Ciro clearly stated in a interview that Mutagen Man would have a bigger role in season two. What do you think happened?

Well the answer is simple, they had to make way for Slash... And Tiger Claw... And Chrome Dome... And Granitor... And Irma... And Pizza Face... And a bunch of other pointless characters nobody really cares about nor will the kids really remember because they're in so few episodes.

Seriously, when this show is over, who's going to care about let's say Snakeweed or Spider Bytez? At best they're going to return in 20 years because kids turned cartoon writers thought the toys were neat back in the day, just like Mutagen Man, Muckman and Mondo Gecko.

Sorry derailing there, but yeah, it's because they wanted to shoehorn in a bunch of other characters, MM just got lost in that.

He also clearly said Don will be the leader for a while, you know, not just 2 minutes. He also said Don will talk with 80's Raph. And I'm not sure if the fans over-speculated a Dark Raph arc, or if Ciro said that too.

The deal is, learn to take what he says with a grain of salt. He might say something like 'The Mutanimals are gonna have a HUGE role in season 4' and they'll appear in one episode all season and maybe get a mention or cameo in another.

Yeah that wasn't over-speculation. His words were "a Dark Raph storyline". I guess we do need to take what he says with a grain of salt.
I'm still waiting for Donnie to talk to 80's Raph.

Auman was the person who was asked about whether the show would take any ideas from the IDW comics. He replied something like that they weren't but they were going to have a story loosely based on the Dark Leo in IDW but with Raph. In that case, I do think that fans over hyped it and it wasn't Ciro's fault.

It was Rob Paulsen who said that Donnie would talk to 1980s Raph, not Ciro.

I can't really comment on Mutagen Man and Donnie leading because I don't remember that. I guess Donnie was leading them for a while during the Invasion episode when Leo was off battling Shredder but people were probably expecting more. Once the Karai story line is wrapped up, we'll have to get back to Mutagen Man because that has been hanging around for a long time.

Or that whole 'how Raph got that jagged slash on his plastron/backstory/where that came from' that was 'supposed to be explained'...obviously that's not happening either.

That was stated in the ultimate visual history book though. There is a difference between saying something verbally and putting something in written media.

Well, more than likely the writer of the book had written it down because, at some point, the other person said it verbally to him/her...even if that's not the case...it seems like a Piss Poor & Lame Excuse. No offense.

I would like to know how it makes it THAT different to you...

It's still something that they SAID they were going to do, and didn't do it.

Compared to S1, Mutagen Man did have a bigger role. We only saw his origin at the very end of an episode.

Do you mean Timothy or MM?

Donnie was going to use Mutagen Man in order to create a cure for the mutagen outbreak during season two. Obviously, that was scrapped.

I am talking about both. Mutagen Man and Timothy are the same person.

Obviously, the guy has FOSS syndrome at times (aka Full Of Sh** Syndrome)That would've gave more development for Raph so they automatically threw it out. We can't have any of that.

Me. They're two of my favorite things about the show. Sick ass designs.

Anyway, having marathonned season 2 yesterday, I've been wondering this myself. I hope we get a damn resolution for this character soon.

Considering I have major issues over lack of development for stories, Mutagen Man getting the shaft is a massive problem. This story had potential either way you scratch it. However, by looking back, there's at least three reasons why:

1. Roger Craig Smith (Timothy/Mutagen Man's voice actor)

I got nothing against the man himself, he's a great voice actor, but I think Roger is the main problem. Due to him voicing the character of Sonic the Hedgehog, I think he's dedicated to the character and his video game roles more. Something tells me if he had a lighter schedule, Mutagen Man would have had more of a role in season 2 instead of simple brief appearances. Perhaps he'd be the key alongside April to the retromutagen if he appears more.

2. Direction by the creators

The mishandling of direction is apparent during season 2 and especially the current season. I think that due to constantly switching writers and members on the creative team is why everything either loses potential, is self-contained, or rushed.

3. Where would the character go?

Outside the idea of Timothy being major for the cure, there's not too much left for the character. He suddenly becomes the bad guy in Mutagen Man Unleashed for no reason what so over. Unless they make him a reoccurring villain similar to Zeck and Steranko as Bebop and Rocksteady, it's difficult to find what to do with Timothy. There are some elements that can be used though like proving him wrong for what he did, his family learning of him, or possibly sacrificing him in a massive war.

When it comes down to it, something tells me Mutagen Man would have been a bigger focus in the previous season had it not been for Roger being busy or if something was planned out. Unless they are building him up somehow, it's a waste of massive potential once more for the series.

I would've liked to have seen Timothy remain an ally to the Turtles - maybe have him come to the realization that being a hero doesn't necessarily mean being a ninja. Have him stick with his training more as a matter of personal growth and achieving self-discipline than as a means to be a hero. Have him grow a bit as a character, mature a little and remain a human friend who potentially is able to help the Turtles in other ways. Maybe as a result of his ninja training, he develops an appreciation for Japanese history, applies himself to its study and is able to supply useful information down the track. Maybe he gets a job helping Mr Murakami at the restaurant - there are heaps of ways they could've kept him included in the show as a side character.

It's sad to see him sitting on the shelf; I know he was a dork and a lot of people found him irritating but I kinda liked him and saw a lot of potential there.

Mutagen Man may have had an more of role then we think he does...we just don't see it because it wasn't this big impacting thing.

Lets start with the Pulverizers mutation. He wanted to be a mutant thinking that it would make him cool and powerful. Donnie tries to tell him that becoming a mutant isn't going to give him wants, but the idiot doesn't listen.

And because of the mutation, in Timothy's mind all he sees is the unfairness of it. Because all he sees is Donnie getting the better of everything. He has a better Mutation, he has a cute girl for a friend, and he is a hero. While Timothy who wanted to be a hero/ninja/mutant because it looks cool is just a blob in a jar.

Then comes Mutation Situation where April tells Donnie to his face she doesn't want to see him or any of them ever again, because of what happened to her father.
Mutagen man is already upset about his mutation. So when Donnie starts telling him that April is upset with them and doesn't want to be their friend any more. Mutagen man probably thought to himself "The Turtles hurt this April girl and they didn't tell me I'd become this. So maybe she wants to be my friend."

I agree that maybe more should have been done with the mutagen drinking. After all if Timothy is drinking the mutagen they have been tracking down, then Donnie should have at least noticed the mutagen was going missing.
At least once before Mutagen Man unleashed.

In regards for drinking the mutagen, Timothy probably thought that maybe more mutagen could turn him into a better mutant. Which sadly it didn't, it only gave him powers temporarily.

As for not curing him, I don't think he's meant to be cured. And the reason for that is priorities. And it's more likely that he would never be cured, but rather die by Donnie's hand in his current form due to those priorities.
