How is "Vengeance is Mine" not winning??

Easily Vengeance is Mine. Fungus suffers the 'we already did this before, but let's do it again at a different angle' syndrome by focusing on Leo doubting his leadership. Also all the fears were sort of a let down and very basic, so the whole premise of the episode was put to waste. Something I hope Dream Beavers will fix this week.

Meanwhile, Vengeance is mine starts out ahead already by simply being not filler and advancing the plot. There's action as soon as it starts out, we get plenty of Karai being badass, the Turtles being badass, Tigerclaw being badass. We get heartwarming scenes between Karai and Splinter as well as being able to see her interact more with the Turtles on a peaceful note. Finally, it climaxes with the show's biggest twist so far (probably only trumped by the Irma reveal in the finale) and we're introduced to the first female mutant on the show. Pretty cool.

Flaws? Eh. Shredder's plan at the end was stupid and of course just a quick way to get Karai mutated. People may complain about Karai's mutation, but I'm waiting until season 3 picks up the pace to be judgmental on that subject.

Overall, the winner is obvious.

I'm baffled as well... Vengence is Mine got my vote at least.

Fungus Humungous could have been an alright episode if the turtles' fears were more serious and not so... silly. Leo and April are okay and the best portrayed. Leo's afraid of loosing his family and failing as a leader which makes him seem as the deepest character in that episode and April's fear is understandable as well, considering what happened to her father.
Raph and Casey... They aren't that bad but basically their fears were portrayed somewhat boring. We got hordes of rats and cockroaches... And that's it.
Mikey... Let's just say that came off as pretty random, in the respective episode he didn't seem to be more terrified by the Squirrelanoids than the others. I would have loved if they made his low self-esteem and not being taken seriously his worst fear, like being rejected by his brothers for being such an airhead from time to time.
And Donnie... I don't even want to think about it...

Vengence is Mine is simply brillant. We got an awesome rescue mission, great fighting scenes and Splinter with his sons against Shredder. The short time Karai spent with the turtles and her father was really sweet and gave me such a cuddly feeling. :anime:
And then, of course, her mutation... I admit I'm one of those weird fans who really love her mutated form, I just adore snakes. :tlove: And I have no problems with various mutants appearing, I actually like that.
Granted, the heads on her arms are kinda weird but I got used to it by now.
Of course the feels in that episode... Just damn. Must be one the best episodes in that regard so far. You have no heart if you didn't feel sorry for Splinter.
And we got backstory on Shredder! That's something I'm really missing in that show, the lack of backgrounds on many characters. :tgrumble:

Well if you think about it, if she had just claw like hands and arms would have made it difficult to slither around and snake tongues are use to capture scent particles in the air to gather information which gives her reason to stand up when observing someone.

I honestly have no idea how people can vote for Fungus in this match up.

Well, I guess if you really, really hate Karai's mutation with a passion you might want to stick with the mushrooms. :tneutral:

I've warmed up to it. At first I hated the idea, but then I thought about how cool it could be or how it could affect Splinter if she would lose her mind.

I honestly don't like Vengence Is Mine that much, despite continuing the story. The episode feels like a rehash of The Wrath of Tigerclaw. I forget what happens in which and had to go rewatch it. Lots of action with Tigerclaw in the beginning, Karai in the lair, talking with Splinter and learning the truth, big fight with the Tigerclaw/Foot, and Karai getting kidnapped/mutated. They take a step forward with Karai coming to the turtle's side, then take 2 steps back kicking her out of the action. Karai went from badass to damsel in distress. She breaks out of cell only to get caught by Tigerclaw. She gets snatched out of the Shellraiser by Tigerclaw and nearly gets run over when he effortlessly fights her and tosses her overboard. Then like a total dumbass, she runs off alone to fight Shredder, and surprise surprise, she fails and gets recaptured. Ughh. It kills my enjoyment.

Fungus Humungous is one of my favs. I don't care that it's filler. I don't care if the idea is unoriginal. I just love how it's presented. I love all the different visuals showing the fears for each character, and seeing them breakdown. The strange mushroom cave location, the music, Leo's fight against the giant mushroom at the end. :D

Buuuut, I do put Vengence Is Mine as the better episode. The team pulls off the plan to free Karai from the Foot without a hitch, playing to everyone's strengths. Leo and Raph sneaking in where the heavy guard is, Mikey distracting, and Donnie providing tech support (and successfully hindering Tigerclaw while the three strongest fighters couldn't do it together. :D). Seeing Splinter and Karai reunite and hug for real was touching. The scene with them training and Karai watching in the Dojo was great. There's more backstory add for the Shredder. Karai getting mutated was a cool twist (I have no problem with it. I like snakes. It mirrors Splinter/Shredder losing Tang Shen. Plus, having an iconic character lose her mind like that? Bold move.) And those sad feels for Splinter losing his daughter again.

Vengenance Is Mine is the best character development episode this season (excluding The Invasion). Fungus Humongus had the turtles on drugs basically

Voted for Vengeance Is Mine, it is the only episode so far that brought tears to my eyes, during the scene of Splinter's sorrow look at the newly-mutated Karai while holding her in his arms, and cried "My child..." :tcry:

I already expected Karai to be mutated before the episode aired (I believed that email from Playmates), so there's no surprise for me. But that scene was done so well, so emotional, I did not expect it to be so sad. Previously I thought Timothy's mutation was saddening, this is 10 times more. The impact is just so strong on me, I still feel sad every time I rewatch that scene or think about it.

I liked Vengeance is Mine, but I had to vote for Fungus Humongous because it's another Leo centered episode and a very good one. I think what made it for me was the Dance of the Sugarplum Fairies music and the look on Leo's face as he's watching the mushrooms dance. Just loved it.

Difficult choice. But I voted "vengeance is mine" this episode is full of emotions, shredder shows us who loved Karai and the ep opened a new plot with Karai snake.Fungus was funny and visually stunning

I do like Fungus Humungous; one of the better filler episodes, for sure. But the degree of emotion and plot progression in Vengeance puts that episode miles ahead.
