Fox wasn't "supporting", she was the lead (arguably the films biggest problem). If they actually watched the film they'd know that
Exciting!! It's got stiff competition, but I believe this movie deserves at least a few.

Lead and Supporting roles, especially for awards, are kind of loose definitions. Fox might have had the most screen time, and have been one of the very few female roles, but they can define it as a "supporting role" if they're basing that on the Turtles being the "main" roles. Clearly that wasn't the case in the actual movie, but they might still define the roles that way.

Great job, Bay and Liebesman! You earned those nominations!

Wow. Those are a lot of razzie nominations, and didn't the movie gross decently?
That aside, I just saw a trailer. The movie will be shown here in Japan in theaters February 7. Should I go see it and understand why the film is being nominated for like all the razzie award categories, or should I just take everyone else's word for it? lol In all honesty, the only part of the movie I did want to see was the elevator scene, but with Leo headbanging.

Honestly, I'd recommend just holding out for the DVD release. There's nothing about the theater that heightens the experience of this particular film.

Should be a shoe-in for worst screenplay. So many gaping holes. If I didn't already know what I know then I would've been hella confused after watching it...
@ssjup81 I would beg to differ about watching it, I think it is worth watching on the big screen because one of it's strong points are the effects and these can always be appreciated more on the big screen IMO

One of my problems with the movie was April's apparent lack of intelligence when talking with her boss. If she'd shown her the photo she had taken of the turtles, she probably wouldn't have lost her job (she gets it back according to the extended ending on Blu-ray BTW). Also, Karai gets demoted to an extra with barely any personality, and there's barely any connection between the mutants and Shredder for any conflict other than the mutagen. I didn't mind Shredder's second-in-command too much, but he stole too much of the spotlight in my opinion, and Shredder barely got any personality or background.

You mean the picture that the turtles DELETED? Or the picture WAY off of something that you cant tell wtf it is? Might wanna find another example...
The hate that movie gets is astounding. No where near as good as the original but good lord you would think Bay came and kicked some of yalls puppies or murdered Raphael with how strong the hate is for it. Not even as much hate for Next Mutation or the third movie as there is for this as a whole which is ridiculous.
And after I saw Mel Gibson (for Expendables 3) on that list for worst supporting actors, I stopped reading the rest. The highlight of that movie (one could argue Snipes tho) gets a worst supporting actor nomination? GTFO It seems like if something is considered a "summer blockbuster" type of action movie the movie snobs will **** on it regardless.

No, no, you misunderstand... she gets it for being bad at being a supporting role. :P (Yeah ok it doesn't really work that way, but it's fitting. lol)
In all honesty, the only part of the movie I did want to see was the elevator scene, but with Leo headbanging.
And that part of it isn't even included, we saw more of the elevator scene in trailers, collectively speaking.
I feel bad for the Turtles, but for some of the film makers.... ptth, nah. Amusing that Bay got his name up there next to Liebesman thanks to his other film.
These awards... good test of Hollywood humility, or so I assume. Ya either show up and accept graciously or look like a jerk. lol

Exactly. Once again:

The only people who have a problem with the Razzies are the arrogant and the humourless.
And honestly, they're actually really fair about what they nominate - they can tend to single out higher-profile stuff specifically, but they do take care to just target movies that are truly bad (or severely flawed). I'm sure some movies I've liked have been nominated -- I couldn't name any offhand, but it's definitely possible -- but if I'm honest with myself, I'm sure any that did have serious problems that deserve to be acknowledged.
EDIT: I actually went through the last 15 years of nominees and the only movie listed that I legitimately enjoy among them is Speed Racer - and even then it's a guilty pleasure thing (it's not a very good movie, but the visuals are so bright, fun and ridiculous that it's fun to watch). So I dunno, I think their track record of nominations is on point.

You mean the picture that the turtles DELETED? Or the picture WAY off of something that you cant tell wtf it is? Might wanna find another example...
It's been a while since I saw the movie, but didn't the turtles erase the pictures off the phone and then run away? And didn't April take a picture of them as they were running away?
So she did have pretty solid evidence of the turtles; she was just way too stupid to pull the phone out for Whoopi Goldberg.

Is this shown on tv? Or is there at least guaranteed video later? I don't really bother with award shows anymore, and never really paid much attention to the Razzies either, but in this case I may have to see how this one goes down.
I hope the TMNT nominees can find it in themselves to be good sports about it. (Though I have major doubts.) After all, you can't always win at everything you do, anyone that can't accept that, well....

Yeah, they erased the stuff from her phone. Then after being threatened she goes and takes more photos when they leave.
It might have been from a bit of a distance, but it was enough for Eric Sacks to believe what April was showing him.

She literally went from not showing Whoopi the picture she had, instead solely showing other. far less convincing pieces of "evidence" (and getting fired as a result) to immediately visiting Fichtner's inexplicable New York City mountain estate to show him the exact same picture. No explanation for this is given.
The only explanation that makes sense to me is that they may have edited the scene with Whoopi into the movie out of order from when it happened in the script. Story-wise that doesn't seem to fit, but I can't think of any other reason they'd leave that plot hole where it was.

Realistically though, it's not going to make any difference how many Razzies this movie gets (or Bayformers, for that matter): as long as it makes money, the studios will still keep pumping them out. At this stage of the game, I think we're going to end up with several Bayturtles sequels - I'll be shocked if there aren't a minimum of three Bayturtles movies.
There's still an audience segment that loves Michael Bay, and those people are who he makes movies for. The man's a squillionaire - he's not going away anytime soon, and studios are still going to keep paying him mucho bucks to keep pumping out movies which his fans will throw their dollars at.

Oh, that's all true. I'm not happy about it, but money talks. And considering Paramount keeps letting him pump out awful Transformers movies without stepping in for some quality control, I don't expect much will change on the TMNT front until the money dries up.
That said... Transformers 4's domestic take this year was down lot from the previous movies -- $107m less than TF3 -- and while BayTurtles did well, $191m domestic against a $125m production budget (and an undisclosed marketing budget) isn't exactly record-breaking. It's too soon to call it a trend, but it's possible the shine's coming off the Bay apple stateside.
Overseas, however? He's doing better than ever. It'll be interesting to see how all this plays out next round.

Oh definitely - I'm in total agreement, Bry. I don't understand it, but whatever he's doing, enough people like it that his career isn't going to trend downwards anytime in the foreseeable future.
Studios don't care about quality - they just care about the bucks that he's raking in. Hence why I would be very surprised if Bay weren't handed another 80's franchise in the coming years. By the studios' reasoning, Bay + 80s franchise = money, tickets sold and toy sales.

The people who constantly proclaim their lack of caring are the ones who care the most. If you care enough to tell people you don't care, then you care too much.

Almost everything since has been a remake or a reboot.

Well, they've released an absolute ton of anime movies, and I didn't realize the show is still running and has been consistently since 1997 - so that property's obviously doing just fine without Hollywood. The risk couldn't possibly be worth it.
Though, on the topic of Nintendo: I can imagine Legend of Zelda and Pixar-style Mario movies turning out really well if a really talented team put the effort in. Which is a long shot. But there's a ton of potential.

IMO Razzies should be only for the "so awful, it's not even bad enough to be funny." While I'd admit that the Michael Bay movie was below average, it has some redeeming moments and I feel that the Razzies are more for show than purpose, and they choose the noms to draw ratings rather than pick obscure films/actors that few people ever heard of. Did you know that in 2010, Sandra Bullock won a Razzie and an Oscar?

I feel like the studios would want to go for something that's pretty well-known (like, in the top 5 80's cartoons) so my money's on Bay being given Thundercats next... if they went for something outside of that, I could also see choices like C.O.P.S or Centurions, as well as the ones you've mentioned. Or Galaxy Rangers? I don't know that the later ones I've listed were that big a part of the toy market though (admittedly it can be hard for me to gauge given that I grew up in a country where the range of available toys from 80s shows was much smaller!)

Yeah, exactly. Just more movies in the "Kids Are Stupid, They'll Like What We Tell Them To" genre. My niece made me suffer the first two. It was actually her next big infatuation after TMNT. She fell out of TMNT and fell into... the Chipmunks movies.
Not only are they nothing at all like the original toons, which even while lighthearted still had some type of moral or message to them at times, they're not even very well-done kids' movies. Complete pandering trash. But everything has to have poop and fart humor now. "For the kids".
And I recently heard that someone else was working on both He-Man and Thundercats and that they're far removed from Bay, but I fear the damage has been done. This generation, starting with Transformers, has shown Hollywood the "right" way to do licensed films. "Buy the name, design the toys, make it loud, make it shiny, make it dumb, and watch the money roll in." It doesn't matter whether Bay physically makes the movies or not, his influence is everywhere. And we asked for it, and continue to do so. Every time someone says, "Who cares? It's just a movie, and (X) was a silly property anyway," we're further diluting things, and reinforcing the idea that "Crap Sells And People Are Stupid". Why we do so, willingly, is beyond me. Just Stop Going To See Bad Movies, and eventually they'll stop making them. They don't have any reason to Try Harder when people are fine being given junk.
I mean... Hollywood calls you stupid to your face as a day-to-day fact of life/business. I can't be the only person who finds that offensive and refuses to play along.

When I saw the Chipmunks movie, my niece just wouldn't stop gushing about how it was the best movie she'd ever seen... meanwhile, afterwards my poor sister was groaning to me in the kitchen out of earshot of her spawn, "You have no idea... it's EVERY DAY... and it's SO HORRIBLE! It's just such a sh*t movie, and she LOVES it SO MUCH! Two, three times a day... it's just... it's not even funny! Why are kids so stupid?! Why are MY kids so stupid?!"
I think she grew out of it but I'm not sure. But yeah, that was insulting even by "kids movie" standards. I couldn't contain my groan for the poop joke, even for the sake of placating my niece. That stuff is never funny. And yet, poop/fart humor is a staple of just about every kids movie nowadays. Simple Things For Simple Minds. I must have been a mutant, even as a kid I hated that stuff.

Speaking of kids movies, apparently Paddington is freaking fantastic.

Which kinda sorta totally proves our theory. Kids movies don't have to be f*cking insultingly dumb to appeal to kids.

Despite liking Ren & Stimpy up to a point as a kid (it became too gross for me) I never was fond of toilet humor either. I hate fart and poop jokes, and was the same as a kid. It was never funny to me and still don't get how people find it amusing, but to each his own, right?
As for those Chipmunk movies, I don't remember it all that well...just that I felt it was bad, imo, and couldn't blame nostalgia for it. lol

Damn right. Just look at (most of) the Pixar movies. A good kids' movie should still be a good movie, period. Anyone who says "it's a kids' movie" to dismiss criticisms clearly doesn't have enough respect for kids.

Y'know, re-reading all that, I'm gonna clarify, I DID occasionally get into that kind of "cheap" humor, in shows like Ren & Stimpy or Beavis and Butt-Head where the entire thing was over-the-top and low-brow and that was the entire point. It was funny in context and I loved those shows. But out of context, in places it's not necessary or doesn't fit, it's just Effin' Stupid.

I can only think of one property, currently, that would cause a crazy meltdown online if Bay got hold of it: My Little Pony. Can you imagine the outrage?

The Native American community has suffered enough - and Bay's insensitive about racial portrayals at the best of times. I'd prefer that's one property he didn't get his hands on!
The idea of Bay trying to figure out how to incorporate explosions into the MLP franchise is hilarious though. That or Care Bears.
I think it'd look something like this:

There is a Jem film in the works. Again, I was never really into that either, so I'm not all that concerned.

Jem has been done for a while, it comes out in October. They shot it in a month for no money. It stars a bunch of no-names, and Molly Ringwald. Since it was a property created and designed by a woman, and the entire thing has always been marketed to girls, they had a guy direct it, an all-male team of Producers (but a couple chicks are "allowed" to be cinematographers), and they promptly told the show creator to go F herself when she offered to be involved with the production. This is happening because after the "success" of G.I. Joe, Hasbro signed a 6-film deal with Universal. Because you people won't STOP going to see stupid movies, and they're convinced they can just do any goddamn thing and sell it.
True story? The same people ARE doing the My Little Pony movie, which comes out in 2017. Hope you're all proud of yourselves.
And Bravestarr kinda sucked, I don't care what they do with it.

Ain't no "might be" about it. This thing is apparently giving off nuclear levels of toxicity within the industry. It's a total Rambo "mission designed completely to fail" scenario.
I mean, yeah, the show itself was total cotton candy fluff, but that just begs the question of WHY make a movie out of it? Yeah it can, easily. For starters, the budget is supposedly embarrassingly small. Secondly, it's a franchise nobody ever took even a little seriously to begin with (can't blame 'em). Third, four weeks is a really ridiculous shooting schedule. Fourth, it was green-lit by people who thought the GI Joe movie was a really good First Step. And finally, the only appeal the movie has for people who aren't fans of the property is, "Holy s***, Molly Ringwald? She's still alive?!"
It's not just gonna be worse than TMNT. It's going to be one of the worst movies ever released in theaters, period.

Hollywood could really use some more smart, talented women behind the camera who can make some awesome female driven movies that aren't dimwitted and unconcerned with putting anyone's boobs in the camera nor making sure that sex appeal is inherently part of the character description.

You know what I honestly think? I think the situation in Hollywood is a lot like the one in video games. Lots of women get involved because they want to create actual change, "Fight the system from within", all that stuff... then they realize, It's Totally F'n Impossible, because all the people in power within the industry are Men and they're absolutely Not Interested in stepping aside for anyone with the Exact Opposite agenda than the one that's already entrenched. So, these "crusaders" give up, settle for "progress by inches", and come to the practical decision that since the world doesn't want to be "saved", they may as well be able to pay their bills.
Thing is, it's not gonna change. Like, not ever. The entire point of any industry is "The Status Quo Works", because that's what makes the most money for everyone. In Hollywood, especially, the pen-holders at the highest rungs of the pecking order only move aside for family members. It's a completely closed system that doesn't allow newcomers of any kind, especially idealists. And 99% of them are Men. That's not changing. Ever.
I'm not saying that's right or wrong, I'm saying it Is What It Is and that there's reasons why it can't be and will never be any different.

Hey as long as they give it a faithful origin, and stay true to everything we love about Gummy Bears, then it should be great!
Also, why are you sitting through a Gummy Bears movie if it's made? Do you live in some country that forces you to watch movies you will hate?

I think it's silly, personally - good stories are good stories. Who cares if your protagonist/s has/have bewbs? Do people really think that way?
Sadly yes...I have a hard time understanding people who write things off because it's lead is a woman. Or the entire cast is women. I think the last few years have gotten better, Bridesmaids certainly helped, and SNL has always showcased talented women. Actually SNL's female cast right now is better than the male cast.
I think the reason it is getting better, and it will continue to get better, is that women are not following that old way of thinking of act this way, say these things, dress really pretty so you can meet a good man who will knock you up and you can raise the children at home while he provides. That is such a warped way of thinking.
Women who are not afraid of being themselves are the ones who will truly make a difference in this world, and get people to open their eyes.
Same old reasons I guess probably why kids shows meant for boys or both genders keep the girls/women in fewer numbers. Too many and that equals "for girls" and therefore deadly toxic to guys (or seems that way) - unless of course uncensored skin is showing...or, uh, is made of cartoon Ponies.

Obviously girls watch shows aimed at boys, and nobody will say a thing, and sadly I think shows aimed at boys are more realistic in nature. So there is some small form of relatabilty for the girls when they watch. The shows aimed at girls seem to be for ultra barbie type girls. Pink dresses and being popular and all that stuff. That's unappealing to a boy. I saw the commercials during TMNT this weekend for a show on Nick about a girl who goes from cheerleader to QB for her school, and I thought that is a good show for kids. It's showing that a girl is equal, also putting her in a powerful roll such as QB (leader of the team) and it's not diminishing the guys either.
I think most men who don't really think about it, think feminism means that women de-value men, but they are just looking to be equals. I think if most men really knew what feminism was about they'd understand it.
I think you were the person that inspired me to actually start posting on this board (I'm sure Leo and TrickOrTreater are thankful), over arguments of sexualizing April...now regarding your statement about getting non dimwitted women who don't use sex appeal... Sex is natural, sexual attraction is natural. I don't get why people are so against having anything to do with sex in movies. It just seems odd to avoid that, or suggest that women are sexless. That's kind of what men have been doing to women since the dawn of time. They've looked at women as just there for our sexual needs, only being sexual so we will provide a life to them, and now I notice some women who are trying to make women into these sexless people. Sex is natural...but for whatever reason it may be, some people are not comfortable talking about it or seeing it...and those people tend to think it's being forced down their throat...but it's actually not.

I made no such statement.
movies that aren't dimwitted
talented women behind the camera who can make...movies that...sex appeal is [not] inherently part of the character description.
Inherent
: involved in the constitution or essential character of something
In other words... not necessarily removing it, but not always acting like it's an important aspect of a character that has to be pointed out rather than focusing on more important traits.
that aren't dimwitted
Such as things like...
The shows aimed at girls seem to be for ultra barbie type girls.
And you're right, a lot of it seems exactly that way. Which is pretty much my main point (and I guess a symptom of how society is), be it shows aimed at kids or descriptions of adult characters - it's all very one dimensional depictions/marketing.
Women who are not afraid of being themselves are the ones who will truly make a difference in this world, and get people to open their eyes.

You know what. If this film does (very possibly) win any of those nominations...
If they fix the lair for the sequel and/or have a new home that is just as filled with so much stuff like their 'bedroom' is/was, I want and think it would be very appropriate for them to tuck the/a Razzie trophy in among all their other junk, able to be spotted by a good eye.
(But who ever it belongs to still has to take it home after production wraps up so it can stare them in the face.)

Such awesome work done on it (those folks deserve a trophy for that, and not a Razzie), I'm kind of envious of those who must have gotten paid to have the job of looking for all that stuff to build and decorate the place. Problem is, with that you're comparing something that could actually have been something, to something that was never going to be anything. It's kind of a sliding scale.
TMNT was a huge disappointment to many people because, they technically could have given us just about anything, anything at all, and THAT was the best they could do. Well, I for one don't think it was anywhere close to "the best they could do" and am pissed they barely tried. It could have been a lot more, and not just a toy commercial/jokey piece of nostalgic fluff.
"Ouija", however, never had any chance to be anything, and apparently it wasn't. How can you even "grade" something like that? Something with zero potential to be any good turned out to be bad. Meanwhile, something with infinite potential turned out to be "Eh". That, to me, is worse.
It's like, nobody gets upset when the kid from the trailer park gets hooked on smack and starts robbing liquor stores; he's just doing what he's "supposed' to do. When the straight-A honor student who was gonna go to Harvard starts doing blow and stripping, that's when everyone freaks out. It's a matter of, "How much potential did such-and-such really even have to begin with". Make sense?

Great job, TMNT! You did it! :trolleye:
I wonder what the outcome would have been if he'd directed TMNT as well as Transformers (he essentially was the director of Turtles, but still...)

It was well-earned. (And the sad part is that was probably one of her best performances.)
It'd be hard for anything to compete with Kirk Cameron in a "worst" competition, but the fact that BayTurtles was nominated for five Razzies will always give me an evil little smile.

Very glad she won. Hopefully it'll encourage her to be looser & not so mannequin-like for the sequel.

I find that highly doubtful.

Yeah, it's hard to make pouty lips and emote at the same time. And knowing some film makers, sticking her lips (and ass) out will prob continue to be a priority.

Yeah because all the bad reviews she got from all her other movies really made her take her craft more seriously.

The Razzies shortlist is up and surprisingly TMNT 2 is only up for 2 nominations.
The 2nd movie is up on the shortlist WORST PREQUEL, REMAKE, RIPOFF OR SEQUEL and Worst Actress.
WORST PREQUEL, REMAKE, RIPOFF OR SEQUEL
Alice Through the Looking Glass
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Blair Witch
The Divergent Series: Allegiant
Fifty Shades of Black (rip-off of Fifty Shades of Grey)
Independence Day: Resurgence
The Legend of Tarzan
London Has Fallen
My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2
Ride Along 2
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows
Zoolander 2
WORST ACTRESS
Jennifer Aniston – Mother’s Day / Office Christmas Party
Marion Cotillard – Allied / Assassin’s Creed
Megan Fox – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows
Radha Mitchell – The Darkness
Tyler Perry (as Madea) – Boo! A Madea Halloween
Margot Robbie – The Legend of Tarzan / Suicide Squad
Julia Roberts – Mother’s Day
Becky Turner (as Hillary Clinton) – Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party
Naomi Watts – The Divergent Series: Allegiant / Shut In
Shailene Woodley – The Divergent Series: Allegiant
This is only the shortlist so TMNT 2 might not even be in the final cut.

The most popular film will get it, which will be BvS. It was the film everyone loved to hate last year. But Zoolander 2, Blair Witch (to think the childish filmmakers dissed a Tom Hanks/Clint Eastwood film), or Fifty Shades of Black, maybe even My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2.

Had been wondering if it would be in there again.
Maybe Miss Fox will get another for her mantle. Although to be fair to her (this once) she's certainly not the only one for it that could be nominated. Though I guess others were largely bound by writing and ideas they had no say in. (Sure, her too, but you don't see anyone else delivering bad lines as if it's soft porn.)
Do they do nominations for writers? That one really should win.

The crop of cinematic crap in 2016 was so extensive that this year's 37th Annual Razzie® Awards is expanding from 5 nominees to an unprecedented 6 contenders in each of its 9 Worst Achievement in Film categories.

All too true!
I'm glad I'm not a Razzie judge... choosing the worst of the worst for 2016 sounds like a rough job.

I assume BVS will win. Noone cares about a bay tmnt sequel and we all assumed it would suck anyway. At best we were hoping it would at least suck less than the first one, but it being terrible was already a forgone conclusion. But everyone was expecting BVS to be the top superhero of the year and put marvel in its place. When that one was horrible it disappointed a lot more people than a ninja turtle movie everyone expected to suck anyway.

Ouch! She's been nominated for five Razzie Awards for Worst Actress now. If the rumors of her being in Gothem City Sirens is true, she should rethink her acting career. Shame, I liked her in the first Transformers along with a few roles in her earlier films. But as of now, giving her the benefit of the doubt is becoming more fruitless.
