Bring back irma!

As you can tell from the username i'm a huge fan of the 2012 show Irma- and was considering some sort of petition or informal campaign to get her returned to the show (naturally i was gutted about what transpired in the Invasion) I wanted to gauge how people feel about the character in fandom generally to see if i'm in the minority or not.

Irma is just so cool, stylish and gorgeous and added a different perspective to the show. She was a really cute damsel in distress in the Rat King episode- her fainting was adorable- poor thing!

I feel like it would be sooooo easy to write in a "real" Irma back in the show. Also my theory is that either she was "switched" with the Krang recently in the show and was real in earlier episodes or she was a "sleeper agent" who really thought she was Irma (and had her personality) and was unaware of being a Krang until the trigger phrase/sight of turtles.

Tell me what you think- and i'd love to hear any other Irma thoughts in general! :)

I thought she was okay, but she didn't show up enough for me to really gauge whether I really liked her or not. If she comes back, then cool. If not, then that's that.

She's ok. I wasn't all that fond of her personalty in this version, but I had hopes that would improve once she would finally be in on the secret and met the Turtles. That is of course until that concept blew up in everyone's faces. But agree with the theory that she might have been switched. Maybe she is where ever April's mom is and both will be found.

She has presence and it was nice to have someone who was normal against the backdrop of aliens and mutants but she hardly had any screen time. If there were scenes of Irma interacting with April as her best friend then I would've been furious but that didn't happen so I was unfazed when she wasn't real.

To be honest I was pretty bumped by the reveal. I did kinda like her, her appearance was interesting and I was really excited for the moment she'd meet the turtles... Well, we all know how this turned out... I'm hoping she'll return and that there's a real Irma somewhere, but we might never know.

Do you guy remember Irma's first cameo? It happened like four episodes before the Kraang discovered where April studies. And they couldn't even made the robot lady act like an human; Irma was too much sassy!! I think the Kraang captured her, made a copy of her brain waves or something so her copy could be perfect.

Meh. I really don't see what they could do to keep her from being an extraneous character. Somebody tell me something Irma can add to the plot. Even if they made her a mutant, we already have the storyline with Karai. Unless someone offers a good way to work Irma into the story, I'd prefer she stay where she is.

I liked the character and if I hadn't learned of the character, I would have never started watching this show. ^^. I found her interesting, didn't favor her or anything, but was highly curious about her.

Anyway, I'll quote myself.Personally, I feel hints show that she was possibly replaced, and the strongest hint towards this is the phone call in the Mousers ep.

The Kraang were kidnapping scientists in general. They didn't know that April was the one they needed until after she sent in her DNA for her Biology class. April was friends with Irma prior to this, if the Mousers ep is any indication.

If Irma was made for the sole purpose of spying on April, seems their friendship would've been established after the first TCRI ep, not before it.

I still have this feeling Irma was switched sometime after the second Rat King ep since after that point she started asking about April's secret friends. Also, if the Kraang can do that, why not kidnap April, replace her, and perfect their mutagen sooner? They could've easily lured her with Irma.This is why I kept theorizing on Irma being real. They could've gotten April way earlier if they had that kind of technology the whole time. The Kraang weren't working with Shredder yet, either when she first had that cameo and we learned that the two were friends.

She could've lured April super easily to the Kraang, they could've made a Kraangbot April, use there Kraangbot April to lure out the turtles, use the real April to perfect their mutagen, take over NY and the world, etc. Too many missed opportunities there.

Until it's fully confirmed or someone says so, I still have this feeling Irma is real, was switched out sometime after Of Rats and Men or maybe even after A Chinatown Ghost Story, and that the technology for such a perfect disguise was still new.

The execution of the "Irma" project didn't make a ton of sense, but I'm cool with the end result. April was being played from the beginning, and Irma was the greatest ruse ever concocted by the Kraang. I won't lose a bit of sleep if she's never mentioned again.

I know you're not asking me, but to me I think Irma added to the show, in that she expanded the Nick TMNT world. She was another character who had potential, and she made things more interesting. There was that element of whether or not she would meet the turtles or what she would eventually do. In addition to that, she was a new version of a character that I like from the original cartoon. She also added to April's life. Instead of it just being April, Casey, and the turtles. It presented a whole new side to April's story. It also made April more of a regular human character, in that she had a friend who was female from high school. Not that everyone must have friends, but it added more to the show.

Basically anytime you have a recurring character in any cartoon, then abruptly write them out of the show and ruin the character at the same time, that's a problem.

In all honesty, I have no problem with Irma being in disguise as an advanced Kraangbot...I have a problem with the claim that she was in disguise the entire time because of the stuff I mentioned on the first page. Furthermore, they primarily eat pizza, not sandwiches, so their need to have chicks hanging out at the lair is diminished even more. And should one of them actually require a sandwich, they already have April. SO, all the basic Female Requirements are duly covered.

Seeing as how characters like Irma, Vernon, etc. are some of my least favorite characters in the franchise as whole, I hope she never comes back. Otherwise, it would defeat the whole purpose of her actually being a fake disguise for Kraang Subprime, plot holes aside, which I thought was hilarious.

I know my eccentricities appear negative to some people- and i just hope they don't reflect badly on other Irma fans or distract from the issue of wanting her back in the show!

Ok- let me explain, it's quite simple really.

Many scientists believe there is an infinite amount of parallel universes- therefore it is inevitable that at least one matches up with TMNT (2012) and that Irma is there.

I believe i have some limited aptitude for "channeling" from other parallel universes- hence my relationship with Irma. However my main communication with her is via the show.

Therefore - it is important she return - i obviously can not literally enter the screen and save her from Krang but via campaigning for her to return I can effect my girl's fate in a positive way :)

Everyone has different beliefs about the world and what is and is not real- i don't want to pressure anyone to accept mine. I just ask for politeness and empathy- whatever we may or may not believe.

I even find that hard to believe. Asami and Korra I can see as being friends base on their scenes together but Irma and April? April gives a impression that she was stuck with Irma because there was no one else at school that she could hang out with and she using her as a buffer against Casey or some kind of secret test to see how much he wants her.

While I'm not against talking in other topics- i came here with a specific purpose to gauge reaction to Irma returning to the show and maybe gain some momentum or ideas for promoting it.

I loved the Turtles as a kid but tbh i hadn't thought about the franchise for years till i was randomly channel hopping and came across "Of Rats and Men" - I fell in love with Irma always immediately.

Saving my girl seems more important than getting a negative rep here one way or another- gosh knows she's plenty tough and capable but she isn't use to the far-out elements of the Turtleverse as her swooning while in the Rat Kings clutches bares testament - I really worry how the poor thing is coping in captivity with Krang.

That seems like a good idea. I would like to know what she thinks about her character being written out of the show and a possible return due to fan demand.

I was thinking about something today. In anime we have a lot of different characters, and many of them are female. Sometimes they are background characters, but they are always there, a part of that show's family. It would be like if Bulma (or maybe Launch would be a better choice since she has less screen time) in DB/DBZ/DBGT suddenly turned out to be a robot and started attacking Kame House. It would be a major what the heck moment.

However, TMNT is kind of a creature feature show. We have many mutants and aliens. So maybe having background characters like an anime doesn't apply to Nick's version of TMNT. Humor certainly seems to be a big part. It is an action cartoon, but there is a lot of humor too. So maybe we are expecting too much to have Irma in this show. Maybe the kind of stories that the writers are telling don't really have room for background characters. If you think about it, our circle of characters is kind of small. We have the turtles, Splinter, April, and Casey. I don't know, just some ideas I have and some thoughts, but I still would like to see Irma return. The writers should try to please the fans, and they are on many levels.

Maybe we could have a restoring the city episode, where Kirby is back to being a human and all the others mutated during the Kraang invasion, and they do a prison break and find Irma.

Yep, Kate Micucci played Irma in the show. I don't think she's bothered by it to be honest. Look at the show Pretty Little Liars and how many people get killed off on there. The actors don't seem to mind, and you're never truly dead as there's always flashbacks. Maybe if Irma is really out there, then she'll come back. And if not, then that's that.

Well she communicated a strong sense of loneliness and being under-appreciated by those around her during her scenes in the show and that sort of called out to me- it's hard to explain in a concrete way but i feel a connection when i tried to communicate to that and like the "real" Irma was sort of winking at me from the other dimension via her portrayal in the show

To Irma person: on a serious note, I can think of many ideas about multiple realities, but you could always just write fan stories. Well there's no shortage of POTENTIAL ideas, but this show doesn't seem like they're in any hurry to hit those. There's been more and more filler as the seasons go by, which is what I mean by "running out of ideas" (or, just padding things out so they don't use all their "good" ideas up too fast). To that end, we'll more than likely see them do something with Irma eventually, if for no other reason than she was on the old show so much. It's basically a ready-made story that doesn't require a lot of thought or effort on their end.

Eh, so many have no room to judge anymore though, most everyone's got their thing these days. And those that don't must be pretty boring people.

If anyone assumes I want to emulate the Turtles, so be it. They have some good qualities worth being inspired by and in some of those ways they might be right.

Definitely some zombie geeks in my household, who enjoy that fantasy of fighting zombies in some apocalyptic future and some of their weapon interest (guns of course... sister also has bow and arrow, crossbow) over the past number of years has, for fun, included the zombie thing.... they've got noooo room to talk, none at all.

Where as for me, I've considered martial arts, might give it a go, but haven't yet. Have always loved bladed weapons, but don't own much yet and no swords. A pretty katana would be amazing to have, but in my mind I view that as something to earn the right to allow myself own if I've learned how to handle such a thing properly first. If that makes me out to be wanting to be like them, so be it.

No, no, that's definitely how "normal" people look at people who self-identify as "TMNT Fans". It's not as funny when you realize you're the one being mocked. Makes you wonder why the show "went there". But then, for some reason, a LOT of modern TMNT media seems to be aimed at taking the piss out of its own audience, and I think some people just aren't perceptive to the fact they're being "worked". It's called "ribbing on the square", when you make fun of someone right to their face, but you do it in a way that's kind of clever and it goes right over their heads, and if you do it right you can make them think you're even being complimentary.

And of course nobody is ever going to walk up to a grown person and tease them out loud for wearing a TMNT shirt, nor would they for wearing a Mario or Avengers or CM Punk shirt. I still say there's a real Irma someplace. It just wouldn't make sense for there not to be one. I mean, the Kraang were using Kraangbot Irma to trick April and lure out the turtles. If she was there for the sole purpose of bringing April and the turtles to them, then it could've happened way sooner. Also, it was established that Irma was friends with April prior to the Kraang finding out that April was the one they were looking for all along. Irma couldv'e so easily lured April and delivered her to the Kraang earlier, used Gilbert Godkraang in an Aprilkraangbot suit, trick the turtles out that way, capture them, the end. Why not do that?

So yeah, I seriously hope that there is a real Irma, only because not having one wouldn't make sense at all.

'12 Irma was not developed for obvious reasons if you've seen up to season 3. That said, her character remains flat. Irma's was just sorta there in season 1. Not trying to bash your favorite character here. I just didn't see anything in her character that set her apart from other minor characters...besides the obvious season 3 thing.

The Kraang aren't the most creative of races: Once they find a form they like, they seem to stick with it and utilize it past the point of redundancy. For as long as they've been on Earth, they've never tried making their Kraang-droids unique to the personality of each Kraang (perhaps with the exception of Kraang Sub-Prime). The droids disguised as male humans all look the same, I believe there are multiple copies of the woman who was pretending to be from the genetics lab (her name is escaping me), all the butt-beasts look exactly the same... I think they just make copies of every human/creature disguise for purposes of simplicity, and Irma-droids are likely no different.

They're the Kraang so they could have easily gotten into the computer system and altered the timetable so that she didn't need to go to Gym. No one would notice. To answer playing soccer at breaks, she could just say that she doesn't like sport. Maybe they could play soccer in their Kraang suits anyway? I've never played soccer during breaks. She wouldn't have to go to the school nurse if there was nothing wrong with her (my school didn't have a school nurse anyway). I've also never collided with someone in high school because I'm not a child running around the school yard.

I really think that people need to let the Irma thing go. I don't care if she shows up again or not. If she does, she does but continuing to talk about it isn't going to change anything. All Irma fans can do is wait and hope. In my opinion, she didn't add much to the show, except for being the butt of Casey's jokes and acting as the third wheel preventing them from becoming closer. I'm fed up with the Irma thing at this point to be honest :trolleye:.

I, for one, feel perfectly able to compartmentalize continual whining about wanting there to be a real Irma; letting the writers know I think they made a terrible choice, without it ruining my enjoyment of the series. Then again, that implies I had much enjoyment left to ruin, which I now have less and less.

Irma was not exactly an interesting character; nor is one person turning out to be a Kraang spy that damning. But it starts to feel a lot more irritating when what seems like almost every human character has some twist coming against their humanity. Whether or not you liked that twist, you can't deny it was a twist, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who fully expected that April's mom wouldn't be real, either, when that episode aired so shortly after Kraang Subprime was revealed. Between actually being Kraang and destined for mutation, actual human characters in this show, with no relation to the Turtles, have a short life. I understand cheap CGI doesn't avail itself to constant worldbuilding as much as other media might, but that doesn't mean it should waste what few chances it has had.
