Rogues gallery

In the Mirage comics, we have Shredder, Baxter Stockman, Rat King, and (depending on your viewing) Leatherhead. Do you feel that without villains outside the comics that the turtles rogues gallery is lacking? Do you also feel that the turtles even need a rogues gallery in the comics since other comic book heroes have some? It's never even bothered me since the turtles are ninjas, not superheroes. But it is something that came up in my mind.

A side question, has any other comic book franchise brought in a character that originated in another adaption and brought into the comics like Harley Quinn from Batman?

Outside the comics? The Turtles have much better villains in the cartoons and Archie and IDW comics than they do in Mirage.

Mirage villains are often killed off in their first appearance (Shredder, The Rat King), appear only a few times (like Baxter), or instantly become good (like Karai).

The only real recurring villain in Mirage was Savanti Romero.

Every hero needs a villain. One of the two reasons I never got into the black and white comics was the villains we saw in other media were not present in the comics and the few that were never showed up three or less times. Bringing in Krang, Slash, Null, Tragg and the rock soldiers, Bebop, and Rocksteady along with new villains in Koya and anti-hero Hob. TMNT has some of the most intriguing villains and bringing them into the comics and appearing semi-regularly its a good part of what makes NInja TUrtles such fun and interesting to me.

I think I prefer the turtles going from crazy scenario to crazy scenario rather than "this time they will fight this and then that and then back to this guy".

It can get a little boring with a rogues gallery to be honest, knowing that let's say Spider-Man will always be fighting Green Goblin, Dr Octopus and Venom over and over again, and that any new villains will rarely ever pop up and barely be used after their introduction. Now if Spider-Man was primarily fighting new bad guys that might not create the same level of familarity and I'm thankful that his rogues gallery is big enough for it not to get too boring, but it does risk feeling a little repetative whenever it's one of the big bads.

Of a large rogues gallery is better than having Shredder and Krang be the villains who get defeated at the end of every episode, but in my opinion it's the best solutions to either have a long ongoing storyline with a big bad or an episodic series with a new villain almost every time. Decide on wheter or not it should feel tight or fresh with your villains I'd say...

General Zod from Superman II (1980) was an original character that the comics adapted. Another lesser villain Livewire from Superman: The Animated Series debuted in the comics after appearing in the show.

Renee Montoya was created for Batman:The Animated Series before the comics adapted her into its own thing.

Firestar was an original character in Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends and later adapted into the comics though only on a small scale. The same for the Wonder Twins who appeared in a few issues of JL: Task Force during the Justice League International era and in the Superfriends comic that was inspired by the cartoon.

There are a few other examples than those that I listed above. Its more than you think.
