CM Punk Auditoned For An Unknown Role

Former mixed martial artist and professional wrestler CM Punk might be up for a role in the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.

Punk, an outspoken comics fan and budding comics writer, delivered the news himself at a special spotlight panel during this past weekend’s Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo (C2E2). While discussing potential projects, Punk let it slip that he recently auditioned for a role in 2016’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2. Punk wouldn’t reveal the role, which is still officially uncast, however.

With the role of Casey Jones already claimed by Stephen Amell, it’s tough telling who Punk could play. The next obvious roles would be Shredder’s mutated soldiers, Bebop and Rocksteady, who were just confirmed for the film. But if Punk were to portray the anthropomorphic villains, he would most likely do so in a motion capture role.

I'm not too fond of wrestlers in movies as they not good in acting. I'm ok with The Rock now as he's done a lot of movies and has gotten better.

I wonder CM Punk auditioned for Casey Jones but obviously didn't get it and they liked him a lot and got him another role.

Casey, Bebop, or Rocksteady. Although I'm excited to see Oliver Queen as Casey, I think CM Punk would've killed in that role.

There's also a chance that he could've been auditioning for Hun. I mean, they threw Karai into the first movie for like, at least 25 seconds :roll:. I can see them pulling the same thing here just to put asses in seats.

And hell, what's another villain or two added to the lineup at this stage?! If the Turtles are taking on Bebop and Rocksteady, Splinter will probably get set up against Shredder 2.0 (aka: The Rematch), the most Sachs and Stockman will do is to stand in the background making glib remarks, which leaves Casey needing a human foe to battle.

To clarify, I'll never support this awful production, but I'll support him in being in it if that's what he wants to do. I kind of think it'd have to be worth his while and not too-small of a part for him to even consider it, but at the same time, not a huge time-sink given his UFC commitments. He's training almost every day preparing for his first fight, so any role he'd be up for probably isn't anything that would require an enormous amount of commitment. But, he's also got a lot on his plate right now and is picking and choosing what he gets involved with, so I'd have to think it would have to be a big enough part to at least be noteworthy, not a cameo that might get cut. Guy hates to leave his house, so he wouldn't likely sign on for a tiny part that might not even be in the movie; he'd consider that a huge waste of time.

I'm guessing he could be the human actor and the voice for either Bebop or Rocksteady, because that's the kind of thing they could do in a week, tops. Who knows if he'll get it, but it sure wouldn't hurt anything.

Keep in mind he apparently hasn't gotten any part yet, so people should relax a little bit. But if he does get a part, it'd officially be the first good piece of news we've gotten from this film franchise in over three years.

Movie(s) will just continue to be ridiculous anyhow. If he's potentially got looks, I could unashamedly accept this simply on the basis of evening out the currently unbalanced weight of adding a Victoria's Secret model into a movie that already put's Fox's ass in the camera.

In one of his interviews post WWE he mentioned he asked them to get him the Casey Jones role for the new TMNT as part of their negotiations to come back. I think him as Rocksteady could be alright pre mutation but generally I like to see a good unknown actor.

I think he is a fan but I am not sure how I'd feel about him in the movies... Although it might make the movie better or at least a little more interesting as I really didn't care for the reboot at all and don't particularly get excited for seeing Beebop or Rocksteady in the films. Maybe they will do it better I found the first one tough to watch.

When it comes to Professional Wrestling? Yes. It is an artform when you are as good as Punk or The Rock.

Rock is the exception. Not the rule. For every one Rock there's about 10 Hogans or Pipers.

And him getting a movie role with no real movie acting experience or whatever would be about par for the course for this guy. He's signed to the biggest MMA promotion in the world just because 'He was a real big fan and showed up at a lot of shows' and talked the owner into giving him a job. So yeah! Why not.

I kinda don't see the problem with Punk getting any of his recent gigs through "politics" or "favoritism" or anything else. That's how life works. Nobody gets anywhere based solely on "merit" or "skill" or "experience", but by using a little of each while always manipulating circumstances to suit their favor. He's been able to do that, and good for him. I admire the hell out of that. People are just jealous things don't go that smooth for them, when they know full well they'd jump on those same opportunities if they ever presented themselves. UFC, in particular, is a business. Why should a guy like Punk, who could be earning them buy rates and tons of money inside of a year, because he's well-known and has a lot of attention on him right now, be forced to scrape up from the bottom until he's 40 and too banged up to actually fight, just because "it's fair", or "he should have to earn it?" That's stupid. Let's be real. Let's not go pretending there's only ONE set of "rules" for everybody, or that Punk is the only guy who ever got bumped ahead in line because of his name. That's not at all how life works, and these things constantly happen. Pushing Punk into a fight as soon as they can while people still care makes $ense for everyone involved. I can see the guys who actually do have to start at the bottom getting annoyed, but if they can't handle disappointment and getting screwed over, they probably shouldn't be in UFC in the first place. Just sayin'.

As far as this movie goes, again, he hasn't gotten anything yet, so we'll see. But I won't be surprised if he does.
