And dangit, I wanna see Splinter! Even if he appears as a momentary flicker. Just... something....

Let's get down to business! To defeat Shred-head!~

Great episode! Definitely one of my top favorites from Season 3. It was nice seeing the turtles focus on their weaknesses. Also, finally seeing Splinter again (and using the 90s scene to do so no less) in what seems like ages was wonderful!

The Goonies reference by Raph was a nice touch as well. xD

Finally, an excellent episode! We finally get to see what so many of us had wanted, expressing how the Turtles can use their spirits, ninja powers, and ultimately conquer by themselves through the magic of some spiritual references. It leaves you wondering whether these enemies are real or not yet it clearly is one of the deepest emotions that any non-comic TMNT adventure has provided with us. Very nicely paced, starting with Leo's message through several different exercises, with the deer representing Hamato Yoshi's spirit, while the enemies can venture anywhere, and this provides a key turning point in the series. The ending was fairly abrupt, but it sounds like we'll see the sewers and Kraang very soon.

Overall: 9/10

I think I'm finally warming up to Seth Green as Leonardo. Seems like he definitely got into the role now, and it fits with Leo's new mature attitude.

Granted the episode ended pretty quick as it was, so that wouldn't have helped any more.

But honestly, I'm glad they took it out, once the episode got serious, it needed to stay that way. When the writers take the scenes serious, you know to take them very serious.

I noticed they cut out Raph's 'fired up' joke from the storyboards. Understandable, they had to cram a lot of awesome into a small amount of time. :D Fantastic episode! I'm ready to go back.. to NYC!

Woo! Nice. Really wasn't sure for a min there with that music in the early part, but great when it turned serious and was in contrast to the start of it. Awesome that they really did do the camp fire Splinter thing.

Thought it might leave me still wishing they'd still spread it out across a few episodes, but that worked out pretty well.

Obviously in terms of story progression this was the best episode, but in terms of thorough enjoyment, I enjoyed this one as much as In Dreams.

I've enjoyed a lot of the season, so it's good we got one that did that and progressed back to NY.

Also liked they didn't spoiler anything else on the next episode. I think the original preview did enough, I want to be in complete darkness going into "Return to New York"

This was a great episode, I wish it had been an hour. Probably my favorite this season.

Anyone else notice Donnie shoving April aside to get to Leo?

Loved the Goonies reference.

Mikey was my favorite, I hope he uses what he's learned when they go back. For some reason, he is the one I think is the most badass when he goes into serious fighting mode.

Leo finally figuring out his leg was still hurting because of fear, which is what I thought he sort of figured out last episode.
Seth makes Leo so much more gruff sounding and a lot tougher.

Agree on getting more used to Seth's Leo. Not all the way there yet for me, close, but been helpful to hear more dialog from him/them, Seth seems to be falling a bit better into place with it.

They're not Japanese, they're Chinese characters. And their English translation is at the bottom of this image:

http://i.imgur.com/PRaJ4BG.jpgYou're right. The writing on the banner is Chinese, but the characters representing each of the turtles can be Japanese. Chinese and Japanese do share some similarities. Japanese is just more simplified and was originally adopted from Chinese. For example, the character for mountain (yama in Japanese) may look the same as the character for mountain in Chinese, only it'll have a different reading...but the meaning will be the same.

This is why some Japanese can maybe come across something written in Chinese and understand the gist of it or get an idea as to what it could mean since some of the characters share the same meaning, even if they don't know how to read it verbally. I guess you could say the same for Italian/Spanish/Portuguese. Of course all three are different, but if you know one or have studied one of these, by reading it, you may understand some of it or get the gist of what it could mean.

Which Foot Too Big scene? The end piece? Think I do recall they showed Donnie wearing the cloak... If that's the part I'd have to agree it worked better where they put it since it fit well with the juxtaposition (wow, there's a word a never use) of Donnie-April and Bigfoot-Donnie.

Do you think that last scene from A Foot too Big would have fit better here as was originally intended from the storyboard?

Yes! This could have been the scene had Donnie fought and won his inner battle with being obsessed with April, of letting her go. I felt that it was missing on his part since it's such a big part of his life. However, this wasn't about just Donnie, so moving it was probably wise.

You know it is so much more interesting when the mutants are actually characters and talk. Tiger Claw, Rahzar and Fishface are actual "characters" and not simply monsters of the week like the other mutants.

It really goes to show you how much more interesting mutants are when they resemble the old animal mutants from the original cartoon and Archie, and not "monsters of the week" like most of the ones this season.

Honestly didn't like it. All the combat was great but other than that it felt rushed and a lot of it was silly.

I won't nitpick everything, but my main beef was with the campfire scene with Splinter. His speech in the first movie has moved me to tears several times, but here he shows up and basically says "you're an asshole, you're a retard, you're a nerd and you're a big pussy. Now go dress up and play make believe in the woods. Also I'm not dead."

And then Mikey is the only one to get emotional.

I think it works pretty good for them, it aligns well with where Splinter felt they each needed to put their focus.

Although I'd thought before that I'd not have minded Leo being Earth. (Ok partly because it's a bit of prefered symbolism myself. lol) But wind is awesome too. Wind is storms... also love that.

That storyboard wasn't originally intended for this episode.

Donnie was wearing a cloak. A cloak that look exactly like the one he was wearing in this episode.

I don't know what they could have done to make fit better or to have some character development or continuity but in the grand of schemes (other then what goes on in a story arc) it really doesn't matter.

Story arcs are never going to be steady and pack with padding filler as well as plot amnesia. Mikey's maturity is never going change unless a certain writer and director is in charge of a episode, and we are going having keep dealing with this Capritello nonsense until the end of time of this series.

It better to start accepting this things now and try look forward to the other stuff that the show has to offer. :(

Well... I can take it as also being part of adding interest and meaning to the story, though in that case I also wish the outfits had more explanation within the show.

Instead of always just finding ways to put new figures on the shelves, what they need to do is get together more with Build-A-Bear and sell new show-related outfits for the TMNT plushes. :tsmile: Darn outfits tend to cost more than the regular little figures anyhow.

Incredible episode! Probably my favorite of season 3, along with Buried Secrets (for some reason I loved that episode and everyone else was really "meh" on it).
Loved that Splinter was seen, and that his appearance was a reference to the original movie but it was adapted so greatly that it fit completely with the story of the episode. Speaking of reference, Raph had a great Goonies one. I don't even like that movie but it still amused me.
Mikey was great, too. What is everyone talking about on here, him not maturing? I saw nothing but maturity in Mikey for the last half of the episode!

This was a great episode! At first I thought it was starting out slow, but I wanted to give it a chance. I'm glad that I did. The second half of te episode was great, and finally seeing Splinter again was awesome. I've rewatched much of season 1 and was thinking about how this show needs the wisdom that Splintor provides.

Also, is this the first episode since season 1 where Fishface said actual words? I remember hearing him growl in season 2, but I don't remember hearing him speak. Even though I'm not a huge fan of the character, it was cool to see Fishface interact with Raph again.

Don't agree with you on the overall episode but your description of this scene made me laugh my ass off.

I thought it was a good episode. Not an amazing one, but a good one. I enjoyed the moodiness of it, the fight scenes and Leo getting his head kicked in by a deer. I don't think it's the best episode of the season by a long shot, but then I look for different things than some.

Some people love anything that advances the larger plot arc, even (or especially) if that involves seeing scenes or ideas we've already seen in other versions of TMNT. And for that reason, with this being the most "plot advancing" episode of the season, it's already a guaranteed hit in some quarters. For me, I will always love the "filler" stuff that everyone else moans about because that's where all the funniest, weirdest and most original stuff about this series lies.

And whilst the vision quest stuff was done fairly well here... well let's face it we've all seen vision quests before. We know how it goes. And I was thought it was anti-climactic that Raph, Don and Mike all ended up fighting villains that they've actually fought and defeated before in the real world. What's the big deal about Mikey defeating Rahzar in the spiritual plain when he's already done it in the physical plain?

I rewatched the episode and I still love it. Loved the backround music it made me have chills.

I just love the Turtles individule Vision quest. Loved Raphs flame weapon. Mikey defeating Spirit Rahzar was badass and Leo shooting an Arrow into Spirit Shredder's eye was pretty dark.

I noticed when the spirit deer appeared and then Raph, Donnie and Mikey went to attack it because they thought it was a mutant then Donnie accidently hitting Mikey and Raph and then Raph got mad then started attacking Donnie. I wonder if this is foreshadowing the the Dark Raph story.

That was one awesome episode! Loved everything about it from the comics reference with Leo and the deer, the campfire scene with Splinter, and all of the vision quests. It was just great all around, though I loved Leo's fight the best and loved when he hit Shredder right in the eye. I hope he does something like that when he faces him for real. And someone mentioned Leo learning about the lesson in the last episode, but that was more about him not letting the pain get to him, though I think he still has that fear even after all of that, so it makes sense he'd still be feeling the pain. And I still say there's more to it than just the knee pain itself and he's still afraid to face Shredder. Overall, a very awesome episode. Loved the Goonies reference and Mikey wiping away a tear. Bring on the Return to New York!

Best episode yet! True, the story pace was a bit fast, but this being a 20min show, the writers did the best they could. I think whether it would've been better as a two-part-er depends on how well the rest of the season plays out.

If the rest of S3 is focused on the main plot with no fillers, then maybe you can "excuse" the writers for making "Vision Quest" a single shot affair. But if we're going to have a number of non-main-storyline-related episodes, I think there was definitely a missed opportunity here to engage in more complex storytelling about the turtles' spiritual journey.

I agree with you on the campfire scene. I think Splinter should have said how much he loved or missed them, anything emotional. Maybe he couldn't wherever he is, but it would have made me believe Mikey crying over it.

I also wanted an emotional connection between the brothers like in the movie, where they all hug and cry together. I guess they don't want to get too mushy. Little boys might turn the channel.

Also, guys, am I the only one who found Leo's fight with Shredder a little too evenly matched? Maybe it was just the spirit, but Shredder seemed a lot weaker than he really is. Last time Leo fought Shredder, Shredder pinned him down within a few seconds. I'm really hoping the Turtles fight Shredder as a whole again before Leo faces him on his own.

I also thought another place that might be foreshadowing is when Raph controls his anger, turns around and lights his weapons on fire. It reminded me of Shredder a bit. I may be reaching a bit here, but I thought it could possibly be a subtle foreshadow.

I noticed that too. What I do like about the Leo/Shredder fight however, is how Shredder became a giant, and that's how Leo defeats him. We still have the proper Shredder turtle fight for later, and the fight in this episode is won in such an unreal way that the later fight won't feel rehashed or anything.

Also what exactly was up when the deer went into Leo's head? I'm not sure what that was supposed to signify. Was it just Leo finally getting his injury out of his mind?

Giant Shredder reminded me of Turtles Forever to be honest. I'm still hoping for the whole team to fight Shredder and he beats the living **** out of them. That's why I love 2012 Shredder: They always get the **** knocked out of them whenever they fight him.

Holy crap someone PM me a link please. Not one that can only be viewed in America. ;)

Do people agree with the Turtles' elements? We've got fire, wind, mountain and forest. Usually I hear of earth air fire and water, and I would totally switch things around--Raph can be fire, but Mikey would be water, Leo earth and Don air. I think.

Just finished watching it, and this one was awesome! Loved the fights- especially Mikey. He is really bad-@$$ when he really focuses. Raph's was pretty cool, too.

As for the elements, the only one's I'd change would be that Leo would be water, not wind, and Mikey would be wind instead of forest, much like the 2K3 series.

Okay for my take on the spirit quest in general, here's some thoughts from someone who is familiar with the type of spiritual strength and enlightenment that is touched on here. Shamanic and "Zen" practices are both very ancient and very complex forms of self-empowerment that in many cultures, are as important as physical or mental strength. Donnie as a "stone shaman" was interesting in that masks are a very symbolic and powerful way of focusing one's inner power to manifest it as physical power. That makes sense for him, since he's always using "mind over matter" when he fights already- this just takes it to a higher level, which I really like.

Raph using his anger to "ignite" his inner strength is also extremely fitting, turning what is normally a weakness into an advantage. Spirit journeys are all about finding you true power and shedding the parts of yourself that hold you back- Raph needed to learn to use that.

Mikey's is the only one I have issue with, as a forest is rarely as still and calm as this makes it seem. A forest is LIFE, which is always in motion, and always changing, not static and "still" like the spirit-Splinter said. Wind would have been better for him, using his natural gift of speed and agility to his advantage, and his mind to tap into the potential that it represents- the unbridled potential of the storm, which is very much Mikey. He's wild and unpredictable, hard to pin down mentally, and when he is truly focused, he can blow through opponents with ease (Wind can wear down even stone, which is fitting, given his energy levels.)

Leo needs an element that suits his personality, which here would have been the forest or better yet, water. Water flows and can't be permanently contained- even water in a container still escapes as condensation, and it takes the shape of whatever it's in- it moves and adapts easily to any new environment- which is perfect for Leo. Or if we use the forest as the "element", he would bend and remain firm, yet always growing and changing. (Technically, it should be wood, not "forest". In the I-Ching, forest is one of the four secondary signs out of the eight basic elements, being a combination of earth and wood.)

Anyway, overall, I really liked the episode, and I'm really happy to see the campfire scene, though it would have been nice for Splinter to acknowledge that he loved them, or that he was proud of their progress.

It was a good episode. Not as great as everyone is claiming. The main problem I have with this episode was it should have been 4-5 episodes. It should have been single character episodes exploring their growth as ninjas. Instead, we got rushed "summaries" with action sequences. I also found the camp fire scene (although I'm glad they added it and it was a cute homage) rather flat.

Just got to watch it, and really enjoyed it. I loved their forest training montage before they donned their new outfits/weapons: it reminded me a bit of the "I'll Make A Man Out Of You" sequence in "Mulan." :tgrin: The music was great, and I loved them celebrating (chest-pounding and all) when Raph managed to get a fire going.
The fights and turtle vs. foe match-ups were great, and while I loved the Splinter-in-the-campfire 1990 movie reference, I agree with others that it would have been nice for Splinter and the turtles to show a bit more emotion. But then again, while I've mostly been enjoying season 3 so far, I've been a little disgruntled by the general lack of noticeable concern on the part of the turtles/April/Casey for Splinter and whatever the heck the Krang are up to in New York/April and Casey's family/etc....
Anyway, loved the episode, and super excited to return to New York!

I forgot to mention, although I loved the spirit deer's design, I think we could have gone without another one dimensional "throw away" character. I know, its been watching them in previous episodes but I think the episode could have been even more streamlined (if that's why they sped though this supposedly important episode) if the deer was cut.

I'm getting tired of Leo being constantly reminded that the pain is in his head. We get it already! Move on!

They forge new armor because...?

Yeah, I wasn't too sure about that line of thought too. I guess they wanted new identities to fit the whole reborn theme? But I think it was just an excuse to put them in cool outfits. ^^; At least it shows they know how to make their weapons like in the 2003 version.

That fight was pretty random, and in one sense I thought it was a bit nicer than Raph and Mikey's, if only because it wasn't something we've seen before. I think almost any opponent would feel a bit out of place for Donnie since he doesn't have a specific rival in the Foot clan, unless I'm overlooking someone.

Why did the Turtles attack the deer just because they thought it was a mutant? They met other good mutants before.

When did Don defeat Tiger Claw? Also why was Don fighting Tiger Claw anyway? He had no connection to him.

Mikey has beaten Rahzar and Raph is equally matched with Fishface. Donnie has never actually faced Tiger Claw on his own. The last time he encountered him he threw smoke bombs at him to aid their escape. However Tiger Claw is the second in Command of the Foot. And in a way this is a reference that Donnie has become a second in command to Leo he is the loyalist member of the team.

Mikey's a loose cannon and while he loyally follows his brothers he does need to be reigned in.

Raph is loyal most of the time, but he is also a loose cannon at times and does things the way he feels should be done and does tend to call Leo out on what he feels is BS. While Leo considers the safety of the team before making a decision.

Donnie on the other hand also does things with the teams safety at heart and knows Leo is doing what he feels is best for the team. He doesn't always agree with Leo's judgment. He also isn't afraid to call Leo out on his BS particularly when he feels he has something important to offer the team and Leo just brushes it aside as if it was nothing. Leo in turn listens to what advice and suggestions Donnie has to offer, though sometimes he doesn't have the patience or interest for it.

Oh to be a fly on the wall in the writers' room. I have a feeling that process is something like this.

"Ok what awesome thing can we do this season?"
test some animation
"Ok what awesome thing are we able to animate this time?"

Then they get started writing the episodes but mostly the main storyline which at the most is 3 to 5 episodes. Then wait for the upper management to order some mutant of week to sell toys and write the rest of the stand alone episodes to make up the bulk of the season and sprinkle a little continuity to pat themselves on the back. And then they start full production with voice overs and the animation.

This show is mostly about concepts and ideas which can make some really great stand alone episodes but when it comes to writing big story lines, it requires planning, and it's just not their speciality. Having a linear story arc just makes them inflexible.

My suggestion for the future, is to more focus on having stand alone episodes and have a rather vague and broad story line so that we don't feel distracted whenever watching a episode that not really to the main story.

However season 4 has fewer episodes so hopefully that means the next season has a tightly written script. It would be awesome if that dark Raph arc turns out to be the main arc for season 4. I have wonder though if season 4 will have the usual breaks and hiatuses which could really hinder the season since going in a plot heavy direction.

Other members here who know Japanese better than I can correct me but I believe it was probably watashi no musukotachi o so, "My sons."

(watashi = me, no = particle that implies possession, so "my", musuko = son, tachi = is a group, so "sons", o is another particle...it usually denotes direct object but uhhhh my grammar isn't great given I only took one year and I know it has other uses.)

On the Donnie vs Tigerclaw, Donnie's quest was to be in strong in body as well as mind. Tigerclaw is a powerful warrior who can't be beaten with tricks one on one. It seems suitable that he's the one Donnie would have to face and be forced to use physical strength against to win.

Okay, so I just watched this week's episode. I really liked it. Before I get into it, though, could someone please answer me this? Why in the world do people complain over the love triangle when it's not even the focus of the episode? It was purely used in this ep for humor and I did actually find it funny. Chinatown Ghost Story...I can understand why people would complain, a small moment to poke fun at the triangle where it doesn't even impact the plot or story in any way, I honestly don't get. Alright, that off my chest, time to get into it.

Let's see, between that Demon Car ep and the Chimera ep, I was wondering exactly how much time has passed...same for the last ep and this one. In teh first ep of this season, it was shown that they all train, so April fighting better isn't really a surprise. It shouldn't be anyway.

So, anywho, I loved the fact that Leo's leg was still a problem. Just like I theorized earlier on, it's deffinitely psychological. Like in the last episode, since he wasn't focusing on his leg and wasn't distracted by it or even thinking about it when April tried to eat him, he was able to do what was necessary, but then we have him in this ep going on about his leg again. Same with the Dream Beaver ep. At the end, he was like, "My leg is better"...but by the next episode, it was a problem again. In Leo's case, he definitely had to learn to apply "Mind over Matter" and that push from Splinter's spirit helped do so. I applaud hte writers for doing this as it's a nice, real portrayal of people who have suffered from an injury and how some people have difficulty getting over it because it's mostly all in their mind...although, I kind of wish that every time (or sometimes anyway) Leo felt pain, he'd think back to his being beaten by Shredder's henchmen, to really show just how traumatizing that situation truly was for him.

Oh, speaking of Shredder, I liked seeing "Super Shredder". Better than movie 2. :P

Now, something interesting I found about Donnie this ep for his quest, was how Splinter told him how he had to rely more on his body as opposed to always relying on his mind. Splinter told him this once before. The ep where he made that chart where he was overanalyzing and overthinking everything and how Mikey was a more natural fighter because he just did what came naturally to him in a fight. Mikey also did that in the ep where they faced the Footbots for the first time. Mikey got past Leo by doing his own thing naturally. So yeah, I found their quests a little ironic.

Donnie's Shaman mask was pretty cool. I liked it and it fit. Those types of masks do symbolize knowledge and wisdom...and he is the smart one and seriously, his looking down at Tigerclaw while wearing it...that looked kind of badass. lol

Raph's quest was great! Personally, I just like his lines this ep...but that's how I am with him in a general sense. I like how he mentioned the underwater priate ship or whatever it was. Too cute! lol Also, I like how he was in charge of training. Seriously, this ep just shows (to me) how totally plausible it was for him to get caught in Within the Woods. Seems he was in charge of everything. No oroper rest. It just feels like Raph does a lot. I love him! lol

With Mikey, I like how he got over his fear of squirrels. As I mentioned someplace, it's not surprising he developed a far of them after the Squirrelnoid issue. At least they were consistent. For his quest, I like how he did concentrate (and thought of ICK) and then went back to concentrating. I hope they let him do that in later episodes, although that potential has always been there. He's nowhere near as distracted as he was for season 1. As the show is continuing, he seems to be getting better in some respects. That aside, still enjoyed his batle against Rahzar.

Other things....oh yeah, the campfire scene. It was nice, but not as emotional as movie 1's, but still a nice scene. To me, since a lot of stuff happens "offscreen". so for my headcanon, I think everyone felt that Splinter was dead, despite how Mikey seemed to be the only one who didn't think so. Even in episode 1, he was quoting Splinter until Raph kinda put a damper on it...and after that, no one really talked about Splinter or referenced him anymore. Even in the Punk Frog episode, Mikey left out Splinter and only mentioned his brothers. If everyone at that point felt that Splinter was dead, then I could understand the avoidance of mentioning him given how painful it probably is. Maybe that's why Mikey didn't mention Splinter and this ep kind of gives me that impression. "Are you a ghost?"

Oh Splinter's line, "My sons" in Japanese was interesting to hear. Funny how I can catch that type of Japanese, but if I turned on the TV and watched a Japanese program, I'd have trouble catching stuff. lol

OH something else. When the four were in the woods and the deer appeared to them and Raph, Donnie, and Mikey tried attacking...I noticed something interesting regarding Donnie that I've never seen before. So we saw Donnie accidentally hit Raph. He then accidentally hit Mikey. Then when he turned, he accidentally hit Raph again. Raph got mad and started to hit on Donnie. Donnie kicked him off and was going after Raph. I found that interesting since Donnie isn't generally aggressive. Any theories? I mean we have that ep with the spiders and he hit Mikey because he saw a spider. Mikey jumped and started beating on Donnie who didn't defend himself at all. In the Sadorable ep, Raph embarassed Donnie, but he didn't fight back...he tried talking. So yeah...I found his sudden aggressiveness interesting since I don't recall ever seeing him getting aggressive.

Okay, that's about all I can think of to say right off. It's a nice episode, and it's nice that Leo is ready to go back to NYC. I mean, it makes sense. He can't fight with a bad leg and he had to get over the trauma of having it.

Oh, something I did dislike...I really wish it would've been two episodes as opposed to one. They could've done more with each turtle that way. Like maybe the first ep focuses on Leo and Mikey's spirit quests and the other one Donnie and Raph's or whatever. Just felt they could've gotten more out of it. Everything did feel as if it happened much too fast.

Decent episode. Better than last week.

I really hope there's a good reasoning for why the Kraang have only taken over NY. That's the biggest plothole imo.

Haha we're the Kraang and we will destroy you all!...while we take over just this one city.My theory is that the EPF has some how quarantined the city off, preventing people from entering and exiting somehow and the Kraang can't get out, or either their mutagen isn't all that perfected after all and they're working on it, or either Leatherhead is thwarting their plans from expanding and conquering other areas along with what this incarnation's version of the "Mutanimals" might be, which may include Slash and the Newtralizer. This could also be the case as to why no news reports about the Kraang have been mentioned on TV. EPF covering it up. Who knows.

I know people want them to go back to NYC because they really want to see Shredder and all that. Me, personally, am more interested in why the Kraang haven't gone beyond NYC yet. They had over three months.Other members here who know Japanese better than I can correct me but I believe it was probably watashi no musukotachi o so, "My sons."

(watashi = me, no = particle that implies possession, so "my", musuko = son, tachi = is a group, so "sons", o is another particle...it usually denotes direct object but uhhhh my grammar isn't great given I only took one year and I know it has other uses.)Yeah, that's what he said. "My sons". Still sounded weird to me, though, personally...like it didn't feel natural or something. I guess it felt weird because he was saying this to them as opposed to telling someone about them.

Like they don't have the ability to open portals anywhere else in the world or at least country?

Kraang Prime was knocked out when Casey hit him..her? with the party wagon. Maybe Kraang Prime is unconscious and the other Kraang are too stupid to do anything on their owns without Kraang Prime's instructions and leadership and Gilber Godfrey Kraang was killed...so maybe there isn't a third in command to take over and give instructions if Roseanne and Gilbert Kraang aren't around. The last instructions they received was to Kraangify the inhabitants of NYC and that's why they haven't gone beyond that point. :P

Or maybe Shredder formed an alliance with them and had different plans.

Their new outfits won't last.

those outfits are bound 2 show up again on eps during a special occasion, they wouldnt waste time making the cgi outfits just 2 toss out money in the proccess, yeah, making toys of it is 1 thing but doing it in cgi is another

Also what exactly was up when the deer went into Leo's head? I'm not sure what that was supposed to signify. Was it just Leo finally getting his injury out of his mind?

considering how it went into leos mind like that, it mightve been part of his spirit that split apart from him after the pounding he took

That fight was pretty random, and in one sense I thought it was a bit nicer than Raph and Mikey's, if only because it wasn't something we've seen before. I think almost any opponent would feel a bit out of place for Donnie since he doesn't have a specific rival in the Foot clan, unless I'm overlooking someone.

its not only a matter of which enemy rivals each 1 of them, its also which 1 would they need 2 face in order 2 become spiritually stronger

its pretty much a given that water puts out fire so in order 4 raph 2 become stronger, he had 2 overcome a enemy w/ a water advantage and fishface is currently the only 1 fitting that catergory
since rahzar can easily slice through wood and bones, mikey had 2 learn 2 adapt so that he wouldnt get all cut up
given tigerclaws strength, it makes sense why donnie had 2 face tigerclaw in order 4 him 2 become unmovable
from the way shredder practically "flew" behind leo in the finale, leo had 2 become faster in order 2 actually stand a chance

This wasn't my favorite episode, but I think it was a very important one, and it was well done for the time slot they had. I also wish they would've maybe spanned it for two episodes, and done two turtles per episode, or something like that, because it did feel really rushed.

I got the impression that Leo's not too fond of anything higher than what might be found in New York. He looked pretty freaked out when he found out he was on a bridge, surrounded by fog so thick that he couldn't see the ground.

Raph had the best weapons, but I had to laugh at how much his mask looked like a really big mustache. Also, I didn't know he had a thing for fishnet stockings. I really enjoyed his pirate ship line as well. It displays his dry sense of humor. I get the impression that, if the other guys had been there, he wouldn't have made that joke, and that kind of serves to underline just how independent he prefers to be sometimes. Perhaps that's a trait that will help lead him to Shredder later on.

I didn't have much of a problem with Splinter's scene. Who knows how long spirits can appear to those who's spirits and bodies are still connected. It's possible that, in the short amount of time he had, he needed to tell the turtles what they needed to hear before he disappeared. I also feel like he didn't want to get too sentimental because he wanted the turtles to actually focus more on what he was saying than on the emotions behind it. Finding out that he was alive was probably a shock as it was, without getting mushy and causing them emotional distraction during their quests.

I really liked how each turtle fought in a setting that resembled that of their spirit element. That was a magnificent touch.

I think Mikey matured a lot in this episode. He's never going to come off as mature as the other turtles, because that's just who Mikey is. I think he learned how to focus himself, though, and hopefully we'll see him utilize that in the future. I noticed how he was the first to master his required skill, and the first to defeat his spirit. It makes sense, because from a technical standpoint Mikey has the most raw talent of any of the turtles: He just doesn't focus well. Maybe, because he is so talented, he never had to. I know a few really, really smart people who have never had to really apply themselves, so they don't bother to for even difficult tasks because they assume that they'll get through it solely based on their talent. I wonder if Mikey is kind of the same way: He could get away with not having to focus as much as his brothers, because he's just that good, so he didn't get into the habit of actually focusing his mind.

April didn't seem too thrilled when Casey grabbed her and crowed about being alone with her for three days. I feel like she would've flirted with him in the past, but she just looked plain fed up. She was kind of flirting with him at the end, though, but I hope now that the turtles are back, she'll kind of get away from that and mature a bit as well.

It was a pretty good episode, considering that some of the recent episodes created substitutes for characters that may or may not be under Nick's copyright, is it possible that the "Deer" was based on this thing?
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gHglFEKfal0/UKAG1glu2aI/AAAAAAAAJC4/qnYfNeW7Gns/s1600/god02.jpg

But I also have to ask, how much do the writers actually work together and is there some kind of story editor on this show at all? Because Leo got over his leg pain last episode, the last damn episode. Not to mention Donatello getting worried about April bonding with Casey, kiss scene aside (and the beaver episode implied that scene might just have been a dream) he learned his lesson six episodes ago.

He thought he was better, but every time he feels the slightest bit of discomfort, he focuses on it again, once again recreating the doubt it'll get better in his mind. This is a very realistic reaction to a bad injury, especially a traumatizing one. He had to focus. Mind over matter. So I commend the writers for this. His injury, to me anyway, wasn't completely healed. Like my situation. I had that breathing issue because of the clots in my lungs. Every time I feel the slightest discomfort or any shortness of breath, my mind jumps back to that situation and I then wonder if I'm actually better after all and then I focus and worry over it and have to keep telling myself I'm fine. I get a pain in my leg, I get paranoid and worried, but then have to remind myself that the doctor says I'm ok and that it's nothing. Personally, I think that's what Leo was doing along with some PTSD.

After the big quake/tsunami hit Japan, even though I had left about a month after it happened, I was still showing signs of PTSD. Even after I was back on US soil, I still had PTSD symptoms. Any type of strange movement, I'd slightly freak out. So yeah, personally, I think that Leo's mind was strong and causing him to feel more pain than he actually did. That was the point of the episode, for him to face it himself. The other times outside factors got in the way (Dream Beavers; April). This time, Leo decided for himself to get over this injury once and for all....so yeah, that's how I felt about it and why Leo kept going back to feeling pain.

I wonder if Mikey is kind of the same way: He could get away with not having to focus as much as his brothers, because he's just that good, so he didn't get into the habit of actually focusing his mind. IMO, Mikey is the most natural fighter. Look at the ep with Dr. Rockwell and how he avoided Splinter's hits without even focusing or trying. Same in Vengeance is Mine. When Mikey was sparring with Leo, he wasn't "focusing", but he still was getting hits on Leo and dodging easily before he used his injury to his advantage...and hit him with the water balloon. I guess the lesson for him is that it's okay to fight without the focus...sometimes, but not all of the time and that if he did use more focus, his combatant skill would improve greatly. I also found it interesting how Mikey mastered his trait and defeated his spirit first.April didn't seem too thrilled when Casey grabbed her and crowed about being alone with her for three days. I feel like she would've flirted with him in the past, but she just looked plain fed up. She was kind of flirting with him at the end, though, but I hope now that the turtles are back, she'll kind of get away from that and mature a bit as well. No, she didn't seem to like it, but it's interesting how different people interpret things. I don't see how "I'm going to hit the board this time and show you I can do it" = flirting. Felt more like friendly teasing to me, like how Donnie was teasing Casey earlier in the episode after April kicked him.

Well, this episode was well worth the wait! Loved the Miyasaki-inspired deer spirit (You all thought it too, admit it!), the new outfits looked awesome, loved the ref to the 90s movie AND the Goonies, and now we can FINALLY go back to New York and "crush some Kraang!"

One thing, though: A lot of people brought up the Tigerclaw vs. Donnie thing as being odd. To me, I think it's foreshadowing. When I first came up with the theory of Shredder targeting Donnie, I immediately pictured Donnie being hunted by Tigerclaw and eventually those two would have to face off.

Besides, their fight seemed a bit different from the others. Raph, Leo, and Mikey's fights all ended with their adversaries turning into a puff of smoke. Yet we just saw Tiger Claw get thrown into the abyss. I was expecting Donnie to throw him against the mountain and an avalanche would crush Tiger Claw, making him go "poof."

I'm probably looking WAY to much into this, but what if this is almost like a sign that Donnie's REAL fight with Tigerclaw won't end in one round? I'm not expecting Leo to take out Shredder in one round either, but it shows that he is able to defeat him. I just think that when they get to New York and if our "Target: Donnie" prediction comes true, then Tiger Claw will hunt Donnie and Donnie is going to have to remember this confrontation.

I figured that Donnie was paired up against Tigerclaw for about...four reasons. First, Leo had to face Shredder. :P Second, Tigerclaw is second in command...and in all honesty and I blame the OT for this, but I always viewed Donnie as second after Leo. Third, to show brain beats brawn. Fourth...Phil LaMar wasn't around to voice Stockman. ...but I like your theory and speculation more. Maybe it is foreshadowing. It would make sense that Shredder would use Tigerclaw to try and get Donnie.

Stockman's not much of a challenge, brain- or brawn-wise.

Donnie's Shaman mask was pretty cool. I liked it and it fit. Those types of masks do symbolize knowledge and wisdom...and he is the smart one and seriously, his looking down at Tigerclaw while wearing it...that looked kind of badass. lol

Look out, Casey, Donnie's copying your style now.

Oh, something I did dislike...I really wish it would've been two episodes as opposed to one. They could've done more with each turtle that way. Everything did feel as if it happened much too fast.

I agree, in that it felt rather rushed and overly-compact. I wish they'd had more time for a more emotional campfire scene. And I, too, would have liked to have seen the personal journey of each turtle, but let's face it, if they did that, people would be kvetching that they were tired after the first two and whining about getting back to New York already. They could have spread it over two eps, though, and that would have satisfied people.

Glad someone else saw the Sean Astin/Goonies connection.

Also, on the "nobody gets emotional but Mikey" complaint, what, [I]nobody[I] saw Raph getting choked up?

Someone mentioned the training montage music sounding familiar... it bears a strong likeness to "Lord of the Dance" mixed with some Revolutionary War piccolo cadence... wish I could find a link to the one I'm thinking of...

Now we're talking! What a wonderful episode. I love it when they explore the spiritual / inner-strength stuff. Shame it ended, really. It could have done with being a two-parter so that it could have explored the arc of each turtle's journey more.

My only criticism is that inevitably there will be a lack of perpetuity to the states each turtle achieved, with maybe Leo being the exception. I don't for a minute believe that Mikey will now be focused, or that Donnie will become less-reliant on his mind (he didn't seem to learn the lesson to any great length after Monkey Brains in Season 1) and I definitely don't think that Raphael has over-come his anger issues. Maybe that's because Leo's journey carried the most meaning because of what he'd been through, and the episode felt very Leo-centric. I'd still like to see the others facing something far more destructive in their emotional development.

Incredible episode! I loved the reference to the 1990 film with Splinter appearing at the campfire, and how each turtle was overcoming their own weaknesses. The fight scenes with the foot clan and Shredder were excellent. The outfits they had were pretty cool, too, and I can see why they included those in order to sell more action figures, lol.

The end was awesome, too. Glad to see the turtles are finally ready to go back! :tgrin:

This episode was everything I expected it to be, I loved it. I think(hope) the reason why Master Splinter didn't get too emotional was because he wanted his boys to focus on what was needed to be done. I'm thinking(hoping) when they finally find Splinter it'll be emotional mess. It was neat seeing the turtles wearing different gear. My opinion about Donnie's mask(seems to be the unpopular one) was that it actually nothing to with Casey what so ever. Donnie's mask was a stone shaman mask to represent who he is and help him on his journey. I think Casey mostly wears his hockey mask to look cool. Oh and one more thing, that little firefly thing that flew in front of Mikey and Mikey's reaction to it, was adorable, it reminded me of a little kitten.

Ditto on Raph, and Leo, too. They were all trying not to cry. (Though you can't see Donnie's face, I'm guessing he was, too.)

Hmmm, you might be right about that music- it "did" sound kind of like Lord of the Dance.

Also I'm not dead".

Haha, yea pretty much.

However, this was the first episode from season three that didn't make me groan in misery. I do think they could have cut out several of the complete crap episodes and expanded more on this one by giving each turtle an episode for exploring their own "spiritual journey". I said "about %?*!#¥$ time" outloud when Leo said they were going back to New York. If this episode would have sucked also, then I was gonna give this show 2 more episodes to try and redeem itself before I gave up completely and canceled the series off my DVR. Hope is renewed. But the remainder of season three will need to be incredible in order to fully redeem itself.

Andre the Black Nerd said in his review that Leo was telling Donnie to let April go because she doesn't like him more then just a friend. But I didn't see it that way though I can see where he would get that impression.

I saw it more along the lines of that one episode of Avatar the Last Airbender where Aang was learning how to open his chakra so he can access and control the avatar state. The last chakra he had to open he had to let go of his earthly attachments and he refused to do it because it meant that he would lose his attachments to Katara. And it's only when he realized he had no choice but to use the avatar state he finally decides to let go of his attachment to Katara.

So Leo was telling Donnie to let go of April because he needed to leave his fears and earthly attachments behind. And that was also likely why he didn't allow April to join them on the Spirit Quest, because Donnie would be too distracted by her to really achieve what he needed to learn. And he just used the pillow excuse of the "Only real ninja are going on this quest." rather then saying "Sorry April, but you will be a distraction."

I just wish I remembered enough about TMNT III for me to actually catch anything they may use if they do reference stuff from movie 3...unless the acient Japanese guys started dancing to Tarzan Boy (which is the most memorable part for me for that movie). *Looks at what I just wrote* Hm...pathetic, isn't it? :p

So, just rewatched this ep. As pointed out, Mikey's kill on Rahzar was kind of brutal. Did look like he sliced his throat (but we all know Mikey has a dark side. :-P ). Anyway, seems that Mikey and Raph were the only ones who literally "killed" their spiritual bosses. Leo and Donnie really didn't, when you think about it. As mentioned before, Donnie just knocked Tigerclaw off the mountain, no poof...and he does have a rocket on his back. Leo injured Shredder and he went away.

Wonder if that's foreshadowing something...or giving some insight into the characters.I really liked this episode. :) The deer had an awesome design, as were the Turtles' new outfits.

Not sure why anyone would think that Leo's leg injury was all in his mind, but okay. Sure.Because when he wasn't thinking about his leg or focusing on it, he was fine. The last episode and the Dream Beaver ep showed that. Whenever he felt discomfort, his confidence seemed to falter and drop, meaning that maybe he was making a bigger deal out of his leg than what it was. Yes, he does have the physical injury, but his lack of confidence wasn't helping it either, meaning that part of it was in his mind and he had to conquer that. "Mind over matter". The mind is a very strong thing.

Personally, I felt that this episode and spirit quest was more for Leo's sake than for the other three. Leo needed to get his confidence back.

Leo did shoot Shredder in the eye, which could be considered fatal since the brain lays right behind it (hence why they used to complete lobotomies by finagling an ice pick through the eye socket *shudders*). It actually makes me wonder if they're foreshadowing that Shredder is going to be defeated in some sort of unconventional manner.

Never underestermate Mikey, he can be badass when he needs to be. He probably killed that Kraang that he wore on his head. He tried pulling Tigerclaws arm towards that saw blade in Wrath of Tiger Claw.

I expect they got away with it because the animation was done really fast (I had to watch it a few times just to see how Mikey destroys Rahzar) and also Rahzar was a spirit so wouldn't be possible if he was real.

It's definitely a kraang, a skull at least, you can tell where it's mouth was and the "sensor spikes" that come out of their heads are still there. Plus Mikey has Kraang tentacles wrapped around his arms. I'm convince he's the one that killed it, but, what I want to know is what he did with the remains. If he discarded them or ate them. I'm totally going with he ate them, I mean he did eat pizza face. Which I think was a fever dream, but, he it still means he thought of it.

Loved how cinematic this episode felt. Just adds to reasons I hope we get a Nick Toon Movie at some point (would love to see something like this on the big-screen). Loved the event feel and the outfits which suprisingly felt natural to me (and not like a blatant toy-op). Only thing that bugged me was the lack of love & affection in Splinter's appearance. I get that he's trying to harden them up for their big return to NY, but he hasn't seen them in months... Most of all, loved seeing an episode that felt substantial & not like filler (there's been way too many episodes of just f**king around). Can't wait for the next.

I'm on two fence on this one. I mean, it was great, I loved all the action scenes, the Goonies shout-out, Leo finally deciding to stop giving himself excuses, the campfire and its reference to the movie, their new weapons and clothes, and them finally ready to be badasses in NY again but...but it was far too damn short and rushed.

And this is where I find myself hating "A Foot too Big" even more than I initially did because I wish that they never made it so that the Vision Quest was a two-parter allowing each Turtle to struggle more to get to the point where they overcome their weaknesses. I found that, except for Leo, the fights resolution was too fast "Oh, I'm getting my ass kicked. Remember what Splinters says. OK, I master it, done".

Of course, that's a bit nipticky, considering all the goods it brought otherwise, but I wouldn't rank this ep as high as "The Invasion" or "The Gauntlet", which remains one of my favorite to date.

I also fear continuity amnesia from the writers, I'm not sure the "lessons" each Turtle went under will stick, especially for Mikey and Raph, for whom I feel the writers don't know how to make them actually evolve.

But hey, all in all, I liked this ep far more than most this season, and am ready to get back to NY.

Well in this very episode he acknowledges the Shinto religion and believes the deer could be a spirit so....

Really it was just bad writing. Since Splinter said he relied too much on his mind they just felt they had to show him doing something nerdy. Ya know, in case you've never seen the show before. Or the effing theme song.

To echo everyone else in here: loved this episode. Probably among my top five of the series. Okay, maybe top ten.

Donnie vs Tigerclaw was really interesting to me. I've always seen Donnie as the weakest fighter on the team, always using "brain" to make up for his lack of "brawn" if that makes any sense. I was really glad to see the writers address that. Love to see that fight in the future.

The main problem I have with this episode was it should have been 4-5 episodes. It should have been single character episodes exploring their growth as ninjas. Instead, we got rushed "summaries" with action sequences.Yeah, I think this is reoccurring problem of TMNT 2012 series. Last time they did this was in season II episodes 25-26 (Invasion), where they packed invasion of Kraang, Leo's defeat by the Foot, Splinter's showdown with the Shredder, etc... all cramped in two measly episodes. It was terribly rushed and appeared as just glances at different storylines, which don't belong together.

As for the episode, let's just say the whole mysticism thing was a tad too corny for me. The need to explain everything to excess is really annoying. The children watching your show won't abandon it if you leave one little thing unexplained - they might actually use their brains to figure stuff for themselves *sigh* Other than that, I did like fighting scenes, particularly Mike's and Leo's. Mike's part I liked 'cause he kicked butt (a rarity for him), and Leo's because it was most enjoyable to watch out of them all. Shredder sure whooped his ass, lol - props to thread opener for "Seth get bitch-slapped by a deer." XD. Speaking of Seth, after producing positively horrible performance in "Eyes of Chimera", I'd say he's getting on a road of becoming better. Just him speaking in a higher voice made him more bearable to listen. Also, Seth should make funny noises and joke more, that way he sounds younger and more in character.

Hit it right on the noise for me, instead of giving us 7 horrible horror themed episodes it would have been great to see them explore this one episode further.

Mikey is one of the (if not the) most hardcore turtle imo. Pizza Face episode is one of the examples that he can brutalized a mutant and finally threatened it to a firey death in a furnace. Looking back in Season 1, the episode after Rad Brad betrayed him, he's all hell bent on trying to kill him - watch as his kusarigasama dove from above going for Brad's head!! :teek:

When that episode came out, with Mikey in Dimension X and the promo pics showed him with the hollowed out Kraang on his head, I wasn't surprised at all. I'd been saying myself, Mikey has a dark side and survival skills.

In the second Rat King episode, Mikey kept punching that one rat while trying to bait it with cheese. I found that kind of...morbid. Pizzaface (still say it was a dream) also showed he had a dark side, especially with that oven scene AND he threw the pizza in the freezer with ICK. That pizza was screaming for help, but he ignored it. In Wrath of Tigerclaw, even in the original thread, though some disagreed, I even felt Mikey was trying to kill him by pulling him towards the blade...but I also felt that all four were trying to fight to kill that time too....as you were saying.

And he did try to stab Bradford, as you mentioned...

...so yeah, his taking out Rahzar in the way he did for his vision quest didn't shock me or surprise me at all. This is why Mikey's character is so interesting to me as this show continues on....for stuff like this.

Oh and even in this episode, the way he took out that one Foot Soldier before vision Rahzar showed up was kind of...dark. The way he killed it was extreme...imo.

Hey, wouldn't it be hilariously ironic if Ciro trolled all of us and gave us a "Dark Mikey" arc instead? >< j/k

Love to see that fight in the future.Maybe that's why. Splinter mentioned he had to use his body and be strong like the mountain. Tiger Claw went on about being strong and Donnie being weak. Maybe that's why they put him against Tigerclaw, other than the fact that Leo had to go against Shredder.

That aside, I honestly can't picture Raph or Mikey swapping who they fought. Mikey has history with "Rad Brad". He screwed Mikey over. It's literally personal. Fishface and Raph were also stuck together that time back in season 1, so I couldn't imagine Fishface going up against Leo or Donnie. I dunno...just felt the pair ups were appropriate.

I really liked this episode. Best episode of season 3 so far. Can't wait for the next episode.

Hmm...I actually thought it would have been cool to see Mikey and Raph switch because they have such a strong history with Bradford and Xever. We've seen Mikey and Raph beat both of them multiple times in the real world. It made their quest less of a threat. Again, I loved Donnie's because not only was it a new pairing, but because Tiger Claw is actually a huge threat. And, of course, Leo had to face the Shredder.

Donnie's taken out fishface twice, once with a ball of compressed garbage in the pulverizer, and the second time with a kick to the face in the Pulverizer returns. He also took out Dogpound with a broom in Pulverizer Returns. And he technically takes out Rahzar when he smashes that sprinkler system so Rahzar, fishface, and stockman could be electrocuted.

Tiger Claw is the only villain that Donnie hasn't actually fought. Even the Spirit Version of Tiger Claw felt like Donnie wasn't worth his time. Which is why he's calling Donnie a fool in the last part of that particular battle.

Tiger Claw: And they call you the smart one?! I am twice your size and three times your strength, YOU...WILL...FALL!!!

So in other words "If you are as smart you are proclaimed to be, you should surrender."

And if Donnie is ever captured by the Foot Clan, I can see Tiger Claw tell him "Don't make things difficult on yourself, and just do what Master Shredder demands."

Looking back in Season 1, the episode after Rad Brad betrayed him, he's all hell bent on trying to kill him - watch as his kusarigasama dove from above going for Brad's head!!

And the reason he attacked Bradford in that manner was because Bradford had just hurt Donnie. If you look at the moments before that attack you see Mikey watching Donnie fighting Bradford. When when Donnie is making a lunging attack, Bradford moves out of the way and uses the opening to stomp on Donnie's head. Mikey sees this with horror and then gets an expression that just says 'No one hurts my brother like that!'

The outfits and weapons.
Seeing Tiger Claw and Fish Face again.
Fish Face and Raph fighting underwater. I feel like when Xever got mutated he lost a little bit of his prowess but it would make sense as he is literally a fish out of water. We really need some more underwater battles with him. Preferably with a non-turtle like Casey, where the risk of him drowning is a lot more real.
The fact April got left behind at the farm. She's been doing my head in recently. It was good to just have a turtlecentric episode as well.
You can't go wrong with a bit of Mikey and ICK time.
How amazing was the music in this episode?!?!

Dislikes

STILL dragging out the Donnie obsession with April.
Maybe the episode could've done with a bit more time. It wasn't enough for a two parter but felt a bit rushed for 20 minutes.
I get Fish Face vs Raph, Leo vs Shredder and Rahzar vs Mikey, but it's not like Tiger Claw has ever personally singled Donnie out. Maybe a Baxter Stockman, mocking figure would've been a bit more suitable? There's nothing a clever person hates more, than being outclevered. Or being teased for ones failures.
Such a big thing is always being made out of Raph's seemingly uncontrollable temper. Actually, he hasn't properly full-on lost it in an episode for ages. We see more of him supporting and comforting his brothers than we do, him arguing with them. Which made the whole 'focus your anger' thing seem a bit void for me.

Agree, Baxter might have been a better fit, being he's a similar tech/inventor/science sort.

Although Donnie was also intended to focus on his physical ability more than relying as much on his mind. Tiger Claw is rather challenging physically I guess that may be what that pairing was about.

Aside from Raph having past history with him, Fishface also seems to be a little bit of an instigator, so I can see how that fits along those lines as well if it's someone who might try to push his buttons and get him angry and lose focus.

OMG, I freaked out when I watched this! I admit to shrieking and fangirling and staring in awe. I was so tired of the whole "Mutant of the Week" thing. And when Splinter appeared in the blue campfire, I literally jumped up and yelled to my brother, "THAT'S FROM THE 90S MOVIE OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!" And my mom just looked at me like I was a freak :P

I like how 90s movie Splinter was always seemed weak and fragile but 2k12 Splinter is always standing upstraight full of authoritative power and lively. What a contrast.

Movie Splinter killed Shredder in 1.5 seconds flat.

Shredder was on the top of a roof and didn't see Splinter coming at all.

Oh, wow. Finally we getting somewhere. An awesome episode. Animation and directorship are incredible and it is well written. Certainly, alongside with "Eyes of Chimera" is one of the best episodes of the Season 3. Not that there is much of a competition.

And quite alot of references to boot: to the first movie (campfire scene) and to the TMNT'07 (Leo the caped wanderer). Raph chanelling his inner "Predator" was awesome. And Mike totally killed Rahzar.

I am seriously behind on this show. I think I finally watched this episode last week maybe. It was damn good though compared to the last few I saw. I actually made it all the way through this one.
