Okay, I remember reading somewhere that Minae Noji, the actress who played Karai in the TMNT 2014 movie, will make an appearance in TMNT 2012.

Even if the source was wrong, I still have a theory; What if Teng Shen was actually alive?

I mean, that would bring such great conflict into the whole Shredder vs. Splinter rivalry. I know they said Saki killed Shen, but what if Shen wasn't really dead? That'd be such a great twist, though.

Maybe she is but she is their spirit guide during the vision quest?

I assumed that was an unconfirmed rumor.

Shes done a ton of voice acting work long before being Karai in TMNT 2014, She could be anything.

I could see this. Tang Shen's spirit leading them. It'd finally give them a tie to "mom".

I remember reading that she said she was in it, and that her role was super secretive.

But even if she's not in it, what if Tang Shen is actually alive, though? It'd seriously be a game changer for the show.

I dunna....I'd rather dead characters stay dead.

That'd be cool but I'd rather she stay dead. Maybe they can do flashback scenes reflecting her point of view on the Yoshi/Saki relationship.

Ditto; if Shen weren't actually dead, it'd remove a lot of the impetus for the vendetta between Saki and Splinter. Even if she were around in spirit form, it'd allow for too much potential closure. Shen's death is the primary character motivation for Saki - it needs to remain unfinished business (IMO).

Was the show clear on how she died? Did she died when the building fall down or did she died when she step in on Oruku's killing blow that was meant for Yoshi?
It just hard to imagine that she would survive. I sure after the building collapse that Yoshi would tried to find Tang Shen's dead body so that he can give his dead wife a proper burial, but then again he thought Miwa was dead all these years so I guess it could happen.

Another thing that I want to know is the backstory on Tang Shen. How did this love triangle escalated into such a violent conclusion? Did she meet Oruku and Yoshi through the military? Was she simply a outsider or was she part of the Hamato clan or better yet she was originally part of the foot clan and was second command but was never really in love with the Shredder and left when she fell in love with Yoshi.

This foot clan theory might be more likely since foot clan itself has many people with different nationalities and honestly this is just a interesting and cool head canon for Tang Shen. You could sort of imagine the scenario if you watch Kill Bill with Tang Shen being Uma Thurman (aka the Bride).

I wouldn't mind seeing them do that in the story, but I kinda wouldn't want them to know who it was.... I dunno, I think letting the audience know it was her, but not them would be better. I could see her restless spirit watching over Yoshi, and learning about his change and knowing the boys that way. So she'd know them, but they'd be clueless about her. It would just be too much of a lifetime movie kinda thing if they knew she was there, and they had a mom for a bit and laa de daa...

My thought on this vision quest is that Splinter will show up. He's been down in the sewers for weeks - months now. Surely he's woken up and figured out his bearings. He might do a lil old movie mind-tap with Leo during a meditation session... This is what'll get them back to city more than anything else.

I got the impression that she was part of the Hamato clan/village, and that she died when the building caught on fire and collapsed... that's just my perception though, I could well be wrong.

True. I do like that better.

I really wish that we can get a flash back episode of how things turn to what it is today. I really want to have episode of Yoshi and Saki's lost boy years when they were in the military of maybe even them as children.

I always have this idea that Splinter when he was a kid, he was a cross between Mikey and Raph. He would be charming and charismatic but he would this fiery temper that would get him into trouble, especially with his dad.

I really want to explore that aspect of their relationship as brothers and for them to really act like brothers because there would a sense tragedy knowing use to be a genuine relationship between the two of them. We are told they were brothers but I want them to show it so it would have more meaning.

We saw Teng Shen's body in Hamato Yoshi's arms. My guess is she was mortally wounded by the Shredder during the fire. And she could have been saved if she had recieved medical attention right away, but she is crushed by the burning building.

Miwa wasn't found but baby's are mostly cartaliage so her body would have been mostly ash if she had died in the fire.

I honestly don't know how I'd feel if Tang Shen came back. Honestly, I think it'd be better if she stayed dead, but I would like to see her in a role, kind of like the IDW Tang Shen.

I'm hoping she comes out voicing Mona Lisa, Ninjara or Alopex, But chances of that ever happening? Doubtful.

I'd prefer Tang Shen stay dead. Nick is already juggling so many other loose ends that they really don't need another, and her death fuels half the plot. Bringing her back to life would just be messy.

However, I find the concept of her returning as a spirit or vision for a single episode mighty appealing. I feel like Splinter's made about as much peace with her death as he's ever going to, so if she appears to anyone, I'd like it to be Karai (even if she's still in her mutated state).

Karai's got to have a wickedly confusing mix of emotions at the moment: On top of the obvious ones, I think she'll have a lot of guilt about having served Shredder for so long, even though that was hardly her fault. It'd be sweet of Tang Shen could appear in some form and help soothe her frenzied mental state a bit.

I doubt Shen's alive as it seems Shredder actually killed her with her blades, but I'd love to see her come back in a spirit form. Maybe after the Turtles contact Splinter and go through their vision quests, she possibly could guide them through them. I think that would be pretty cool.

I'd be fine with her being a spirit or appearing in a flashback for one episode. But making her alive would just ruin the series for me. Besides, you're not even sure if she's going to voice Tang Shen.

She is not alive. You saw her dead at the hands of Splinter at the flashback. There is no way she is alive. Unless Donatelo make a time machine and then Splinter traver back in time when she was alive and then bring her to present time... That the only way tang shen could come back to life but this is not going to happen

Though it would be an interesting twist were she alive, it would seem very doubtful given past flashbacks. Her absence and part of Splinter's past adds to the emotion of the entire situation. Although, like mentioned here, and I think the topic has been brought up before, I would love if she reached out to the Turtles in spirit. Might hit even deeper if it takes them quite a while to ever figure out who it was.

As for the actual actress in question however, it will be interesting to see if she really does turn up in a role. Any adult female addition is welcome, assuming she'd be voicing an adult if she really does this. This show so far either has a lack of interest in such characters or is perhaps playing on the emotion that they are missing, seeing as how all of our young main characters are motherless - something you'd think they'd bond over more. Minae Noji, or others, would certainly be welcome in an adult character role. (Or other roles, she doesn't have to voice an adult of course. lol)

Maybe someone dies (maybe one of the turtles) and we see them in the after life and Tang Shen comes up to talk to them telling that they are a hero but it's not your time yet and they need you and need to go back and they do.

It's a pretty safe bet that if she does voice Tang Shen, it'd be either in flashback or spirit form. I could see her trying to contact the Turtles.

Maybe someone dies (maybe one of the turtles) and we see them in the after life and Tang Shen comes up to talk to them telling that they are a hero but it's not your time yet and they need you and need to go back and they do.

I actually had an idea for that in a story I came up with. Like one of the Turtles would ask her if she hated Saki for what he did to her and her family. It's then revealed that she made Yoshi promise NOT to avenge her death because she knew that it would turn him into a twisted, hateful man like it did with Saki.

Oh, you know what would be REALLY awesome? If they had Tang Shen "haunting" Shredder! Like she'd appear in reflections and in his dreams. If they were still doing the horror movie thing, they could reference "The Grudge" or "The Ring", but that might be pushing it. Japanese horror movies know how to scare people...

I actually had an idea for that in a story I came up with.

In one of my stories I have Donnie encounter Teng Shen after Splinter puts him in a meditationally induced coma to help him recover from his injuries.

In his subconcious he finds himself sitting in a forest clearing with only a dying camp fire (a physical representation of his life). Around the ring of light the fire is able to give off there are shadows of humans and creatures prowling about waiting for him to either the fire to die or for him to step outside of the ring of light so they can drag him to his death.

But one shadow encurages him to keep the fire burning and not fall asleep because sleep is akin to surrendering to death.

One by one, the Turtles, and Splinter would come and talk with Donnie and recount memories. And the Turtles would be how Donnie himself would subconciously see them. For example when Splinter appears to them, Splinter is a human. Donnie has only known Splinter the rat, but he also grew up knowing Splinter had been a human once and he has seen Splinter mourning his lost humanity. So it makes sense that Donnie would subconciously see his father/teacher the way he should be not the way he actually is. And when they leave there is a log left behind to be placed on the fire. As Donnie progresses through this journey, he begins to realize the shadow talking to him is Teng Shen.
