What do you think the time frame is going to be until the sequel comes out on June 3rd 2016.

This is my prediction.

In Janurary/Feburary they will be looking for new actors for any new parts for the sequel.
In March/April we will get the official title for the movie.
In May/June they will start filming.
In July/August filming will be finished.
In November/December we get the first teaser trailer and a poster.
In Feburary/March we will get the official trailer.
In April/May the marketing and promotion will start and maybe another trailer for the movie.
June 3rd the movie opens

I doubt we'll see the actual title that soon, a working title maybe, assuming they'd even let that out. They seemed pretty tight lipped over a lot on the first one for so long.

I'm not holding my breath that that date will stay the same either.

Now that Bay seems to have lost his edge in the public eye for ruining the Ninja Turtles, I'd say there won't likely be a sequel.

We probably won't get a sequel, thankfully.

If there is a sequel, count on Arnett not coming back.

Sadly Megan probably will, because this is her new nerd franchise since she effed up on Transformers.

Anyway, if the sequel doesn't get pushed back or moved around a bunch, which I'm sure it will, then that'll probably be the schedule.

Count on less marketing this time around. Don't gotta try even that little when people will watch it no matter what.

On the topic of predictions...

- Yeah there's no way Arnett is brought back, unless its for a tiny cameo. There'll be no use for him anymore once Casey Jones enters.

- I predict Liam Hemsworth will be cast as Casey. I have no reason for this prediction other than the fact he wore a Ninja Turtles onesie on his icebucket challenge video & I bet someone at Paramount noticed (my personal choice would be Aaron Paul).

- Ploszek won't be dubbed over by Knoxville again. It'll probably be like the Doug Jones situation in 'Hellboy'. He was dubbed over by David Hyde Pierce in the original & then allowed to use his own voice in the sequel.

- Can't see Danny Woodburn returning unless they let him use his own voice (unlike Ploszek, he threatened legal action a while back).

- Megan Fox is pretty much guaranteed to be back.

- If Liebesman doesn't return, his director-twin Marcus Nispel will probably get the offer.

I predict Shia Labeouf will be cast as Casey, and the internet will explode with rage.

I base this prediction upon the studio wanting to draw in more of the Bayformers crowd (and thereby, the Bayformers dollar) with the tried & tested Fox/Labeouf combo. And the fact that Bay is, well... Bay. (I'd say he's the harbinger of the apocalypse, but I'd probably be accused of sounding hysterical. :twink:)

Glad I've never been too personally invested in Casey, so if that happens I'll just grab the popcorn and watch the drama. Unless of course like Fox he gets too much screen over the Turtles - then get out of my way, I have an opinion to state.

LaBeouf has spent the last 3 years desperately trying to reinvent himself as a crazy & unpredictable Joaquin Phoenix-like method actor. The chances of him returning to a Bay production are pretty much zero.

From your lips to gods' ears, B-Man. I'm just a cynic - I don't trust Hollywood. :twink:

Too many years of seeing Bay saying he's never doing another Bayformers, only to do an abrupt 180 as soon as the studios wave another gajillion-dollar cheque at him. Too many years of Lucas's shenanigans. The sequel to 300. Son of the Mask. Not one, but two Sex and the City movies. I'm old and weary. I've seen too much chicanery.

Given that people behind all this seem to want to flip some of the foundational concepts on their head or pull entirely new ones out of their asses to fill the potholes (plot holes?) they jackhammered into long establish stories...

Casey will end up being a tough vigilante, [*flashy hands*] now with a secret identity: Vern Fenwick.

Mark my words, Arnette voiced Batman in the Lego movie, didn't he? There is a danger there in him possibly having a reasonable Casey voice. :P

People are merely speculating because even GOOD movies have early-announced sequels that either get long delays or never get made at all.

There's nothing wrong with it, just like there's nothing wrong with most people hoping we get a complete do-over in a few years by a team that actually knows what they're doing. We won't, but people are well within their rights to speculate. And hope against hope for something better.

Hells yeah. Bay could probably put in a super-comedic scene where Venus has to drive the Turtle van while the boys are fighting, and does a terrible job, as we all know Chinese people are bad drivers. And then the guys can introduce her to The American Way of Life, because coming from a country like China, she'd probably never have heard of pizza and would be utterly amazed. And Mikey can hump her leg. Look, I can be a writer too!

I kinda think this movie proved that the fans will continue to insist the Emperor is not naked.

It goes from 'wait and see, wait and see', to we already saw and it sucked but 'the sequel will be better wait and see, wait and see'. I mean, this movie's reception was mixed at best, that's provably true. But it made money. That's all anyone involved cares about, and it's not like Michael Bay or Platinum Dunes care about quality - they'll keep pumping out tripe so long as audiences keep paying for it. There's almost no chance the sequel will be cancelled as long as they're confident they'll make a profit. And I'm sure they are.

Great idea - the boys can go to China and meet the Bay version of Venus. :tlol:

I am all for this. The best thing that could happen to this franchise is that Bay & Co. make a movie that absolutely nobody could like or even defend. Whatever gets Paramount and Nick to burn this iteration of the movie franchise down quicker, the better.

There's gotta be someone behind the scenes who wants to reboot this thing already, right? Please? Just give 'em a reason.

Will Arnett also got his part cut in what looks like a heavy way also. Remember was supposed to Casey Jone's cousin and a reluctant but capable fighter.

There's photos of him in the lair during the raid and what looks like him engaging in some action at Sach's mountaintop retreat.

The fact that they cut out that he's Casey Jones' cousin might suggest he's no longer necessary to introduce Casey if that is their plan so one might hope he's gone.

That might sound harsh but as I've said before; there's no real issue having Vernon in a movie or having Will Arnett play him after all he really does look the part and I can imagine him playing Vernon as he was characterized in the cartoon he originated very well however the issue is with him being a main character. A cameo or a small role is fine but he was never a character that anyone cared about the fact that he took the place of Casey Jones make the whole thing even more baffling. Having both of them in the same Vern pretty redundant...then again next to the boomerang flinging robo-Shredder and steroid infused mutants might make Casey seem redundant also. You have to wonder (dread) what they plan to make Casey keep up in a fight.

Slim as it is it's my hope that the fact that it's "decent" and not the blockbuster Paramount originally hoped for might make them think twice about that. At very least order the same people to take a different approach which given the history of this movie they are capable of but admit that's a slim hope.

Michael Bay's still Paramount's golden boy, so I don't imagine they'll impose on him or his productions much. But I feel the shine's coming off that apple in the domestic market, so we'll see how things play out over time.

It's a shame. I know it's pipe-dream stuff, but if they looked to the Mirage comics and hired the right people, they could have a Dark Knight Trilogy quality-level franchise on their hands here. But as long as they solely focus on the cartoon absurdity and don't look any deeper, and keep underestimating the property's potential, they'll never tap that vein.

But the thing is.... it didn't even do the 80's cartoon right. Making April a reporter and slapping Vernon into it hardly qualifies as a live-action adaptation of the 80's cartoon.

IF they did focus on the cartoon absurdity and made a live-action version of the first 5 episodes.... that would have totally rocked.

pennydreadful
12-03-2014, 10:01 PM
Right on, Coola. The 80's cartoon can entertain me - the movie just bored the living bejesus out of me. I know that'll baffle some people but honestly - I was bored out of my mind watching this thing, because I didn't care about any of the characters or what was happening in their world.

Hence why I can't get as vitriolic about this thing as others do (though I do enjoy their snark ;) ). It was crappy enough to make me feel that I'd have to be drunk to sit through it again, and yet still not cool enough by far to be the worst thing I've ever seen, or even make me feel enough emotion to expend the emotional energy hating it with any level of passion.

Like Trick said - mediocre's really the best word to describe this sucker. I think what ticks people off the most is just the level of wasted potential here. There's little more infuriating than seeing a great idea poorly executed, and unfortunately, these were not the right people for the job.

You don't need to make the Turtles bigger, badder, more bulletproof - people already think they're cool. Audiences need a POV character, but they don't go to the movies to see April. The folks behind this really didn't understand what makes this whole thing work as a concept, and what we ended up with was a movie where everything that could be done wrong was done wrong, and the guys basically ended up guest-starring in their own movie.

Oh no, I was bored as hell about 45 minutes into the movie. Before that I was laughing at how awful it was. After that, it was a legitimate chore to get through. By the end, I was pissed off and had a headache.

Oh god no, of course it didn't. The OT was silly as hell, but it had a certain charm to it that the movie completely failed to capture. It's really not even a TMNT movie - it's Generic Michael Bay-Style Blockbuster #243 with a TMNT desktop theme. That's all Bay and Platinum Dunes do, unfortunately for any property they get their mitts on.

There's nothing wrong with silly. Silly's baked into the core of this property - that's the whole reason the comics worked, because they took a goofy concept and played it straight. You can do silly and serious, and balance the absurd stuff with actual stakes and emotional resonance. That's the sweet spot any good TMNT movie needs to hit. But, y'know... you need talented creators and actual vision for that. So. :tdead:

The OT was silly as hell, but it had a certain charm to it that the movie completely failed to capture. It's really not even a TMNT movie - it's Generic Michael Bay-Style Blockbuster #243 with a TMNT desktop theme. That's all Bay and Platinum Dunes do, unfortunately for any property they get their mitts on.

The movie look generic but I think it's not because of a "Michael Bay style" it's more a "Marvel style" to me. Marvel movies are very successful so they tried to make a Marvel movie disguised as a TMNT movie. It's basically a superhero movie which use the TMNT license like it was any Marvel license.
To me TMNT is an alternative to Marvel & DC heroes so it's a nonsense to turn them like basic superheroes (save the city, save the girl...)
They threw away the TMNT mythology (Oroku Saki, Hamato Yoshi...) and most of the japanese background, everything which bring some deepness and charm just to mimic the "already seen Marvel movie of the month".
I'm sure they don't care of TMNT. For the producers, TMNT or Marvel is the same. Make a movie for kids, sell toys and merchandising for kids, Make sequels, Repeat.

I remember about a year or so ago, Kevin Eastman says something about the movie being like the Avengers or something.

this is kinda what Bry was saying but without using the Marvel connection

in a way yes...all super hero movies are very similar...what makes them good or bad is not the brand or the heroes. its the people Behind the scenes.the writers, the producers, Directors ETC

the Marvel team as a great behind the scenes crew attached to it..you can see it in every detail...whether its a casting director of set designer

and while they do stray a tad from comics, they still stay very true while borrowing from Marvels many sources

if you want to compare Turtles to another franchise Id say Hellboy is the best "Movie Brother" they could have..in a way their stories are very very similar
and for the movie Deltoro didnt only borrow from one source..He admitted to taking the parts of the Origin he like and tweaked them to fit his tale

once again in the words of Brian Henson "you can take a great script and end with with atleast a good movie, but you can not take a bad script and end up with a good movie" and that is always the first step

I can't help but have a feeling it's not going to get one and the revenue will go towards something else. While it's been acknowledged that it made a good few bucks at the office there seems to have been a lot of apathy towards it.

That said, the Smurfs & Chipmunks movies got sequels.

Maybe it should have been more like a TMNT movie or something, because it definitely wasn't.

Squeakquels? Now it's TMNT the Pizzquel. Heh.. I'm lame.. lol

Given who's involved, have high doubts the second will get axed though.

Casey Jones is his Vigilante street name....:teek:

Turtles as a concept really having nothing to do with Avengers, and the entire attempt to force them into that mold creating a really awkward movie that doesn't really satisfy fans of either?

Check and Double-Check.

:twink:)

Oh s**t no, please don't jinx us like this!:o

Check and Double-Check.They never said they wanted to make it like Avengers, that was just Kevin Eastman's opinion of what it looks like. In addition, ticket sales proves that people dig it.

Exactly people buying tickets to see this thing doesn't mean they wish they hadn't afterwards.

Audience scores: 56% on Rotten Tomatoes (117,498 ratings), 6.1 on IMDB (82,486 ratings), 5.1 on Metacritic (373 ratings). A D-average isn't exactly something to brag about.

Vicky, it seems like your prediction is pretty close, given the news about Dave Green. Pre-production work is underway.
