I always felt it would have been cool if the TMNT, especially in the cartoon had a crossover with the X-Men. I remember in one of the cartoons, Spider-Man crossed over with the X-Men and I know the TMNT are not from Marvel which means they'd have to have a few license agreements. But I felt it'd be really interesting.
Think of it. They were all mutants, rejected and often feared in society but still did their best to protect innocents, ect. I can also see some characters befriending one another such as Leonardo and Cyclops, both being commanders of the group on the battle field and Donatello and Beast, not only having to both hide from society due to their appearance but they were both super geniuses as well. Maybe there could have been a story where Krang makes a deal with Magneto or Apocalypse ect. Just a thought

I would love to see that. For all of the crossovers TMNT ever did, few of them ever felt like it was a good story or there was anything of interest.
Usagi Yojimbo and Ghostbusters are the only two that I can think of that worked.
Guardians of the Galaxy could be cool, and definitely X-Men. I really wish someone would work out the licenses, but it'll never happen.

It's not impossible. I mean they have had many crossovers from other different licenses. Batman and Spawn, Star Trek/X-Men ect. It's just a matter of time especially if fans demand it. If nothing else it would make n interesting fan comic or cartoon. Usagi would definitely be there. I wonder how Raph and Wolverine would get along especially if this is the angry brooding Raph we know of.

I think a Raph/Wolverine story could work out well. Sai on claw clinking, up in each others faces, both are smart mouthed...
Why hasn't that happened yet?

I was typing up my response and when I submitted it you had ninja'd me... I'm obviously not the first person to think this wouldn't be a bad match up

Well, considering the TMNT were inspired partly by the X-Men, Raph and Leo are already analogues to Wolverine and Cyclops. Throw in Donnie as Beast and... who would be a good partner for Mikey? Iceman, maybe? Or Kitty Pryde?

Good question. Who's often known to be the goof off in the X-Men anyway? I don't think there was except maybe Morph from the X-Men cartoon who would joke around with his shape shifting abilities. Gambit can be chilled and relaxed sometimes. Iceman can goof of so I can see him and Mikey getting along. As well as Kitty Pryde.

Is there a source for that? Everyone knows about how they are connected to DareDevil but this is the first I'd heard of them being inspired by X-men

PL is a big Marvel fan, they were loosely inspired by them.

I can't give you a source right now, but it's where they got the "Teenage Mutant" part of the name.

I was just wondering if they have either Peter or Kevin have mentioned X-men in particular. I never really connected X-men "mutants" and ninja turtles "mutants together because they are pretty different.

I know Daredevil inspired them but really it seems like they got more inspiration from X-Men. Both groups, mutants, outcasts of society characters with similar personalities, i.e. Leonardo and Cyclops, Raphael and Wolverine, Donatello and Beast ect. I mean if they can have a comic where Star Trek crosses over with x-men, certainly a tmnt/x-men crossover can be done.

It probably wouldn't go so well for Turtles...
There was that one time, when Wolverine unofficially appeared in a Mirage comic...

That wouldve been awesome if they had done a crossover. They should do it now. And i like how you guys were saying about the similarities in the xmen and tmnt. I never really thought about it.

That would be cool. And with Dr. Who, too. Donnie will be fascinated going travelling in the TARDIS.

Oh, I had already forgotten about the Image Comics parody! Man, they really were so "90s" back in the 1990s.

I'd really like to see the Turtles meet Hellboy or Mike Allred's Madman. Anyone here agree?

That would be awesome. The Doctor and Donnie would get along great if he and the Doctor or he and Beast ever had a discussion full of technobabble, that would probably make Mikey's head hurt. xD
I also would want to see them meet Hellboy or Madman as well. I have heard they crossed over with the Savage Dragon at one point. However I am really surprised that no one has attempted to make a TMNT/X-Men crossover, when there's so many similarities so many ways how the characters could interact, how they could relate to one another since they are all mutants, ect.

I love crossovers but I feel like the only ones that really make sense are the ones that have happened already. Savage Dragon, Usagi, Ghostbusters, etc. There are definitely some other things that would work quite well (like Hellboy, for example) but I'm not exactly chomping at the bit for them. I'm not huge on the idea that the TMNT share a galaxy or whatever with the Marvel Universe.

I kind of agree. It's always a bit strange to think of the marvel universe being this place with a million super hero's and villains just running around willy nilly. TMNT being contained is kind of nice when you step back and think about it.

Absolutely agree.
But a transdimensional one-time-only crossover? I'd be down for that.

I wonder how long they'd last in the Danger Room. They'd have some difficulty taking down some villains as the turtles don't have powers like the other mutants, even though they are mutated turtles. But then I guess it wouldn't be so bad. They've taken down others who had super strength, powers ect.

I think they could do that, and the tmnt don't even have to visit the X-Men. What if the X-Men visit the TMNT in their universe? Who knows as long as they get to work together.
I wonder if they were to crossover with the X-Men, which version of the Turtles should do that? The comic version? 1987 toon, 2003 toon, 2012 toon?
2003 4Kids TMNT would seem most at home with them, I think.

I think so too. I could see the 2003 toon interact well with the 1992 X-Men cartoon. :)

It made me think though. If they couldn't crossover with the X-Men, what if they crossed over with the Gargoyles? Does anyone remember that show? They were creatures who had to hide in society, they had a girl named Elisa Maza who got into places they couldn't go to. She was the April O'Neil of the group, but actually fought. I think The Gargoyles would get along great with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Lexington and Donatello are both smart and like to tinker with things, and Broadway and Mikey like to eat and have fun.
I could see Xanatos making a deal with Shredder and Krang, too.

My own take on exactly that concept! It's a mixed-verse AU. (IE, the story is part of my AU Turtle-verse that mixes several versions, including MAINLY the OT and first three movies, with a few minor elements from the 2007 CG film, the FoxKids series, and nods to the comics, NM, and Nick.) The Gargoyles part of the tale is almost strictly canon, up to just before the episode "Hunter's Moon" where the clock tower is destroyed and they moved back to the castle. There is an OC character from another story who is part of the Hamato clan, a kunoichi who is training with them. (Oddly, I started the other story LONG before Nick decided to make April one....)

I should check that out sometime. :) I figured they could meet up together. Both of them live in New York City, too. It is strange that they didn't crossover with them. And they had crossovers before, like with Usagi, who wasn't part of the tmnt universe originally. By the time Gargoyles started, the Turtles were in the Red Sky season, so both of the shows were dark and dramatic, which might have fit well.

Very true. I kind of went with a bit more of the Red Sky tone of the OT for that tale (and the one it spun off from) with a much more threatening Shredder and more violent action. Even the Rat King makes an appearance in the "main" tale- and a kind of creepy one, at that. (There's also a mob execution and a rape in the "main" story, among other things. Be warned....)
The Gargoyles one I linked mainly deals with Shredder, the Pack, and Demona, though Hun, Rocksteady, Bebop, and even Tokka and Rahzar make appearances. Xanatos really doesn't have much of a role beyond setting things in motion, given that this is set in the last half of season two, shortly before Hunter's Moon when they moved back to the Castle. I've also been toying with throwing MacBeth into the mix, but maybe not. Griff will probably make an appearance, though, considering Lex's unique "status" among the Wyvern's, and an odd idea I had for those two..... (Yeah, I did it- I shipped Lex and Griff. Dunno why; it just struck me as an interesting idea.)

I defs prefer Lex and Griff to Lex and Staghart - now that is one pairing I could never quite wrap my head around!
