So Renet is coming to Nick TMNT

I know she's a time traveler...but I don't know much else about Renet...so I have 2 questions

1) What was Renet like before in other incarnations (her story...her personality)
2) What do you think Renet will be like now?

You know I may be one of the few that really loves the character, I loved the Mirage version and the 2k3 wasn't too bad. The idw look is pretty cute in the Turtles in Time arc as well. What really excited me the most when I heard that she's gonna be in the Nick series is that we may finally get a figure of her!:tgrin: and personally I think the Mikey crush will be adorable...hopefully haha

I only know her from Mirage and the new TiT comic. While she's written to be kind of annoying, she's also really cute and bubbly. To me, she is just as silly as Mikey so them together seems kinda perfect.
However, while I think the pairing is a cute idea, I'm not a fan of the show saying, 'Here's Mikey's girlfriend!' Instead of, 'We're bringing back Renet!'

Yeah but making sets is a budget issue with this show. At the very least, we can get a two parter episode or maybe a bottle episode like Girl in the Fire place from doctor who.

April, Karai and tea time girl, all three had some very entertaining moments with one if not all of the Turtles. Why is it when people want more girls on the show, it bugs you so much?It doesn't. I'm just genuinely curious as it comes across sometimes as, "Girls are better than boys!" "Nu-uh! Boys are better than girls!" It reminds me of a four-year-old me arguing with my older male cousin over which was better, "She-ra or He-man", which is a bit childish. Maybe if it didn't come across as some kind of important aspect by those who bring it up, I wouldn't question it.

Like I said, for me, I don't care one way or the other. Honestly, Radical would be an interesting addition and would be the first Mirage character that 4Kids didn't get their hands on.

As for Renet.... she's a time traveler. And an airhead. That's really all there is to her. Not really expecting her to have more to her, except the Mikey crush which I hope is two-sided. Especially since her being a time traveler is the biggest part of her character. And as a time traveler.... she is not gonna be a permament character. She kinda can't be in more than an ep or two without accidentaly turning the show into TMNT Fast Foward II.

Also, I like female characters because I enjoy seeing a nice distribution of gender representation and diversity. I also like seeing different races, species, cultures and orientations.

I do really hope they permanently fill the adult female character void however. Not necessarily present all the time, but there off and on. Good presense for all those motherless(?) teens and another adult for Splinter to interact with for once.

Yeah, me too. I loved the 2k3 show, but like you, I'd love to see this girl being given more depth. Outside of 2k3, I don't know much about her, but sounds like she's the same in the comics. I imagine the Nick writers will handle her well. They made Irma's character less goofy and more intelligent. Never mind the fact that she turned out to be a he and he was a villain. But I have no doubts that the writers will put a new spin on Renet.

I read the Mirage comic and she doesn't seem like a memorable character. I can only think how much milk she carries around...them super big breasts.

I'm sure Nick can provide so much more than that. But as Mikey's "love interest". Ugh..well maybe I'll like it, but at the moment I prefer Mikey being just by himself.

Has something to with time travel so maybe they'll give her amnesia thus taking all the moments she had with mikey, and even worse she regress back to a having valley girl mentality which rob all the maturity and wisdom that she gain over the years. Likewise when they see her for a second or third time, they might know her but she won't know them because for her it's the first time she met them.

If she's her crazy, bubbly self in this one as she was in 2003 (and other versions?), I'm thinking it may be that Mikey is drawn to all that energy and similarity in personality. Those two are going to wear everyone else out.

To be fair, I think Leo seems to have a history of being attracted by a woman that impresses him? If she can duel him evenly toe to toe he's probably smitten. lol If she's also 'perdy' then I guess he's a goner. lol

It wouldn't bother me personally if he does fall for her by sight or anything, as that's normal in some cases. Some people do fall for others by sight or something about said person draws him/her to said person. If I'm not mistaken, my parents were like this.

My mother said that she was walking to the grocery store with her younger cousin for Ice cream. She decided to walk that day instead of driving him. My father saw my mother, and he said he didn't know what it was about her, but he was just instantly drawn to her and just had to talk to her. They spoke, he asked her out, and the rest is history. Will have been together 40 years next year (married 33 at this point though).

In Donnie's case it seemed to be love at first sight, but he also spent the majority of season 1 trying to impress her while also trying his best to get to know her as a person (hence his trying to find ways to hang with her or share a common interest).

In Leo's case, it seems there was a bit of the love at first sight thing, but I feel that her alluring, mysterious approach, along with her being a martial artist is what truly drew her to him.

Who knows how Mikey will be, but I hope he'll be super adorable! But, I do feel that Renet's treatment of him may draw her to him.

Snake said that he heard from Ciro that Armaggon was showing up too, and if they're making him come from the future, it sounds like we'll be seeing some pretty time travel heavy stuff at some point. Renet will probably be very important where that stuff is concerned. Poor kid might even be stuck in or banished to the present this time around.

Neither of them are bimbos. Mikey is smarter than the Turtles give him credit for, and while Renet did act like a bit of an airhead in the 2K3 series, I don't think she was that stupid. She was more about not wanting to do the chores she was assigned and made mistakes because she was an apprentice. I'm excited for her appearance here and can't wait to see what the crew has in store for her.

She's a time traveler. She kinda HAS to be a recurring character like Leatherhead or Slash, or else what's stopping them from jumping back and forth through time to fix anything that ever went wrong with them. Plus you can't have them jumping through time every episode.

That could amplify the problem even further if this time traveling is a reoccurring thing. Even worse than complicating the plot lines, I really, really hope that they don't try to mess with the whole love triangle thing in regards to the time traveling aspect. Otherwise, it'll be as complicated as following soap opera romantic relationships. :lol:

As for Renet being a potential love interest for Mikey, meh... it seemed overdue considering how inclined the show is toward forming, and especially reinforcing, their romantic crushes. With Mikey, Leo, and Donnie all having their crushes, it seems like only a matter of time now before Mona Lisa or Ninjara shows up for Raph. Considering the sizable following of those two (Mona Lisa and Ninjara), I'm sure somewhere at Nick, someone is advocating for their inclusion into the Nick show to boost sales and/or popularity of the franchise in its current state.

I hope they take Ninjara in a different direction or put a interesting twist on her character. Like for example, instead of being just a fox person, which the comic never explain how or what they are, Ninjara could instead be an actually a kitsune. Like the kitsune in this series are a race of people who have soul of a fox but born trapped in a body of a human, so physically they're human, but psychological they are not.

Yeah, this is how I see Splinter too. I think he will be a bit apprehensive at first about the whole thing but then will see that his son is happy and be fine with it. I'm just excited to see Renet and what she'll bring to the show.

I wonder which one would show up first, or at all? Mona Lisa hasn't been seen in a TV show except for that one episode, so long ago. Ninjara has never seen her cartoon counterpart actually being introduced. (I think Ninjara having some sort of connection with Tigerclaw could be awesome)

I'm not really counting Karai, because she started out human and has been mutated and will most likely be restored to herself, or partly herself since they have to keep some form of mutation in her if she is to be with Leo as his girlfriend...but that is a whole other thread.

Mikey is so adorable and goofy and seems, imo, to be the most confident in himself in comparison to the other three. I'd just find it more interesting. Personally, I'm hoping Mikey is oblivious to even liking her. You know, he's fond of her, but doesn't fully understand how or why.

I think when Mikey loves someone it's out there for all to see. He doesn't shy away or pretend it isn't there, which is why I love him so much. I think it would work great if he's fond of her but doesn't understand how or why, that is perfect for him. It would also be refreshing if this romance storyline would be more fun and lighthearted compared to how Leo and Donnie's have been so far. I've wanted to read the Archie comics, but I'm not sure they have them in a collection or if I have to get them little by little. I'll have to look into that.

I really liked Mona Lisa with Raph because they seemed to fit together well. She seemed to handle him well and he seemed to like her. I also think it works because she is sort of a rebel too and she's a brain, which would be different for Raph. I can't wait to see how things work out for the guys. Hopefully, they will get a happy ending and not just some loose ends that are left hanging.
