You only get to choose one!

So pick your most favorite.

Originally it was Mikey, but I've got a bit tired of him lately. Then it was Leo, but I feel like Seth Green killed him. Donnie also got annoying due to the crush.

I guess Raphael now. He's the only one whose personality isn't taking an annoying turn.

Honestly Raph the only turtle not annoying me lately.

Most definitely Raph. Always has been.

What does Seth Green have to do with anything?

Being the voice of Leonardo makes him pretty relevant.

Of course Raph may win this, you don't need all the spotlight to win polls and that grumpy little bugger has many fans in general. :P

favorite turtle in everything is Donatello. Everything

Exceppppppt nick, where I still like him, just prefer the calmer less nerdy Donnie, though this Donnie I believe is slowly developing into the Donnie I love.

But yeah, my vote goes to Leo, because this series has really fleshed him out as someone other than an honorable leader

Raph... the lone wolf.
or Raph... the Casey sidekick vigilante.
(actually maybe Casey is Raph's sidekick)

Is and forever will be, Raphael. Either be it the funny, sarcastic, witty humored Turtle from the 80's, to the high strung, tempermental creature from the movies, to the outright deadly and dangerous mutant from the 2k3, to the new brother that likes to pick on his brothers, but has a heart of gold when they are down in the dumps.

I guess my profile pic already gave away who I voted for. Incidentally my real-life self isn't too different from his character. I mean, I also have a personal lab and I fix/invent stuffs a lot too.

His line in the first episode "LOOK AT ALL THE COMPUTERS" already got me 100% :tgrin:

Geez I can't choose between Mikey and Leo, again.

I gotta go with Leo, being the eldest was so frustrating and demanding. I relate to him the best. Oh and he has cute moments like putting out his pinky finger when drinking tea so I sometimes did that too

Wow, Raph is leading with 9 whilst the rest are all 4 equally. :o

Raph - he usually gets my vote, and I love how they've shown multiple sides to his character in this show.

This version of Leo has definitely made me grow fonder of his character in general, so he would be a close second.

Donnie has always been my fav, but watching him in a love triangle and repeatedly butt heads with Casey gets a little tiresome. On the other hand, Mikey started off as such a dumbass, but he's gotten so much better as the show goes on. Plus, any scene with him and ICK is just adorable. :D So I have to say Mikey.

Interesting. Lately I would choose Raph, but he was so awful in the first season I haven't forgiven him. His voice acting is indeed fantastic though.

I went with Mikey because Leo and Don get on my nerves more too. Probably just people are voting for their favourite Turtle in general; Raph is most popular overall so that's that.

I thought the whole point on making Donnie the most focused was to increase his popularity? It may be increasing it, but not all popularity is in a good light.

Yah, I wouldn't mind Donnie being focus of the series if they wrote his character in character.

To me this Donnie feels all wrong, the love triangle doesn't do him any favors.

I used to love Donnie's character too, in all the shows he was always my second favorite.

Leo's always been my favorite but this series really made me love the guy even more, for the first time ever I'm starting to like Mikey but if only they wrote him like what he was in that Dimension X episode all the time :(

Raph would be third, if they used him more and added more for him than maybe my opinion on his character would change. In the 4Kids series, man what a hot head

Raphael has always been my favourite turtle, in every version except 2k3. However, I do like this Raph especially. He has depth and it seems to me that the Raph we have seen so far is a younger, softer, less embittered Raph and we are actually seeing him on a journey into something far darker than we have seen from him yet. I'm intrigued to see what they do with him in future episodes.

One of the biggest attractions to this Raphael is Sean Astin. He is a genius and has done a really good job voicing him.

Definitely Mikey. I always have a thing for the goofy loveable characters in series since I can relate to them the most. :twink:

I just wish Nick would make more Mikey-Centric episodes that are bit more serious (like the Dimension X epi) and show off more of his raw talent.

As for the others, they all tie 2nd place in my heart. I just can't choose between them. I love them all.

The poll results the comments posted are proving what I've been saying, and why the turtles being focused on in this show are being focused on.

The majority of people posting are stating "... has always been my favorite..." Meaning that barring something completely outlandish, they'll still be your favorite in this version, so many of the voter's selections on here are based on past preferences, and not what the show has done. Raph & Mikey always been the more popular to the fans than Leo & Donnie were to the older fans based on what the 80s show or 1st movie did for them. The poll reflects that as many of us grew up in that era. As I stated, barring something crazy, your favorite character won't change, though may sway more than before.

The main purpose of the show was to try and balance the popularity of all the turtles when they attracted the new viewers, meaning the turtles focused on are the ones that needed the most help. So they've been given story arcs, that while many on here don't particularly care for, helps with the viewer they're trying to bring in.

I'm not trying to be a dick here, I've just been saying that maybe who you like most in the show has nothing to do with how much focus they have in the show and maybe more so because it's the character you were exposed to as a kid growing up loving. Is that fair?

HotNunchuckFury
10-25-2014, 03:45 PM
Maybe for some people that is the case but not for me. Throughout my childhood Mikey was my favourite hands down, none of the other 3 came close. I surprised myself when watching the 2k3 cartoon as an adult to discover that Raph was my favourite turtle in that show with Donnie as a very close second. With 2k12 it's Raph again but closely followed by Leo. In the comics I find it harder to decide, although in IDW I'm swaying towards Donnie. So they all get fair game with me.

That's a very interesting observation, and I suppose inevitable due to human nature: we will all have a favourite based on something about the character that appealed to us or was relatable.

I suppose an interesting take on the poll would be to ask the question: when has your favourite turtle not been your favourite? And why?

For example, I've always loved Raph because even when young (I'm an older fan - in my 30s), I related to his angst because I was angsty, but was comforted by the fact that he had a softer, more emotional side. I suppose in some way his character helped me understand myself a bit better because at the age of, say, 10, I didn't really understand why I felt compelled to exhibit anger when actually what I felt was sadness. So in most versions I love him just as much, but I HATED his portrayal in 2k3 because they removed a lot of the frailty of his character. Yes, he had a couple of moments but in the main he was brutish and primitive and just aggressive. That in itself speaks something of the elements of Raphael that are important character traits to me.

I don't think I can buy this. I just think Donnie is getting the focus because he is the primary executive producer's favorite Turtle. Nothing more, nothing less! Raph got focused in the 1990 movie and 2007 movie because the directors of those movies came right out and admit he was their favorite.

I LOVED Leo in season one. His dorky little wannabe hero shtick was just so endearing. He slowly became more boring throughout season two, and now that he's been recast twice he just doesn't feel the same.

So Mikey it is.

It may be true that some fans want to stick with their preferred turtle from when the watched other incarnations. However for me this is not the case.
In the 80's and 2003 Donnie was my favourite turtle, while in the movies it was all about raph for me. In 2012 Mikey is now my favourite and Donnie my least.
This may be that I've changed as I've grown up and I could relate to each of their personalities in a different time in my life.
That being said I tried very hard to like Donnie more in 2012, but you just can't force that sort of thing because it doesn't feel real.

My 'secondary favorite' changes depending on the incarnation- OT it was Mikey, 90's movies Donnie, and 2012 is Leo.

2012 Donnie is the closest I've come to actually disliking a turtle, but as long as April isn't around he's alright.

Well, I imagine that for those who have a firmly established favorite he exists in that seat for a reason. And unless a character is portrayed entirely counter to what he normally is or the fan does not have a firm favorite, or is young and changes favorites through maturation of their own personality, most are probably still going to like the same Turtle.

To be fair I hadn't seen the 2003 series until this summer and prior to early 2013 had been away from the fanbase for quite a long time, in which at that point I'd given 2012 a chance and found my old fave was still my fave. If anything 2012 itself is what led me to get reacquainted with the character, and TMNT in general, and I do very much like the collective Leo in what he's grown into over the years through various versions. Whole new perspective and appreciation this time around, love all the versions of himself he's ever been. (Ok, 2007 is a low point, but I blame the writers for making him look bad...)

Because that was the first plan for the show that was changed because other writers felt Raph didn't need it.

2012 Donnie is the closest I've come to actually disliking a turtle, but as long as April isn't around he's alright.

With me, it comes to this. And it's usually because how they interact to Raphael. The 80's toon, I toggled back and forth between Mikey and Donnie, probably I liked Mikey the most.

The 90's movies, I liked Mikey the most with Leo a close second.

2k3, I loved Leo and Donnie, I really did not like Mikey.

2007 movie, I loved Donnie, I was indifferent to Mikey, and Leo was a complete dick in that movie.

2012, it's going back and forth between Leo and Donnie. I'm not so much a fan of this Mikey. I'm just feeling, with Donnie, the creator is taking staples that became popular around Raphael, and are like, well, all this made Raph popular, so lets stiff Raph and give it to Donnie to boost his popularity, like giving him Raph's original voice actor, and giving Donnie the first crush (it's usually been Raph or Mikey) and let's make Casey Jones into Donnie's friend (Raph will introduce the dude to the team, actually, he really didn't, it was April) but Casey will evolve to become Donnie's buddy. This is why I don't like it when they have favorites, because someone is almost always alienated. I think the 1990 movie did best in handling favorites without losing focus on the rest of the team.

If I was to tell you that Donnie's relationship with April was originally meant for Raph by Ciro's initial pitch of the show mainly to increase the tension between Raph & Casey, what would you say about that notion?

Because that was the first plan for the show that was changed because other writers felt Raph didn't need it.

He can say anything he wants, I just don't buy it. He is probably just talking sh!t out of his ass, and is outright lying!

I think she probably already knows that.

I know about it, I'm just not buying it. I think he'll say anything to try and justify Donnie taking front stage and center, instead of just coming out and saying "Well, it's my show, he's my favorite and he's going to be the main focus, so there! Take it or leave it!" And with his ego, I can totally see him thinking this way.

The odd thing is that I feel that Nick Donatello is entirely counter to normal. And he's pretty unpopular according to this (non representative) poll.
Donnie is funny, I admit that, but honestly, it's interesting, that everything they are doing to try to make him the most popular/favorite Turtle, is actually having an adverse affect the long timers. The new people coming on board who are favoring Donnie tend to be the tween, teeny girls, and it's pretty much due to Apritello. If Apritello ends up not happening, expect the ratings to drop like a rock big time. Same could be said for Leo and his relationship with Karai. While I am pretty sure the show being moved around constantly by Nick and the hiatus are having an affect on ratings, I also think the exclusion of Karai is a bit part of the decline in ratings as well.

I find it interesting how people can keep a favorite with so many incarnations and versions with different visions and interpretations based on the incarnation. This is why I can't have an overall favorite as it changes from version to version. If I was to tell you that Donnie's relationship with April was originally meant for Raph by Ciro's initial pitch of the show mainly to increase the tension between Raph & Casey, what would you say about that notion?

Because that was the first plan for the show that was changed because other writers felt Raph didn't need it.You know, imo, even if they had gone that route, I still feel Donnie and Leo would still get the main focus because Donnie is tech/genius and their enemy are a bunch of aliens with high-tech equipment and Leo is the leader and both usually always deal with "main plot" stuff.

I think the 1990 movie did best in handling favorites without losing focus on the rest of the team.
I like the 1990 movie as much as anybody...but no. That's not even close to being accurate.

I don't think so. The fact that April is the one the Kraang are after is what made the relationship with April special in Season 1 particularly. Because Donnie is the only one who could devise plans to stop the Kraang's schemes, and he needs to make sure they work to protect the very person he cares about.

Everything that has transpired throughout the show was used to give Donnie personal stakes. Because in theory, if he wasn't distracted in making sure the retro-mutagen was perfect to make sure April's father was cured to help April, Donnie could have realized what to do much sooner.

But, I just think it was better focused, despite Raphael being the center. He didn't save the day nor did he have the best scenes or lines. He was even out for a good chunk of the movie.

My favorites have always been the same order since I was two and never changed. I do prefer a certain version of each turtle over any other though the order does not change. 1.) Mike 2.) Raph 3.) Leo 4.) Don No hate on any turtle I just have a order of preference.

But he had the most Important scenes, there's a difference. Most everything that happened in the movie were Raph scenes, or based on events Raph did.

Raph found Casey
Raph brought April to the lair
Raph bringing April to the lair is what allowed the Foot to find the lair
Foot takes Splinter based on Raph's actions
Raph left the team
Raph gets beaten up (Taken from another character's arc)

I can keep going. But I don't feel I need to. The movie is very heavy Raph based, based on character development and character scenes.

God, you are dense. There is a difference between centric and focus.
Compared to other mediums
that have certain Turtles as focus
like 2k3 and Leo
2012 and Donnie
2007 and Raph
the 1990 movie still managed
to allow each Turtle to have shining moments
and neither of them saved the day
but all of them as a team.
This is what I meant that the 1990 movie did it best! And it did.

Yes, I have to agree that the 1990 movie was obvious about its favouritism. Leo and Mikey had enough good stuff I suppose, but Don was pretty out of character and shafted. Again, I don't mind that Donatello has the most focus in Nick, but I think it's gone too far. I don't think he's co-opting Raph's personality because except in the OT Raph has never been exactly a snarky spaz. But he is co-oping Raph's relationship with Casey.

I have the same order of preference, MikeandRaph87, but Raph and Leo switched places in 2003 and now I don't know my order because all of the Nick turtles can be pretty unlikable at times. I do think my order of preference depends on how well the character treats others, so I don't really like this Splinter or the Season 1 Raph (to halfway through Season 2). Not a huge fan of Leo in Nick, either.

Raph leading, Mikey beating Leo, and Donnie is not far behind.

Speaking of Splinter, I love this version the most. He's so strict and unafraid to issue out severe punishment. Watch in Squirrelanoids how they brought in a homeless guy to the lair, Leo tried to reason with him by joking a little. He just tapped his staff to the ground just once and that's enough to jolt Leo's senses, putting him in an attention position. He trained them like soldiers. His strength is equal, perhaps more than the Shredder.

And I love his tall height - towering all his sons. He has absolute total control and authority as the figure head of the family. :tlove:

Aw, poor Donnie. I still find his neurotic personality, along with his sarcasm hilarious, which is why I favor him for this incarnation. He's so different from the other incarnations, and I like the fact that he isn't always calm, cool, and collected. I also like how he's learning how to deal with the April thing. He tries something, realizes it doesn't work or comes across as not right, he doesn't do it again. Awkward teenager galore, eh? Who can't relate to that.

I favor Leo this incarnation because he acts like an actual kid who's still learning, not someone who's coming across as already perfect or near there while also enjoying his awkward teen moments....and I want to also blame Biggs' voicing of him that also drew me to him this incarnation. The way he did the voice where he's trying to be leaderish was great, and then in the same scene go to, "Hey, listen to me, I'm leader!" was great to me.

With Raph, I'm glad that his temper isn't always focused on or just used just to be used and glad that he seems to have some control over it. I also like how he does come across as nurturing at times and glad he doesn't come across as bully-like, like in the earlier eps. I like the mellow Raph we have for season 3 so far.

With Mikey, I like how he is the heart, but that's the case with all incarnations of him...but I still hated how dumb, as well as ADD/ADHD he was portrayed back in season 1. I like him okay, but find him more interesting now given how he's progressed from season 1 and how you can actually see the difference. That Shellacne ep showed a lot, or rather told us a lot about him, I felt.

So yeah, seems as I'm watching this show, my favorites keep shifting. Leo and Donnie started off as favorites because I found both funny, given how they're supposed to be the mature, level-headed ones who were still coming across as childish which I absolutely loved. They weren't coming across as the perfect ones like in some previous incarnations.

I'm starting to enjoy Mikey more because he's coming across as competent and stuff...unless the plot calls for him not to be and as I was saying, I'm enjoying this laidback, more mellow Raph this season.

Hm, still can't pick. I should just pick Leo, since this is the first incarnation where I have ever favored his character. The other three have been favored before for me in some other incarnations...

OT: Raph and Mikey
Archie: Donny and Raph
Mirage: Mikey and Donny

Hm, guess I favor all four for this incarnation. There should be an option for that.

Heh, the crush isn't the thing that bothers me. I'm getting irked that most of the storylines are revolving around him, and now they claim at the recent comic con that there was going to be more Casey and Donnie bromance/bonding moments. I have a problem with this, because Casey was supposed to be Raph's buddy. I mean, they still didn't even want to showcase that it was Raph and Casey working on the truck in the comics, not Donnie and Casey. This is why I feel like it's turning into the Donnie, April and Casey show, the hell with the rest.

I totally agree. I actually liked the Donnie episodes in Season 1 when they were just expanding on his character, but in Season 2-3 it just got seriously annoying just to see a majority of those episodes center around Donnie's crush on April, not to mention the rivalry between him and Casey. They are makings these characters completely unlikeable for me. I hate April now, I don't care for Leo anymore after that Karai mutation incident, and Casey is nothing but a douche now. The only characters I'm still fond of is Raph and Mikey, which get nothing but repetitive development episodes, with little focus compared to the others. Yeah I pretty much miss the Raph's and Casey's moments, too bad it's being overthrown by this annoying love-triangle.

I don't know how competent he is, Cap, Hulk and Tony still managed to achieve their goals, and Thor to a lesser extent.

Either way, he's still just supporting cast, to Casey and April of all characters. It should be the other way around. Same with Mikey, he too takes a backseat to Casey and April, and it's usually because of the whole Donnie love triangle thing.

Yeah, I guess it would stretch their brains some to actually come up with genuinely funny moments for Mikey. Well, instead of the stupid Mikey, make him the jokester Mikey, spewing out puns and what not. They want to copy and paste visual images from the 1990 movie, but they don't seem to want to bring over the character depth like Mikey had from the movie. The thing is no matter what version I never changed the order of favorites from 1 to 4 going all the way to the toddler days 25 years ago. So this for not everyone, but me if another favorite turtle poll. Now ranking turtles by incarnations is another thing. Ithink Leo was done much better than Michelangelo for example in the 2003 cartoon and is my favorite Leonardo version BUT Michelangelo is my favorite turtle even if Leo had the better portrayal. You know, I was watching some reviews on youtube from various people, from across the globe, and it seems the biggest complaint against this show is that there is no continuity, focus and just too much random mutant/monster of the week. And, because of concentrating on the new mutant/monster of the week, they feel the focus on the character development of the regular characters is paying the price. Like how Leo's state of mind is not being addressed. Alot of people also like to compare TMNT to Kora, but right now, Kora is kicking TMNT's butt in quality.

I'm goin' with Mikey this time around. I love Leo and Raph because they're edgy. Donnie is awesome because he's able to think his way out of pretty much anything. But this incarnation of Mikey has a lot of heart. I've liked this guy since the premiere. Granted, it's often difficult for me to pick a favorite. I pondered this for quite a while before choosing Mikey. Then I go back and watch Monkey Brains or Metalhead and think,"Aw I should have gone with Donnie!" Same with Leo/Raph episodes. When I was a kid and all I had was the OT, my favorite was always Donnie. Now, thanks to the 2k3 and 2012 shows, they all seem like one family to me. So it's tough choosing just one turtle as a favorite. I'm probably going to kick myself for this later. haha

I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the ride because I can't wait to see how they handle this and how Leo comes back to himself.

I just liked the way 2k3 did it better.

I see Leo still being himself.

He's still dorky, sill looses to Raph in video games, still drinks tea with his pinky finger out, still making mistakes (like talking bad about Big Foot), still incestly gay for Raph, still bossy and instructing people around.

I haven't seen him watching any tv show yet but at least he's playing video games to lay back and relax.

If this is the reason why ratings are dropping, then this should be the wake up call for Ciro rethink his writing style "strategy".

That too is to blame. I came across another review that tackles the way Nick is treating TMNT.

Well when it comes to this particular incarnation, none of these Turtles leap out at me for some reason so I don't have a favorite (Nick/2012) Turtle, :ohwell:

My favorite all-over character from this show would have to be Leatherhead.

Gotta be honest, this version of Michelangelo is quickly starting to grate on my nerves with his baffoonery. I don't know if it's the writing or Cipes or what, but this version is literally starting to make me want to punch something.

Mikey's supposed to be the lovable goof, but this version is just nerve-rackingly stupid.

The last time I truly loved Mikey as a character, would have been in, shocking enough, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3. Since then, from 2k3, 2007 movie, 2014 movie and Nick, he has also grated my nerves.

I still like Raph the most in this series, but it's nice to see that all of the characters get a bit of screen time. Mikey is quite funny to me and I think that younger kids love his slap stick humor. Donnie has quite the story going on for him and he's been quite funny at times too. Leo has been great, but if I'm honest, I feel like he's the least used turtle in the Nick series. It's too bad because I loved his addiction to the Space Hero cartoon in season 1.

All of the turtles have had both strong and weak episodes. I just want to see how long they are willing to produce this show. I hate it when shows are cancelled even though they could have clearly continued for much longer.

I honestly don't have a preference with the type a person is for me to favor. Raph may be my favorite in the TMNT, but Captain America is my favorite of the Avengers, and he's more Leonardo's type. In NCIS, McGee is my favorite, and he's the Donnie type. In X-Men, it's usually Rogue, but depending on the movie, Wolverine/Rogue in X-Men 1, Pyro in X-Men 2, Magneto in X-Men First Class and DOFP, and all of the characters are all over the place in terms of personality types. Hermione is my favorite in Harry Potter, and she's another Donnie type. Legolas is my favorite in LOTR, (not sure what personality he would be) Bilbo in the first Hobbit, and Bard in the last two Hobbits. Haymitch, Katniss and Jane are my favorites in The Hunger Games, and other personal favorite fictional characters are Hitgirl (I guess her personality mostly matches Raph) and Andy Knightly from The World's End (not too sure what personality he would be, maybe Raph?)

In the beginning, I voted for Donnie, as Mikey (my all-time fave turtle) just felt too dumbed-down in this version. And while I still love Donnie here, Mikey is slowly regaining his previous spot as my favorite. The episode where he was stuck in Dimension X alone really did a lot to improve his character, I think. He still has a long way to go, but I love him much more now than I did at the beginning of the series.

I'm still so used to him in the OT as the laid back surfer/skater type guy.
I suppose the 2014 film showed what that character would be 30 years later... he was basically a bro but I have seen that type of character in skaters and other similar-personalities (I am friends with a few skaters and one going semi-pro).

My problem in the Nick Mikey is that he feels VERY young. He is still a great character and has some great moments... but there are times to reflect where you realize he's fairly far off from what his roots were.
Of course lets keep in mind that the original comic Mikey had almost no personality for awhile.

I vote Donnie in Nick. Most times it's usually up to Don or Raph for me. I still like either, infact I think all characters are handled well enough... Sean Astin does great as Raph so I have no complaints on him, I just enjoy Donnie (although I wish they would tone back more on the creepy bestiality implications of Don, a turtle, wanting April. As sweet and innocent as it might be...

What the heck.

I quote:

I was shocked by the bestiality of their behavior.
<by the end of hostilities the populace had been reduced to a level of bestiality that would have been unthinkable before the war>

From this page: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/bestiality

So...Donatello isn't a "lower animal". This word implies that.

I guess the Doctor from Doctor Who making love to a human woman is beastiality, or Superman being with Lois Lane, or any other number of *fictional* pairings.

This is a cartoon- they AREN'T implying beastiality.

My bad. *bestiality, not beastiality. I keep misspelling it.

Yeah, kind of a weird gray area real life has no definition or moral decisions decided on since we've never had to deal with being among other intelligent, sentient, consenting beings who fit the category of 'people.'

Goodness help us all if our species ever found itself in close association with relatively human-like aliens like in some movie.

<by the end of hostilities the populace had been reduced to a level of bestiality that would have been unthinkable before the war>
Clearly they intended a different definition than how that sounds, but... wow that sounds so wrong.

Feel like I have to choose which Leo since the show's had what feels like 3 different versions (due to the 3 actors who've played him).
