ANOTHER new TMNT B/W series? from MIRAGE?

Hey guys, not sure if anyone caught this or if its already been posted..and if it has, just lock this topic, but theres a NEW TMNT kid on the block, and its from MIRAGE!!!

THE SLUSH FACTORY.COM has just announced the following:


"Artist Rick Remender has told Slushfactory.com that he's been tapped to work on a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles book from Mirage Entertainment.

"I can’t talk about what the book is, or what it’s about," says Remender," but it’s a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic penciled by me, Rick Remender (Black Heart Billy, The Avengers, Doll and Creature), and inked by one of the unquestionably best inkers alive, John Beatty (the original Punisher mini, Batman, GI Joe).

Continuing, he says, "I can’t say anything else about the nature of the book, other than it deals with the original TMNT and takes place in the eighties (where I’m stuck forever anyway). Peter Laird and TMNT scribe Stephen Murphy have been blown away by the art so far. John and I know everyone else will feel the same."

and always surfin' for new TMNT stuff online.. apparently tho, this is entirely new, seperate from the new Tales series.. the news was announced this past weds...and judging from the preview art on the Blast from the Past info thats posted, the art is COMPLETELY different. this is evident because the artist is VERY hush hush about it, and cant reveal anything, even the title name...news indeed :)

Oh, for the love of god. While the turtles look okay, Splinter looks absolutley terrible. I can't even put into words how terrible he looks. He doesn't even look like a rodent anymore. I hate how he was drawn in the current Mirage Series. But I never thought I'd see a version that looks worse then it. Amazingly I have, and now my eyes have imploded in protest. :sick: :dead:

I will agree Splinter is quite bad in the new series. His face many times just looks like a mush. Bleh.

This new splinter here is okay. I do think he looks a little...ferocious.

But the Turtles certainly look cool.

Yeah, I to wonder what the story will be... The article says that it deals with original TMNT and happen's in the 80's... Is it original Mirage stories with new art or what? So next year there might be 4 ongoing TMNT books... I don't think that has happened ever before.

Wow. This looks great. I'm really excited for "Tales", even just so we get all sorts of different creators taking a stab at the guys. I quite like the art, even if Splinter looks a bit odd. But hey, pretty much every artist has a drastically different take on the Sensei, so I'm used to it.

The full-head bandanas belong to the Pre-Teen versions of the TMNT, if I remember correctly.

No, Lola, you aren't. Although he certainly doesn't ever look like a rat, and honestly, I don't think he ever did throughout the entire TMNT universe, I like the look. He looks kinda dragon-y and mondo scary. :)

Besides, if all the artists made him look precisely like the sort of rat he should be, it would limit artistic creativity. I like to see differing interpretations, even if they venture outside of biological realities. After all, we are talking about fictional mutant creatures here.

I'll have to keep an eye out for this in Previews.

Pretty good drawings on the turtles. But Splinter does look ridiculous. He just isn't a good splinter at all. And I personally do not like Raphael's Sai's. They look a bit weird with a round curve on them.

I looked pretty closely at some of the other pictures... It's true that his sais are not as curved as they first appear, but yes, they are still pretty curved.

That coloring job on Leonardo was fantastic!! I am very impressed.

As far as the way Spinter looks. I think he looks like a Ratkin from White Wolfs Werewolf: the Apocolyps
its a Table TOp RPG I am VERY fond of. he looke like a mix between a RatKin and a Black Spiral dancer.

I did change him up a very little bit but used a number of versions done in the past to get my version. He should look more familiar in the book.

I agree. (Oddly enough, I was thumbing through said crossover just the other day.) It's definitely a different take on Splinter, but I've always enjoyed seeing an artist apply his own visual spin to a character. I really like Trent's version of the Turtles as well.

I love the way leo looks in the bottom left section. From what ive peaced together #1 is about some forgotten race underground number 3 is about splinter. ANd number four is this one with the monster that te turtles are fighting. If you look on the first page of this discussion on the penicls of this one it says tales of turtles #4. Remender can you tell us how many issues there will be?

the shark from the archie series name is Armagon..I could dream it's Armagon but I highly doubt it is...but I think Laird really liked him seeing as he drew him so much..I can hope they bring a shark monster of some kind into the new show then I can finally make my homemade Armagon figure..
