Since everyone important in the series seems to need to be a mutant or have special powers, what if Irma comes back as a robot? Maybe Ciro would be okay with this, as then Irma would be a sci-fi character and Playmates might then want to make an action figure.

Here's how it would work:

Donatello finds the pieces of the Kraang Irma robot suit, and learns that there is actually a program in the robot that is the Irma personality. So with some slight changes, he creates a robot friend/guard for April. This would be Irma, only as a robot, with the ability to transform into a larger fighting robot, or extend limbs and other such robot abilities. So kind of an Inspector Gadget type of character, to keep April safe from the Kraang and the Foot when she is in the city.

I'd like there to be a human Irma, bt this still sounds like an awesome idea! It would sure be different than other versions of the character! :)

I don't like so much this idea... I mean, wouldn't it be disturbing to April?

I'm still hope tha they bring her back as human

Cool.
But I would like to see April develop, and become more independent.
Maybe become the strength and skill of a Foot Ninja.

That'd be cool to see the Irma android come back, though I don't see the idea of using it to protect April going well for Donnie. Remember how pissed off April got at him for trying to protect her during the fight in Kurtzman's apartment? The dude really needs to learn that there's a fine line between chivalry and smothering.

I don't think that would be good for April at all. It'd probably remind her of everything that happened during the invasion. It was a traumatic experience. Usually, people go out of their ways to avoid reliving it. It'd probably also make her feel bad that her best friend wasn't even human to begin with. I would find that unsettling, personally, as well as depressing.

I still say there's a human Irma someplace and that Irma was real until sometime after the second Rat King episode and was replaced. My headcanon has Irma and Mrs. O'Neil as captives of the Kraang. He wasn't smothering her, though. She wanted to prove herself in that episode. She didn't want to admit that she actually needed help. One thing that's been established from the beginning is that April is totally stubborn. Anyway, later in the episode, she was annoyed over the fact that she had to be rescued in general, when Raph showed up. So yeah, it wasn't just Donnie. This was her general feeling on the matter. She wanted to take care of herself and not viewed as someone who always need to be protected. In the first episode, when the turtles were saying they'd help her, even then, she was like, "No, it's my problem, I should handle it". She came across as stubbornly independent to me. At least the show's consistent in this regard...

Also, I personally feel that Casey, at times, is more smothering or view her more so as a damsel compared to Donnie. Look at the Invasion ep with his awesome mural he made (and I do know it's paying homage to Star Wars). She was depicted as being protected. In Donnie's Mech sketch, he had included April, fighting right alongside him and the others in the mech...so yeah... I couldn't see Donnie building anything like a robot for the sole purpose of protecting April.

I'm kind of curious as to where they'll go after returning to the city.

What an inventive idea!

That gave me an idea about this.

Rather than simply make Irma a guard, Donnie salvages the old Turtle Mech along with Irma's personality (and head). He combines the parts together to create I.R.M.A. (International Rescue Mechanical Armor), a sentient vehicle for the cast.
