Backlash against the violence level?

We all know that the weapon usage, and nature of the fight scenes in the very first Steve Barron TMNT film caused an uproar amongst parents, to which the studio responded by COMPLETELY watering down its sequel.

Have their been any reports on such an uproar regarding the PD TMNT reboot?

Personally, I hope they crank it up a notch - more weapon usage, and hand-to-hand would be great, and not just from Casey (who is a safe bet), but from the brothers themselves.

Actually having some weapon combat would be great. How little the weapons was used besides the pogo stick of doom, is a bit embarrassing.

Not that I've heard. And I really hope not. The Turtles have been around for roughly 31 years, people should know what to expect by now. Today's parents who are members of generations who grew up with it really have no room to complain if they decide to take their kids to see it.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if some of today's grandparents were more likely the ones to take issue if they did when they were raising the original TMNT generation. But even then, they should have a good idea of what they're getting into if they took the grand kids.

I agree, I hope they up it, or at least put more focus on the martial arts aspect of the violence in it.

I think movie audiences are a lot more desensitized to violence these days than they were 25 years ago as well.

Good that there's no complaints about this, because only stupid moronic people and parents complain about weapons in movies.

Heck they see a lot of gun fights in nighttime TV series like CSI, but no one bats an eyelid.

I was a bit shocked for a moment when one of them kicked a foot ninja into a speeding subway.

That musta hurt.

But otherwise the most violent thing this movie had to offer was Splinter choking the turtles, if you disregard the violent assault this film had on the human mind, turning it to mush and thoughtless goo.

I can't believe it made enough money to warrant a sequel.

All they need to do is turn April into a 30-something SingleMom of 3 well-adjusted kids, who is not only a martial arts- and weapons expert FBI agent, but also a brilliant scientist and the love interest of at least 2 or 3 soap stud multi-millionaire brain surgeon Navy test pilots, et voila: Zero backlash guaranteed, level of violence irrelevant. Turtles? What turtles?
