Could TMNT do a TV Drama?

even if it was something as say adapting the IDW story, could TMNT pull it off?

Tone wise, I'd rather see something similar to The Flash than Arrow. Plus the costumes for the guys would need to be real good, at least something like the Henson costumes, with a little CGI thrown in similar to what Flash is doing with Grodd.

As long as it has that, as well as good writers and actors on board....it could be possible, I suppose.

I would say that it COULD be done right, visually awesome and tonally similar to IDW and Mirage...

But would it? Alas, I fear not.

I'm not sure, in terms of quality that could work but you'd also have to make sure the general audience can take it seriously.

The key to that might be to focus on the human characters instead of the mutant animals, but will it still be recognisable in that case?

As of right now, I'm not seeing a TV drama happening but yes it could possibly work.

Tweak the Bay designs or create some other 'realistic' design and make a mo-cap live action drama series. Of the caliber of current popular shows that are on HBO, AMC, etc. The budget might rival that of the U.S. government :tlol: but with great writing it would be epic.

I think it'd have to be more levity-based like Flash. The grimmer Arrow/Gotham wouldn't be as easy or creatively profitable to pull off.

Nah, I don't think this format would suit the TMNT in any fashion. I mean, you could probably do a show about Saki/Yoshi or Jones' uprising, but even then, it wouldn't be all that fun without some turtley stuff in it.

I don't see something like this working unless it was on Netflixm even then something more focused on Casey Jones, Purple Dragons, the Foot, maybe add at best one or two Turtles provided it had suut caliber at the very least like the Henson designs.

I would rather see something life animated films adapting some of the IDW stories, similar to the Marvel or DC animated films.

I think it'd be possible. I would love to see a dark and gritty TMNT series that marries the present IDW mythos with elements of crime drama. You can have the Foot/Shredder/Utroms as season- or series-long story arcs, but create episodes around plots like the turtles working to stop a terrorist cell in New York (or whatever).

Hell, even a mini-series type deal like "Agent Carter" would be pretty neat.

But I could totaylly see a series being awesome with the Rise of Oroku Saki from the Mirage or even IDW universe. Like a 12 part miniseries that ends with him beasting his way to the top of the Underworld. But I doubt many people would care.

Yeah, me neither, it prob wouldn't hold my interest for too long. The Turtles need 'good' foes, but other than being the ones there for the Turtles to fight my interest in most bad guys is barely a crumb in comparison to TMNT. Would be like eating chocolate chip cookies without the chocolate chips; some might still like it, but really it just isn't the same and not nearly as good.

It would definitely be a feat to attempt to pull off (for a primetime adult audience) since the TMNT franchise has included the kids demographic, and could only go so far in terms of darkness and grittiness for mainstream tastes.

...I just don't know if it could go that far because it would transition the tone from an adventurous, optimistic type of series to a sobering, grim, "trying to make it through the swill of life" drama. ...Which I don't know if a substantial amount of TMNT fans and/or a mainstream audience (most importantly) would want to see in a TMNT TV series, in order to keep the series afloat on television. :ohwell:
