View Full Version : RUMOR?? - KRANG a possibility in TMNT-2
graphic_content

According to insider sources (via Cinemablend):
According to a source close to production, Krang will be making his live-action debut in TMNT 2. This source said that the production recently filmed a scene last week involving a number of extras and the character's arrival on Earth through a portal of some sort. We have yet to confirm this information outside of the mentioned source, but given all we know of this current run of films and the rumors, we have every reason to trust this intel.

Okay, how do you fit Baxter Stockman, Bebop and Rocksteady, Shredder, Krang, and possibly Eric Sachs all into one 90-120 minute movie?
Very nervous. Very not optimistic.
I'd say something like "Bay, don't you dare f*** this up." But we all saw the first movie. :tconfuse:

But would they be filming an end-credits scene already? I admit I don't know how that works, but I always kinda assumed those were pretty late into production...

I honestly don't know, but I know they don't always film the scenes in the order they will appear in the movie. I think it's all dependent on several factors i.e, location, budget, equipment availability, actor's schedules, etc.

Im cool with it.. we don't know where he will fit into the story or how long his screentime will be.. hell, we dont even know if this is confirmed.
Personally, taking into consideration the current roster they have on hand already, I'd like to think this will occur at the very end or after credits.. this is wishful thinking of course.

The people behind this movie clearly don't give a crap, especially considering someone was quoted as saying "we're trying to fit them(Bebop and Rocksteady) into the movie."
Because it's not about telling a good story or caring about the characters or the movie you're making for these people, it's about doing their own thing because they want to and shoving in as much "fan service" as they possibly can. And even their fan service sucks.

Exactly, use the utroms instead. It is a really interesting part of the universe which could work quite well on the big screen plus it would not be necessary to develop another character in the same way they need to do with Krang in a movie with several new characters already. Also, I have a bad feeling with all these Fred Wolf characters. Instead of focusing on the good story it seems like they focus to much on making us all feel nostalgic. Hopefully Bebop and Rocksteady will be badass and not just another source of oneliners...

I doubt they'll use Utroms since this is obviously based around the version of TMNT most people are familiar with (80s and current cartoon). And Krang, Bebop, Rocksteady and Shredder all go hand in hand in those versions.

Because the current cartoon isn't the one late-20 somethings and up remember fondly from their childhood.
And here is the huge irony of this movie series. They desperately want to hook in the older audience with hype over these characters from a nostalgia based version without actually being like said version. Once that is pointed out of course it all becomes "well it's not for us, it's for the new generation" which is an even bigger irony as it bares no relation to the current animated series popular with children either.
I don't think it'd be hard to strike a balance between versions that would satisfy a broad audience - after all the 1990 movie did it with the Mirage and Fred Wolf versions but if they aren't going to please long-time fans it's rather sad kids wont get their version on the big screen either.
And yes adding in Krang as anything but a tease for a potential third movie is over crowding this movie. I know I'm not the only person who feels the first movie was eerily similar to the Amazing Spider-Man not just in terms of it's content (pretty much everyone thought that) but in terms of how people looked at it as in "it made enough money for a sequel" and "made a lot overseas". It looks like the sequel will follow the same fate as that series with throwing everything at the wall. In fact I wonder if that isn't a factor here; as in they know a third go-around may not be financially feasible so stick everything in this movie.

It is only a rumor, but I honestly hope they don't shove in Krang as a last minute addition. It'd be like Amazing Spider-Man 2 or Spider-Man 3 where too much added to the film causes an incoherent narrative, major scene removal, and underdeveloped characters. Then again, this is a film with Michael Bay on the set assisting, so two of these things are happening no matter what.
Just set Krang up near the end, surprising audiences with his appearance and have him prepare to enter the Earth, giving us a sneak preview of the Technodrome. Then use him as a villain in the next movie.
Considering Baxter will be minor most likely (favorite villain getting the shaft sadly), Bebop and Rocksteady appearing, and Eric Sachs and a generic Shredder and possibly Karai, this is a major recipe for disaster if the rumors are true and Krang gets a major role here. I'm skeptical still though, so we'll have to see.

THAT'S blatantly untrue. The Turtles are without a doubt the stars of their own cartoon. The complete opposite of BayTurtles.
And as far as "shoving in" a bunch of characters. Nick Turtles is a multi-season episodic tv show.

Not even trying.
Most of the attention is about the mutants on the Nick show. I guess a lot of us are watching a different show:
Super duper awesome episode.... Hell yeah.
Finally....TMNT is back. No more Mutant of the Week filler. And that last scene was epic.
And yet another mutant of the week episode. I'm looking forward to Sunday's episode though.
I think they've exhausted just about every mutant of the week type monster mutant that they possibly can. Especially if you count the ones in Seasons 1-2 where they did a Loch Ness homage, Aliens homage, a ghost, the Pizzaface ep were zombies, the Parascita wasps, etc.
You know what would be cool? If the mutant of the week episodes were character development stories with the characters acutally learning a lesson at the end. The Speed Demon one sounds like it could be like that.
If you can tolerate a lot of Kraang plots and "mutant of the week" villains, then yes. Binge watch it. If not, then don't. Like many others, those are my only problems with the show.
I think he does care about her to a degree, you could hear it a little in his voice. But this care is also a bit warped and twisted by his desire for revenge.
I think that is the feeling of many people on here, so you aren't alone on this. Hopefully they have way less of the MOTW junk and start doing stuff with the existing dudes they have.
And, again, the cartoon is written/worked on by fans for fans whereas the movie is Michael Bay going for another cash grab on behalf of Paramount/Platinum Dunes.
Just because something is written/worked on by fans, doesn't automatically make it better quality though. But if we are solely comparing Nick versus the Bay movies, then yes, the Nick cartoon is better.

So because there were mutants of the week, and some people lamented that...the show wasn't about the Turtles?
Which it clearly is?
Considering how Nick April has becoming more of a Mary Sue of sorts, how the love triangle took a substantial amount of show's time, and the amount of promotional attention those Nick mutants of the week get within the series, and nostalgic elements, it could appear the Nick Turtles are not necessarily on the forefront of the series.
I didn't dispute that there were mutant of the week episodes. I disputed that the show didn't star the Turtles which you clearly said that it didn't.
How delusional are you?
I don't know how you classify or define "star", but the fact that character development has taken a backseat to whatever hyped-up imaginative mutant is introduced in the upcoming Nick show is taking up more of the show's screen time and excitement, doesn't seem to "star" or at least focus on the Turtles that I would have hoped for. And that's where I see the parallels. Most of the excitement in both the Nick show and the Bay movies are about which new character (mutant or not) is appearing rather than the character development that I would like to see. ...But that's just me I guess.

Isn't it funny how, when I posit something absurd, yet bay-possible, we're the only two who enjoy it; yet when Bay decides to do something equally absurd, these sycophants stand up and applaud?

HALT AND CATCH FIRE:
This movie doesn't have enough Kardashian either.
Let's fix that.

Sorry, but I still think you need to up the babe quotient and product placement here. Also, not enough patriotism about 'Muuuurica! I think this can be solved by flashing something like this in between scenes, just to get the subliminal messages across:

Somebody get Paris Hilton on the phone and order a bag of burgers. She can do promo for the film in a bikini and say things like "I endorse this movie because it's HOT."

Here's a thought. Instead of Busey being MetalHead, he should read the movie lines for an extremely volatile version of Krang. That would be freaking awesome. Busey can use his personality to fuel his alien alter-ego's ambitions for world domination. I think that Busey played quite a few movie roles as a total a-hole fueled on his own insanity. It could work.

So you've got good casting for Zach and I suppose Venus (Bay's involved, Venus should probably be a lot more racist somehow if possible), but who's your pick for Howie?

HALTANDCATCHFIRE
Howie? Wait, let me dig real deep and find the most annoying jack-turd I can think of.
Beyond Kardashian, worse than Andy Dick, and more aggravating that even Bay himself.
His name is Tai Lopez. Maybe you don't know that name, but now that you do, you won't soon forget it.

Must be watching a different show. Because clearly they're not if they're "mutants of the week."
Not even trying.
And, again, the cartoon is written/worked on by fans for fans whereas the movie is Michael Bay going for another cash grab on behalf of Paramount/Platinum Dunes.
Do you have any real argument? All you keep saying is "by the fans for fans" you're like a broken record. You provide no argument whatsoever. Your whole side to this thing consists of "No you're wrong" & "by the fans for fans" gives some episodic examples at least, guy.

Cinemablend is a horrible website. Not to say that there isn’t a chance of Krang appearing, but this whole thing just screams of Traffic whoring. And it’s worked. But Blend is a terrible website. Truly.

I'm betting Krang is just an end-credits scene.
Actually, this who movie series choices actually make sense on paper. If I were to read about these films as a scenario- A first film with Shredder (with the guy who would possibly become rat king working as a scientist/underling), a second film with Baxter, the mousers, Rocksteady and bebop, and a third with Krang and the Technodrome- I'd be running to the theater to go see these movies!
The problem with these films is how they turned out- lack of plot, crappy story bad dialogue, bad acting, and Bay-isims. I didn't care for this movie that much, but unlike the purists I would NOT go see a direct adaptation of Mirage, being that I'm more a fan of other versions. It's not the characters and scenario that make this move bad- it's the way they used them!

I know this one is already getting QUITE the heat based on how the last one turned out. I'm still in the 'I enjoyed it and therefore I'm apparently a Bay-tard' camp (as some of 'you' so eloquintly put it). But I'm still cautiously optomistic they learned from at very least a few of their mistakes/gross misteps and start steering this one in the right direction. STARTING to set up the Krang/Dimension X would be awesome, a little Shredder peppered in with Baxter/Mousers being the main villian and giving us more TURTLE MOMENTS (not necessarily ACTION - but *youDOplanonhavingsomeNinjaTurtlesinyourNinjaTurtl emovierightIanMalcom.gif) and I'll be 'happy'. This isn't the high art approach 'we' deserve. Hope you guys get that version one day.

I don't really see much reason to be cautiously optimistic that they've learned from their mistake/gross missteps or that they are steering things in the right direction.
More promising set photos with more ninja looking Foot and a vehicle which doesn't outright look ridiculous aren't enough to offset set photos of Megan Fox in a catholic schoolgirl outfit, multiple scenes of celebrities playing themselves and that same clown car coming back.
I's like to think they are simply seeding more sci fi oriented stuff but I think it's more likely they are throwing everything at us in desperate hopes that the many people who walked out of the last one thinking it was the worst thing they'd seen might give the sequel a shot. I mean you think if this was a post-credit scene or small aspect they'd have it under tighter wraps to prevent this kind of leak.
I can't help thinking the sequel can't really afford to play things smart. Even if it was an improvement the previous movie is still going to be a big elephant in the room. To put it into perspective Joel Scumacher had some solid ideas of what to do in Batman Triumphant but even if he was allowed to I doubt many would take it seriously after Batman & Robin. TMNT II will have to be something truly special to get over the big elephant in the room of the previous movie/

Where as the term "star" is subjective you seem dead set on your ways no matter whether you are wrong or not. Regardless of who's side i am on in this argument. You still have provided no examples or story arcs or episodes that feature serious character development. You simply state "here look, the turtles are in this"

They didn't learn from anything.
They are cramming in empty fan-service again.
PD has never made a good movie, so why would they just randomly decide to make one now? Michael Bay and those terrible writers are still behind the production of the film.
No seriously, The fact that Michael Bay is still the controlling force behind this project shouldn't make anyone optimistic.

Megan Fox in (or out of) any outfit is fine with me.
Other than that, this here noo moovee do seem to be gettin' a li'l packed, donnid?
I think at least one of the Krang's bodies should be made from what's left of Matt Lauer after Bebop (7'5) and Rocksteady (9'8) are done with him - protecting the magically resurrected Shredder from April's mom (Judith Hoag), her boss (Lauer) and their incessant reporter snoopings. Meanwhile, Erich Sacks puts April in a Catholic school girl outfit in order to introduce her to his very own, inorganically grown Snakeweed, Mikey plays video games with Metalhead (while dreaming of April, outfit irrelevant), Donnie visits another dimension via a crystal some comic book artist (Danny DeVito) has tied to his pencil, Raph gets mad at Casey for trying to beat up more Foot Clan than he does, and Leo falls in love with Karai, who is a mutated Japanese serpent and (gasp) Shredder's daughter. Karai is repulsed by the fact that he's a Crocodile, I mean, Turtle, but turned on by the fact that he's 6'3. A blind sushi chef tries to fillet Fishface, gets bit by Dogpound, which turns him into Spyderbytes and opens the portal to Dimension X.
More Krang.
All that goodness in 95 minutes.
