View Full Version : Reactions/Comments to the Nick "TMNT Season 3 Official Info Thread"
Refractive Reflections

So after noticing how easy it is for the thread to snowball into an off-tangent discussion, I decided to test out this thread and leave it for reactions and comments to the official Season 3 thread (http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=49208). It's for reactions and comments that members feel are worth posting, but yet not worth making another thread based on just a small piece of information, which only leads to maybe less than a page of comments.
Anyways, the idea is to quote whatever piece of official, non-commentary information from the official info thread (http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=49208) and then post your opinion.
For example:
------------------------
Episode 10 description:
S03, E10 Serpent Hunt
As the Turtles search for Karai, they are forced to deal with a city filled with Kraangdroids as well as Zeck and Steranko.
2/01/2015
I hope the Turtles finally...
(Add all of your speculations, comments, etc.)
----------------------
Then somebody can reply:
---------
I hope the Turtles finally...
(Add all of your speculations, comments, etc.)
I don't think that because the Turtles will be too concerned with...
------
...You get the idea. :P
Therefore when somebody goes through the "TMNT Season 3 Offical Info Thread" they can solely read through whatever Nick, the staff, crew, TV guides, and official sources have stated about the show via members' posts. Hopefully this can ease the clutter of the "TMNT Season 3 Official Info Thread" and the moderators can then justifiably delete any post that's not official information in that thread while still appeasing the members to express their opinion on the show's developments.
I completely agree with this idea. That info thread gets so chock full of theories and hopes that it's hard to find the actual new information.
Great idea!

I have a feeling most of the screen time of the episode is mostly going to switch back and forth between the turtles and Anton and Steranko.:ohwell:
Karai might be the focus but we not going to see a lot of her and probably is going to remain on the loose for the rest of the season.
But I would love to be wrong.

I just want a goddamn schedule. If they give us THIS many breaks, I don't understand why they can't at least give us the month that the show comes back. I mean, we all knew it was coming back from its winter break in January thanks to playmates, but we usually don't find out until a few weeks before.
My guess: late March or early April.
Trying to put this in the right place so I don't crud up the Official Season 3 thread... the breaks are irritating as hell. Maybe it's normal for shows to do this; I dunno - I rarely watch ongoing shows as they air on tv (this is literally the only show I do it with); every other tv series I watch, I just wait til the whole season's done and then watch it in one hit on dvd or online.
Maybe I need to do that with this season.

This has nothing to do with season 3, it's just something that popped in my head a few days ago concerning season 2, and I couldn't really find a recent thread to put this in.
Well, I was thinking about how Nick toon likes to add tidbits and situations that were already around in other series, and I was wondering, in Slash and Destroy, when Leo was with the little girl, playing tea time, and doing something that is a bit uncharacteristic for him, you think that was a bit of a nod to 2k3? Like in the episode when Raph accidentally fell off a roof and landed near an old lady who was blind, asked for his help and treated him to some tea afterwards, which he accepted. This was something that was a bit, uncharacteristic for Raph, but like Leo and the Tea Time girl, because of their tough guy images, it was an endearing moment for him and the fans? You think Tea Time girl was a nod to the Elderly Lady in 2k3?
Powder
02-04-2015, 10:10 PM
I do not think it was a nod by any means. Virtually every series has had a moment like that.

I doubt it but ages ago Rob said there was something where Raphael and Donnie (his versions) spoke to each other. Now obviously that didn't happen in Manhattan Project and we all thought Rob had maybe got his wires crossed or something happened during editing.
Now I know that more recording has taken place (or maybe that's a picture of a recording that took place a while ago) I wonder if that's what is happening now.
Maybe the battle for NYC episodes that are coming up will feature various TMNT versions pulling together across portals to save the city?
Ciro said at toy for tots that he was working on a cross over were the new turtles meat the OT turtles.
So does anybody know if the plot would be very similar to Turtles Forever? (In other words a "Turtles Forever 2") ...Or would they just make a transdimensional visit of sorts? Because weren't some of us misled (http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?p=1166576#post1166576) into thinking "The Manhattan Project" was going to be the big crossover event considering all the hype, before it was shown to be a very brief cameo of the OT Turtles? ...Maybe it was just me who thought that. :P

I don't know, but however they appear, I don't care as long as I get to see them. Maybe this the part where Donnie and Raph talk to each other since Rob mentioned that, and since we didn't get that in "Manhattan Project" maybe we'll get that here.

S03, E12,13 Battle for New York 3/15/2015
Leo is suspicious when Slash emerges leading a team called the Mighty Mutanimals; the Turtles must brave the bizarre world of Dimension X to save the enslaved people of New York.
S03, E14 Casey Jones vs. the Underworld 3/22/2015
Casey Jones thinks he can take on the criminal underworld on his own, but soon discovers that he is in over his head.
Guess we know what that spin-off will be about now, huh? ;P
Makes sense now with so many mutants created on the Nick show. But will the rate of introduced mutants increase even further now? ...If any of you loathed the "Mutant of the Week" format and overabundance of them, brace yourself for even much more in the Nick universe, just in case...

Even if they tried to get there hands on the retromutagen, They are gonna mess up and the Turtles get it back, I don't think they are just gonna show up as mutants for one episode and change back to normal in the next. These versions of Bebop and Rocksteady are such a huge departure of the original versions, Who embraced there mutation and caused all sorts of problems with the Turtles.
It is going to take a while for us, to get used to these new incarnations of the characters on TV.

I doubt they will get their hands on the mutagen, but they will certainly expose Donatello as the creator of the retromutagen and lead the Turtles into creating the Turtle Blimp.
As for Karai I don't think the Turtles will succeed if giving her retromutagen either, or if they do it will stabilize her mutation. But she will still have the ability to transform into a mutant.

Guys, I just had an awesome dream last night! In it, the turtles were sent into space somehow (maybe the time scepter goes wack?), and they arrive in a Kraang ship. The Kraang here not only seem nicer, but have perfect English as well. (Maybe Utroms?) The reason why they're planning on going to Earth is because it's an "oasis to protect them from the conquerors". I take it that these conquerors are either the Federation, the Triceratons, or both. Anywho, these Kraang can't go to Earth now because they saw how the invasion failed, and they would never be accepted into Earth Society (or something like that). Karai is also there for some reason, and these Kraang create a retromutagen to change her back while the turtles jog her memory. Meanwhile, Leo (who apparently was left behind in New York), is fighting Shredder, and he seems to be winning.
Maybe this dream covers events in Season 4? I doubt it, though- my dream also turned Karai into a kitten, and Alphonse Elric was there. He used alchemy to transform mutagen into retromutagen and was just chillen' with everybody.

I am aware he knows he's from the Foot Clan. But what I am saying is every time the Turtles go back in time to Japan, it puts things in motion for themselves. And the results of the action isn't always intentional.
For example in the Mirrage Comics there is one story line where they go back in time and teach ninjitsu to some people and the people they teach begin the Foot Clan.
In the OT there is an Episode where Shredder wants to go back in time to kill an Ancestor of Splinter, Splinter won't be born and thus the Turtles wouldn't be mutated. However this said Ancestor is founder of the Foot Clan and in destroying him the Foot Clan also wouldn't exist.
And in the IDW's Turtles in time story, the second part has the Turtles go back in time to Japan. They encounter Hamato Yoshi and the rest of the family they reincarnate from. Leo wants to kill the Shredder to save the lives off all who will die and suffer at his hands. And Raph tells him that as much as he agrees that the Shredder should be taken out. They can't do it because it would not only erase their lives, but the lives of all they've saved and helped in their time. After they leave that time Shredder talks to Kitsune about how Demons attacked his clan and he wanted to know why. Kitsune then tells him that demons attacking is a sign of betrayal and the Shredder says "Fine, the next time someone disagrees with me...they will die." Thus setting up the eventual execution of Hamato Yoshi and his entire family.
So it would fit the same pattern if the Turtles go back in time to Japan in that Turtles in time episode. They encounter Oroku Saki before he became the Shredder. And then some point the Turtles talk to themselves or maybe to Hamato Yoshi's father about how Shredder isn't really a member of the Hamato Clan but a child adopted from the Foot Clan. Oroku Saki over hears them and thus paves the way for the Shredder to be created.
Nice official info Victory_angel. Too bad you forgot were to post these speculation/reaction comments.

Why do you think they would just go for a 7 month/one year hiatus? That's too long for Nick standards. The episode is already finished guessing from the footage. Season 3 is done now. By the time something like that ends, season 4 is already done.

If that were to happen, they might as well rename them Tokka or something else. Perhaps if Raphael were to mutate and if the mind control serum works, I'd expect something emotional building into the finale. I still wouldn't like Super Shredder to come this early, he seems more like a series finale enemy than throwing him into a cartoon for the first time.
To get back on topic though, they're really coming down to the wire and the Mega Shredder episode I'm looking forward to, as well as the time travel episodes.
I did have that speculation about Leo's swords being destroyed in the Return to New York Episode. In return to New York we see one of Leo's swords cut in half and the other falls into the mutagen. We have seen his swords lost and destroyed before, but this is the first time where Leo has treated their destruction as though it was a serious loss.
Raph and Donnie are as close to Leo's side as Leo's swords. Heck the two of them are practically his war council. So the speculation was that the loss of those swords were meant to be foreshadowing the loss of his brothers. Such as one (Raph) falling into the mutagen and one (Donnie) getting seriously wounded.

Yeah, that could be foreshadowing, or it could just be something that happened. But I think they are going to witness Shen's death, and that's going to be very emotional. Maybe that's the reason Leo sneaks away to Shredder's Lair to stop him once and for all since they can't change history when they go back in time.

Yes, I hope that's the reason Leo goes to Shredder, both Karai and Tang Shen are just too much for him to handle and as a result he wants to do whatever he can to save Karai. Though I am very curious to see what his reasoning is for ignoring the team and going in alone, considering he's the turtle who calls the shots. He of all turtles should know better, and I really hope there's some sort of consequence, even if it is just Raph yelling at him for being so stupid.

the show has a tendency 2 have consequences on a lot of their actions, which is even more reason that I think 1 of them will be affected by some downfall, not only that but like I said in another post, its 1 of the tendencies the writers have been putting in the show as a way of further motivation on developing a cure 4 whatever
haven't seen this brought up yet but back when watching clash of the mutanimals the day it was aired, as/after raph spit out the worm, the gauntlets he was wearing so conveniently disappeared, aside from being a technical error, that sort of stuff doesn't just happen 4 no reason and after seeing that ep summary, it seems more and more like the dark raph stuff isn't over w/
not getting any hopes up 4 it though

Yes, Leo will probably get injured again if he has to face a mutated Shredder, but I think the reason he goes it alone is because the others and Splinter think it's too risky. Leo wants to listen to them, but after what he's seen, he just can't take it anymore and knows that the only way to end this is to kill Shredder himself. So that's why he goes to Shredder's lair and tries to take him out.
I'd be happy to see more "Dark Raph" stuff in the future, mostly because it's a solid concept (the "Dark Leo" stuff in the IDW comic was great) and it really wasn't well-realized in that episode. I'd prefer something more complicated and with further-reaching consequences than how quickly and easily the brainwashing was resolved there. It seems more likely we'll get that with Karai, but the core characters tend to get reset to "normal" status very quickly in this series.

Depends if they decide the desired 'up bladed' armour is built in or is a new suit to fit a newly mutated Shredder.
The latter is easy and would simply require him mutate with something with traits of high strength to size ratio (even an ant would serve in this, but presumably you'd be aiming for something more human like - perhaps a gorilla?)
Assuming the latter though;... well running from the lines in the Mutagen theory thread, to make a Super Shredder would require something with a serrated skin or exoskeleton and again a heightened strength ratio.
Sharks are one possibility - their skin is essentially scaled 'teeth' and could be boosted by fusing with his existing armour during the process. There is also some precedent for this in the comics as I understand.
- not to mention that we have already had a Nicktoons precedent for Shredder's dna to be fused with marine life.
Insects of various varieties - anything with spiky or edged exoskeleton (Kabuto beetle maybe?)
Ironically there are even turtles with serrated edges to their shells. Though I doubt Shredder would accept being mutated with one of those (of course it may not be entirely his choice).

Hmm, actually, that could be even cooler! What if HE becomes Tokka?! Think about it- Tokka was originally a snapping turtle, which is one of the toughest and most vicious turtle species. And their shells DO sort of resemble his blades around the edge. What if he made himself into a more powerful version of the turtles themselves? Not only would it be an insult to them AND Splinter, but he'd be even harder for them to beat. Could work.

It would fit so well, especially if it's him doing it because would be poetic irony. His metal armor would 'merge' with his shell, skin and beak, making him super duper deadly. I think it would have to come after he's really badly injured though, right now he's juuust on this leeward side of sanity to not try anything that desperate yet. Being badly injured by Splinter (and it would have to be Splinter as it's who he hates the worst) would send him over the edge for sure, and he won't care what it takes anymore, so long as it helps him kill Splinter.

I dont recall seeing an image of one from any of the comics I've seen. If he's potentially appearing in Nicktoons, I was wondering what kinds of precedents that there have been in other iterations?
At the moment, it seems that they may not need to mutate him at all. Just give Nick Shredder the Bayturtle Shredder armour.

Same here Duckie, I'd love to see it too! :D
As far as a Super-Shredder being in other stuff, has there been? Maybe because the idea is 'old' it feels more 'classic,' despite only showing up as an idea twice.
Maybe Duckie's idea is a way to make the idea feel new again, at least in regards to the 'usual' where Shredder just turns into some giant human hulk.

I haven't seen it beyond SOTO and SAINW. But I think Nick could totally pull it off if Shredder feels he has to mutate himself to get stronger and defeat his enemies.

I ask in particular because looking at the pics for the super shredder, its only really a more vicious looking set of armour combined with a much stronger physique - Shredder is still basically human (just bigger and stronger). There's a couple of clear pics on google for his action figure/resin statuettes that really indicate this.
Seems like an easy route would be to just upgrade the suit without even worrying about the mutagen angle - particularly when allied with baxter.

True, but as I said, updating the armor won't be enough. He wants to eliminate the Turtles for good and maybe the only way he's going to do it is if he mutates himself to become stronger than they are.

Thanks guys! Now I really want to write it. Strangely enough, I had another idea this morning for a flashback story about the turtles'and Splinter's "birthday" or mutation day (in my AU).

alright,
Why are the turtles wearing LARP outfits in the new episodes??
(it's not like it's a good disguise or anything)

Don't no, we will have to find out why, when the episode airs.

I just remembered this thread and how it's made for the sole purpose of not crowding up the official season 3 info thread.
That aside, with the recent information out, my mind is all over the place. I'm still not too certain if some of this stuff is supposed to happen in season 3 or 4 though, like the Triceratons showing up. I think the time travel stuff is for season 3, right? Mega Shredder too. So much speculation can be made.
I know it was mentioned there, but I do have this feeling that Bradford and Xever are facing their end, which is a shame because I feel they could've done more with Xever's character. Bradford I could always see as remaining loyal to Shredder...Xever on the other hand I could see going "rogue", so to speak. He struck me as the type that would eventually get sick of being treated like crap all the time by the others.
I feel that all four turtles will have to use what they learned from their spirit quests to defeat Mega Shredder.
I hate the fact that there's no mention of Mutagen Man...but maybe something will happen regarding him that just wasn't mentioned.
I really wish Baxter was acting on his own. Working for Shredder (forcefully), but with a plan to double-cross all of them to get his humanity back. To be honest, I feel Baxter should try the same thing he did in the Lonely Mutation of Baxter Stockman, only somehow tricking Shredder into the vat of mutagen instead...wow, what if that episode was foreshadowing that giant mega shredder thing that the turtles will have to face later on?
With Renet joining up and them traveling to the past to see the Hamato clan before Saki went all "HOW DARE YOU TAKE THE GIRL I LIKE WHO DOESN'T LIKE ME BUT LIKES YOU AWAY FROM ME AND HOW DARE YOUR FATHER TAKE ME IN AND CARE FOR ME LIKE A SON AFTER DEFEATING MY OLD CLAN!" and stuff. I can't help but wonder if the Turtles will accidentally screw something up in the past that will affect everyone's future....not necessarily one where they wouldn't exist...just something small.
Just so many opportunities.

Mega Shredder too. So much speculation can be made.I think Mega Shredder and the Triceratons were mentioned for Season 3. I think Mega Shredder is right after the two known time travel episodes and the Triceraton debut is right after the 'Creeping Doom.' I have heard of the titles, but I can't remember what they are. :)
Edit: The Mega-Shredder one is 'Attack of the mega Shredder!" episode 21 and the Triceraton one is "Dinosaurs seen in Sewers" which airs September 20th.
I know it was mentioned there, but I do have this feeling that Bradford and Xever are facing their end, which is a shame because I feel they could've done more with Xever's character. I feel that all four turtles will have to use what they learned from their spirit quests to defeat Mega Shredder.I'm wondering if this isn't because they've recently been adding all of these high name actors and want to keep things within budget. Killing off a couple characters is pretty much the easiest way, plus there is also the possibility of some of them starting to have a lot of time taken up by other shows. Clancy Brown I know voiced Savage Oppress (Darth Maul's brother) in the Clone Wars series, since Rebels has been approved for more seasons he could have been re-hired to voice a new major character on it (maybe an Inquisitor) and wouldn't have enough time for both anymore. Xever's VA I'm not as sure, but since Xever didn't seem to be featured as much once Tigerclaw came along, they could be phasing him out too.
I hate the fact that there's no mention of Mutagen Man...but maybe something will happen regarding him that just wasn't mentioned.I hope they do something with him too, maybe he is one of the weird keys to stopping Mega Shredder. The guy has a weird composition from being fused with mutagen itself, especially with the jigsaw puzzle that will be Mega Shredder, at least in regards to vat mutagen, and whatever mutagen is contained in the bodies of his henchmen.
You might be right, that could be how Mega Shredder is created. Baxter attempts to become Super Baxter by merging with Shredder in the vat, but one or both of his henchmen try to rescue Shredder and both get pulled in during the struggle. The mutagen predictably reacts, fusing all of their bodies into one hideous blob instead.
Just so many opportunities. It's always a possibility... or they could change things that become their own version of events in a time loop. Tang Shen might not have originally died without their interference, but the Turtles showing up could have been the thing that 'accidentally' led to Shredder learning about his true heritage, thus leading up to the big angry fight and Tang Shen's death.
Since you mentioned that this might not be the end of Shredder, I'm wondering if events in the Mega Shredder episode turn him into Super Shredder? I'm not sure how they will stop Mega Shredder, but he could be left in a form after the defeat that is still mostly himself, but with some traits of Rahzar, Baxter, and Xever remaining. He might have the intelligence of Baxter, spines/blades covering his body like Rahzar (but still reminiscent of his old armor) and maybe tiny scales covering what was bare skin and the ability to breathe underwater. He might end up with long fangs coming out of his mouth (traits of both Xever and Rahzar) like you sometimes see on those old samurai helmets, (and most disgustingly) might have the ability to vomit acidic venom at his enemies (a 'gift' of both Xever and Baxter.)
The henchmen themselves might be reduced to an inert soupy goo after Mega Shredder's defeat, but their traits will 'live on' in their master. 8)
