I thought I'd copy what pennydreadful did in another thread and ask who likes to tweet on a daily basis. You can find me @Jephael

Never saw the appeal of twitter. What's the point of having something just to post short messages on?

Twitter is BEST networking device ever. I've been able tonmeet so many cool people, and personal heroes, through Twitter.
I'll follow anyone in here! I'm always looking for more TMNT pals.

I've got one. Only use it occasionally, though.

It's also NSFW as hell. Never any pictures, but I talk about sex and porn a lot. [Though that's also because I have hardly anybody to talk to on there.]

Should I make a "Dromers on Facebook" to complete the trifecta? :P
Twitter is a very complex social network to set up, if you don't know how to use it then its the biggest trash in the world and most of the people using twitter use it in that way. Knowing who to follow is key, if you tweet stuff I don't care about then I just stop following. Once you get a nice list of people who tweet things you are mostly interested in then you have a very nice twitter feed, but that takes some time.
http://www.twitter.com/0sdp I don't tweet too often, I'm trying to tweet more often at about once a day but I don't tweet unless its something I think another person would be interested in and I find interesting just like what I expect from other people's tweets.

I've only signed up for Twitter once- in order to get a few points for the TMNT Fan Club. I even only use Facebook approximately twice a week, and having Twitter puts extra stress to use it multiple times a day, and I feel that it will cause my attention span to grow too short and lower my IQ. I even got a dormancy email and my account is getting deactivated. Just share phots with Flicker/Photobucket and videos with Youtube on Facebook, blog on Tumblr, and you've got more than enough tools for proper social media. Twitter is minimalism gone amok.

Through Twitter I've won a few giveaways for shirts, game codes, posters, etc. Its one of the first places ticket sales are announced for the conventions I like that are hard to get tickets for now. So if it wasn't for Twitter I probably wouldn't have made it to Pax East the year before last. And during any kind of event, I use Twitter to track down persons of interest. I managed to meet up with some cool artists and writers. For example, I didn't need to get up at 4am during NYCC to wait in line to get a chance to get a ticket to meet Brian K. Vaughan. I just looked up his whearabouts on Twitter and bumped into him an an afterparty later. He's a gin-drinker. Swell dude. :) It was a similar deal with Roc Upchurch.
It also just makes it easy to reach out to companies or celebrities. Emails? Peh, but I can spare a minute to read 140 characters. Twitter is like a 24-hour Reddit AMA for anyone who has an account.

I don't use Twitter or pay much attention to it. I signed up for Twitter long ago (a few years), but it was to keep up with Akino Arai. Of course all the tweets were in Japanese, so I kept up with it for a while.
I never used it myself. I don't even remember my login and password. Other than the little bit of time I used it years ago, I never really got the fascination of it. Same with tumblr.
If you guys made a Facebook thread, though, I'd post in it. That's the only "social media" thing I actually use, but I'll get into the story of why I even bothered with it in the first place. lol

Don't see the point of having Twitter if you already have Facebook. Are they any different?

That's kind of my position. Most of the wrestlers I know have both and insist it's "better", but all I see is they have it linked so anything they put on twitter goes to their FB too. I don't see the point. Plus, my FB feed is already always jammed with a bunch of mundane stuff I'll never have time to look at, I couldn't imagine having twitter and having a constant flood of "updates" from people you follow or whatever. It just seems like so much overload. Like, seriously, if I really want to know what The Iron Sheik thought about The World Series - and believe me, I SO want to know - I can just go find that information on my own. I don't need it sent to me directly. Just too much information overload.
Plus, I think the character limit makes it pointless anyway. The last important thing anyone ever said that could be summed up in that few words was, "The British Are Coming".
Twitter, to me, just seems like it was made entirely for people who never, ever take a hand off of their cell phone. And those people shouldn't be encouraged.

I think the only benefit of having both is that you reach more people that way. But if you're not in it for reaching people [ie, not using social media for any kind of marketing] there isn't much of a reason to use Twitter over Facebook, unless you just don't want your parents/family/whatever seeing or finding your posts. Also Twitter does have a younger-leaning userbase.

Yeah, like, I'm not gonna send updates/invites to EVERY person on my Friends list just because I have a show coming up. Y'ever get that? Like, people halfway across the country sending you Invites for an event it's entirely impossible for you to attend? Like, it's neat you can let a ton of people at once know what you've got coming up, but if most of those people are either disinterested or unable to participate, just seems kind of obnoxious, y'know?
Most people I'd be trying to "reach" either already bought tickets, or can't. ((Shrug))

I always thought that was weird too. If it's across the country, I definitely can't attend so why invite me? Guess it's the thought that counts..?
I dunno which social networking is considered more popular tho, FB or Twitter. I seem to know more people who use FB, but still, not sure.
