I never really read that much of the mirage comic books...but im planning on starting to read volume 4..since i got a few issues at a comic store. I was wondering if it is necceassary to know the other volumes to understand this one?

not really, i dont guess. but there will be alot of characters that you wont know the full background on. if you want a "minimalist" mirage list, get issues 1-15, 19-21, and 50-62. id also recommend vol. 2 1-13 ( i think it went to 13). vol. 2 is definately part of the continuity, but they kinda ignored some stuff about it in vol. 4. (which they can get away with b/c of the huge time difference hehe), but at least one vol. 2 char (louis) is in vol. 4.

like ZAO said, you don't need to.

I've read about 5 of vol.1 and i understand everything in the book so far. there are a few things that you won't know about, but it's been good with giveing issue numbers to check for the info.

also im sure if there are any really big questions someone like Karpo would be willing to answer them, but you shoulden't have too many (if any at all.)

Well you don't have to read earlier volumes to understand volume 4, but you would definetly know the characters better.

Just go to the Official TMNT Site's comic book section and read up on the series. Dan Berger posted some good reviews for the entire Mirage series.
