View Full Version : Should the turtles do a musical/sing in the movie?

It's a fact that the boys play music. Like Mikey said to Raph in the first movie: "How we're gonna finish our Hip Hop christmas album, bro? You're the hype man!"

So Raph's the hype man (definintion: backup rapper and/or singer who supports the primary rappers with exclamations and interjections, and who attempts to increase the audience's excitement with call-and-response chants).

The others are probably like this:

Mikey's the lead vocalist (+keyboard).

Leo's on the drums (+headbanging while he's at it).

Don plays the guitar.

How's about that? :D And something I came up with for the lolz, their rap album could be like (inspired by Nicki Minaj's Anaconda (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDZX4ooRsWs)):

Biatch named April used to live in Detroit
Top news reporter, she was gettin some coins
Went snoopin on the mob, but was kidnapped by Shredder
She then stabbed him on the back, hoe never seen it comin

Now bang, bang, bang
Dem turtle boys came marching thru the door
Who wanna go first? We swatted them off like ****ing flies
We high as hell, on ****in adrenaline
We're on some dumb ****, by the way, what he say?

“I’m gonna mess with April O’ Neil
Come through and drive off in my automobile”

We gave chase, then Bebop and Rocksteady were on our tail
Donnie says “let’s keep it real”, then flipped a missile switch
They all exploded, Shredder’s trashed by the curb

So we pulled outta the Turtle Van and hit him with the jab like
Dun-d-d-dun-dun-d-d-dun-dun

My turtle shell don't, my turtle shell don't
My turtle shell don't want none unless you got buns, hun

You must have amnesia to Mikey's attempt to sing at the end of the first. (Though I can understand as it was bad enough for the mind to forcibly block out the memory.)

Mother of god NO.

Fooling around as a spot of humor is one thing. For real however - NO.

Also, I can only speak for me, but I'd personally rather not have a repeat of that "Shell Shocked" nonsense. If that is all rap is capable of being anymore, then it's time for the Turtles to move on from it and try something else. (And no crying about them having to have rap for some reason, else I will do it, I will pull that "nostalgia glasses" card if I must.)

Pretty sure it was a hit. So this'd probably be no different.

and that was at the height of Turtle Mania.....the same thing wouldnt fly today, it would be a waste of money and do more harm than good

actually yea go ahead do it, let it bring the franchise down so it can be rebuilt

Which however was also created around singing and hiring people that could. How many of these actors can sing without sounding like glass and scrap metal thrown into a meat grinder.

Some definite illusions of grandeur being applied to this film.

(Also I have to object, Shell Shocked was terrible other than the hook.)

Edit: Just wait it out... Nick wants to put Spongebob on Broadway. Goodness knows they'll prob do it to TMNT someday.

Pssssssshhhh as if there's any defense for the Camel Clutch.

When Iron Sheik was bodyguard for the Shah, untold hundreds of Jabronis met their death in that very hold. Some, were Hollywood blonde Jabroni like the Hulk Hogan... others were cheeseburger fatass like the Brian Blair... but ALL, were made Humble, Percent 1000, baba.

That is why Sheik is The Legend, and we all show the Respect, and Respect to the Camel Clutch. In Sheik's name we say, 'F*** the Verne Gagne," and have a good day. :tgrin:

I often lose your references, but vaguely remember Iron Shiek.

Give me Sgt Slaughter, but mostly because he was a a Joe, lol. Though combat was really never as fun as the show presented it, and bullets*are far more effective than lasers.

The thing about Sarge, is he's huuuuuuge in real life. But he speaks very softly. That was weird to find out. Dude's got big hands.

Sheik is Sheik 24/7. You don't have a name when you're with Sheik, your name is "Jabroni C***sucker" or some slight variation of same. And he whips beer bottles at people, sometimes full. I love that guy. I'm not suggesting I spend any more time with him than I do or have, but it's kind of fun to see the train wreck up close on occasion.

It's odd that the real-life G.I. Joe with the booming voice is a giant teddy bear and the lunatic with the Persian Clubs is actually 50% more insane in real life. That's one of those things where you kinda wish the reverse was true.

I don't ask for a full blown movie of musical like Sweeney Todd or Into the Woods, geez. Maybe like one segment at the end like Shrek did. Or like Toy Story 2 did ("You got a friend in me"). After that they can roll credits.

Imagine: they're relaxing in the lair after their battle, eating pizza and started rapping and playing musical instruments, Mikey break dancing a bit, April and Casey dancing with them, just chilling and having fun. Good times.

They established that they sing, even making an album. Why not show us the goods? Show us what they're made of! :tgrin:

And all it took was for the Foot clan to look like actually Foot Ninjas.

Or Leo. Also Donnie.

Just make it 'a thing' with Mikey at the end of each movie where he likes to make the audiences' ears bleed. Have him start off and try to get the others to jump in.

But the other three just look at him like "you've got to be kidding me, I'm outta here."

Meditation. Project. And what ever Raph feels like doing that isn't that.

If it's Rap, it would have to be Old Skool - as in GM Flash or Rocksteady Crew - 'cause if they do 50 Cen' or Lil' Kim, say bye-bye PG rating.
If they have a band (with actual instruments they actually play), the drummer's usually the party animal, so that would be Mikey. Bass players tend to be on the quiet, artsy side of things, let's give Donnie that job. Singers/rhythm guitarists are usually the tallest & best looking but least musically talented of the bunch, while lead guitarists tend to be the most musically gifted and involved. I guess Leo and Raph can bicker - as usual - over who's who.......

Clearly not since we're also adding in ridiculous cars, basketball players, super models, and more human characters in place of screen time for the Turtles.

That would be hilarious.

Although.... They DID do that beat-box thing in the elevator, and the extended version of that scene had them all getting pretty heavily into it. Sure, why not, I'd love to see something like that again- but maybe with instruments this time, in the lair? They did have that jam area in the last movie- that we never got to really see.

I have no idea if this would work or not. I wouldn't mind maybe something like the Turtles cleaning the lair or training in the morning to some actualy good music. Maybe April could have a thing where she's lip singing to a song, kind of like what happened in the beginning of Adventures in Babysitting.

With the first film moving along in a way similar to the original one can't help but wonder if they're not going to mime SOTO a little, especially given the debut of an evil mutant duo. With this whole "Vern is a celebrity now" thing & the turtles getting caught by cops & most likely cameras too, there may very well be a chance that by the end of the film the turtles are known to the public & end up performing on stage with some rapper a'la Ninja Rap.
