If they had hired Rob to voice Raphael again for this show, do you think his Throttle voice from Biker Mice From Mars would have worked?

I'm not sure what that is....XD

but I can't really imagine Rob voicing Raph...I didn't really like him as Raph in the 80's version actually (don't jump me!!)

I can't imagine anyone else besides Sean Astin doing 2012 Raph, I kind of really like Paulsen as Donatello, I personally think they got the casting just right.

Wasn't ever too familiar with that show other than the title, got a video example of the character?

Agree TMNT 2012 was voice cast very well though (albeit despite poor Leo's voice issues), I really like Sean Astin's version of Raph.

Rob is great as Donatello. Someone mentioned in Behind the Voice Actors that Rob could have used a voice he did from an old cartoon show called Biker Mice from Mars for Raphael. I sampled some of his characters clips but I wanted to know if that voice tone would or wouldn't be to ridiculous for Raph's voice.

I think they made the right call casting Rob Paulson as Donatello and Sean Astin as Raphael. Both actors add something different to this version of these characters. I wouldn't change a thing. (Also, kind of missing Jason Biggs)

His Donnie voice in this show is a lot different than his 80's Raph voice.

Honestly if you were to just listen to sound clips of 80's Raph and Nick Donnie speaking with no context, everyone would easily be able to figure out who is who.

Throttle is the golden brown mouse.
I suppose it could work, although I don't find it quite as distinct as what Raph was cast with.

I like the way Raph's actor plays it up for him, in comparison to, say, the tone given in Disney Junior's "Special Agent Oso." (Which sounds like Raph in an unnaturally really good mood and makes me laugh.)

I think Rob as Donnie suits him better and like Sean's take on Raph in this version.

Sean's Raph is just so....natural. I love Rob Paulsen (as you are all well aware) but if he did Throttle for Raph in this series, it'd seem forced, IMO. Donnie just seems to be natural for him as well.

I feel like we've tossed around this "what if" question before, and yea I can't help but wonder how Rob would sound as the current incarnation of Raph. The thing is, I think it's pretty cool they gave him a different turtle this time around.

As long as he didn't sound like a 40 year old man from brooklyn, I wouldn't have cared who voiced Raph. Sean is a great fit and his is the voice that pops in my head when I read IDW.

When I read a comic no matter if its Archie, IDW, or Mirage I hear Rob's voice. Rob IS Raphael for me as a 90's kid who loved Raphael because of what Rob brought to Raphael. It makes it difficult for him voicing another turtle because its his voice and his voice was Raphael. Just knowing Rob was voicing him would be great even if he did alter his voice for another turtle.

Agreed. If the voices were the other way around it just wouldn't be right. I don't want any of the character's voices to leave they fit perfectly. I really hope they just stop at Leo.

As much as I love Rob and 1987 Raph, I just can't see him playing 2012 Raph. Just picturing his voice coming out of Raph's mouth seem wrong and out of place. Sean pulls him off perfectly. Out of all the characters, Donatello was definitely the best choice for Rob. Both in voice and character personality since Donnie tends to have a snarky sarcastic attitude at times that parallels that of 87 Raph.

I like the change from Rob voicing Raph in the OT, to now voicing a diff turtle, Donny, in the 2k12 series. Somehow it works! He's got a diff personality to Donny, and I like it! Tho I'll admit, would have been cool if he reprized his role for Raph. Just not sure the "jokester" Raph is what they were looking for in 2k12 (probably not, which is why I'm guessing they had Rob voice someone else). Also I agree with missing Jason Biggs. Nothing against Seth Green, love that dude, great actor/voice actor, love him in all his other stuff. But here, he sounds like a dying horse. Sounds nothing like Biggs, which is a lack of continuality (as most voice actor replacements, temporary or long-term), try to sound as much like the original VA as possible). Tho I did find it funny how in the first episode of season 3 they pass if off as "he's healing" and "his voice got damaged". Only my opinion tho, so don't shoot me.

I think they nailed it as-is. They needed a different type of voice for this Raph. Rob can do a youthful voice, but the result is what he does for Donnie, so I think they made the right choice in the tone Astin has.

The way that Seth Green voice Leo feels a little different then Jason Biggs's Leo so it would be same for Rob if he had voiced Raphael and by that I mean Raph's personality would have to change to suit the voice.

I think if Rob had voiced Raph, he would made him sound more aloof and cocky. Kind like Hyde from that 70's Show.
TLWhbwliP90

This been a different side to him as oppose to him being the usual snarky and bitter self .

Although I still like Sean Astin's because not only does his sound more natural but his voice has a balance between cocky and cynical.

I almost want hear an Michelangelo from Neil Patrick Harris but only he use his normal voice because it would sound so different from all of the others ones. It would be like what Rob Paulsen did for Donatello.

As some of you have said, Rob fits Donatello more than he does Raphael. His Throttle voice would indeed sound forced upon the character. There was just a debate among fans who thought he should of voiced Raphael but because the version Raph voiced was radically different, I was curious when someone said that he could have used a past character's voice on Raph.

At least we now know what turtle Rob probably would have voiced if they hadn't changed Raphael in the 87 series.
