Do you feel that having ghosts, demons, vampires and other monsters being connected to mutagen takes away the sense of wonder or can the sense of wonder can get even stronger if the magic gets explained?

I think that as long it's not treated as hand wave but instead as a concept to explore, it could bring a whole new dimension.

Like for example, in ancient times, natural events were explain as acts of the gods so maybe there are myths and legends of certain creatures of what we think are true but are misrepresent of actual fact and are sometimes a small part of a bigger picture.

Or use it as a gateway to explain the biology of said creatures and opens a category of mutants like type A for anthropomorphic mutants that mutated under the conditions of Multicellular organism that made recent contact with human dna. And type B for non organic base mutants like ICK or terminator roach.

I don't think everything's connected to mutagen. There is clearly a supernatural element that exists independent to the mutagen and only a few things might actually be connected to it (a couple monsters.) There is also a lot of it that might still simply be just folktales made up by people or diseases that looked like they had a supernatural origin (hypertrichosis or 'werewolf syndrome' provided the hairy people for werewolf tales, and porphyria likely accounts for vampires.)

I'd actually never want mutagen to become the connection for everything, as it removes a lot of the mystery to any possibility and makes everything feel too mundane and boring. Knowing that the creature you encounter really is what it is and not some glorified mutant, makes that encounter a lot more interesting.

Know what I mean dude? ;)

It's TMNT..... so kinda, sorta, yeah.... I mean it's where the main characters came from to begin with.

I don't feel that it really needs to be connected to things like ghosts, but for a lot of it it's fine imo, it works as a reason and explanation of "why" some things might have occurred and keeps it grounded a bit more than just becoming a total fantasy world. (Excluding that forced mutation works the way it does there of course. lol)

Someone made a guess that the speed demon car is connected to curse tokens or something?

What if the "curse" tokens is really some kind of alien tech that has the power to influence rather then changing the dna like what mutagen does. Or maybe the token could be this universe versions of mutastone which connects us to the neutrinos?

Didn't the car get hit with mutagen in the latest episode?

Not gonna lie here, I do hate that most things come back to the mutagen.

What's wrong with a little diversity in origins? Why couldn't Rat King be mystical? Why did Baxter have to become a mutant when a cyborg would make the Foot more diverse? And did Karai REALLY have to mutate?

I'm happy when things like Ho Chan and Bigfoot have nothing to do with mutagen, but the show still dips into the mutagen well too much. Now a car will mutate, A FRICKIN' CAR!!! C'mon, new aliens, demons, magic, human experimentation, time travel, whatever! There are many possibilities, don't overuse one explaination, especially one that's inconsistent.

And the Kraathatrogons were dumb, it was nothing but a Dune/Bioshock joke and added nothing of importance, if anything it just opened a can of worms.

Yeah but I was trying to use it as a example by saying how a magic token could be explaining as alien technology.

I feel there needs to be some kind mutant book that explain how mutagen works and different varieties of mutant or different states of mutations.
You know like they did for Harry Potter

Since Donatello was studying the mutagen, it would make sense to make him author of the book and inside there can be scribble side comments and doodles by Mikey along with notes of past mutants that written in scientific detail about their physiologies. I would buy that.

That car looked kind of like the evil sort already. lol Maybe it's already possessed by something and the mutagen simply made it worse. Like gave some evil force more power over it, and/or whoever...*cough* Donnie.

If it's like one of those cool hardback collectable sort of books (like the Dragonology book I have), done in a style by Donnie, as if some kind field guide, I would SO buy that.

1. If rat king was mystical it would he stupid and make no sense .
2. Baxter being a incredibly cool this Is the only good version of him as a fly
3. Karais mutation shows that shredders capable of emotion according to Ciro her mutation will be meaningful
4. When characters like po chan appear there origin isn't explained or it makes no sense

Yeah it would be one of the coolest things but the nick executives would never go for it. "Kids reading books for fun? Ridiculous!:x"

Rat King was mystical way back in the comics, and why would it be nonsensical?

Maybe Baxter-fly is better than other Baxter-Flies but there are already too many mutants in the show.

Karai's mutation was justified, but that does not make the mutations any less overused and it could have easily been some other horrible thing that happened to her (blinding or paralysis for example).

At least Ho Chan is something different, an explaination would be nice but it's nice to have something different.

Yeah, why didn't the road mutate if the car could? Why not the glass container? Or the all the buildings it has touched? And why did plant life only get affected that one time?

Seriously though, the mutagen really does seem to do whatever the hell it wants to in this continuity, rhyme and reason be damned.
Yeah but a car mutating is going too far, it would have been far better if it was a technological or mystical explaination because cars are not living beings.

The mutagen is really unstable. Maybe it was a bad batch that could mutate machines.

the only reason the topsoil was affected and made creep was cause trace amounts of leos dna was mixed in w/ the mutagen

as far as the mutagen goes w/ the demon car, no idea if there really is a demon involved or not but hope there is, aside from that, best I can figure is that the mutagen got splashed up into the engine and other parts and while don is inside the car, unknowlingly touches 1 of those affected parts and is unable to let go of it

Sure, whatever... It has never been shown to alter metal or other dead materia before, but why care anymore?

I'm not sure we even know where this particular mutagen came from though, do we? Mom-thing just kind of... had some... and went and dumped it. Was it from Donnie's stash, or some older concoction that was in the ship in the basement?

If it was not from what Donnie had on hand, then who knows if or in what way the make up of this batch could have differed. These frogs became humanoid without the human contact after all.

Not saying it should be acceptable that it somehow also included 'magic' properties to enliven inanimate objects if the Kraang were working on humans, but... I dunno. Tv magic I guess.

Perhaps the car simply has an evil owner that merges with the car, like the roach did with the tech stuff, and can somehow cause something to happen to it's victims.

The car ran over the mutagen, so it makes sense it would mutate, and if the owner is inside it, that would make sense, too. Perhaps the owner is evil and is able to possess Donnie as he merges with the car. We'll just have to wait and see how it plays out.

I just thought of something that can be connect to mutagen but it's more of a concept then a hand wave.

What if the kappa were a race that descended from mutant turtles but had change over million of years due to evolution? Like they're not really turtles anymore. They're in a entirely different category.

However due to the fact that it's splicing (if it holds water on how ooze mutations works) then the offspring doesn't get to inherited the mutant genes are they often born as regular turtles which is why they steal children.
