Uh well, here are my thoughts on it. It's probably going to suck. Visually speaking, TMNT fans might enjoy the designs of several characters better this time around and the cinematography might just look like just another action movie, so I'm fine with that.

What worries me is the writing, the director might be new but it still has the same writers (minus one) from the last movie, and we all know how that was a little too "inspired by" the Amazing Spider-Man and the Wolverine. That was especially shameful considering that not only did it take from really recent films, TMNT had plenty of material to adapt on it's own, there was no need to copy from something else or at least not to that extent.

Also, I fear this new movie might also take the worst part of the Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2, the build up of too many plot threads and/or characters. In addition to the nine major characters returning, we'll have at least five new characters coming into the picture. This could lead to yet another cluster **** movie...

The inclusion of MORE characters that I like into a sequel to a movie that sucked balls, that is bringing back everyone except the director, gives me absolutely zero hope.

I have less hope than I did after Bay announced the Turtles would still be mutants before the first film started filming.

There is no hope for this movie its still the same production crew and writers from the first one. They never owned up to any of the problems the movie had in the first place. If anything the only reason we are getting Ninjas and other mutants in this movie because the higher ups at Viacom weren't happy with the toy sales of the last movie.

Its a giant toy ad for ids and that not always and bad thing if you have a competent staff but the first movie proved that we didn't.

You know, that's something that I'm curious about. How well did the merchandising for this movie preformed? I hardly see anybody carrying anything related to this movie.

As for me, well, it's really hard to say. There are some things that look to be an improvement (hopefully a more active Shredder, a new Karai, an interesting choice for Baxter Stockman, the foot clan as ninjas) but there are still other things that bother me (the overcrowded cast of characters, basketball player cameos, a Victorious Secret model, April not getting a recast). I want to say that I am curiously optimistic but with the same writers and producer, it's hard to get my hopes up.

I'm probably aiming for it will be slightly better but not by much.

I'm just so curious about them,too. :) Do you think they will change the design?

About the movie... I have mixed feelings. At first, I found the TMNT movie good and interesting but later the good emotions just faded somehow. I got aware of some mistakes of the movie and... I don't know what to expect. I have positive feelings, tough. :)

I would say no. They will most likely stay the same, but to save a little time for the people who make the animation, they can cut some of the "extras" they wear, for example dons ridiculous amount of tech stuff on his back.

Looks like there is no hope not to see Shrek in the next movie. I liked how they added extra stuff to them to reflect their personality traits. Yet, I found some of the stuff a little bit... exaggerating. Like the necklaces on Mikey.

If you switch off your brain, pretend you've never heard of the Turtles before, and just take it for what it is - a cool sci-fi/superhero action flick very loosely based on a comic book - the first movie is pretty cool.
Which is precisely why the General Public loved it, the die-hards hated it.
Sequels almost always suck, I do have a queasy feeling that they're going to do exactly the wrong thing and go even more hyper-mega-ultra-over-the-top with Special FX, giant whatever, flipping cars, exploding universes and so on.
No Hitchcock, all Spielberg.

Plenty of movies about weird/goofy concepts -- even weirder/goofier than TMNT in some cases! -- are able to tell a good story that engages the audience on an emotional and/or intellectual level, with great characters in a well-realized world. That's what makes a good movie. Hell, here's a quote from Pixar's John Lasseter that sums it all up:

Every movie has three things you have to do – you have to have a compelling story that keeps people on the edge of their seats; you have to populate that story with memorable and appealing characters; and you have to put that story and those characters in a believable world. Those three things are so vitally important.

BayTurtles didn't do any of that. It wasn't a good TMNT movie, and it wasn't a good movie in its own right. It wasn't even a competent movie.

Some people liked it and some hated it, among fans and the general audience alike. And they're allowed to like/dislike it as much as they do. But I'll never see how anyone could be satisfied with it on a character/story level unless they've set their standards bar so low that any dope with a camera could trip over it. If you're happy watching 100 minutes of bad video-game cut scenes? Okay, cool, here's your movie. But there's no reason, or excuse, for any producer or director worth their salt not to aim higher than that.

Some of us can't. AND, for being analytical thinkers who aren't afraid to dissect something (while often still enjoying it regardless) or simply look below the surface, we should be celebrated rather than demonized.

I voted for Hope, but it's not really a hopeful feeling. I saw the first one and I liked it and I like the news coming out of this one so I'm pretty sure I'll like this one, too. That's not really hope, that's certainty, I guess.

Vaguely hopeful that it'll at least be better than the first one. I'd like to think it will be entertaining, as I did enjoy the first one in spite of its flaws, but that it will be GOOD? Not sure how much I want to get my hopes up for that.

It'll be pretty much the same as the last. I found the last movie to be entertaining even though it was dumb and not what I wanted in a turtles flick. I have a feeling that this one will be along the same lines. It won't be a good movie or a good turtles movie, but it'll have entertaining moments. It'll be fun to see a live action bebop and rocksteady. I went into the last movie with high expectations. I'm going into this one with zero expectations so I'm sure it'll be worth a watch.

I guess I'd be somewhere in-between the two, but leaning more towards gas. I mean...the first one was better than I expected it to be, but I'm still not entirely sure that's really anything to brag about. My expectations going into it were so insanely low that it would have had to be, like, 'The Room' caliber to actually fly below that line. And even that might not have been low enough.

So, yeah, as it turned out, there was more to like with the first movie than I would have thought. But it still doesn't lead me to expecting much out of the sequel. On top of any returning badness we'll no doubt have, including those god-awful Turtle designs, we're going to have possibly even funkier designs for Rocksteady and Bebop. We're going to have a re-cast Shredder and Karai for seemingly no reason. We're going to have Tyler Perry in it for god's sake. All of this does not bode extremely well for me.

Granted, I'll still be going to see it in theaters though. I almost feel like I have to.

:lol: I hate kids. For one thing, they're too immature to accept the simple fact that "Pretty much everything you like now, you're going to hate in like, 10 years, and be just SO ashamed of yourself for the way you are right now." I mean, it happens to everyone, BUT at that age you know it all. My niece was like that with the Alvin & the Chipmunk movies, just OBSESSED with them, and my sister basically forced me to sit and watch the first one (so she could finally get a break from it, of course :lol:). And it's SO BAD. And my niece is like, "Isn't this awesome?!", to an absolutely absurd degree, and the whole time me and my wife are being SO in control, just holding in all the stuff we wanted to say, but secretly, we're dying inside. I get up to get a beer, my sister's in the kitchen, laughs, and says "I'm REALLY sorry. But you don't understand... EVERY DAY." :lol: When the kid tried to force-feed us the second one I finally drew a line. There's only so much I can take.

And of course, fast forward 5 years and the kid hates those sh*tty movies and hates when we bring up how obsessed she was with them. Which we absolutely make it a point to do, because goddamn it she forced us to watch "Alvin and the F***ing Chipmunks"! :tgrumble:

But yeah, I feel your pain, and it's why my wife and I will never have kids. Well, there's other reasons. The fact that they're pretty much only interested in crap, though, is a huge deterrent. :lol:
