What new did they bring to TMNT III when they tore it a new one?

I mean neither of them disliked the movie...and it's supposed to be an angry rant....

That's Easy Doug Walker and James Rolfe didn't dislike the movie. But Nostalgia Critic and the AVGN (Their Alter Ego's) Probably will hate it. That's how it works.

I dunno what James thought of the film, but judging by Doug's review (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMksDKklc14), he didn't hate it, but he didn't like it either.

Oh, and the NC teases the review at the end of this video and at the very end talks about a convention he'll be going to where it will be previewed: http://blip.tv/nostalgiacritic/nc-the-plot-to-frozen-2-7178996

 I might check it out. I check out a lot of the AVGN stuff but not much of the other stuff with Mike and all that. I've tried watching a few of the videos where they just play and talk about games and they're not "in-gimmick", and it's just some of the most boring stuff I've ever seen. Watching other people play video games is friggin' torture in any setting. So I guess I only like the Nerd gimmick. Although he seems like a cool guy. I see he wears Guns N' Roses shirts in a lot of videos; I think we'd get along great and have a lot to talk about.

But yeah, maybe I'll check it out if I remember to. Stuff like AVGN, I'll watch a bunch of videos over a day or two, and then not go back to it for months. Not sure why, I'm like that with everything.

Alright guys, I gotta step in here. NC's skits don't always hit their mark, but when they work, they really work. Also, there seems to be a lot of unnecessary hate for the acting. Sure, it's bad, but come on. It's the Internet. Did you expect any good acting? At the very least, the actors deliver the better lines rather well. Rant mode: off.
Anyway, really looking forward to this. Can't wait to see the 2014 movie bashed to oblivion.

Sometimes the majority agrees, other times they're shunned and called "haters".

Basically my stance. I feel they both can be hit-or-miss, but a lot of that just comes down to personal taste. But they're both independent content creators who've found an audience to support them, and that's something I can respect. And it's ultimately a good thing.

I'm interested. I liked both works to some degree and still enjoy their Coming Out of Our Shells review. Though I'm at odds on what particular flaws they could possibly point out that haven't already been said about this movie already and the whole review being more revolved around doing skits or gags as a result of it.

His stuff with Mike grew on me, actually. And I do agree that James seems like a pretty swell guy. He likes video games and Heavy metal. I'm sure I'd get along fine with him as well. Mike however seems a bit annoying, especially his sense of humor, and comes across as a douche for some reason.

I only saw a few of their "regular" videos, like the one where James plays Sonic '06, and another where they played a Godzilla game, and Mike just never shut up and let him talk, he just kept interrupting him with dumb questions/"observations". You could tell even James was getting a little annoyed, because he usually just went, "...Yeah." and immediately changed the subject. I get the feeling that they have the kind of thing where it's like, you get along great with your friend when it's just you guys, but then you actually "show them off" to other people and all of a sudden you realize they're kind of annoying and embarrassing.

I'm actually pretty excited for this. Not a huge AVGN, though his facial expressions are pretty humorous. But NC I LOVE, especially when he collaborates with other reviewers ("Bloodrayne" and "Heavy Metal" are two of my favorites).

It makes sense that AVGN is going to do the review with him since both are huge TMNT fans. I really liked the one video AVGN did of the entire Fred Wolf series. It's pretty lengthy, but his commentary on the series as a whole was pretty interesting. As for Nostalgia Critic, he just cracks me up. Yeah, I liked his classic videos a bit more than his recent stuff, but they've gotten better when they replaced Rachel with Tamara (She's a lot cuter and funnier).

While I liked some things about this movie and would like to see the sequel, it's definitely guilty pleasure territory for me. Even more so than the first movies. I'm curious to see if my long list of nitpicks matches their long list of nitpicks.

Leo656
03-25-2015, 09:18 PM
Dude, funerals are some of the funniest places on Earth. People get nostalgic about the absolutely most bizarre sh*t when someone dies. People get sloppy drunk, they get overly-emotional, and next thing you know, they go from crying about the dead guy to laughing about the time he got his d*** stuck in the pencil sharpener when he was in 3rd grade. They haven't even thought about it since, but now that the guy's dead, they suddenly remember it and make it a point to mention it.

I hate funerals, but I love THAT part of funerals. The totally inappropriate and morbid stuff people laugh at to break the tension. Love that.

honestly never like it when people make it seem the original turtles comics were all satire. I mean, sure the first issue had a couple of bits, but it was only in name only; by the time it got it's second issue, it was standing on it's own.

I thought the "It was written around toys" reveal was pretty funny. It's true but what makes it work is that, as pointed out, people seem to forget about that.

Also yes, the satire comment made right afterwards is a bit inaccurate but satire is still the starting point for TMNT.

Didn't really like how they tried to justify Sacks being the real Shredder wouldn't have been so bad by comparing it to April being a teenager in the Nick cartoon. They're just not the same situation, at all. One was a bad choice on principle and was changed in a half-a**ed way while the other was a different albeit more plausible choice that's often hindered by poor execution. Heck, I'm not even sure either of them watch the 2012 series to make a call like that.

Other than that, it was okay. Didn't really laugh or anything, but okay.

I honestly think the only version of the Turtles that was actually taken seriously was the 2003 Series. Specifically Seasons 1-4!

The intro was pretty cool and the idea of having to Save april and walking in the animated/videogame worlds were neat ideas but many scenes were just cringe worthy, it's funny because it's lowbudget and crappy can only be done for so long. The actual review was ok. I'm not a fan of the Nostalgia Critic but I can tolerate him from time to time, he was ok here and James was good but overall I didn't agree on the review, too much nitpicking which is what NC mostly does. Whose the fat April and unfunny guy with cheap a cheap beard? I'm guessing they're part of "Channel Awesome" or whatever but they aren't good at acting so I have no idea why they might be popular or who they are but they made this video worse with their unnecessary and unfunny additions. Loved the part about the slow motion and raph speaking normally, never noticed it.

Pretty good review. The whole April-getting-kidnapped-to-get-a-story bit was overdone. Tho I like the make-funs of the OT with their animation mistakes, and it was nice to see "God" or whatever reference how the OT was originally just created to sell action figures (which is true). The Thirty-Something intro song was annoying as hell tho.
