"Return to New York" - Thoughts & Predictions Thread

It's easily in the Top 5 of most anticipated episodes in the show so far.

We've got about a week and some people have been putting it out there about what may happen.

So figured I'll just make a thread and let everybody weigh their two cents on everything that may go down.

Will they find Karai? Will they find Splinter? Will they even succeed? Will they be in more trouble by the end of the episode? Is it all a trap? Is someone getting kidnapped/turtlenapped?

Have at it.

-Karai will be probably be absent.
-Splinter will be involved in some way.
-The turtles will win and save NY.
-NY will be royally *bleep*ed up after the whole war and stuff.
-Turtles rest after battle or maybe train.

You know the usual. :)

We'll see. I personally don't expect anything too crazy. I know the title carries a lot of weight, but I get the feeling it's more of a reference than an adaption, mainly because it's a single episode I guess.

Hope I'm wrong.

I predict that it will have the length of a mid season finale like Wormquake! and that we will have break after that.

Personally, I was hoping that we get the Snake Hunt episode before Return to New York but you never know what will happen until it does. The schedule could change at the last minute. :ohwell:

Right now would be the worst time to have a break since show has regain it's momentum from Spirit Quest episode.

I hope the return to new york is a bit longer. I don't think they will go on hiatus again as they just came back from one a week ago.

I don't know what people are expecting, Shredder probably won't even be in the episode.

From what we can tell they just come back to see the city all mutated and the Kraang around again

My guess is that Agent Bishop will appear. Not every character gets released concept art before making their debut.

Maybe The Kraang will gradually get evicted from The Big Apple.

I'm not expecting too much from this episode (though I hope I'm proven wrong). We know that the Krang plotline won't be resolved. I doubt we'll see Karai either - I'd say they're saving all of that for Episode 10. I'm actually expecting to not see Shredder or his henchmutants until Episode 10 either. Ditto Splinter - I'm guessing that Episode 10 will basically be the guys going to find Splinter, and that's how it ties into the Karai/snake-hunt angle with soon-to-be Bebop and Rocksteady.

So really... I'm just expecting more Krang stuff from Return To New York. Maybe a trip back to their old lair to retrieve some things. Action and fight scenes, but nothing super-exciting and no major resolution to anything. April doing some whining about her dad. Casey probably voicing concern over his family (despite the fact that I don't recall this even being mentioned during the Northampton episodes).

I'm kind of burnt out on the Krang thing tbh, so I'm more hanging in for Episode 10 than this one.

I don't think they'll defeat Shredder in this episode, honestly. They may confront him, but they need to deal with the Kraang first. I think that they'll return to New York, get the flavor of things, then go looking for Karai in order to see if she has any information about Shredder, or possible the Kraang: She did have a habit of spying on them before she was mutated, and I don't see that having changed.

I think it will be something like the ReBoot episode Megaframe:


The heroes return to see their home in ruins with the Kraang in control
There is a resistance going on between the Kraang/Shredder and the survivors of the Kraang Invasion, possibly all the mutants and/or the earth military and special ops organizations like the EPF
The Kraang and the Foot find out the turtles are in NY and prepare to give them a "warm welcome"
The turtles are reunited with their old allies like Splinter and maybe a few others like Murakami
The turtles plan to take down the Kraang and ensure they can never get back here again

Long story short, this is going to be one shell of an episode (I really hate the chimera episode for making this one postpone).

I know the show doesn't rely on realism but I hope that the invasion hasn't been going on in New York all this time.

Obviously we haven't seen much of human society since they've been isolated around the farm but TV seems to be running with no news on attacks on New York and we've seen the internet working with no signs that civilization is trouble as you'd think if there was a war raging in the city.

I'm hoping that it's played that after crippling Kraang Prime's giant body that it's played that the invasion had a momentary pause and is just starting up in time for - or because of the turtles return.
