Are the turtles going to have any form of character development in the sequel? and not played up as a joke this time? you know, instead of being caricatures

They'll have at least as much as they had in the first movie! :twink:

"Leonardo - Donnie, what are the odds of character developing?

Donatello - 0.000003%."

Just my guess :P

They'll have even more clothes expressing what their characters are.

this thread is an argument waiting to happen.

but hey, ill bite...

...i thought the Turtles personalities/character was the best part of the last film. sure they played on their individual stereotypes but with a theme song that sings *Leonardo leads, Donatello does machines...Raphael is rude, and Michelangelo is a party dude...* there are expected mannerisms/tropes etc. from each Turtle.

That being said, Raph's emotional breakdown @ the end wasnt the payoff they thought it should be given that they didnt go with the original script - personally i would love for them to dive deeper into the Turtle's day to day, to watch them interact as brothers. In any Turtle franchise it was always an enriching part of the story.

Will it happen? Not likely. But a fan can dream.

I doubt that there's going to be character development. Although this is TMNT we're talking about, I doubt the four base personalities are going to change much. For example, do really think Raph is ever going to be potrayed as "not angry"?

If you're looking for character development set in that particular universe I can recommend some good fanfic.

ROFL

Leo - "I'll take it." Buries his head under his pillow and gently cries himself to sleep that night.

Even if they can't grasp the concept, at least more down time please, esp outside the main storyline when they're just bugging either other at home as usual or whatever. (Film makers: What do the Turtles do outside of fighting bad guys and who are they off the clock? Answer that and you have a starting point...)

You mean besides the "Raph resents Leo's authority" plot-point from the last film that even then, wasn't that important or even well done?

Fat chance.

Since it seems like they're doing a soft reboot to make up for TMNT 1, they might have more character development. However, if I were betting on that, I'd probably lose.

No.

They'll save all of the character "development" for April.

The turtles will barely be in this movie, just like they were hardly in the first one.

Time spent on character development is time which could be better spent on explosions! Audiences like it when things go kablooey! (BayLogic)

Of course there will be character development. Nothing stays the same. ;)

You mean for April, right?

I'm not sure change and development are quite the same thing.

I'd like it if his port-a-potty did.

The first scene should be the Turtles waking up from a horrible nightmare, and the first film never existed.
