Hello fellow members, it's the Gold Mutant, and I have a question for all of you.
Now that the 2012 series is going to be coming back in March with three new episodes (a one-hour special, Hun's debut, and Bebop and Rocksteady's first fight, oh my!!!), I was wondering what your favorite episodes are currently. Include the following: at least one episode per season, one of the hour long episodes, and either a filler episode or character specific episode. You can include any reasoning if you wish, but I'm happy to hear all your opinions. :tgrin:

Season 3's Buried Secrets is my favourite singular episode so far - mainly because it is such a massive deviation towards horror compared to just about anything else - though it does also raise a lot of other points I find interesting (April's background, her reaction to her mother, etc) - even if some of these are not really followed through later. I'm also very fond of Season 2's Wrath of Tigerclaw. In both cases I think the episodes showcase how far the show can appeal to a more mature audience without losing its essential core. Certainly I've found these eps are among the best to show to other friends of mine to introduce them to the series.
I want to say Season 2's Invasion as the best 2 parter, but I don't think it stands well enough on its own to warrant it (sadly). Honestly, I think I'd have to say Season 1's Rise of the Turtles, simply because it does a great job of getting the ball rolling.
As for character specific/filler eps... thats harder to say as I find that this show generally does a reasonably good job of balancing its characters' screen time. I want to say Season 1's Operation Breakout for being a good Donatello ep, but that would be a disservice to some cool scenes with Raph and Mikey (especially Mikey) - plus you could almost argue its almost as much of a Newtralizer episode ;)
All in all, I would have to choose Season 2's Slash and Destroy as a great character episode for Raphael.
So:
Favourite ep: Buried Secrets (3) / Wrath of Tigerclaw (2)
Favourite 2 parter: Rise of the Turtles (1)
Favourite Character ep: Operation Breakout (1) / Slash and Destroy (2)

Wormquake (The Manhattan Project), if only for the epic ending.

"The Gauntlet"
"Mousers Attack!"
"It Came From the Depths"
"I, Monster"
"TCRI"
"Mutagen Man Unleashed" (Shame that the Mutagen Man got a bit shafted since)
"The Good, the Bad, and Casey Jones"
"The Invasion"
"Within the Woods"
"Buried Secrets"
"In Dreams"
"Race with the Demon!"
Although take my list with a grain of salt, I'll admit I don't think many of these episodes are all that great.

I'll add mine as well:
Season 1: Operation Breakout, one of the strongest cases of character driven stories in the series. Donatello is my favorite Turtle in this show too (along with Leo) and this showed how far he'd go to make April happy. Along with a twist ending, the Kraang and Foot Clan joining forces, the Newtralizer's debut, and the usual good action, this was a strong episode. Really great way to set up the season finale, although Booyaka Showdown could have been better.:tsad:
Season 2: It's so close between Vengeance is Mine, Metalhead Rewired, and Wrath of Tiger Claw. I'l go with the first one, it offers an exciting adventure, opened up more storyline opportunities and remained one of the most serious and emotional episodes we've seen. Yes, if you read the rumors, the ending did become predictable but mutating Karai into a snake is both symbolic (snake hunts rat) and a major kick to hating this Shredder and feeling sympathetic to Splinter. This episode ultimately keeps viewers in suspense and offered a lot going for it no matter how you splice it. Sorry Leo, you tried your best.
Season 3: So far, Return to New York. As much as the farmhouse episodes were fun were a good change of pace (insert Egg Dragoon), this episode was dynamic to watch. We're back on track with New York with this episode, became introduced to the Elite Shredder was once more, and SPLINTER in this episode!!! Wow, I know there were different things, but this was so surprising to see him feral for the first time. The rat element has barely been played with the character, but he was still as awesome in this show as usual. If it were a two or three part episode with Vision Quest and/or Serpent Hunt, this would have been great.
Filler/Character: For filler, it's Cockroach Terminator for me as I love the Terminator series. (new film, wooo) Although less of a story, it remained a fun ride to watch. Character wise, I'd say Follow the Leader for Leo as it pushed the leader part of his character greatly with the "disrespect"(from his pov) by his brothers. It was also a solid Karai episode and brought back the Foot-Bots that were utilized in the 1980's cartoon. It pushes the Turtles greatly as a team, which is why I love this episode.
Special: As much as I enjoyed the Invasion and find it a very strong episode, I'm going with the Manhattan Project/Wormquake. It assists all the plots we've seen thus far: the love triangle, the family conflict and a little bit of the Kraang. Great character moments (Cheese phone!), Tiger Claw's debut (Eric Bauza's best role by far to me) and as usual, action to give a shell of a good time. Of course, the icing on the cake was the return of the 80s Turtles with the original cast. (it was a cameo guys, not an actual crossover, it was stated)
It was the complete package of storytelling, fun, character moments, and of course nostalgia.
Summarize:
Season 1: Operation Breakout and Cockroach Terminator (filler)
Season 2: Vengeance is Mine, Follow the Leader (character), and The Manhattan Project (special)
Season 3: Return to New York (currently, this might change)

For some reason, I have trouble remembering things when this question comes up.
A Foot Too Big, The Gauntlet, & Into Dimension X (not necessarily in that order) come to mind right away, but I'm sure there are others.
I really loved The Manhattan Project+Wormquake, but I have a soft spot for all Season 3 Farmhouse episodes. I miss them already.
Season 1: Never say Xever, The Gauntlet, (I, Monster), New Girl in Town, Alien Agenda.
Season 2: Follow the Leader, Mutagen Man Unleashed, Target April O'Neill, Metalhead Rewired, Wrath of Tiger Claw, Legend of Kuro Kabuto, Vengeance is Mine, Chinatown Ghost Story.
Season 3: Eyes of the Chimera, Return to New York, Serpent Hunt.
Special: Manhattan project/Wormquake.

It's so hard to choose just one.
Season 1: I would have to choose Metalhead. It's not the best episode but it's not the worst of the season. It introduces another iconic character from TMNT only the origin is reversed this time. It has one turtle losing faith in their weapon. And kind of hints at Donnie being a very different sort of fighter then his brothers.
Season 2: Lonely Mutation of Baxter Stockman. Official introduction of the retromutagen. Baxter is turned into a fly and ready to prove he willing to do anything in order to become human once more.
Season 3: Visionquest. It would have been better if it was longer, but it had the turtles leaving their comfort zones and facing what truly holds them back.
Favorite Filler: A Foot to Big. Donnie gets a extreme view of what his behavior towards April is like and we also get to see hints towards which suitor April is leaning.
Favorite Special: Invasion-Brings all plots to a head. Kraang have succeeded in their plan to take over the city. The turtles suffer a major defeat as well as major losses and are forced to flee the city. Setting up season 3

Hun became confirmed at one of the Comic-Cons in an episode draft. I believe it was the same one that showed the mutation of Bebop and Rocksteady. Besides the reference to the Triceratons, there was also the three Elite Shredder from both the Mirage Comics and 2003 series appeared in the Return to New York episode.

Correct. I really hope Bishop appears in the future, one of my favorite villains in the franchise.

So Hun and now the EPA? Saw the clip with Hun I like the Chinese angle makes sense. Seems like he traded the Brawn for finest. Hopefully they play his sneaky side up Hun really shined in Season 4 when he took control of Shredder ' s monopoly.
