With the inclusion of a younger Shredder in Brian Tee - it may be safe to assume that the Foot might be looking at some type of overhaul.

In the first film, Masamune's Shredder criticized Karai because her men were weak...perhaps new Shredder will be ushering in a new wave of Foot to replace the idiot nina-esque commandos that couldn't handle the Turtles in film-1.

In a set video (also posted in the set photo/video thread), we see what appear to be ACTUAL ninja chasing April down the streets of NY...

very true, and personally, what will make or break this movie for me, is the look of the Turtles, if they dont tone it down, I'm gonna find it hard to find positives with which to keep defending this iteration.

but changing directors can affect a film greatly, and in this case, I hope Green cleans house. (not necessarily fires people, but makes major changes, cause if anyone can, it SHOULD be the director)

I'm optimistically hoping that Vern actually isn't going to be in the movie much. Just like one scene showing us that he's moved on, got a girl, and tries to avoid mutants, ninjas, or evil businessmen.

This is actually intruiging, and not hard to explain in-universe, as it was shown that the Foot was in a rough spot in the first movie, they might have upped their end game to deal with the Turtles.

I am starting to have more faith in this. Who knows, maybe TMNT 2 will be awesome. I certainly want this to be the case, and feel more optimistic than probably a lot of the other negative guys and gals here. But I'm still worried.

The fact that everyone is so stunned that there might be ninjas in a Ninja Turtles movie just proves how dire things have gotten. What should be a given is now a shocking piece of news. Should we really be impressed by this? It's like celebrating because a driver didn't careen off the side of a cliff. It's literally the bare minimum that's expected of them.

All power to them if they want to course correct, but this iteration is built on a foundation of sewage. I wish they'd cut their losses and do a proper reboot instead of clumsily trying to salvage it. Even if they manage to improve it tenfold it's still likely a far cry from good.

There's still nothing to say that these ninja couldn't end up being Foot Bots later on - I mean, didn't Transformers 2 have some sort of cyborg sexbot (sorry, "Decepticon Pretender") where they had a real actress and then added in CG later?

They could easily do the same with this ninja - use a real person for a chase scene and later on in a different scene, add in some CG stuff showing their true nature (for example, Raph bitchslaps one into a post and it explodes or falls apart into twitching, mechanical pieces). Seeing a ninja doesn't automatically mean we're getting ninjas - as Powder said, they could well end up on the cutting-room floor. Bay might watch a cut of the movie and decide he doesn't like the tone (again).

I did contemplate on buying one of the basic figures from the movie. Now that our LCS is having a moving sale. But, I decided I've seen enough on reviews, the figures stink, I don't need a perosnal hands-on experience.

If I had to guess, I figure these ninjas look like ninjas because they were doing sneaky things, like tailing April. They probably were geared up to face the turtles.

But hey, the "soft-reboot" thing could totally happen. I don't want to sound like I'm denying the possibility. I don't know if they want confusing continuity issues, though. Like, "Why are the turtles small and not bulletproof, but the movies still called TMNT 2?" I seriously doubt they'd do that. its not , its a driect sequel. there is nothing reboot about it, they are just ignoring facts they put in themselves

You know what the thing is? They have shown care about the movie at times. Like, yes, the 2014 movie wasn't... let's just say it wasn't as good as it could've been.

HOWEVER,

They did change up Shredder when we complained about it. Yes, it did make the movie a little worse, but they DID take the initiative to take Shredder back to his roots. I hope to god they don't touch the origin story again, and let's just hope they completely forget about the origin story.

But now they've got a good actor as Casey, Bebop and Rocksteady are coming, a new Shredder, and actual Foot Ninja? I feel like the Foot Armors (that's what I'm calling the gun-wielding Foot) will still be in the movie, but having both would be a nice compromise.

Please, please, please, David Green, make this movie good.

Nice to see something a little more ninja-esque, however I still glad they've gone a little military with the outfits, and not used the 'iconic' bug eyed kabuki pajamas.

It honestly doesn't seem so military-esque, it just looks like they've got more padding than the older Foot Ninja.

With the inclusion of a younger Shredder in Brian Tee - it may be safe to assume that the Foot might be looking at some type of overhaul.

In the first film, Masamune's Shredder criticized Karai because her men were weak...perhaps new Shredder will be ushering in a new wave of Foot to replace the idiot nina-esque commandos that couldn't handle the Turtles in film-1.

In a set video (also posted in the set photo/video thread), we see what appear to be ACTUAL ninja chasing April down the streets of NY...

This makes me think that maybe Shredder will bring in his own Foot Ninja from Japan and the that other men were Sachs US "Foot" soldiers.

Agree, it would just be a waste of time to try to touch on it again for a do over, just move on from that. Make strong efforts to understand the subject better and do better and just try to pretend that other junk didn't happen.
