View Full Version : What's in store for Sacks

Fichtner signed on for multiple movies. This makes sense as Sacks was originally meant to be Shredder, but of course that was altered due to backlash at the last minute.

So then the question is, what will they do with Sacks in the sequels?

I'd say make him an Utrom. That'd explain why he needed to get "stupid rich" if he was trying to build a teleportation device, or space ship.

In that case he's probably Krang.

They'll probably just make the same movie over and over again, with Sacks making up all sorts of stupid get-rich schemes that culminate in a turtles vs. Shredder boss battle.

The first movie made a sickening amount of money for the studio. In that regard - if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I could go for that, particularly if they'd reveal it in a surprising way like the current series would.

Turtles try to kill him, almost promising us that it's his final movie, let those swords actually slash into him and...

Making him Krang in disguise seems the only way to keep Eric Sachs in the films, fulfill contract obligations, and somewhat mollify TMNT fans who hated him in the first movie.

... So it probably won't happen.

I've never understood why people were so eager to believe the Sacks character was going to be an Utrom or Kraang or similar alien character or why people seem convinced retroactively making him one in the sequel is a good idea.

Granted we don't really know how Ch'rell or Krang would act in this new movie series but the writing of the character and Fichtner's performance didn't strike me as particularly alien.

Not to mention Sachs' established backstory doesn't really gel with making him a character like that. He lost his parents and was raised by Shredder so does the exo-suit grow from child to manhood? Why would a Krang or Ch'rell or similar character do such a thing?

I honestly think the best thing to do is just dispense with the character all together. Just forget about him or add in a line that he was sent to jail or something. The fact that Fichtner has a three picture deal doesn't mean much, they can either buy him out or transfer him to another Paramount movie. Dare I say Fictner might prefer that; After all he signed on to play the primary antagonist in what he was told to be a faithful yet mature re-imagining of TMNT. Not playing second in command in something that has the majority of people who follow franchise up in arms in one of the most light and stupid takes on TMNT yet.

That being said the fact that we're getting Vern back makes me think that's unlikely so an alternative would be having him as something of a stand-in for Chaplin or the '87 version of Baxter Stockman as Shredder's lead scientist.

My hope was that they'd turn him into The Rat King. He's lost his empire, he's a wanted man, he was in a lab that blew up & was full of test subjects (rats) & mutagen. It'd be easy as hell to essentially render him Nick's version of the character. But like my homeboy said, if it makes sense, they won't do it.

Either way, this movie would be too jam packed to focus on Shredder, B&R, AND Rat King...

I want him to get the Cyclops from X-men: The Last Stand treatment. Just have him be in the first five-ten minutes of the movie and then be killed off.

I already made a theory of how Stockman is secretly working with Kraang and his Utrom army, take over Sachs's mansion while he's away, when Sachs comes back from prison (I assumed he was arrested or on bail or something), Stockman hands him over the Kraang, then we don't see him until the middle of the movie where he gets mutated into a monster that the Turtles have to fight and eventually kill.

.....Hey, they said he'd be in the movie; they never specified how long.

I like that idea. He'd kind of be like Grand Moff Tarkin.

Darth Vader is cool, sure, but remember that audiences were introduced to him as a servant to Grand Moff Tarkin. The man could tell Vader to do anything and Vader would obey. Think about how cool that is for a minute.

If Sacks weren't such a loser he'd make an awesome Grand Moff Tarkin ripoff.

Hope so too.

Heck, I've seen a couple articles that have claimed the sequel title as being Secret of the Ooze... if they can mess that up, I won't be surprised if some info is false for a while.

But I wouldn't be surprised either if they just decide that Shredder died or is badly/permanently injured throughout the second and Sacks takes over for him.

Although I'd prefer a more creative take, if they must switch it, such as maybe he tries to grab power over the Foot and the members have no idea it's Sacks and not the actual Shredder.

I'm pretty sure the writer just made a mistake in the article but even if they didn't, it's not really going to matter. We know what we're in for with the sequel - second verse same as the first. This movie has the same weak writers and production team as the last one - it's highly unrealistic to expect an increase in quality, particularly with Bay's involvement. Bay has a formula for his movies, they make bank regardless of how much people complain, so he has no real reason to listen or change the way he does things just to please people complaining on the internet. And we've seen in the past that when he does listen (changing Fichtner to Sacks instead of Shredder at the last minute), he's still botched the execution.

It's all just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic at this point. Some people will hate it, critics will loathe it, enough people will still throw their money at it and say it's not that bad that the studios will pat Bay on the back and greenlight a third movie, and we'll all be back here again for The Great Movie Wars: Part 3. :tlol:

I've developed a rather fatalistic attitude towards the whole thing at this stage.

Shredder's already a lame-ass in this franchise anyway. Thomas the Tank Engine could beat him in a fight.

Megan Fox kicked him with her tennis shoe and the Shredder lost.

If you're that awful of a supervillain then you deserve to be on someone's leash.

Yeah, maybe he could be the Bishop of this universe. The problem to me though is that if he is going to take on that role we may get another movie with him as the main villain which I don't think we need. He was not an interesting enough character to reuse without changing him. I love the Bishop character but we need his relations to the government and the super soldier plot if using Sacks. And the super soldier thing was meant to be the plot of the first movie (the first movie would actually have been way better if they sticked to the super soldier plot, and had Fichtner playing Bishop instead and save Shredder for the sequel!)

I like the idea of Shredder doing experiments on him as a punishment for the failures in movie one, resulting in Sachs turning into the rat king. But then again Sachs should maybe just be all forgotten now, since I am really not that interested in him. He is sadly just a standard character now he is not the Shredder.

What they could have done to reedit the movie when they did their reshoots to salvage things would have been... include some scene with Sacks betraying Saki near the end, poisoning him, and stealing his armor. Sacks then goes fighting the Turtles at the end and gets killed, and at the very end we see Saki, recovered, putting on some more traditional Shredder armor, setting up the sequel.

This way, #1: Sacks gets a payoff and a sendoff with a nice little ribbon and #2: Shredder gets an excuse for sucking in the final battle (it isn't Saki in it).

That's different. Ledger died and out of respect for him it was decided to leave the Joker's fate undecided (the novelization mentions that no one knows where he is, though...).

I think there'd be a few flaws with this. Much as dislike the movie "Saki" didn't really suck in the final battle other than Megan getting the final blow, prior to that he would have won against the turtles easily.

Then again it could be that the turtles themselves sucked as fighters. I highly doubt it was intentional but Shredder saying how Splinter didn't teach them well is a great way to show that...after all they did learn from a book.

Perhaps a bigger problem with this idea is with even with a greatly skilled Saki he'd never win against poorly skilled yet super strong turtles in the 2014 movie without some kind of aid which of course highlights the huge flaw in this series. No one was really pleased with the designs but the defense just became a circular discussion; why do the turtles have to be so damn big? Because Shredder has jacked up super armor of course. So then why does Shredder have to have jacked up super armor? Because the the turtles are that damn big.

I think the perfect final fate for Sachs is a scene in this move would be where April and Casey have to find him to get some information about Shredder, and they find him as a crazy homeless man living in the sewer and dressed in rags, with the rats as his only companions. Shredder abandoned him after the defeat in the first film, and now he's gone crazy and believes himself the 'rat king'. A fitting end for this poorly-conceived character.

Personally I'd agree with you two on this. I'm surprised anyone else hates Sachs that much. :tlol:

I don't even hate him that much in general, moreso what he represents, the fact he was there in place of other characters, how poor the script was, etc.

Exactly. At least Venus was something new. And the original vision for Sachs would've been as well. But what we got... that was insulting.

He shouldn't be in the movies at all. It's a TMNT movie... why waste time with a non-TMNT character? You don't announce a new TMNT movie and think 'gee, I wonder how this version will adapt Walker and Winters?'. You don't watch Batman to see him face Ketchup Man or watch the Avengers so they can all face Camera Director Man. I don't want a TMNT movie wasting time with Stupid Rich Man. Leave him on the cutting room floor.

Yeah, sucks for Fitchner, but it was kinda their fault for bringing into this mess and playing some made-up character. You know... kinda like landing the role for Otis in a Superman movie. Don't expect to appear in many sequels.

True, but a new character can become a TMNT character. I point to Dr. Victor Falco from the nick show, who became the Rat King. Sacks could do that, too.

Well he is a TMNT character NOW, as much as we don't like it.

True, true... but why? To cover up their mess ups? To prevent Fitchner from suing them for breach of contract? They could also involve Otis in experiement turned wrong and turn him into Bizzaro, but why? It's a waste of time.

Here's the thing tho. Falco was actually a GOOD villain, even before he became Rat King. Sachs wasn't.
