No arguements please I don't want my thread locked
I thought I do a thread for this as the awards season is coming up and TMNT is up on the shortlist for Golden Raspberry awards.
The score for TMNT is up contention for the Oscars but it's got to beat 114 other movie scores

The shortlist of nominees for the 34th annual Golden Raspberry Awards has leaked.

TMNT are in the shortlist for
Worst Picture
WORST REMAKE, RIP-OFF or SEQUEL
WORST SCREENPLAY
WORST DIRECTOR
WORST SUPPORTING ACTRESS - Megan Fox (this made me laugh as you think she be up for Worst Actress )

I can see the movie go up for Worst Screenplay or Worst Director.
Megan was terrible, but not entertainingly bad throughout the movie, so I don't think she'd deserve Worst Supporting Actress, she isn't good enough to get an award, and she isn't bad enough to get an award in my opinion.
Crap acting. She over-stayed her welcome. Basically, mediocre acting and WAY to much Fox.

Worst everything basically. I didn't think Megan was that bad, it's just that she fell victim to the usual Bay shlock where they movie is more about the human characters than the title characters.
I imagine if they made a Thundercats movie, they'll somehow make it take place on Earth so the movie is more about little Johnny trying to admit his love for little Susie.... and oh yeah... Lion-O is in it. Sorta. And Cheetara bends over a lot.
Oh also nominated for Movie that caused a TMNT forum to be locked.

Who's talking about Bay? Both movies sucked, it just so happens that the same dude was behind both. It woulda sucked either way. TMNT was horrible and TF4 was BORING and easily one hour too long.
And well... he did destroy at least both of these franchises. What can you really do about it? Fans shouldn't have to just 'shut up and accept' the crap they're given. That's just dumb.

honestly if turtles was nominated and won razzies....and they accepted the awards with dignity and understanding as to why they won them...i would have more respect for the crew
what was once a joke "you made an awful movie award" is yes still a joke and an admired joke
yes no one aims for a razzie award...in all honesty movies dont want one...but ive seen many actors, BTS, directors, etc accept this award...with full understanding why the movie they made received it and why they deserve it
sadly i doubt they will be the cause here, as bay and co seem to be on the blame game of "Its the fans faults"

Based on how they're acting they'll most likely be confused as to why their masterpiece was even considered for the razzies.

This year's Transformers film was MUCH worse than TMNT.
And it's fashionable for the internet to pile on hate for Cameron's Saving Christmas movie, so I expect that one will win the Razzie for Worst Picture.
It is odd Fox is in the category for supporting actress since it really was her character's movie.

WORST SUPPORTING ACTRESS - Megan Fox (this made me laugh as you think she be up for Worst Actress )
Likewise, I'd seen she wasn't listed for worst actress, figured people didn't think she was that bad... then laughed at "worst supporting actress."
Really, beyond the acting that is a good fit in an off kilter way. She was supposed to be a supporting character, but wasn't, thus bad at the job of being supporting actress.
Bay might not be the only film maker to destroy franchises, but that's not exactly a club to aim to be in. Not like others would get away with it pain free either. lol

As much as I'd like to see TMNT sweep the awards they're nominated for, I don't see it happening with how terrible I've heard Saving Christmas is. Never mind Transformers 4 is tough competition considering I've seen it mentioned on multiple worst of lists and TMNT surprisingly hasn't.

Halle ain't exactly flying high herself these days other than the X-Men scraps. Pretty sure after she finally took her t**s out everyone mutually lost interest. I know I sure did. I mean, after that what's left?
As for Megan, I'm pretty sure this TMNT gig is her last "shot". That whole "next Angelina Jolie" thing didn't really take. Probably because, Jolie as a person is actually semi-interesting beyond just being attractive, while Megan Fox is not. Literally Nobody Cares about Megan Fox. Even Brian Austin Green doesn't care; he's only with her because he's Brian Austin Green and what exactly are his options?

I really, really dislike Megan Fox. Can't explain why. I mean there are plenty of talentless people who I don't hate - I acknowledge that they're talentless but they're fairly inoffensive. I don't like this lass, though. It's not even her looks either - I don't like them particularly but I can see she has a certain look that lots of men would like. I don't think it's because she has destroyed April because I disliked her long before her link to this property.
Sorry Megan, I'm sure you'll get over it

Dave: I think it's her entire way of carrying herself. Her "if people don't like the movie they can f*** off" comment was no shock at all coming from someone like her. She just comes off as a very narcissistic type who's used to everyone telling her how hot and how great she is, but at the same time, she absolutely needs to be Told those things because she doesn't really believe it. Like, be it TMNT or TF or even "Jonah Hex", it just CAN'T be that you made a bad movie, or that you're not that good an actress, if people don't like your work then they themselves are the problem. That hyper-defensive reaction is common in people who know, deep down, that they kind of suck, and don't deserve what they have, and are just failing upwards in life until the day everyone stops caring about them. But outwardly, they're Perfect (Just Ask 'Em).
Basically, she reads as a hot conflicted mess of both narcissism and insecurity. Just like every other bimbo ditzy enough to get a freakin' tattoo of Marilyn Monroe. And just a brief tangent on that: Ladies, pick better role models. Seriously.
pennydreadful
01-04-2015, 06:35 PM
... what's wrong with Marilyn Monroe?
(EDIT): To clarify; I don't really have anything for her but I don't have anything against her either.
Leo656
01-04-2015, 07:08 PM
The fact that she was, (being kind) very much a mess of a person who projected an outward veneer of "perfection", when inside she was seriously mentally ill and probably should have been doing anything else with her life other than flaunting her goods for an objectifying audience who couldn't honestly have cared less about her. She also was a very flagrant user of people her own self, very manipulative, openly willing to deal in her sexuality to get ahead, and frankly, no matter the era, that kind of behavior speaks poorly of a person's character, to me. I know "the times" and "she was manipulated/exploited, too", but she was a willing partner in very much of that from the very beginning.
She's not in any way a role model, basically, yet a lot of young women act like because she was "damaged" and yet became "successful" that she's some kind of idol or someone to be emulated. Fact is, she wasn't "successful", she just had money and fame and f***ed famous people, which are things women have always gotten fairly easily by getting cosmetic surgery and taking their clothes off. She didn't invent her act. And yet by all accounts she was still a miserable, self-loathing person who apparently only ever felt any self-worth by getting plastic surgery and taking off her clothes in the first place, and she was still miserable throughout the entire ordeal, so no, she wasn't "successful", because "success" implies happiness or fulfillment, and she apparently had very little of either.
Now, I know full well she had a pretty rotten life before, during, and after all that, so it's not like I'm just dumping on her, but that's really more to my point: Women or girls who proclaim Marilyn Monroe as some kind of "role model" are dangerously, way the hell off base. She was ill, and basically, she chose (key word) a lifestyle that did nothing but ensure that all of her problems would only ever get worse - which they did - "BUT, Money and Fame!" I know she was exploited by many, but she did more than her fair share of exploiting herself, as well. People who put her on a pedestal like to gloss over that, and focus exclusively on the victim angle.
I mean, let's just call it: Other than being "America's Most Bangable Bimbo" (which is ultimately her legacy, let's just speak plain), what did she "accomplish"? Girls who make her their role model are like guys who watch "Scarface" and think it's a blueprint for "How To Succeed In Business". Just the absolute wrong message to take from the larger story. If anything, she's a Cautionary Tale/Tragedy, not someone to look up to and want to emulate. She became a Star by being, basically, a Hollywood Prostitute. That's... not something to glorify.
I know I'm coming off pretty harsh, but I'm just putting it in black and white. There's very little that's "empowering" or "inspiring" about her life. It's all just really awful and sad, other than the fact that guys still jack it to her decades later, I guess. Yay, Legacy?

Marilyn Munroe was just a talentless tart who spread her legs for a president. That's all she ever was. She was like a good looking Princess Diana - basically just a legal prostitute who used a man for money and status. I like to think that their premature deaths are karma for their horrid personalities & gold-digging status. But if that were true then millions of women would drop dead tomorrow.
Beautiful woman. Although I've only ever seen photos of her with bleach blond hair, caked in make-up. She might have looked far worse without the war paint.

Yeah, it's really weird...boggles the mind especially in 'April O'Fox Rules The Universe'. Dave: I wouldn't call her "talentless". I mean, as far as acting standards for women of the era she was perfectly fine. She was definitely a media creation but at the very least she had the charisma to pull it off. Even in her day, there were dozens of chicks who were hotter or better actors, but she got to be "THE Star" because she did have the "It Factor". You can't buy it or teach it or learn it, that's ultimately why she got to be so renowned while a bunch of other chicks sat at home. I mean, yeah, all that other stuff happened, too, but it also happens every day to hundreds of chicks who DON'T go on to have their own postage stamp. Just to give credit where it's due.
I thank The Maker every day for the "It Factor", because most days I'm pretty sure that's ALL I got... but it'll take ya places, lemme tell ya...

I really don't get that. If she was the "supporting" actress, who was the LEAD actress? F***in' Whoopi? Megan was The Star of the movie, indisputably.
Someone definitely called in a favor to get her name moved to the "Supporting Actress" category, so she wouldn't have to "suffer the embarrassment." There's literally No other explanation.

Indisputably, and yet there it is...She's listed as supporting actress. Like I've said all along, she was not the main protagonist. The Turtles are the main focus of the movie and she's just kind of there...and she's barely there the last half of the movie.
Galactus

^^^
She got the most screen time by far. Even when the movie gets to the turtles she's always present and doing something to pull focus.
It's also her story. Trying to prove herself a serious reporter, trying to uncover what happened to her father and his work as well as the subplot of Vern having the horn for her.
Take the turtles, Splinter and Shredder out and there's still a (bad) narrative there. Take April out and there's just battle scenes without purpose and even then April is not only present for those same action scenes but delivers the finishing blow.

So... because the Razzies list her as a "supporting actress", that completely removes the fact that she got the bulk of screen time AND was the only reason the entire movie's plot happened? You may need to take some writing classes and figure out just what defines a "main protagonist".
In short, it's the character who makes the movie/story happen. Which is April. April O'Neil is the main character of this movie. Far more than just the "viewer's eyes", she is the sole reason anything in the movie happens at all, right down to landing the final blow on the villain.
The Turtles were much more "just kind of there". Side characters in their own movie.
I get that you like the movie but you can't redefine what words mean to suit your definition. April is the Protagonist. Thus, Fox should have been listed as simply "Worst Actress", but as others have suggested, they either made up the awards without seeing the movie OR Fox or someone close to her made a nasty phone call, since "Worst Supporting Actress" wouldn't look as bad on her future resume. I can believe either.

I think the fact Fox was nominated for Worst Actress in Jonah Hex and Revenge of The Fallen where she WAS a supporting Actress with a large part and Not Nominated for Worst Actress when she Actually Was The Lead with a large Part AND every character was connected to her in some way says something about either theory. Not to Mention She Was Nominated Twice for Worst Actress in One Year where One Actually Was a Lead in Jennifer's Body. So 3 Nominations for Worst Actress Yet All of a Sudden a Supporting Actress...
The thing which confirms the latter for me is her competition for worst actress this year:
Gaia Weiss -The Legend of Hercules
Drew Barrymore - Blended
Melissa McCarthy -Tammy
Cameron Diaz -The Other Woman, Sex Tape
Charlize Theron -A Million Ways to Die in the West
You Put Fox in That Mix and I can't See How She Could Possibly Lose...
The Boston Ninja Turtle

Too bad the Turtles' actors probably wouldn't get much recognition. So they, and in a way the Turtles through them, get the recognition as the lead roles.
(Razzies are picked tomorrow, right? That's the one I'm looking forward to. :trazz:)

It's hilarious how this thread is titled, making one to think that some type of grand honor is being bestowed on this film, when the Razzies are the main highlighted nominations of this film.
So besides the Nick Kids Choice Awards and that one score nomination for the Oscars, does this movie have any other nominations?

Hmmm...So there are 2 nominations from the "International 3D & Advanced Imaging Society's Creative Arts Awards (http://international3dsociety.com/)": "3D Feature - Live Action" and "Outstanding Use of 2D to 3D Conversion". (I can't find the other nominees for those two categories.)
Uh...so for any of you who watched the film, do you think visually the film deserves it? (I guess the movie had to be visually spectacular, in relation to 3D imagery, despite however good or bad the writing, direction, and acting were since this is an action film.)

In comparison to other movies, I can't really say if it's deserved over others since I haven't seen many of 2014's films yet.
Design arguments aside, the Turtles were quite well done for the most part and believably existed within their real life surroundings.
I still love the work they did on the eyes. One of the things I love most about 3D as a medium (and a little envious because I'll prob never been that good with it lol) is when an artist is able to make something so realistic that I feel as if I doubt that it's fake. The eyes hit that for me, enough that it leapt over the uncanny valley and never bugged me.
Textures are pretty nice, though there may be a place or two it could have been rendered a little better. Also love the natural movement of their clothing/gear, etc., seeing as how that part happened entirely in the computer. Lighting on them in various scenes was well done for the most part.
Well there is good news and bad news for us.
Good news is Michael Bay will clean up at the Razzies this year, bad news is it'll be for that other movie he worked on.
Seriously, as bad as TMNT was in my perceptive, T4 wipes the floor on everything bad this year.
And just voted. You better be under the age of 13.

I agree with that except for one exception.
I'm voting for "The LEGO Movie" out of complete frustration that it was left off last year's Favorite Animated Movie ballot, because of the reasoning, It was still in theaters when ballots opened.
...Despite the Spongebob movie being on the ballot this year with the same circumstances.
LEGO Movie got major hosed. Would have ran away with the 2014 award if Nick didn't give conflicting and contradicting messages.

That's the thing, They make it easy to vote, They don't have any way of knowing who actually voted, Since it can be from anyone.
There are places where you vote, but you would have to enter your RL name, email and such to validate the votes.

Heck... half the celebrities nominated probably have friends who went and voted for them. I was kind of surprised that Nick's site didn't at least want me to sign in. Seems legit. lol
Watched the Lego movie a number of weeks ago. My sister suggested catching it, was surprisingly a lot better than I was expecting. That sucks if it got brushed off.

Guess the 'bump down' to a 'supporting' character in a film with the most screentime where everything and everyone revolves around didn't do the trick aye :tgrin:

Little disappointed that the director didn't get the 'pleasure' of winning.
However I find it amusing and fitting that the April role that should be supporting but wasn't won for worst supporting.

I'm confused as to why Fox was listed as a supporting actress... she was the main character of the movie.
It's nice to see she got her well-deserved award, though.
