Was heavily based on the IDW comics... Was brodcast on Toonami(which allows for much more adult content since its on adult swim).....was made in japanese animation...and came out around 3 years after this incarnation was finished.

Don't know how I'd feel about it being Japanese animation but I'd probably be okay with it, if I had read the IDW books. I've only read a few so far.

That would be a dream come true honestly.

I would drink champagne in the streets, reveling in my good fortune and toasting anyone in sight. My fedora would be thrown jovially into the air, and then I would give the nearest small child a five dollar bill in exchange for retrieving said hat.

what doy uo actually mean with "made in japanese animation"?

Do you refer to the actual technical style of Anime, frame rates difference compared to more western shows, budged saving techniques. or do you refer to the general look of japanese cartoons, big eyes, stylization more akin to the label "anime", or is it about having a Japanese animation studio to do the animation?

Can't be much worse than the current series we're getting right now. Nick is just terrible on some many levels. And now it's got bay turtles going on at the same time. At least it's bringing back old merchandise but series and movies wise it's a sad time to be a 'turtles' fan. As long as it has a good story/writing i'll be down for it.

That would be awesome, honestly to me it wouldn't even matter whether it was anime or even IDW, just something Turtles that isn't stuck on promoting toys and being child-friendly. I love Nick, but there are a lot of times it has me groaning too because of those things.

Uh, sure there are some major problems with it but why is it "just terrible on so many levels"?

What are you smoking the Nick Cartoon is awesome. They just brought in Bebop & Rocksteady. Its a hell of a lot better than The Next Mutation.

No offense intended to other countries and animation styles, but ya lost me at non-Western animation style.

See now, I've never actually looked it up but I've always said over the years it felt like their frame rate was lower. One of the things that always bugged me about the 'anime' style...

IDW with western style animation, sign me up.

Yup. Anime don't just mean that it comes from Japan, or have that stylized design most japanese animation have.

The tecnical ways of how it's animated are also coined as Anime. such as a lower frame per second in anumation and other technoqies made to lower teh cost of animating.

Like, the Studio Chibli movies don't necessary fall under the category of "Anime" due to their higher animation frames.

Didn't know the 'anime' term had such a wide varying use, very interesting.

Ironically, and I intend no offense to those who enjoy it, but in total honesty the use of fewer frames always made it feel a bit cheap to me. And now I find out it really is true and for cutting costs/corners? o.O Yeah... lol 3D may inherently be more expensive, esp/at least in cases like the Nick show, but I love the fluid motion that medium is capable of.

Anime TMNT? Nah. Animated in the style of IDW or ATLA/Korra? Yeah.

^ Pretty much this.

Though my dream TMNT animated series would be one directed and produced by Genndy Tartakovsky. That would be epic on so many levels. :tgrin:

Um, actually, I think ATLA/Korra IS considered anime, if I'm not mistaken. And I could totally get behind a TMNT based on IDW and done in the style of those two shows. That would be just- beautiful.

It's not. In order for a show to be considered "Anime", it has to be from Japan. Avatar/Korra, while having an anime-influenced style of animation, originated from the U.S. Therefore, it can't be considered to fall under the Anime category.

Not entirely accurate. There is Jap-anime, and US-anime, both of which employ the same styles, animation techniques, etc. Just because a series in that style isn't MADE in Japan doesn't mean it's not anime. Disney's Studio Ghibli movies are certainly anime, for example. There have been quite a few anime series or films made in the US that one would never NOT call anime. It's more about the style and the techniques used than where it came from.

It would be amazing, but I'd prefer if it didn't go full-anime style. I like the IDW look.

Avatar and Korra also have a higher fps and better animation.

Define "better animation". There are plenty of anime movies or series whose animation is leaps and bounds above anything else out there, both other anime and Western-style. GItS, Akira, and Biohunter come to mind as having superb animation, even though they meet all the other criteria. (except perhaps fps) There is a distinct difference between traditional Western animation (aka Disney, WB, Don Bluth, and others) and "anime" style, which usually has bigger eyes, more angular faces, more exotic and "flashy" character designs, and less realistic hair styles/colors. They also tend to feature younger characters in most mainstream anime (IE kids or young teens) and things like larger weapons or outlandish gear being used by characters regularly. Seriously, watch a movie like The Hobbit, and then watch Record of Lodoss Wars, where the animation is probably fairly equal in quality, but the difference in style and tone is obvious. Granted, one is a series, but the idea is there. Especially in the differences of the dragon(s) in each.

Animation as in actual animation, not design. As a part of the fps count, anime usually sacrifice smooth animation to focus in more complexity in the art (or just being cheap) and more shading.

Plus, since it originated in the U.S with English being its first language, their mouths actually match up to what they say. A:TLA/Korra is like a genre of their own, but there should be a lot more series with that style, and a TMNT one would be a great way to start.

You guys do know that anime is just the Japanese term for cartoon, right? I mean they call Sponge Bob Square Pants anime over in Japan.

Anyway I would love that since the IDW series is my favorite.

Yes, in Japan "Anime" is just short for animation, while outside of Japan "Anime" is a overall term for animation stemming from Japan, or the archetypical design style Japanese animation often have. But, "Anime" is also a term for the budget techniques Japanese animation very often incorporate, such as lowering the animation frames used.

For instance. Sponge Bob have a high fps in their animation, making it not an "Anime" on a technical term, nor is it from Japan, so it isn't a "Anime" in the layman term that "Anime" is animation coming from Japan.

oh my god that would be the greatest

really, any animated series based on IDW's TMNT would be excellent. I would watch it even if it was animated in the style of Scooby Doo

I'd prefer US animation in the style of either Campbell, or Santoluoco (spelling) but I'd watch it.

I recently watched Samurai Champloo for the first time and often found myself contemplating a TMNT series in that style. In particular I thought the way Mugen fought would be great for Mike, since his movements were random, spontaneous, and often incorporated break-dancing.
