Yawn... (http://www.thetechnodrome.com/sounds/skdp_nicetry.wav)

Also:

Donatello: Quick! Boil some water!
Raphael: We're not delivering a baby, dimbo!
Donatello: I heard it in a movie.

Leo: We've got to make it home before we get even smaller!
Raph: And quick...we're shrinking faster than a pair of cheap underwear!

Of course, it wasn't just the turtles' voices that were high-pitched; I think some sound recording glitch or whatever at the end of production cause the sound to be a fraction of an octave higher...anyone else notice that?

This is one of my favorite eps of the old series. Don't ask me why, it just is.

"Infernal technical difficulties! And just when this show was getting interesting." - :ksad:

For some reason, episodes where the main character shrinks are always favs of mine, no matter the show. I don't know why, it just seems like a really cool concept.

I always loved the tiny pizzas at the end of the episode and the look that they gave to Master Splinter.

I liked this episode, the fight for the 1st fragment was funny. The turtles were so overconfident that they would take Shredder down like nothing and they get owned by him. "Net results, 4 trapped turtles! Oh, I made a funny!"
"Baxter! Connect me with Krang in Dimension X immediately!"
"But my cone is melting in the sun!"
"SILENCE TOAD, DO AS I SAY AND NOW!"

I always loved the tiny pizzas at the end of the episode and the look that they gave to Master Splinter.Mike: (Opening pizza boxes) Hey, just scope out these babies!

*short pause as Leo, Don, and Raph look at the mini-zas*

Raph: Babies? These things haven't even been born yet!

Don: Is this some kind of a sick joke?

Mike: Well, ask Splinter! (points thumb at Splinter) It was his idea.

*Leo, Don, and Raph give Splinter a dirty look*

Splinter: I had them specially made for my small students, to remind them that they still have a long way to grow.

I agree with you there, dude! It's always funny when they do that, cause ya see how they react to everything being 20+ times bigger then they were before.

LEO: "Oh no, a stormdrain!"
DON: "Why are we running? It's just your average sewer trickle!"
LEO: "But we're no longer your avaerage sized mutant turtles!"

This was an alright episode... it is actually the only episode in the entire series where a character dies (the little purple alien guy)

I always liked that Shredder actually wins a fight in this episode against the turtles. But there are some preety dumb parts like the sewer snake too... :dead:

I like the part with the snake where they force feed him the soap. I think they should use the part where leo slices the soap for a soap commercial.

Whoops, silly me! Oh well, my favorite line was right after they got swept into the sewer.

LEO: "Remember, we're turtles! We're at home under the water!"
RAPH: (gurgles) "Just keep telling me that!"

I liked the art in this season its my second favorite after the first five episodes of course....

When the soap was dissapering:
Michelangelo - "Bummer no soap... no hope!"

Underwater:
Michelangelo - "Woah buds that was definetly a radical ride!"
Leonardo - "Now all we gotta worry about is getting to soar!"
Raphael - "We got bigger problems then that Leonardo!"
Donatello - "You're always looking for trouble..."
Raphael - "Oh yea... well this time the trouble's looking for us!"
Terrifying fish comming towards them:
Donatello - "Yikes! It's Mobey Dicks big brother!!!!"

Fish circuling the four mini turtles
Michelangelo - "Like I promise dude I'll never eat another anchovee pizza again!"
Raphael - "I got new for ya bud you may never eat another pizza again period!"
All 4 - "AAAAHHHHH!!"
Net from above scoops them up:
Baxter - "Well what do we have here looks like a rare species of soon to be extinct turtles!"
Donatello - "Something tells me we were better off with the fish..."

Reznorite420 - hey did you cap that sound clip cause it be cool if someone took some sounds from each episode of the old show. I'd love to ehar some clips! (Even though I got all the episodes from mIRC)

Yes, I do cap my own clips, thank you very much ;)

Sadly the only ones you'll get to hear for the next 4 classic ep discussions from me are ones already posted on the sound clip page (all but one capped by me though)

Speaking of which, I think it's about time to start a new classic ep thread...

Definetly are we goin' in order or what?

Here's my favorite shrinking turtle quote:

Raphael - "I didn't know they made soap this big!"
Michelangelo - "Must be the large family size."
Doantello - "Speakin' of things that are large..." (Points to snake)
Leonardo - "Were not swallowed yet!" (Chopes off soap, snake eats it)
Raphael - "Let's do lunch again some time! Nice going Leonardo now were travelin' economy class!"
(Later)
Raphael - "Looks like were not the only ones shrinking, the soap is to!"
Leonardo - "Hold it guys weve got more serious problems!"
Michelangelo - "Oh yea like what?"
Leonardo - "Like that a STORM DRAIN!!"
Donatello - "And were headed right for it!"
Michelangelo - "Oh what a bummer no soap, no hope!"

I don't remember, but how exacly were they returned to normal size. I think it might have been on of Krang and shredder's machines but i dont remember.

April used the crystal to return them back to normal size (it was Donatello's idea to try it).

I can't help but wonder if the crystal may've been voice activated, like if whoever held it had to say a particular word in order to activate it.

Re-watching this episode brought back some memories. I definitely remember the part about all four Turtles crammed together on a piece of soap floating down the sewer stream :tsmile:

Overall, it's a so-so episode. Like someone else said the shrinking theme is a classic and it does offer up some funny moments but I feel the episode doesn't really get going until the very end. The Shredder and Splinter fight scene is pretty good actually (perhaps their first proper fight?) and it leaves with Splinter telling the Turtles to let Shredder go because "Even our mistakes can serve as teachers"! Which I thought was a nice ending! :tcool:

I agree. I also liked that Shredder was able to outsmart and defeat all four turtles in a few minutes. The banter between Krang and Shredder was entertaining as well.

Yes you're right about that and Krang and Shredder dialogue is an endless source of entertainment! :tgrin:

The fun in this episode is about the good moments, and not the stock cartoon plot.

I don't care about the OT being "badass", but I like Shredder being a physical threat to the heroes, and the duel with Splinter at the cheese factory is pretty cool to my inner child (the little girl inside me is always rooting for Splinter, even if some of his backflips make his robe fall down, which is pretty disturbing).

Krang is also SO hard to please, and it's great.

It's probably not meant to be funny, but the way that Baxter invents a turtle detector just out of nowhere makes me giggle. As does the scene with the ice cream cone, and his entire Renfield act.

I like this episode for that, and not the "search for plot device/shrinking things" plot

I also loved the Shredder/Krang dialogue in this one. We really hadn't got to see them arguing like an old married couple until this point. Well, I suppose they did it a little in Return of The Shredder. The high pitched voices were hilarious, but they really didn't pitch them up all that much. Not nearly as insane as Funny, They Shrunk Michelangelo's voice effects were.

hehe Never thought of that. Yeah Krang is the type to make others squirm and cackle about it. Ah I love that guy even if he does happen to be a little twisted.

This is my 500th post, so I thought maybe I could post it in this thread. This was one of the very first episodes of the series that I remember watching as a little kid. It also stood out to me because of its plot. I also remember having a dream about where Irma suggesting feeding the turtles ice cream, so they could become large again.

Something similar happened in Attack of The 50 Foot Irma, the turtles had to get Irma to eat ice cream so she could stop being a giant.

I loved The Incredible Shrinking Turtles. I remember the first time I saw it, I bought a book called a The Incredible Shrinking Turtles around the same time!

one thing that was great

shredder takes down all 4 turtles!

it was the first time he did that!

in the first 5 episodes he loses to raphael. but here he actually takes down all 4 by himself in "clean combat" (you mean dirty combat)

This was one of the very few moments where Shredder defeated all Turtles and he did it by himself? I wonder why the Turtles lost so easily? I assume that they didn't have much experience fighting Shredder head on and got better as the series progressed. I hear Shredder is supposed to be on par with Splinter.
