To those who disliked this movie more than Ninja Turtles 3

For those who disliked the new movie, would you say that this movie makes you appreciate TMNT 3 more or not really?

For me, a little bit but still doesn't change the fact that the third film was still bad.

I appreciate all the TMNT flicks for what they are. The latest TMNT movie doesn't really change any of the others for me. Each movie has its great moments.

TMNT 2007 might be my least fav TMNT movie overall but it has my fav TMNT moment out of ALL of the movies.. (when Leo/Raph face off on the roof in the downpouring rain and they actually come to blows, as opposed to just verbal spats).

I agree with Shark Blade. The visuals were great (it's, like, the one aspect of film-making that Platinum Dunes excels at), IMO the characterizations of the Turtles were A+, they used their weapons, and all four Turtles got decent screentime (although it can easily be argued that Raph dominated screentime).

TMNT II: no weapons (but tied with 2014 for ridiculous Shredder)
TMNT III: terrible visuals
TMNT 2k7: no focus for Mikey and Donny

But you know where TMNT (1990) wins? Faithful adaptation of the original Mirage comics, and excellent character focus on the four Turtles and Splinter, with April and Casey as supporting characters.

I... Don't remember much of TMNT 3, I've only seen it once when I was 6-9 and been avoiding it because I've heard it's really bad.

Funny thing though, It may have been my first exposure to TMNT. It was either one of the movies or one of those story book adaptations, though I am leaning towards TMNT 2 or 3.

But, what are they good for if they never properly use them. They might as well just use fisticuffs, which they basically did for the most part.

Doesn't make me appreciate the 3rd one more, but it showed me it could, and did, get a whooooooole lot worse.

TMNT 3 is just a not good movie. Pretty harmless.

I'd say they were buffed up enough (in the PD film) to stand their ground without any weapons at all. Which was kind of stupid.

funny after watching it recently I don't get why it gets so much hate aside from the suits and lack of tmnt villians. I love it too.

The only things that bothered me about the third movie were the designs and Splinter's voice. Other than that, it was fine and I appreciate it more knowing how horrible the 2014 movie really was.

I'll third that- I love the third movie for its visuals (seriously, the scenery, sets, and costuming of all the human characters was beautiful), its story- which was actually pretty good- and its character moments, especially for Mikey and Raph. Mikey especially got more focus than usual in the third movie, and that made it much better than SotO for me. 2014 was okay, and I like it well enough, but TMNT III will always be my second favorite, after the original.

It just makes everything seem better in comparison. It's ridiculous the budget this film got and it's not even 1% as good as the first film. Even with inflation. Budget isn't everything. You need people that actually care behind it.

I actually liked TMNT 3, the only thing that was terrible with it were the cheap costumes, and the pure slapstick with the jokes and fighting. But the movie did have heart with the Mikey and Raph story lines.

I have always enjoyed TMNT 3...even with the bad suits...i dont know there is just something about it i loved...could be my love of Japan Culture Mixing wit the TMNT

Turtles 3- No villains from the show/ comics. Cliche stock villains. No final battle with the Turtles vs the villain. Horrible jokes. Lame cliche time travel storyline used in tons of movies at the time. Horrible costumes and animatronics. Sesame Street muppet looking Splinter. Killed the Ninja Turtles movie franchise.

Bay's Turtles- Shredder and Karai. Epic final fight with Shredder (whether you hate that Shredder or not). Jokes were a little better. Storyline containing elements from IDW, Mirage, OT, and 2003 Series. Turtles didn't look that great, but much more realistic than 3. Splinter looked better and actually fought. Made half a billion dollars and relaunched the Turtles film franchise.

Bottom line, even if you hated Bay's Turtles, at least it was more faithful to the Turtles legacy than that awful Ninja Turtles 3, which was clearly made for 4 year olds.

You're entitled to your opinions, but that is incorrect. The third film is based on Vol. 1 #17, making it "more faithful to the Turtles legacy" by default.

Yes I agree the leap frog part was silly but the actual fight was pretty good, in my opinion any way. Better than any of the fights in Turtles 3. Also other than it taking place in ancient Japan, I don't know what else in common it has with #17

TMNT 3 is not nearly as ghastly as TMNT 2, unless we're to view TMNT 2 through 10 year old beer goggles. So I'm not sure this thread has much basis in anything resembling reality. At least there was an actual character arc in 3 (shoddy as it was) and the Ninja Turtles actually used their weapons at times.
