided out moron with a chubby for Miss O'neil.

I don't know if you've watched the Transformers Quadrilogy, but in films like these, origins are foregone in place of human moments that have little to nothing to do with the title characters.

I'd lay money on the fact that the sequel will not explore anything about B&R; instead, it will be a single line "Bebop, Rocksteady, get them!!!" and a fight ensues.

Then five minutes of April doing something insipid. rinse. repeat.

Casey Jones on the other hand, very likely it's the April/Casey show for 2/3rds of the film.

I'm not a Transformers fan in the slightest (Well, I liked Beast Wars a lot as a kid) so no, I never bothered to watch them. Either way, time spent on new characters, be it origins or fights or a dance-off, is less time spent on turtles, so I stand by my saying it doesn't bode well.

You just know they'll have a "funny" little scene of Casey "staking his claim" to April and putting Vernon in his place, like, 5 seconds after he meets the two of them for the first time. Then every time they're on screen together we'll see them trying to out-macho each other while April rolls her eyes but does nothing else to discourage it. Put Mikey back in the mix, and I have a feeling an uncomfortable amount of dialogue is going to be based around April's ass.

And like Powder said, adding a bunch of new characters with the exact same runtime, plus this crew's general apathy for character development, and we're looking at (another) movie full of rapid cuts and rapid-fire one-liners (that aren't actually funny) but absolutely nothing substantial by way of plot or getting to know each or any characters. Everyone's going to be even more one-dimensional than they were before. "Here's Casey; he's a thug, but a good guy. Here's Bebop and Rocksteady. They're stupid." Then right to the smashy-smashy.

I mean, even if you just do the math... it *should* be easy for anyone to see, that the sequel just CAN'T be any good. At all. The foundation is already cracked, and they're trying to build the structure out of warm sh*t. You don't get anything solid from that.

This is cringe-y. "We know YOU love these characters so we're trying to shove them in as hard as possible no matter how much the story might suffer."

Yeah that's how it comes across.

I've never been chomping at the bit to see Bebop and Rocksteady in a movie. I'm not opposed to them or indeed most Fred Wolf elements it's just a case of how do you pull them of seriously in live action?

With Bebop and Rocksteady specifically they're more important than basic henchmen but less so than one the main villains. It seems something of a waste of time to give these characters an origin as well as budget to bring them to life would be better spent elsewhere for characters which aren't meant to carry a movie.

Also those characters don't lend themselves to ninja action which wouldn't necessarily be a problem if we'd seen the turtles engage in a fair amount of that in the first movie but they lied their asses off about that as there was jack all martial arts stuff in the movie.

Leo656

I've honestly always wanted to see Bebop and Rocksteady in a movie, and I maintain there's a way it can easily be done, but I don't trust THESE guys to pull it off satisfactorily.

The problem is, they're looking at these movies as a way to throw in a ton of fan-service stuff, at the expense of story or finding a way for things to flow or link together organically, so even though they come up with some ideas that people kind of do want to see, the execution suffers because it's just being squeezed in "because it has to be there, that's why".

Simply by being something we haven't seen yet in a movie, though, I expect they'll probably be a highlight of the thing. I'm just bummed because they already short-changed the story and the character development in the first one for budget reasons, now they've pretty much doubled their CGI expenses, and that means that if anything, there'll be even LESS attention to story, characters, and dialog, but even more smashy-smashy. Ah well.

Shredder Plus becomes Super Duper Shredder, add in B&R, and Bay's idea of more is better...

I hate Bebop and Rocksteady

Maybe they'll change them so that you no longer hate them? ;)

They all but flat out said they're just trying to shove characters we love in the movie for the sake of it.

Not really, no. Those last 5 words are your own words. :P >>> "Casey Jones is a character that we love and we're trying to fit him in as well."

They no doubt will change them up a bit. Guess we won't be finding out for a while though.

I call it as it is.

That other old chestnut. :)
There's a VERY big difference between being realistic and being cynical. You should learn it.

I don't think we should expect to see the same Bebop & Rocksteady from the 80s cartoon in the next movie, or at least not exactly the same. That'd just be too much wishful thinking. They'll no doubt be a little different. Ruthless mercenaries with the odd "blonde moment" perhaps? :P

Creating a new take on a character shouldn't be classed as "screwing them up", especially if that new take is creative. Keeping them the same would no doubt please die hard fans, but would also demand criticism for a lack of creativity.

Don't miss-quote. Big brother is listening.

Wasn't a miss-quote. But those are interesting choices too. Not sure I could stand listening to Snoop Dog for an extended period of time though.

It's pretty true. They are just one-note henchmen (though I bet the Nick show will flesh them out). Anyone else suspect they're gonna look to WWE for mo-cap casting? They'll need two MASSIVE dudes since the Turtles themselves are already big.

They don't really need huge dudes though. The turtle actors aren't that jacked. They just provide the skeleton.

Though I do think John Cena could be a decent funny Rocksteady.

Which is why I see snoop dog over Terry Crews. crews is really really annoying.
Snoop would be a nice contrast vocally, to a louder more aggressive rocksteady.

Terry Crews is also a **** actor.

Being heavily pedantic here, shouldn't we get back on topic? Calling folks dumb for liking/not liking the movie isn't being on topic. Plus it's insanely boring to read through.

Do you think Bebop and Rocksteady will be mutated humans or mutated animals? Shredder still had that canister when he fell (although it was broken.) Maybe Sachs will end up being Rocksteady if he's still alive, since he'd probably want revenge. Dunno who would be Bebop though, but a wild thought would be Vernon, since it would be a way to get him 'out of the way' for Casey and a way for Shredder to hurt April.

Clarke and Gordon from the OT, maybe? I wish Michael Clark Duncan was still around. He would have made a great Bebop. Man, that guy had one awesome and deep voice. Maybe Keith David could do Bebop. He could definitely make him sound more sinister if that's the way the writers are going. I'm drawing a blank as far as Rocksteady's concerned. Jeff Bennett? I have Gargoyles on the brain right now. I could try back later. I think David Kaye's got the chops for Rocksteady. He can get pretty gruff when he needs to. Scott McNeil could probably pull off a mean Rocksteady. I'm hearing something that sounds like a cross between his Beast Man voice from He-man 2002 and Bonesteel from Next Mutation. Sure Mutation was live action but I always loved that voice. David Kaye and Scott McNeil? Why am I subconsciously thinking of Transformers? Oh, hehe, yeah. Right.

True but did any thread get closed over the Imagi film? Anyone got banned over it? Not that I recall.

And naw dude, don't let Batista tarnish the good job he did as Drax. I do admit, it would be awesome if Cam and Barry voiced them... but they would have to make sound more believable and not cartoonish. As much as we lobe the original voice actors, hearing live-action mutant rhinos talk like the whiney Rocksteady from the old toon would be even more jarring than Tyson.

Actually, I think *because* of that I think Dave has a higher shot than most at actually getting one of the two spots, just because his name has some buzz right now amongst the "insiders".

Since CGI for speaking scenes is apparently prohibitively expensive, according to the studio themselves, they probably won't be saying much regardless. So it really doesn't matter, ultimately.

And I missed all the sh*t in 2007, thankfully, but I do know I hope something happens and they never do another movie again, ever. But that's off-topic.

Well, to be fair, I assume it does take a considerable amount of work to animate lips to speak as realistically as the non-CGI characters.... but then again, that's something they should have been well prepared for if they were going the all-CGI route.

Well to be fair a lot of threads go off topic. In this case the topic is heralding the existence of a sequel to this.... Less than desireable movie.

But to answer your question, at least in Rocksteady's case the 2013 version is a Russian arms dealer, accent and all, so it really depends on if the movie is gonna go that route though I'm sure they'll go the classic 80s route.

Although I'm pretty sure they either won't explain it, just mutate a rhino and warthog without the human element (the movie has so far only had animal mutants) or just have Sachs grab two random foot soldiers as test subjects.

Honestly they don't really need to be humans at this point. The movie ruined and changed everything else so who cares. A mutant rhino and warthog talking like street punks makes as much sense as a rat that's Japanese 'just because' and a turtle that somehow learned to make a friggin hoverboard.

I have a feeling Bay has been learning what not to do again since the debacle of TF 2, the humor in the TF movies is incrementally improving and there is far less booty shots then at the beginning. I've also read that the studio and Bay are listening to feedback of what people liked and didn't like in TMNT, which is a massive improvement over his previous 'Suck it' attitude when he was making the first 2 TF movies.

Women dress that way all the time and new station do that kind of "reporting" all the time. He doesn't talk about having sex with here all the time, he says on innuendo(shell tightening) and the rest his him being flirtatious with a girl he likes. You see these things on tv and in the real world all the time. and with the exception of the one line the rest really isn't inappropriate. As for that shot that is literally the only shot like that in the whole movie and the point he was making as compared to TF 1, 2, and 3 this is tame, for a Mbay movie which usually has a plethora of T n A shots and gratuitous Sexual innuendos, and foul language.

And please, people, educate yourselves what a "producer's" job is. YES, Michael Bay spent a lot of time working on TF during TMNT's production. Yes, that's where his primary focus was. Nobody disputes that.

HOW-F*CKING-EVER, his role in the TMNT project and his autonomy over it means that ALL major story decisions absolutely HAD to go through his approval, and very likely ALL of the actual footage itself had to go through him as well. There is a PECKING ORDER on movies like this, and if you honestly think Bay was off making his giant robot movie while blissfully unaware about Liebsman's work, you're goddamn delusional. Liebsman is a goddamn Nobody who would NEVER be given any kind of autonomy over a major studio picture with as much at stake as this one. Never, ever, EVER. EVERYTHING had to go through Michael Bay, even if it wasn't put under a microscope by him it still had to go through him in order to see print. That. Is How. It WORKS. F*CK.

I mean GOD... do you people read? I mean, do you read anything other than movie spoilers/reviews? Do... do any of you ever take the time to maybe, I don't know, shut the goddamn TV off, stop watching those "Behind The Scenes" puff pieces on your DVDs and actually find out how movies are actually made? Because a lot of the ignorance flying around is tragic, and a lot of arguments and hurt feelings could be avoided if people actually did their homework.

Books, people, F*cking books. You'd be amazed what you can learn, and then, once you do, you'll feel foolish as f*ck for all the completely ass-backwards and incorrect things you really believe. Honest. I'm trying to help. I can NOT abide Willful Ignorance.

Seriously people keep saying this and yet I just dont see it

I know you don't.

But guess what, it's true. She was the star of the movie. Her story, her (unneeded)character arc(that actually went nowhere since she didn't get her job back).

Trampoline scene is not overly sexualizing her.

Rationalize it all you want brah. Hot girls on trampolines is a thing, the very first shot we see of this movie's April is on a trampoline in yoga pants bouncing up and down. It's even brought attention to in the movie with her "I want to be taken SERIOUSLY as a REAL reporter" trope.

Very first shot we see of the original movie's April is her on a news report reporting on the city's major crime wave. You know, dignified.

Hell even in the original cartoon she was ACTUALLY reporting on criminal activity. It was cartoon criminal activity, but criminal activity.

Both, need I remind you, times it was enough to get the attention of Shredder who wanted her dead.

Instead of this movie's April who stumbled around and found out things accidentally with her mouth open.

Really You all do understand that the majority of Mbays time during the production of this movie was focusing on TF. lol
Seriously this is Not the Baysplurg everyone keeps saying it was.

Really you do understand that this was Bay's project from literally THE VERY BEGINNING. Before the director, before the actors, nearly before the f*cking writers.

All that info is available on the TMNT 2014 wiki page with credible, cited sources. Check it out some time.

This was HIS PROJECT.

They all but flat out said they're just trying to shove characters we love in the movie for the sake of it.

I'm not an optimist or a pessimist. I'm a realist.

See? Told ya.

I call it as it is.

Thank christ the people involved with this movie suck ass, or otherwise we might have gotten better, more interesting versions of these characters than we have in the past!

Whew! Bullet dodged!

This ain't directed at you TH, just something that really irks me about the incessant pleas to "stay on topic" from several people. It bothers me because that's not really why people were arguing. So keep in mind, when I say "you" in this next part, it's not any one person being "You", it's a group thing. Nothing personal.

So anyways... To be blunt about it, until we get studio confirmation or even media speculation, the topic has been exhausted. It's Dead. There's nothing left to discuss about it. Everybody already had a guess as to who the voices will be. Some people who made a guess or two, whether serious or in jest, further said, "They'll pick stupid choices, because they made stupid choices on some stuff in the first movie." It's understandable why they'd say that, and it's NOT really off-topic, frankly. It's supposition based on past events, and it's still just conversation. THAT got people who liked the movie upset again, and being offended is a Choice, so instead of "staying on topic", Those People jumped the rails and turned it into Defending The Movie yet again. Then, people on the other side who were challenged naturally defended themselves. So far, so good, no real "problem" here...

Normally, that's a "debate", but the people who post here nowadays can't seem to handle dissenting opinions the way they did Back In The Day, so the second anyone doesn't agree with someone else, it's Time To Cry To The Mods Again. And since you can't get people in trouble strictly for disagreeing with you, you claim it's because "They went off-topic". This is The Drome, kids. Topics stay on topic for about 15 minutes and then it's a free for all. Them's the breaks, cupcakes.

I'm NOT arguing, by the way. I'm pointing out the sequence of events. And that sequence of events proves, conclusively, that despite what some of you cats claim, you do NOT genuinely care if things stay on topic or not. Just admit it. You don't. You only care about having an Echo Chamber where nobody can say anything "negative" about the movie, and I'm sorry, you don't get that here. You can't go off-topic to yell at people just for pointing something out that IS connected to the topic, but then cry they're going off-topic when they defend themselves or point out why you're information is incorrect or logic is flawed or whatever. It doesn't work that way.

Again, I'm not arguing. Explaining the reason these "arguments" keep happening. As for the topic itself... Fine, play it straight, and stick to the topic. But this particular topic is dead until we get something substantial to talk about. So... yeah?

TrickOrTreater

Truthfully, I can't get super-worked up about B&R being put into the new movie -- I never found them all that interesting. I know some folks love 'em and that's great - there are just other bad guys who I prefer more. I can understand that folks are excited because it's arguably the first time that technology has really been able to put them into a live-action flick -- though I do wonder what a Henson-esque take on the characters would be like; whether that would work or whether having a guy in a suit would really just end up being too small (even if aforementioned guy was really ripped).

Guidelines, nothing more.

Lol, you're not. And I couldn't agree more that the pro folks are absolutely trolling us anti kids. They DO want an echo chamber of resounding opinions and speculation inside their narrow margin of The Bay-verse.

I don't agree with the Mods "cleaning up" the thread. The argument is valid, and more to the point, important. Everytime the fight is silenced, the resulting re-occurrence is a nastier version of it's predecessor. I completely agree that for those not involved, it's irritating, which is why, I DO think there needs to be a V.S. ( no, not Victoria's Secret Leo :P) thread, for all out, no holds barred, bickering. A section of the board, where mods let users go to town on each other until they exhaust themselves, away from the main forum. It's worked well for the after dark group, why not this ugly problem?

Maybe that's an unwelcoming idea to some, but really, it would probably help keep other threads clean of the fights...as the would be happening elsewhere.

ON TOPIC

I think Batista is a far more gifted actor than anyone realised. The guy could do better than a thankless role in PDTMNT2. I feel it would be a waste.

I also hope they do not go the 2012 route for their backstory. It's one of the few things I actually dislike from Ciro et al. I 'unno, but cyber anything just feels dated in 2014, and a Russian Arms dealer? Stupid as hell.

Ron Perlman's a guaranteed good time in pretty much everything he does, IMO... I just have a hard time imagining him doing either of the voices.

You know what the problem is? When I think of the characters, I can't imagine them speaking in a voice that isn't very gruff and not-the-sharpest-pencil-in-the-box sounding. It's hard for me to see them as anything other than dumb muscle, and the idea of B&R voice-acting ala the OT in a live-action movie could potentially be very... disconcerting, if not done correctly.

These two are hard to cast because they've really only ever been done One Way so far, and the movie won't be anything at all like what we're familiar with, so it's really hard to even come up with any ideas. Eh, I really believe acting in general isn't something you can fully "teach". Like, you can learn it, obviously, because there's classes and school theater and all that. But a certain amount of it is just charisma and the ability to grab a room before you even say a word, and that's not something you can learn or teach, you either have it or not. If you have even a little bit, you can bring even more out of yourself by practicing, taking classes, etc., but if you're a dead stick, all the classes in the world won't make you look or sound good in front of an audience.

This isn't me putting myself over, but... I'm a better actor than a wrestler. Like, I have to work at wrestling well but I can grab a mic and own the room with zero effort. That's not just me saying that, that's coming from people in the business who can tell the difference. Other than one school play in 6th grade, and a few wrestling seminars where we went over promos, I've never acted or taken a class. I just walk and talk like I own the room, 24/7, no matter where I am or who I'm in front of. That's, like, more than half of what acting is. That's why a lot of wrestlers can't act, they have all the physical skills but none of the charisma or verbal skills. You can teach one from nothing, the other, you kinda have to have a little already.

I didn't watch The first Micheal Bay TMNT movie yet, but Bebop and Rocksteady being in 2 has me psyched for that movie.

Famous last words.

Nope. I'm not one to say something like that and then go back on it. So there you go.

lol Seriously lol if hes not wasting time on the sequel why did he waist time posting about the sequel in a thread about the sequel talking about the sequel?

Oh what he mean is he will act like he doesn't care but will post repetitively his "opinions" about how bad the movie is Before, During, and After the sequel releases, he will waist time watching a half ass'd recorded copy :trolleye:

Love this site so much

ANy way How about
Georges St. Pierre As rocksteady His character in winter soldier was pretty kick ass and getting an mma actor would work for mocap.

And i stand by Jb smoove as bebop he would be hilarious

Have Pierre as the "serious one " and Jb to play of the that with more comedy would be awesome

I'm a girl first off. And I wanted to post my opinion on it and what I think will happen in this movie, so there you go. I have every right to post here just like all of you who want to see it. Leo didn't see the movie and he's posting in here, too, yet I see no complaints about him posting here. But this is the way it works here. If you don't like the movie, you have no right to post about it. I see how it is..

It has passed my eyes, in fact. Just to clarify.

I never said I was never going to see it. That it was not a huge priority at the time and I wish it had never been made. And now, I hope they never make another TMNT movie again, ever, until the end of time, because I don't have any faith it can be done.

And WOAH, Bubbly with the BJ jokes! :teek: Damn, you guys sure now how to turn a kitten into a mountain lion. Seriously.

You're welcome, guys. I'm glad to be of service. I'm just sick of this elitist crap that if we don't like the movie and don't want to see it that we're not allowed to be here and post our opinions. Screw that.

In all seriousness, I sense a pending lockdown. There's a handful of people who just can't seem to discuss the movie without copping an attitude and getting overly emotional - I feel bad for the mods having to break up the same arguments over and over again.

wouldn't surprise me. I think the mods need to suspend some of the users Machias brought up earlier give them some time to cool down for a bit.

Well to be fair, the pro movie people aren't helping things with their elitist, "Anyone who doesn't like this movie can't post here at all" attitude. That was one of the main reasons I stopped coming to the movie forum. They were insufferable in the anti-movie thread.

I wouldn't like to see that. I do kinda like the One Guy whose comments keep kicking up a dust storm. Generally. But he needs to actually read things people post before he clicks Reply and starts going after people. Because usually, the things he's talking about don't match what people are actually saying, he just goes after people for not agreeing with him and builds it from there. And then people naturally have to say something.

I don't like to see anyone banned. I've pointed out the cat's flaws and suggested ways in which he may better himself. No Dice. ((shrug))

I don't like to see anyone punished, genuinely. But I also don't think multiple people need to be punished for what One Person says/does.

DUDE. You're bringing up stuff people said six months or so ago that has nothing at all to do with why you're raging at people TODAY. And you're taking it out on people who didn't even say those things to you. Okay, so chuckles aside, Bubbly's comment was out of line. Fair game, sir. I laughed, but it wasn't necessary. Okay.

You keep talking about "people don't let you like the movie" etc. etc., when it's been pointed out to you, by several, the problem in this discussion isn't the movie. I'M not talking about the movie right now. Okay? I'm simply talking about the fact that you're overly defensive about it, and that when people confront you with Facts, you either Deny them, or you just dance around them, use Circular Logic, to end up back where you started: "Well, I liked this movie and so did this guy and..." That hasn't had anything to do with the events of today. Alright?

C'mon, man, take people's words for what they're saying and not the words you put in their mouths. This hasn't been about the movie for a long, long time. This is about you now, and the fact you don't know how to talk to people, especially people who don't agree with you, and that some people might get yelled at because YOU got the ball rolling.

Oh, and a lot of those folks you refer to got banned for bad behavior. You're probably hanging on by your fingernails. Sh*t or get off the pot, already. If you don't want to be here, if you hate it so much, just Leave. Otherwise, you're stirring sh*t to stir sh*t at this point, and you need to actually listen to people when they're trying to talk to you like a normal person.

((Siiiiigh)) Killin' me, Smalls. Killin' me.
